Golden Temptation – A Yuri Story - Chapter 69
“Did something happen to Godfather?” Jing Xuan felt a sudden surge of dread, her heart twisting with anxiety.
“Uncle Huang was hospitalized due to food poisoning.”
“Food poisoning? How did that happen?”
“I’m afraid someone might have poisoned him! Ajing…”
“I understand. I’m going back immediately.” Jing Xuan stood up to leave, but Lan Qing quickly rose and grabbed her arm.
“You’re leaving now?”
“Yes.” Jing Xuan nodded. “Qing, please take good care of your family… and Fei’er.”
Watching Jing Xuan’s retreating figure, Lan Qing hesitated briefly before resolutely catching up.
“Wait!” she intercepted Jing Xuan’s steps. “Take me with you!”
“Girl, you…”
“I won’t let you face danger alone anymore. I can’t spend my life constantly worrying. I won’t risk losing you again. Xuan, I love you. Let me go with you!”
“But if you come with me, what about your family? Uncle and Aunt Iga just survived a deadly ordeal. There’s still so much here that needs you.”
“My sister and Yan Zuo are still here to help. But watching you go into danger alone—there’s just no way I can let that happen.”
Lan Qing’s unwavering determination and her deep affection moved even Takashi to admiration. Not far away, Qiao Fei, touched by Lan Qing’s devotion, also made a bold decision.
“Alright, we’ll go together.” Jing Xuan couldn’t think of a better way to express her overwhelming emotions than to hold this woman—who loved her so completely—tightly in her arms.
“Really?” Lan Qing beamed like a child finding her way back home. Jing Xuan leaned her forehead against Lan Qing’s, answering with equal conviction, “Really.”
Jing Xuan and Takashi discussed having the Yan family intervene in handling the Iga clan’s terror-related case and neutralizing the Iga elder. As long as that old man stayed out of their way, they were confident they could deal with the cunning Jing Cheng.
That very night, Jing Xuan took Lan Qing and flew back to Singapore.
Huang Zhixiong’s condition was dire. He had suddenly collapsed during a meeting. After being rushed to the hospital, doctors confirmed it was due to long-term food poisoning. However, police investigations turned up no suspicious evidence, and the hospital continued to stand by their diagnosis.
With no breakthroughs, the case remained stagnant, and Huang Zhixiong remained in a coma. Public speculation began to swirl, with the most sensational topic being the shocking revelation of Jing Xuan’s true identity.
“Have you heard? The CEO of Huatian International is actually a woman!”
“You mean Huang Jing Xuan?”
“Yes! Unbelievable, right? And now that Director Huang’s in a coma, she hasn’t even come back to see him. If you ask me, he probably collapsed from sheer anger because of her!”
“What do you mean?”
“You really don’t know? Listen—he had no children and raised this ungrateful wolf in place of a son. How could he not be heartbroken?”
“And get this—Huang Jing Xuan’s a woman, but rumor has it she even got a woman pregnant before. Maybe she faked a wife just to hide her identity?”
“No wonder nobody suspected for all these years! She really had everyone fooled!”
“I heard she had it done in Thailand… could it really be that convincing?”
Two old men fanned themselves as they gossiped at the market. Nearby, a tall man with a cap and his face half-covered stopped at a newsstand and bought a copy of the evening paper.
“Tsk, who would’ve thought old men these days gossip worse than women. Shameless,” muttered the newspaper vendor lady as she tidied the stand, not noticing the man’s unusual outfit. “Right, sir?”
The man smiled faintly without replying, paid, and walked off.
“This kid… always in the spotlight,” he murmured. “If my calculations are right, Jing Xuan should be back tomorrow. Looks like our reunion isn’t far off.”
“Ugh, so hot!” At the airport, a couple walked out arm-in-arm, clearly close and affectionate. Passersby turned their heads—they were far too eye-catching. The woman was tall and sensual, the man handsome and
poised. A few sharp-eyed onlookers recognized the woman as the wildly popular fashion designer Lan Qing, and the man—well, the infamous and endlessly talked-about CEO-turned-scandal-icon, Huang Jing
Xuan… or rather, Ms. Huang.
Some pretended to take a break, sneakily snapping photos on their phones. Others sped up their pace, pretending to be disgusted. Jing Xuan and Lan Qing saw all of it but paid it no mind.
“Qing, are you tired?”
“Not at all! Are you?”
“Me neither. But… Qing, are you afraid?”
“Afraid? Afraid you’ll stop wanting me, maybe!” She chuckled.
“Little trickster.” If it had been Fei’er, she probably wouldn’t be so candid.
“What are you thinking, Xuan?”
“Oh, nothing. Just thinking about what we should eat later.”
“Seriously though, Singapore is so hot. I shouldn’t have worn so much.”
“Missy, this is the tropics. It’s winter in Japan—you’re bound to feel hot. But you’re wearing short sleeves! Still hot? Be careful of the temperature difference or you’ll catch a cold!”
“You always scold me! I’ll tell on you to Godfather when we see him!”
“Hahaha, we’ll see about that!”
When they arrived at the National Hospital, Lan Qing was visibly nervous.
“Xuan, I… I didn’t bring a gift!”
“It’s fine. Godfather’s not that hard to please.”
“But it still feels wrong. So impolite.”
“Don’t worry!”
“Xuan, this is the first time I’m visiting him officially—as your girlfriend. I don’t want anything to be less than perfect. You go up first and check on him. I’ll buy a gift and join you soon!”
“Then I’ll go with you.”
“No need—just go check on him and make sure he’s okay. I’ll be right back!”
“Alright. Be careful.” Jing Xuan instructed her bodyguard to keep Lan Qing safe. She kissed her gently on the forehead and stepped into the elevator.
“16th floor,” Jing Xuan murmured, pressing the button. As the elevator ascended, she watched the numbers climb, unease rising in her chest. Something felt… off.
When the elevator reached the 16th floor, Jing Xuan immediately sensed it—why was the hospital so quiet? Eerily so.
Ding.
The doors slid open. Jing Xuan casually slipped a hand into her pocket, wrapping her fingers around a keychain. She stepped out calmly and walked toward the CIP ward. Her footsteps echoed rhythmically down the silent corridor.
As she reached for the handle to Huang Zhixiong’s room, she suddenly ducked—dodging a punch from behind. She pulled out the keychain, gripping the longest key and slashing it toward her attacker’s eyes. The assailant instinctively flinched back. Jing Xuan took the chance to move forward—but she was quickly tackled by two more people coming from both sides.
She hit the floor hard but braced herself with her hands, absorbing the impact and springing up again. That’s when she realized—these people weren’t trying to hurt her. They were trying to capture her.
But before she could make a proper escape, several gun barrels were already pointed at her.
“Huang Jing Xuan! Stop resisting! We’re the police! You can’t escape!”
Meanwhile, in the flower shop downstairs, Lan Qing was having a bouquet of lilies wrapped when the TV caught her attention.
“…The wanted suspect in the murder of Huatian International’s executive director Huang Zhixiong—Huang Jing Xuan—was arrested this afternoon at the National Hospital. Huang Zhixiong was found suffocated
last night, his ventilator manually shut off. Surveillance footage shows Huang Jing Xuan removing the life-support system. Her motive remains unclear and is under further investigation…
