God is Being Pampered by the Group - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Silver Moon
The weather was clear and the sun was bright, with a temperature that was perfectly warm without being scorching. In the clean and transparent sky, a few white clouds drifted leisurely.
The agreed time was 3:00 PM, but Wang Shan set off early and arrived at the destination half an hour before the appointment.
It was a famous café.
Wang Shan sat down in a window booth. In front and behind her were ceiling-high hollow partitions adorned with beautiful potted plants and decorations. The environment inside the café was leisurely and quiet.
A waiter approached with a menu, but Wang Shan sent them away for now; the people she was waiting for had not yet arrived.
About twenty minutes later, Wang Shan noticed an ordinary second-hand car park outside. It was indeed Guan Zhou’s familiar car. Not long after, as expected, familiar figures emerged from the vehicle.
Guan Zhou, and the little guy… Bai Yan.
Bai Yan’s attire was the same as when Wang Shan first saw him on the film set: he wore a hat and a mask, revealing only a pair of pale gold eyes. His skin was fair and delicate, and his long silver hair cascaded from the edges of his hat.
However, this time, the little guy was holding a black cat in his arms. She didn’t know when he had started keeping one.
While she was lost in thought, Bai Yan and Guan Zhou had already entered the café. Wang Shan quickly snapped out of it, immediately rose from the booth, waved to them at the door, and smiled:
“Over here—”
Guan Zhou saw Wang Shan and gave Bai Yan a nudge. The two of them walked over toward her.
Inside the booth, Bai Yan sat by the window with Guan Zhou beside him. Opposite them was Wang Shan, the manager of the rat spirit Qi Yue. Back on Director Zhou’s set, she had taken a liking to Bai Yan at first sight and had extended an olive branch once before.
However, Bai Yan hadn’t accepted it then.
Presumably, it would be the same now.
Wang Shan wore a face full of friendly smiles. Seeing everyone had arrived, she raised her hand to call over a server.
The server was a cute young girl holding a menu with a smile on her face. However, when she reached the booth and saw Bai Yan, who had lowered his mask, her eyes widened slightly as if she couldn’t believe who she had encountered.
As if knowing what she was about to say, Bai Yan turned toward her and raised a finger, gently pressing it against his lips.
Shh.
The girl immediately covered her mouth, her eyes remaining wide and filled with boundless joy.
Seeing this, both Guan Zhou and Wang Shan realized that they had encountered a fan of Bai Yan. Judging by her reaction, she was likely a fan from the Xigua website.
However, the girl remembered her duties. After calming herself down, she took the orders and left, though her cheerful silhouette as she walked away clearly showed her inner excitement.
This small interlude passed. Regardless of how the girl might go online to share this with her friends later, things at the booth gradually began to get down to business.
Wang Shan took out a file, placed it on the table, and pressing a corner with her finger, slowly pushed it across.
Then, meeting Guan Zhou’s gaze, she smiled: “These are the best resources our company has to offer. We think very highly of Mr. Bai and hold him in great esteem. If Mr. Bai agrees to join our company, we will do our utmost to cultivate him.”
Seeing Guan Zhou pick up the file to flip through it, Wang Shan continued with a smile: “With the company’s high regard and cultivation, Mr. Bai’s future stardom will undoubtedly be smooth sailing.”
As she spoke, Wang Shan glanced at Bai Yan by the window and laughed again: “In just a few years, perhaps another extraordinary Best Actor will be born in the acting world.”
The hint couldn’t have been more obvious.
Inside the quiet café, soft background music was soothing and relaxing.
In front of Bai Yan was a cup of strawberry pudding, along with various sweets. If it weren’t for the cups of the café’s signature Black Forest coffee in front of Wang Shan and Guan Zhou, one might have thought this was a dessert shop.
Slender, fair fingers gently gripped a long silver spoon, scooping a piece of pudding into his mouth, seemingly oblivious to Wang Shan’s gaze.
The air fell silent for a moment.
After a while, Guan Zhou put down the file he had finished reading. Raising his eyes, he met Wang Shan’s smiling, confident expression.
“How is it?”
Wang Shan felt she had shown the greatest sincerity; the conditions were the best, and no one should be able to resist the temptation of these resources.
Especially Guan Zhou, who had spent several years in the entertainment industry; he should understand the preciousness of these resources better than anyone. So
Wang Shan looked at Guan Zhou opposite her, her eyes glowing, almost expecting to hear his words of agreement. However,
“I refuse.”
Eh?!!
“Or rather, I am refusing on behalf of Bai Yan.”
Guan Zhou repeated himself, an apologetic smile on his face.
Wang Shan’s expression went wood-like, as if she had lost her soul. Only when she heard Guan Zhou repeat it did she react. Her gaze snapped toward Bai Yan, who was quietly eating dessert by the window, and she forced a smile:
“Mr. Bai hasn’t looked at it yet, right? Isn’t it a bit improper for Mr. Guan to be so arbitrary? Even if you are Mr. Bai’s cousin, you shouldn’t make choices for him, especially regarding such major matters concerning his future. I think it’s better to let Mr. Bai decide for himself.”
Her words carried a hint of criticism toward Guan Zhou’s behavior of making a decision alone without consulting Bai Yan.
Furthermore, the company wants to sign Bai Yan, not Guan Zhou internally, Wang Shan was likely grumbling this way. She also recalled that Qi Yue had mentioned the reason his previous recruitment plan had come to nothing was related to Guan Zhou.
Now, Wang Shan was starting to feel it.
However, hearing Wang Shan’s words, Guan Zhou thought for a moment and then pushed the file on the table toward Bai Yan.
“Indeed, Sister Wang is right. Bai Yan, you take a look too. If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask. I’m sure Sister Wang won’t be stingy with an explanation. As for the choice, you make the decision.”
Opposite them, Wang Shan nodded hurriedly with a smile.
Bai Yan looked at the file before him, then at Guan Zhou, and then at the expectant Wang Shan. He picked up the precious resources as she wished.
Just as Wang Shan had said, every benefit was listed clearly. Compared to first-tier stars, these were equal or even superior. For a newcomer, it was absolutely a “pie falling from the sky” surprise. Anyone else would have likely signed their name in tears of gratitude and sold themselves to the company.
If it weren’t for the fact that these were clearly conditions from a major firm like Yiyun Media Group, one might have suspected it was a scam.
However, Wang Shan was real, Yiyun Media was real, and so the resources were real.
To sign a newcomer by promising such unique and excellent treatment while Bai Yan certainly had potential, it shouldn’t have been enough to make a massive company determined to secure him at any cost.
Unless there was another motive.
Bai Yan looked up slightly, glancing at Wang Shan, whose eyes flickered with anticipation. Behind her, besides Qi Yue and Zuo Chengyi, there was a high-level decision-maker.
It was likely “he” who had given Wang Shan these powers.
But regardless, no one can force Bai Yan to do something he doesn’t want to do.
After a moment, Bai Yan put down the file and, meeting Wang Shan’s expectant gaze, spoke calmly:
“My decision is the same as Guan Zhou’s.”
Wang Shan… felt as if a mouthful of blood was stuck deep in her throat, unable to be spat out or swallowed.
“…You could look again. Is there something you don’t understand? Ask me anything, or… are you dissatisfied with something? We can discuss anything…”
“The conditions your company offered are indeed good—very good. Good enough to make us feel overwhelmed by such a favor.”
Guan Zhou cut in and continued: “But Bai Yan is different from me; he has no interest in entering the entertainment industry. Therefore, no matter how good the conditions are, we won’t choose to sacrifice his happiness.”
Wang Shan: “…”
She actually wanted to ask: Is he a fool? Only a fool would consider things this way, right? A golden road was clearly laid out right before his eyes; he only needed to take one step forward for a smooth star path.
And yet, because he “wasn’t interested,” he turned a blind eye to a brilliant future and even rejected it.
Wang Shan was… beyond words.
Guan Zhou smiled, tidied up the precious documents, and pushed them back to Wang Shan.
“So, I’m very sorry.”
Wang Shan: “…Won’t you reconsider?”
Guan Zhou: “This is the decision of both Bai Yan and myself.”
Wang Shan: “Reconsider just a bit more?”
Guan Zhou: “Sorry.”
Wang Shan: “…”
Inside the leisurely and soothing café, the black cat was curled up on Bai Yan’s lap, its eyes squinted in its familiar expression of intoxication.
At the front counter, the cute girl took a deep breath, silently cheering herself on. Then, with a jubilant smile on her face, she carried a glass of crystal-clear dessert toward the booth area.
“A complimentary ‘Dream Angel’ on the house~”
Her sweet voice seemed to dispel much of the oppressive atmosphere.
The girl put the dessert down, intentionally leaning it toward Bai Yan, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Bai Yan’s voice was light and pleasant: “Thank you.”
With that, the girl retreated, satisfied.
Wang Shan exhaled slowly. She didn’t put the documents away but pushed them across once more and said:
“Keep these. I probably can’t change your mind right now, but you’re welcome to regret it anytime. I will fight for the longest possible deadline for Mr. Bai.”
Before Guan Zhou could speak, Wang Shan added: “Don’t reject me on this. I’m feeling very heartbroken and regretful right now. Are you going to strip away even this tiny bit of hope I have?”
She appeared quite pitiful.
Guan Zhou: “…” He hadn’t even said anything yet.
After speaking, Wang Shan rose from her seat. Her gaze swept over Guan Zhou, who was frowning as if about to speak, and then rested on Bai Yan.
A smile returned to Wang Shan’s face as she said to Bai Yan: “Little no, Silver Moon, I’ve followed your livestream. I watch it every day; I’m a fan now.”
“Silver Moon” was the nickname the fans in Bai Yan’s livestream gave him.
Coincidentally, Bai Yan’s account was named “Silver Sun and Moon,” abbreviated as “Silver Moon.” It seemed to refer to Bai Yan’s long silver hair and also carried a connotation of being as pure and beautiful as the moon.
Bai Yan had chosen this account name himself. At the time, Guan Zhou was curious why he chose it, but Bai Yan simply remained silent.
In truth, in the other world, “Silver Sun and Moon” meant “Deity.”
