Good Night, Brother! - Chapter 3.2 (R19)
Taking a bite of the seasonal amberjack sashimi, Eun Hyun’s face lit up.
“Ah… This is the taste of life.”
“Anyone would think you were starving,” Jin Seo teased, but Eun Hyun paid no attention, pouring herself a glass of sake to pair with the food.
“No, I’m talking about the company cafeteria. At first, I said the food was amazing, but after a few months, I got sick of it.”
“Of course. Remember in middle school when you raved about how good the school lunches were, but later, you got so sick of them you started sneaking out to buy food?”
“Was I that much of a troublemaker?”
“Well… let’s just say puberty hit you harder than most.”
“Did it?”
Eun Hyun wasn’t the type to dwell on things that had already passed. She didn’t have a clear memory of how she used to be, nor did she care much to recall.
As she pondered what to eat next, chewing lightly on the edge of her chopsticks, her phone vibrated on the floor, signaling an incoming call. It was from her sibling.
“Hey, Yi Hyeon. Have you eaten dinner yet?”
“Hyung. Where are you?”
I ask if he’s eaten, and he asks where I am. Eun Hyun let out a deflated chuckle before replying.
“I’m at a pub near the office.”
“What’s the name of the pub?”
Tonight, Yi Hyeon was acting as if Eun Hyun were a child wandering too close to the water’s edge. Feeling a sudden urge to tease, Eun Hyun said, “Not telling.”
“…”
A long silence followed. Somehow, Eun Hyun imagined her sibling on the other end of the line, completely deadpan.
“I’m joking, Yi Hyeon. It’s called ‘Yume.’”
Beep.
The call abruptly ended without so much as a reply. Staring blankly at her phone, Eun Hyun muttered, “Seriously?”
“Your sibling?”
“Yeah. They’re being clingy today. Maybe they’re lonely.”
“Well, they’re still new to Seoul. I bet they’re feeling a bit isolated without friends.”
“Oh, by the way, remember how you suggested getting Yi Hyeon tested before?”
“Yeah, I remember.”
“They came back normal.”
“…Really?”
Han Jin Seo raised an eyebrow, looking slightly surprised.
“Apparently, extreme cases undergo mandatory annual check-ups by the government.”
“Didn’t know that either.”
“Yeah, seems like they’re under some kind of special monitoring.”
As they chatted about this and that, a plate of sashimi and a bottle of sake quickly disappeared. They had just ordered their second bottle when Eun Hyun’s face began to flush bright red, even though she hadn’t drunk much.
Her body felt hot, waves of warmth surging through her. Sweat began to bead on her skin, soaking the back of her shirt. Having already removed her coat and jacket, Eun Hyun had nothing left to shed.
Is the room too warm? Maybe I should ask them to lower the heat.
A bead of sweat trickled from her forehead, down her cheek, and finally dripped off her chin.
I don’t usually sweat this much… What’s going on?
“Hey, Eun Hyun. Why are you sweating so much?”
“Huh…?”
“Are you feeling sick?”
“Ugh…”
Suddenly, a sharp pain stabbed through her stomach, and her vision blurred into darkness. Her head felt light, spinning like it did during her last hangover. Clutching her stomach with both hands, she set down her chopsticks.
“Ah… Maybe the alcohol isn’t agreeing with me. I don’t feel so good…”
Eun Hyun’s strength drained away. Her body, leaning slightly to one side, eventually collapsed limply onto the floor.
“I feel… strange…”
Her heavy eyelids fluttered open and shut. The dim pendant light above her spun in circles, making her feel nauseous, though thankfully she didn’t vomit.
Then, like breaking a bottle of perfume, an intensely rich scent filled the room. It wasn’t a scent Eun Hyun could notice herself, but it spread rapidly.
Han Jin Seo’s eyes widened in shock.
“Hey, you…”
His expression twisted as he pulled his sweater sleeve over his nose. A strong omega pheromone scent was radiating from Eun Hyun, something she shouldn’t have had. The overwhelming sweetness of the omega pheromones, heightened by a heat cycle, was far beyond what a sleeve could block. The tantalizing aura brushed against his skin, stirring an unbearable heat in his lower body.
“Shit…”
“Ugh…”
Curled into a ball, Eun Hyun struggled against the heat consuming her. It felt as though a seed was sprouting in her abdomen, itching and burning at the same time. Her body felt like it was melting, unbearably hot, and her vision flickered in and out. She teetered on the edge of consciousness, making it even harder to endure. The sensation wasn’t just strange—it was downright terrifying.
“Haa…”
Completely overtaken by the pheromones, Han Jin Seo exhaled heavily and leaned his large frame over Eun Hyun’s trembling body. Even in her half-conscious state, Eun Hyun could tell something was wrong.
“Han Jin Seo…? What… are you… doing…?”
“…Eun Hyun…”
Han Jin Seo buried his nose in the gland on her neck, where the pheromones were strongest, and inhaled deeply. The sharp bridge of his nose brushed against her sensitive skin, sending shivers down her spine. Summoning all her strength, Eun Hyun pushed at his shoulders, but he didn’t budge.
“…Stop, what the hell are you… doing…!”
“Disgusting…?”
Repeating her words, Han Jin Seo looked dazed, unable to understand. At that moment, a strong scent, similar to the men’s skincare smell she’d noticed earlier, hit Eun Hyun’s nose. It was Han Jin Seo’s alpha pheromones.
As the potent alpha pheromones overwhelmed her, any strength left in Eun Hyun’s body vanished. She couldn’t even lift a finger. While her body was utterly powerless, her heart raced wildly, pounding in her chest.
And that wasn’t all. Her center throbbed, swelling firmly, while a sticky liquid began to seep out, wetting her underwear. Frowning at the foreign and uncomfortable sensation, Eun Hyun squinted as her tie loosened and her shirt buttons popped open, one by one, under Han Jin Seo’s hands. Tears welled in her eyes.
“…Han Jin Seo, why… are you doing this…?”
“Haa, I can’t take it anymore. …But you… why do you smell so…”
Impatient, Han Jin Seo pressed his lips to various spots on Eun Hyun’s bare chest while grinding against her with his clothed groin. The torrent of alpha pheromones combined with the physical stimulation left Eun Hyun clenching her eyes shut and shaking her head desperately.
“Ahh… Why… Why…!”
“Haa… You smell incredible right now.”
“Wh-what… do you… mean…?”
“You don’t realize it, do you? It’s coming from here, so strong…”
““Ugh! Aah, don’t do that… Ugh….”
“Ha, Jeong Eun Hyun… You’ve been hiding it from me this whole time? Huh? That you’re an Omega….”
“Omega? What… No, that’s… not true….”
Eun Hyun was stunned by Han Jin Seo’s words calling her an Omega and looked into his eyes. The familiar gaze of a friend of ten years was nowhere to be seen. Instead, only the lust-clouded eyes of an Alpha fixated on an Omega stared back at her.
Han Jin Seo’s heavy, labored breathing was palpable even through her clothes. If this continued, something irreversible would happen. Despite knowing that, all Eun Hyun could do was claw at the floor with her fingernails, her body trembling. As the heat overtook her senses, her vision began to blur, and hot tears spilled down her cheeks.
Bang!
At the sound of the sliding door slamming open as if it might break, Han Jin Seo and Eun Hyun’s eyes instinctively turned toward the source. There stood Jeong Yi Hyeon, her hair disheveled, face flushed, and chest heaving as if she had sprinted all the way there.
“Ah… hmph… Yi Hyeon-ah….”
“Haa… ha….”
Everything happened in an instant. Without even taking off her shoes, Yi Hyeon leaped across the narrow floor and into the room. In one swift motion, she grabbed Han Jin Seo by the collar and flung him off Eun Hyun. Han Jin Seo, caught off guard, was thrown into the corner of the room by Yi Hyeon’s sudden attack. The loud crash of plates falling from the table echoed through the room.
“Ugh—!”
A fist connected with Han Jin Seo’s stomach as he reeled from the surprise assault. Thud, thud, thud. The relentless, one-sided sound of blows followed. At first, Han Jin Seo struggled to push Yi Hyeon away, but soon his head and shoulders slumped, his resistance fading.
Eun Hyun, watching in shock, cried out at Yi Hyeon, whose arm was raised high to strike Han Jin Seo again, who now seemed unconscious.
“Yi Hyeon-ah, stop…! That’s enough…!”
“Haa… Dude, is this kid shitting himself right now?”
“That’s not it….”
“I’m going to die,” Eun Hyun pleaded in a whisper.
Yi Hyeon, still wearing a dissatisfied expression, gradually shifted his gaze downward. Through Eun Hyun’s unbuttoned shirt, her body, flushed with heat, was clearly visible.
“Phew…”
Yi Hyeon exhaled deeply and weakly lowered his hand, which had been clenched so tightly it ached. He approached Eun Hyun and removed his padded jacket, draping it over her.
Just moments ago, the suffocating heat and dizziness had been unbearable. But as her racing heartbeat slowed, the intense heat began to subside. The warm, forest-like scent that enveloped her brought a wave of relief. Realizing belatedly that it was the scent of Yi Hyeon’s clothes, Eun Hyun pulled the padding up to the tip of her nose and slowly closed her eyes.
