- Chapter 50 - That Day I Almost Thought I Reached Out and Touched the Sun , Almost
Li Muli bit her lip as she stared at the sent message, feeling an inexplicable nervousness in her heart.
“You’re back, my sexy beauty,” the man said, scooping the girl out from under the blanket and placing her on his lap, teasing her with a light laugh.
Li Muli buried her head in his chest, feeling a bit shy, and let out an involuntary soft whimper.
That delicate, tender sound sent shivers all over Fu Chengyan’s body.
He had truly been restraining himself for a long time.
The man caressed the girl’s slender waist, nuzzling his head against the crook of her neck. “Wife, I want to see an affectionate, clingy, sexy beauty.”
The girl pushed him down, pinning him beneath her, and with a soft murmur, pressed her lips to his.
Fu Chengyan quickly reclaimed the initiative, turning the tables.
The room was filled with an intimate, enchanting atmosphere.
At some point, even the moon blushed and quietly hid behind the clouds.
“I heard the subject of today’s shoot is the recently viral actress Li Muli.”
“It’s great to be famous she’s already landed such an important magazine.”
“But I heard Jason has a bit of a temper.”
Li Muli overheard two young girls whispering about her not far away and smiled faintly.
Gossip is human nature.
As soon as Jason arrived on set, he was captivated by the scene before him.
The girl had slightly wavy long hair, and her delicate collarbone was faintly visible. Dressed predominantly in black and red, the fabric of her top clung tightly to her body, with a black ribbon cinched at her waist, accentuating her curvaceous figure perfectly, sexy yet with a touch of playfulness.
Her legs were crossed elegantly, her red lips slightly upturned, and her bright eyes exuded charm.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he captured that instant in a snapshot.
Li Muli quickly caught on and cooperated with the photographer.
Jason’s eyes lit up, this was a face heaven itself had blessed. Some people were just born for the camera.
With almost no guidance needed, every frame was exquisitely perfect.
“Not bad, not bad at all. Is this your first magazine shoot?” Jason asked after the session, stroking his nonexistent beard with a smile of praise.
Li Muli nodded gently. “Yes, Teacher Jason.”
“This is my business card. I hope we can collaborate more in the future.”
The man cheerfully handed his card to Li Muli. A perfect model could provide an excellent photographer with endless inspiration.
Undoubtedly, the girl had not only saved him time.
Suppressing her inner excitement, Li Muli accepted it calmly. “Thank you, Teacher Jason. I hope so too.”
“Good, good, good.”
Three “goods” in a row, anyone could see how pleased he was.
The work wrapped up quickly. Li Muli grinned, linking arms with Zhuang Lin and cooing, “Praise me, praise me! I did so well!”
Zhuang Lin gently tapped her forehead and laughed. “You were amazing.”
And why wouldn’t she be?
She starred in one TV series and became a hit along with the show. Even her boyfriend profited enormously from it.
She participated in a magazine shoot and, despite Jason’s notorious temper, finished quickly and even received his business card.
There was nothing she set out to do that she didn’t accomplish.
“Zhuang Jie, treat me to a meal~”
“Got it~”
Watching the girl’s bright, vivid smile, Zhuang Lin felt as if her own world had become more vibrant too.
Staying close to the sun warms you with its radiance.
“By the way, that video was released by Tan Yueli.”
Li Muli raised an eyebrow, she had suspected it was her all along.
After returning to the country, she had voluntarily chosen to stay in a hotel. That move of retreating to advance was played quite well.
Then let her keep hopping around.
Let her see what tricks she actually has up her sleeve.
She might as well learn a thing or two.
“Never mind her for now, let’s go play, eat, drink, and indulge.”
Zhuang Lin: “…” It must be nice to be so carefree.
The two of them ate, drank, and made merry until evening. It wasn’t until Li Muli’s voice grew hoarse from singing that she finally sat down on the sofa to rest.
The message box was empty.
The last time someone was this quiet was well, the last time.
Li Muli frowned slightly, pursed her lips, a little displeased.
Last night, he couldn’t seem to get enough of her, and today he’s vanished without a trace.
“Muli, let me take you home first,” Zhuang Lin patted the frowning girl’s shoulder.
Li Muli didn’t refuse but remained somewhat silent the whole way.
When she got home, the house was pitch dark, so quiet it felt deserted.
“Ayan,” she called out softly as she turned on the light and saw the man sitting casually on the floor.
As if stung by the brightness, he raised the back of his hand to shield his eyes slightly.
But he remained silent.
Li Muli frowned and stepped forward, crouching in front of him. “What’s wrong?” she coaxed gently.
“Baby,” his voice was hoarse from not speaking for so long.
Li Muli wrapped her arms around him, and the man buried his head in the crook of her neck without saying a word.
“Ayan, talk to me, please.”
A scalding tear fell onto her neck, burning hot.
After a long pause, the man seemed to struggle to speak. “Baby, do you love me?”
“Of course I do. How could I not?”
A light, mocking laugh sounded by the girl’s ear, cold and sarcastic.
The man seemed to snap out of it, releasing the person in his arms and looking at her as he spoke, word by word:
“I’ve met him. I’m going to do everything I can to win him over, take revenge on him, make him love but not have me, make him suffer unbearably.
I want him to love me, to want only me, to need me desperately.
Fu Chenyan, I’m determined to have him.”
“Surprisingly, he was easy to get close to. It’s strange, he shouldn’t have been like that.”
“I didn’t expect him to seek me out on his own. The prey fell into my hands so quickly. Fu Chenyan, the game has begun.”
Li Muli’s expression shifted. This was the diary entry she had written right after she was reborn. She admitted it was indeed her initial intention.
It had been so long, she had almost forgotten.
Indeed, an insincere beginning doesn’t even leave room for excuses.
“Baby, can you explain to me what this is?” The man lowered his gaze, looking defeated and desolate.
He was completely enveloped in despair.
Li Muli pursed her lips, only able to call out his name, “Ayan.”
Even she didn’t know what to say in her defense.
“Baby, lie to me. Just make up any explanation and lie to me, please,” the man suddenly reached out and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, as if trying to press her into his very being.
Seeing the person in his arms remain silent, Fu Chenyan loosened his grip slightly but still held onto her waist, murmuring under his breath, “You said you loved me, baby.”
A tear slid onto the back of her hand and slowly disappeared.
Li Muli wrapped her arms around his strong waist, murmuring almost wordlessly, “I do love you, Ayan…”
“Explain that this is fake, please.”
He would rather she lied and continued to deceive him than face things as they were now.
She was a natural-born actress; he couldn’t tell the difference.
All he knew was that he was the prey.
And he loved her. The prey had fallen in love with the hunter.
But the hunter, how could she ever know?
Li Muli watched the man’s desolate and despairing appearance, her heart aching with sharp, rhythmic pains. Forcing herself to speak, she said, “A Yan, if I told you I truly love you, would you believe me?”
Fu Chengyan seemed to curl his lips slightly and nodded.
He knew clearly that she wouldn’t explain.
She was such a proud and stubborn person.
After a long moment, he lifted the girl onto the bed, gently leaned in to kiss the corner of her lips, and pulled away almost instantly.
Then, forcing a faint smile, he said, “Baby, let’s both calm down for a while,” and turned to leave.
He wanted to calm himself, to stop obsessing over the so-called answers.
Li Muli felt her heart sink abruptly. Even before losing him, the pain had already spiraled beyond her control.
Desolate and lonely, that was the sight of his retreating back.
Long and agonizing, that was the night without each other.
