- Chapter 45 - A Yi, A Yan So Was He His Replacement?
Li Muli knew that her A Yan would always respect her, so she wasn’t afraid of Fu Chenyan following her.
But she never expected Fu Chenyan to break his usual pattern.
Li Muli arrived at the “Daily Fate Takoyaki” snack shop and immediately spotted the man in the burgundy suit.
Her intuition told her it was him.
As she approached, she saw a man with an almost bewitching appearance, his narrow phoenix eyes slightly upturned, exuding a captivating charm.
Noticing her, the man curved his thin lips into a pleasant smile.
The burgundy suit and her burgundy cheongsam complemented each other perfectly.
“Let’s get acquainted I’m Wen Ciyi,” the man introduced himself with a constant smile, extending his hand.
“Li Muli.”
Wen Ciyi pushed the snack in front of her and gazed gently at the girl. “Your favorite sweet and spicy takoyaki.”
Li Muli frowned deeply. She was almost certain she didn’t know such an enchantingly handsome man.
Yet this person seemed to know everything about her.
Even her favorite burgundy clothing.
Her beautiful eyes turned icy, a cold gleam flashing within. “Do we know each other?”
She disliked this feeling of being out of control.
“Silly A Li, have you forgotten me?” The curve of Wen Ciyi’s lips drooped slightly, making him appear melancholic and fragile.
“You said you wanted to marry Brother A Yi when you grew up.”
“Brother A Yi came to find you, but you don’t remember me.”
The man, with his head lowered, seemed sorrowful and vulnerable at that moment.
Li Muli suddenly felt as if she had fallen into an ice cellar she seemed to realize who he was,
“Little one, why are you crying?” A handsome young boy crouched in front of her, gently patting her head.
“Go away, don’t touch me.”
The stubborn, contrary little girl shoved his hand away, like a small hedgehog wanting only to protect herself.
The boy seemed to chuckle softly, crouching beside her and quietly keeping her company.
Hearing no sound, little Muli secretly lifted her head to peek, only to meet his smiling eyes.
With a loud “wah,” she burst into tears again, this time out of embarrassment.
The boy seemed startled for a moment, then ran off.
Little Muli pouted, he didn’t even try to comfort her.
A short while later, the boy came running back, handing her a rose, panting heavily. “The most beautiful rose for the cutest little fairy. Don’t cry anymore, little fairy.”
Pouting, little Muli accepted it, sniffling as she asked, “Who are you?”
“You can call me Brother A Yi.”
“Then you call me A Li.”
“Silly A Li, such an adorable little fairy looks so much prettier when she smiles.” The boy leaned in again, patting her shoulder gently to soothe her.
“You’re really handsome too.”
Little Muli mustered the courage to poke the corner of his smiling lips, and the boy’s smile widened even more.
“Little brother, you’re so handsome. Can A Li marry you someday?”
“Muli, time to go home.” Li Shiming called out to her from a distance.
“Goodbye, little brother.” The girl waved at him.
A Yi, A Yan.
So had she mistaken him for someone else?
Li Muli’s heart raced wildly. She pressed a hand to her chest, forcing herself to ask, “Are you the little brother who gave me the rose?”
Hearing this, Wen Ciyi’s smile grew even more radiant and enchanting. “It seems silly A Li has remembered me.”
“I have something to do, I need to go.” Nearly panicked, Li Muli scrambled to escape in a fluster.
Her heart was in turmoil.
Back then, she had cried her heart out, and she heard him say, “Call me Brother A-Yan.”
She inquired everywhere in H City, looking for someone handsome and from a prominent family and eventually learned that the person was named Fu Chenyan.
When she saw him again later, no matter how cold he was, she firmly believed he was the young man who had given her roses.
She thought he had simply forgotten her.
It never crossed her mind that he wasn’t that person.
She wanted to see him.
Just one meeting would be enough.
What she didn’t know was that Fu Chenyan, not far from her, rushed in after she left and grabbed Wen Ciyi by the collar.
His voice was deep and gloomy, “What did you say to her?”
Wen Ciyi curled his thin lips into a smile, “I’ve never seen President Fu so angry before.”
“Wen Ciyi, don’t push my limits.”
Wen Ciyi, driven by a surge of anger, punched Fu Chenyan in the face, “Hah.”
Fu Chenyan retaliated with a punch to his abdomen, causing the man to groan in pain. Just as Wen Ciyi was about to strike back, he noticed the girl standing not far away.
The man instantly fell to the ground, clutching his stomach, his face contorted in agony.
“Fu Chenyan.”
The girl’s soft voice rang out, and Fu Chenyan froze, unsure how to explain why he was there.
Li Muli stepped forward and gently hugged the man, soothing him softly, “Be good, don’t be angry.”
Then she walked over to Wen Ciyi, her expression calm, “Can you get up?”
“I can’t,” the man said, his devilishly handsome face showing pain.
Li Muli reached out her hand, but Fu Chenyan stopped her, pulling the man up from the ground, “I’ll call an ambulance for you if you can’t.”
Wen Ciyi gritted his teeth, grinding them audibly, “No need.”
After taking a few steps, he turned back and blew a kiss to Li Muli, “See you next time, silly A-Li.”
Fu Chenyan’s expression grew increasingly dark, his cold eyes heavy as he turned away icily.
For the first time, the two fell into a mutual silence.
Li Muli was certain that even if she had mistaken him for someone else, the one she loved was still Fu Chenyan.
Even if she had once felt a fleeting flutter for that bright young boy in her youth.
She closed her eyes as if sighing softly, but the man held her tightly in his arms, burying his head in the crook of her neck.
His voice was low and hoarse, “I’m sorry, baby. I shouldn’t have followed you.”
“But I really didn’t hear anything. I was afraid he would hurt you.”
The girl let out a soft whimper and kissed his hair, “A-Yan, I don’t blame you. Just don’t be so impulsive next time.”
“Such a handsome face shouldn’t be hurt by him.”
Both of them tacitly avoided mentioning that man.
He wanted to ask why they had met.
He wanted to ask what exactly they had talked about.
He wanted to ask why he had called her so intimately.
He wanted to ask if they had known each other long.
He didn’t dare ask, nor did he want to know.
He tried to gloss over the truth, so that his girl would still belong to him completely.
“Baby, let’s go back to the country,” the man murmured softly, nuzzling her shoulder.
“Baby, I’ve written two love letters for you. I’ll read them to you when we get back, okay?”
“Baby, I love you so much.”
It was like a whisper, like a soft confession.
Li Muli was slightly dazed; he was afraid.
“Go back and read me the love letters, A-Yan.”
“Okay.”
As long as you still love me, as long as you want me.
Anything is fine.
Li Muli glanced at the man and hooked her finger under his chin, “Did you praise me?”
“Yes.”
“Did you say lots and lots of sweet nothings?”
“Yes.”
“Then, Mr. Fu, would you like to participate in the ‘buy two, get one free’ promotion?”
The man clearly sensed that the girl was trying to cheer him up and nodded, “Sure.”
“What about A-Li’s love letter?”
Li Muli pouted her little mouth and cooed in a sweet, pleading voice, “Lili is still working on it.”
“By then, Mr. Fu is sure to be moved by me.”
Li Muli: With this, how could I not win you over?
