When the Major General Omega Picked Up a Little Snake Alpha - Chapter 11
The glass cover in Luo Qi’s hand was translucent. Just as he was about to lower it, the little snake slithered down the tablecloth and landed right in his lap. It curled its body up, its head persistently trying to burrow into the gaps between his shirt buttons.
Luo Qi quickly pinched its soft little head with his fingertips and pulled it out. This naughty little thing actually had the nerve to try and “undress” him.
“I wanted to try the kiwi cake, but I don’t see any,” Luo Xiao’yu said, lifting several covers in search of his preferred flavor.
“It’s over here,” Fang Xi stood up to help him. “There’s some on this side.”
“Stay seated, both of you. I’ll get it,” Luo Xiao’yu replied, carrying his plate around to the other side of the long table.
With both of their attention momentarily diverted, Luo Qi took the opportunity to cover the little snake on his lap with his hand, nudging it toward his sleeve. Taking the hint, the snake expertly climbed onto his wrist and slipped into his sleeve, coiling itself around his left arm.
“Brother, which one do you want?”
“Anything is fine,” Luo Qi said, pushing his plate over with his right hand. “Just grab a few for me.”
Luo Xiao’yu brought snacks for everyone and poured coffee and tea. The three of them sat leisurely in rattan chairs, enjoying the afternoon.
Luo Qi, however, wasn’t nearly as relaxed. He barely ate, his right hand occasionally reaching under the table to slip into his left sleeve. They were sitting at the end of the long table, each occupying a side. With Fang Xi across from him and Luo Xiao’yu to his right, the tablecloth provided enough cover to hide any unusual movements.
The little snake was restless, shifting around inside the sleeve and rubbing its scales against his skin as it adjusted its position.
Luo Xiao’yu was a chatterbox, especially around people he knew well. He talked about his company, the places he’d traveled, and the people he’d met. Luo Qi listened patiently, offering only the occasional response. Fang Xi took it upon himself to keep the conversation flowing, and the two of them became quite engaged.
Luo Qi’s mind, meanwhile, was entirely elsewhere.
He glanced down out of the corner of his eye. The little snake had poked half of its head out, its flickering tongue repeatedly licking the back of his hand. It wasn’t just the back of his hand, either, it was exploring his knuckles and the gaps between his fingers, leaving them damp.
Because its tongue was so small, the moisture evaporated quickly. Whenever it did, the snake would poke its head out again to repeat the process, making his skin itch. He tried to stop it with his right hand, but the snake simply started licking his right fingers too.
What is this thing doing? he wondered. Isn’t its rut over already?
Luo Qi had to use a bit of force, pinching its head to push it back into the sleeve while covering it entirely with his palm. Suddenly, he felt a warm, snug sensation around his finger, followed by several tiny, tooth-like points pressing against his knuckle.
Wait, teeth?
“Brother, is there anyone?” Luo Xiao’yu looked at him, his expression tense.
Luo Qi looked up, his long eyelashes fluttering as his mind quickly processed the last few seconds of their conversation.
“Are you asking if there’s someone I’ve taken a liking to?” he asked, confirming the question.
“Yes,” Luo Xiao’yu nodded, unconsciously biting his lip. “Is there?”
He stared intently at Luo Qi’s face, trying to find any clue. His brother seemed a bit distracted today.
“No,” Luo Qi gave a faint smile, his hands resting beneath the tablecloth. “What made you ask all of a sudden?”
Luo Xiao’yu’s expression relaxed. “Oh, just gossiping.”
“So, can I come with you to Southern Star this time?”
“You can apply to come once I’ve finished my work,” Luo Qi said. “That way, I’ll actually have time to spend with you.”
Southern Star was a unique location. Most people could only stay there temporarily with a permit, permanent residency was prohibited. If Luo Xiao’yu wanted to go, he’d have to wait for his permit to be approved.
“Okay,” Luo Xiao’yu agreed obediently. “When do you leave, Brother?”
“I have to wait for the documents to be cleared. It’ll probably be another month.”
“Then I’ll go submit my application in the next few days.”
“That works.”
“I’ve never been to Southern Star before. I really want to visit the underwater tunnel. I heard there are merfolk there…”
As Luo Xiao’yu continued to chatter, Fang Xi chimed in, his eyes occasionally drifting toward Luo Qi.
Luo Qi cautiously tried to withdraw his finger. Fortunately, it came free quite easily. He was certain the naughty snake had bitten him, though it hadn’t broken the skin.
Luo Qi rubbed his fingertip, checking the sensation. It wasn’t slimy as he had expected, just slightly damp. He searched his memory for anything he’d read in snake-keeping manuals, but he couldn’t recall snakes ever behaving this way. It felt more like the calculated action of an intelligent creature with a specific purpose.
So, what was it doing? Was it hungry? Or was it just being stubborn and playful, like a kitten or a puppy?
While enjoying tea, Luo Qi remained preoccupied, his right hand frequently checking the status of the snake in his left sleeve. Perhaps it had grown tired of playing, because after that one bite, it stopped fussing and settled quietly against his arm.
“It’s getting late. Shall we head out?” Fang Xi noted the darkening sky and checked the time.
“Let’s go. I need to stop by my room first, you two head over,” Luo Qi said, rising from his chair. “Xiao’yu, get in touch with Roy. I’ll leave the two of them to you.”
“Don’t worry, Brother. We’ll wait for you inside.”
“Good.”
The group left the garden. Luo Qi walked alone toward the small electric shuttle and entered his room number, 11301.
“We are departing. Please remain seated,” a robotic voice announced from above.
The shuttle was circular with seating along the interior wall. The exterior was made of one-way glass, allowing it to function as a sightseeing vehicle. It wound its way through the greenery before reaching the hotel building, where it transitioned into a low-altitude flight and ascended into the elevator tower.
The tower allowed direct access to the 11th floor, providing a private route that bypassed the public elevators. However, it couldn’t prevent encounters with other guests on the same floor.
Just as Luo Qi stepped out of the shuttle, he ran straight into someone. The man was clearly an Alpha, tall and dressed in a hoodie, with a clean-cut appearance. Seeing Luo Qi, he stepped directly into his path.
Luo Qi stopped. His eyes fell on a leather bag the man was carrying, which was embossed with a black-and-white snake scale pattern.
“I’m sorry,” the man said, appearing flustered and youthful. “I know this is sudden. I’m an actor, my name is Shen Yizhou. You probably don’t know me, but, but…”
Luo Qi looked up at him. His pale blue eyes remained unmoved, his expression calm and indifferent. It was as if he were looking at a lifeless object.
The young man seemed intimidated by the look. The volume of his last few words dropped significantly. “…Could I get your autograph?”
“An autograph,” Luo Qi said coldly. “You want my handwriting.”
Shen Yizhou froze. Realizing the General might have misinterpreted his intentions, he explained hurriedly, “No, I mean, I’m actually a fan of yours.”
He took a breath to steady himself and cleared his throat.
“You’re my idol. I’ve followed your career for a long time,” he said, offering a small notebook with both hands. “I really like you, I mean, I’m a huge fan. I’ve read all your articles, especially the one about Planet Cyfra. You’re truly incredible.”
“So… I was wondering if I could be so bold as to ask for a signature, or even just a few sketches. I’d love to keep it as a memento.”
He bowed his head, his ears turning bright red. He kept his back slightly arched to ensure his head remained lower than Luo Qi’s line of sight, hiding the fanaticism in his eyes.
Luo Qi looked down at the back of the man’s head, then his gaze slid back to the leather bag. A sincere fan.
But Luo Qi didn’t like it.
He rarely returned to the capital planet, so he almost never encountered situations like this. The last time someone had asked for his signature was a subordinate bringing him documents to sign. Combined with his nearly reclusive lifestyle, even after interviews, he would be whisked away in a private car. The media could never catch him, let alone “fans.”
Luo Qi wasn’t an idol, he was a soldier. He didn’t care for “fans,” especially not a fan who happened to be carrying a bag that looked like it was made of snake skin.
He felt the little snake in his left sleeve squirming, its flat little head poking out slightly. He covered his wrist with his right hand, gently nudging the head back in.
“That bag in your hand, what is it made of?” he asked bluntly. “Snake skin?”
“The bag?” Shen Yizhou was caught off guard. “You mean this?”
He shook the large bag hanging from his arm. His assistant had shoved it at him earlier, and it was filled with various items and scripts.
“Yes.”
“This,” he hesitated for a moment before answering firmly, “No, it’s not. I know that using snake skin is illegal.”
Technically, it wasn’t entirely illegal, as certain types could be used. But his intuition told him that wasn’t the right answer. In truth, he wasn’t entirely sure what the bag was made of.
“But it’s embossed with scales,” Luo Qi said. “It looks very realistic.”
“It’s an imitation, Admiral Luo…”
“Then I’m sorry,” Luo Qi interrupted him. “I don’t like people who carry snake skin bags.”
Shen Yizhou froze in his bow, his hand holding the notebook trembling slightly. Luo Qi walked past the man, who remained doubled over, and went straight to his room.
He closed the door, took off his coat, and sat down by the snake’s enclosure, resting his elbows on the table.
“Did you have fun?” He poked the snake’s snout as it emerged. “Did you bite my hand today?”
The little snake’s head recoiled slightly.
“Why did you bite me? I told you, I don’t like pets that bite.”
The snake continued to shrink back, eventually resting its head on his wrist. It pulled its tail out and tapped it against the table, wiggling it back and forth.
“What are you trying to say?” Luo Qi’s lips curled into a smile. “That I’ve wronged you?”
Seeing him smile, the snake began to draw circles with the tip of its tail.
He preferred it when his little morsel laughed sincerely.
The little morsel had even chased away that two-legged Alpha with the snake skin bag for him. He didn’t actually care, a god wouldn’t concern themselves with a piece of discarded skin, but the human’s gesture was quite endearing.
The little snake basked in the human’s soft, warm touch, moved by his tenderness, its head resting obediently in his palm.
“Did you see that snake skin bag just now?”
Hearing the question, the snake responded eagerly by drawing circles with its tail. Luo Qi cupped the snake in both hands, his smile pure and flawless.
“If you ever bite me again, I’ll turn you into a bag just like that.”
The wiggling tip of the snake’s tail froze.
“How does that sound?”
