God is Being Pampered by the Group - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: Let’s Livestream
Warding against external enemies is easy, but it’s hard to stop the “thief” within.
In the half-month since he picked up the silver-haired beauty, the expenditures had clearly outweighed the income. Although Guan Zhou was earning a bit more now thanks to Director Zhou’s favor, it still wasn’t enough. After all, Guan Zhou couldn’t bear to skimp on anything for his silver-haired beauty.
The remote location, the cramped apartment, the background roles that earned only a few coins a day…
Guan Zhou’s tight financial situation, though he never showed it, had not escaped Bai Yan’s notice.
Luo Miaoxi repeated the question, somewhat uncertainly: “How to earn money?”
Bai Yan responded: “Yes.”
Receiving Bai Yan’s affirmative answer, Luo Miaoxi finally snapped out of her daze. She had never actually thought about this problem. She was a senior in college; aside from working on her graduation thesis, she was as free as could be. Furthermore, her parents had no real requirements for her. It didn’t matter if she found a job or not. To use her father’s exact words: “Supporting one of you is no problem.”
This left Luo Miaoxi both moved and speechless. Consequently, before graduation, she hadn’t considered looking for a job or internship.
But now, with Bai Yan suddenly asking her this, Luo Miaoxi’s mind—aside from being a bit cluttered suddenly recalled the videos she frequently browsed and a word that appeared with high frequency online. Combining that with the peerless face before her, a thought slowly surfaced in her mind.
Luo Miaoxi: “…Speaking of ways to earn money quickly, and if you want it to be easy and free, maybe… you could start livestreaming?”
Bai Yan: “Livestreaming?”
“Yes, livestreaming!”
The more Luo Miaoxi thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. Just based on Bai Yan’s appearance, wouldn’t the donations come rolling in?
Bai Yan looked at the television screen in front of him, which was still paused on the game interface… and nodded slightly.
“Then let’s try livestreaming games.”
“Mhm Wait, what?!”
Luo Miaoxi picked at her ear in a very unladylike fashion, wondering if she had misheard. Not only had Guan Zhou known from the start that Bai Yan’s gaming was terrible, but Luo Miaoxi, having visited daily and witnessed the gameplay with her own eyes, also had to admit that no one is perfect.
It made sense that if God gave Bai Yan such a perfect appearance, He would close the window on his gaming skills.
Yet now, Bai Yan said he wanted to livestream games???
“Wait, wait a second.”
Luo Miaoxi covered her forehead, staring at Bai Yan’s face which one could never tire of looking at for a good while before speaking: “I mean, could we consider livestreaming something else?”
For example: Your face.
Bai Yan rested his chin on one hand, his thick white eyelashes drooping slightly as if in thought. Then, his calm gaze slowly moved from Luo Miaoxi to the game screen in front of him, and he tilted his head slightly.
“But, I think livestreaming games is quite good.”
Luo Miaoxi… clutched her pounding heart, nearly nodding “yes” immediately under the control of his beauty.
Luo Miaoxi didn’t speak. First, she picked up her phone and—click, click, click—captured the beautiful image of Bai Yan sitting on the sofa holding the black cat while doing a “head tilt kill.” She secretly thought that she wouldn’t share this photo with Yang Xinran; she wanted to keep it as a private treasure.
After a moment, Luo Miaoxi coughed, attempting to change Bai Yan’s mind.
“There are many game streamers nowadays; it’s a very common subject. It’s not novel enough. Also, it’s hard for a new streamer to find a market in gaming, especially one whose skills aren’t that great. The audience might not even give them a second glance.”
“Furthermore, regarding gaming livestreams, the hottest topic online is holographic games. The audience follows them like TV series and they’ve already taken over most of the market. It’s hard for new streamers to stand out.”
Luo Miaoxi’s eyes were determined as she looked at Bai Yan imploringly.
Bai Yan met her gaze: “Do you think… my skills are not good enough?”
!!
This was a “life-or-death” question.
Luo Miaoxi hesitated on how to fabricate a suitable answer. If she weren’t being watched by Bai Yan, she likely would have whipped out her phone to ask the omnipotent netizens for help: Waiting online! Very urgent!
However, she saw Bai Yan holding the black cat, his eyelids lowering as he said in a calm yet seemingly sad voice:
“Besides playing games, I don’t seem to know how to do anything else…”
!!
“Fine, then we’ll livestream games!”
The words blurted out faster than her consciousness could stop them. Once Luo Miaoxi realized what she’d said, she no longer feared the issue of bad skills. Her expression was resolute; the most important thing now was to show the will that livestreaming anything was perfectly fine!
Bai Yan looked steadily at Luo Miaoxi, and she returned a firm, unwavering gaze.
No one noticed that Bai Yan seemed to curl his lips slightly into a smile as he nodded: “Good.”
Luo Miaoxi breathed a sigh of relief, completely unable to resist. She even thought with lingering fear that King Zhou facing Daji… must have been exactly like this.
…
So, when Guan Zhou returned from work, he found that his pure and lovely silver-haired beauty had actually been “led astray” by someone?
Warding against external enemies is easy, but it’s hard to stop the thief within… cough.
“You want to livestream games?!”
It wasn’t that Guan Zhou didn’t believe in him, but rather Bai Yan’s skill of walking into a pit on flat ground and dying… cough cough.
Before Bai Yan could speak, Luo Miaoxi, who had spent the whole day discussing how to start the stream and earn money, spoke up first on his behalf: “Yeah, he plays games normally anyway, so he might as well livestream it while he plays. Plus, streaming can make some money.”
Guan Zhou’s eyes softened slightly as he noticed the latter half of the sentence. Clearly, when he first heard Bai Yan wanted to livestream, he thought it was just a sudden interest. He hadn’t expected…
Guan Zhou smiled and gave a suave wave of his hand: “Whatever equipment you need, just tell me. Don’t be polite.”
Luo Miaoxi had already looked it all up. Seeing this, she hurriedly handed a prepared list to Guan Zhou.
Guan Zhou suddenly thought of a question: “If you’re streaming games… Do you need to show your face?”
Luo Miaoxi had obviously considered this. But thinking of Bai Yan’s face which looked like it didn’t belong to the mortal world paired with skills that were “trash” to the extreme… emmm, why did that feel like a sense of disillusionment? If he didn’t show his face, using “bad skills” as a selling point might actually be good… wait, maybe… it wasn’t impossible…
Unaware of what was going through Luo Miaoxi’s mind or her rich facial expressions, Guan Zhou saw Bai Yan turn his head to look at him after the question was asked.
“Do you think I need to show my face?”
Guan Zhou frowned in a dilemma, eventually saying: “It depends on what you like.”
“However, streaming is fine, and showing your face or not is fine too, but I don’t want you to be mistreated.”
Behind the invisible internet, there are all sorts of monsters and demons; people can say all kinds of nasty things. And Bai Yan’s skills were truly, truly bad. Guan Zhou didn’t want Bai Yan to suffer because of that.
But Guan Zhou remembered what Luo Miaoxi had said earlier… he simply couldn’t bear to refuse. His heart was a complete mess of softness. He estimated that if Bai Yan said he wanted the moon right now, Guan Zhou would find a way to pluck it down for him in a heartbeat.
“…Forget it, at most I’ll just keep a close eye on things.”
Guan Zhou scanned the list Luo Miaoxi had compiled, forming a general plan in his mind. Then, just as Luo Miaoxi seemed about to say something, he spoke first:
“Alright, I’ve got it. It’s getting late, you should go home now, little sister.”
Luo Miaoxi, who was being ushered out: “…” I have some words I’m not sure I should say?
