From Trashy A to the Heiress’s Little Son-in-Law After the Idol Competition (GL, ABO) - Chapter 102
“Why are you back?” Discovering an extra person in the house, Gu Zhen thought for a moment she was still living abroad with that woman when she saw her face.
Gu Qingyun stood there in a tailored suit, her hair cascading over her shoulders, her cold gaze resembling that of a debt collector. She scanned the room, taking in the decor with visible dissatisfaction, her tone icy. “Am I not welcome here?”
Lin Chuyin, sensing the growing tension between mother and daughter, quickly intervened. “Mother came back just to see you.”
Gu Zhen let out a dry laugh. “Then I suppose I should welcome her.”
Gu Qingyun sat down on the sofa as if no one else were present. “You seem to be living quite comfortably in Lancheng. Do you plan to stay here permanently?”
Gu Zhen handed her suit jacket to Lin Chuyin and shoved her hands into her pockets. “That’s right. As long as it’s not abroad, anywhere is better.”
“Or is it that you just don’t want to see me?” Gu Qingyun suddenly retorted.
Their exchange lacked any trace of mother-daughter warmth—instead, it felt more like a confrontation between enemies.
Lin Chuyin grew anxious, gripping Gu Zhen’s arm tightly.
“I received some news,” Gu Qingyun said lightly, picking up a magazine from the coffee table. “The Xiao family, once a pillar of Lancheng, has fallen from grace. But it seems Xiao Yanjin, the Xiao heir, was recently exposed—she isn’t Xiao Liangmu’s daughter after all.”
A cold glint flashed in Gu Zhen’s eyes. “So she’s not a Xiao? What does it matter? She’s married into the Ji family now as a live-in son-in-law. By rights, she’s one of them.”
Gu Qingyun slammed the magazine onto the table. “Outrageous! A former rich second-generation Alpha, reduced to marrying an Omega as a dependent!”
Gu Zhen smirked. “So what? She’s happy. Or do you plan to force them to divorce?”
Gu Qingyun stood abruptly, locking eyes with her daughter.
Though mother and daughter, they bore little resemblance at first glance. Gu Zhen took more after her mother.
Lin Chuyin’s expression darkened, and she quickly sent a message summoning Gu Yourong. Right now, only her granddaughter could rein in Gu Qingyun.
“You already knew, didn’t you?” Gu Qingyun demanded.
Gu Zhen stared back unblinking. “And you didn’t? The head of the Gu family has eyes and ears in every corner of the world—all to track down her long-lost second daughter, isn’t that right?”
Gu Qingyun’s gaze remained frigid. “If you knew, why didn’t you tell me?”
Gu Zhen scoffed. “So she could acknowledge you? Dream on. Her real family is the one that raised her, not you! To her, you’re just a stranger. What right do you have to demand recognition—”
Before she could finish, Gu Qingyun slapped her across the face.
It wasn’t the first time—but it was the first since Gu Zhen had become a mother.
In the past, slaps had been a common punishment.
“Mother!” Lin Chuyin cried out, immediately pulling Gu Zhen into her arms, tenderly soothing her reddened cheek. “A-Zhen isn’t wrong. She’s your daughter too. Why do you only care about the other one?”
“Enough.” Gu Qingyun flicked her wrist dismissively. “I came here to meet her. Whether she likes it or not, she will acknowledge me. She needs to know she has a mother!”
With that, she straightened her collar and strode out.
Lin Chuyin held her wife close, feeling the faint tremors in her body. Pressing her forehead to Gu Zhen’s, she whispered softly,
“It’s okay. It’s okay.”
“Sister.” Gu Zhen murmured softly, “Why is she so stubborn? I feel like I’m not even her biological daughter anymore.”
Lin Chuyin remained silent. Though Gu Zhen appeared cold on the surface, she was actually starved for affection—otherwise she wouldn’t have constantly clung to her as a child, treating her like a second mother.
Suddenly, someone entered through the door. Gu Yourong stared blankly at the two mothers embracing each other and asked, “Where’s grandma?”
They both turned their heads simultaneously. Gu Yourong was even more shocked to see the red mark and tear stains on Gu Zhen’s face.
Gu Zhen quickly wiped away her tears and said coldly, “Since she insists on recognizing relatives, I’ll just wait to see her get rejected and become a laughingstock!”
–
Early in the morning, Ji Yunuo woke up in Xiao Yanjin’s arms. Gazing at her alpha wife’s face, she nuzzled against her contentedly.
Xiao Yanjin was tickled awake by her fluffy hair and stroked it gently, smiling as she asked, “Wife?”
Ji Yunuo intertwined their fingers. “I can’t sleep anymore.”
“We didn’t go to bed early last night, and pregnant women usually love sleeping. How come you can’t sleep now?” Xiao Yanjin asked perceptively.
Ji Yunuo replied, “Have you forgotten? We have that prenatal safety knowledge class today.”
Xiao Yanjin made an understanding sound. A few days ago, she had inexplicably signed up for a prenatal safety course. Though she already knew all the material, she still felt it wasn’t enough. The class also included a couples’ interaction segment aimed at alleviating depression in expectant mothers, so she thought of bringing Ji Yunuo along.
Ji Yunuo, who had been feeling cooped up at home, had also agreed, planning to visit the park in the evening afterward.
Xiao Yanjin kissed her and said, “That class starts pretty early, so we should get going.”
Ji Yunuo wrapped her arms around Xiao Yanjin’s neck and said shyly, “But right now, I just want to be alone with you.”
Xiao Yanjin smirked. “Didn’t big sister get enough last night?”
Ji Yunuo glared at her playfully. “What kind of dirty thoughts are you having?”
Ji Yunuo didn’t understand the term “dirty thoughts” at first. She first heard it when Xiao Yanjin scolded Shi Zhengyi—because while they were in the middle of an intimate moment, Shi Zhengyi suddenly called.
It turned out that Shi Zhengyi and He Rou had grown unsatisfied with just kissing and wanted to take things further. Unfortunately, though Shi Zhengyi had watched plenty of instructional videos, she still lacked practical experience. So while He Rou was showering, she called Xiao Yanjin, who was far more experienced, for advice.
Xiao Yanjin enthusiastically explained a few key points before adding disdainfully, “But this kind of thing really depends on an alpha’s natural talent.”
Shi Zhengyi seemed insulted and snapped, “Xiao Yanjin, who the hell are you insulting?!”
Xiao Yanjin shrugged. “Don’t take it personally. I was just trying to brag about my own skills.”
Shi Zhengyi was furious but couldn’t retaliate—she was certain Xiao Yanjin had been belittling her.
Whatever Shi Zhengyi said next made Xiao Yanjin frown and retort, “What kind of dirty thoughts are you having?” Ji Yunuo happened to overhear this.
Later, Ji Yunuo asked, “What does ‘dirty thoughts’ mean?”
Xiao Yanjin, who had learned the term from online forums where people insulted men, explained it in her ear.
After understanding, Ji Yunuo muttered, “Then her brain really isn’t working right.”
The teased Shi Zhengyi was still holding He Rou tightly. After getting together, the two were inseparable, constantly stealing kisses. Though they lived together, they hadn’t shared a bed yet, but their relationship progressed rapidly—already reaching the stage of bathing together and admiring each other’s bodies. Last night, they had their first intimate encounter, which went exceptionally well, mainly because He Rou was so knowledgeable and took the lead, leaving Shi Zhengyi unable to sleep all night, having played the role of the “pillow princess.”
Gazing affectionately at He Rou, Shi Zhengyi watched until she woke up. He Rou’s face was still slightly flushed from last night, when they had done nothing more than kiss and nibble in bed. With a soft moan, she asked, “What time is it?”
Shi Zhengyi told her the time, and He Rou exclaimed, “So late already!”
“It doesn’t matter. Didn’t we agree to take time off work these days?” Shi Zhengyi replied with a shy smile.
He Rou kissed her, her body languid from the previous night’s caresses, exuding a mature, womanly allure. Shi Zhengyi’s heart itched with desire as she placed a hand on He Rou’s belly. “Rou Rou, how was I last night?”
He Rou thought for a moment—hadn’t she been the one taking charge? But knowing an alpha’s pride, she nodded. “So good I want more.”
Shi Zhengyi’s confidence soared instantly. “Then should we…?” Before she could finish, her face flushed several shades redder.
He Rou rolled over, pinning her beneath her. Initially, she had intended to make Shi Zhengyi hold back, thinking it wasn’t ideal to move so fast with an alpha. But in the end, she found herself unable to resist—Shi Zhengyi’s looks grew more captivating the longer she looked, making her want to tease her until she cried in her arms. With a smirk, He Rou whispered, “Little A, let big sister teach you.”
By the time they finally got ready and left, they were already running late. But Xiao Yanjin wasn’t worried—with a pregnant woman in tow, rushing wasn’t an option.
No sooner had they left than Gu Qingyun arrived at the Ji household. Ji Zhiye, still at work, hurried home upon hearing of Gu Qingyun’s visit. Meanwhile, Wei Qin chatted with the unexpected guest, surprised that the head of the Gu family had come in person.
“President Gu, you should have let us know you were coming,” Wei Qin said with a smile.
Gu Qingyun cut straight to the point. “I heard Xiao Yanjin from the Xiao family married your eldest daughter. Where is she?”
Wei Qin was even more taken aback—had she come solely for Xiao Yanjin? “She’s out with my daughter.”
Gu Qingyun frowned. “Where? I must find her.”
Wei Qin found the renowned CEO’s lack of decorum puzzling. “What exactly do you want with her?”
“Mrs. Ji, please tell me. It’s urgent—I must speak with her!”
At the classroom, the instructor suggested the pregnant woman attend alone first, leaving Xiao Yanjin waiting outside. Suddenly needing the restroom, she hurried off—only to bump into Gu Qingyun rushing up the stairs, accompanied by Ji Zhiye.
Xiao Yanjin glanced at Ji Zhiye and smiled. “Mother, who is this?”
Gu Qingyun suddenly embraced her, startling Xiao Yanjin—such direct physical contact was unexpected.
Then, in a choked voice, Gu Qingyun said, “I’ve finally found you… my daughter!”
Xiao Yanjin had only been gone for a minute when Ji Yunuo felt someone sit down in her vacated seat. Without looking up, she asked, “Why did you come back in?”
The moment an unfamiliar hand touched hers, she jolted in surprise.
Xiao Yanjin was still confused until she realized the person before her was none other than Gu Qingyun. That was when it dawned on her—perhaps that long-kept secret was about to be exposed.
Ji Zhiye couldn’t fathom why Gu Qingyun was being so unusually warm toward Xiao Yanjin. Come to think of it, when the two weren’t standing side by side, she hadn’t noticed anything, but now that they were together, there was an uncanny resemblance.
“Come with me,” Gu Qingyun said, firmly gripping Xiao Yanjin’s hand. Ji Zhiye frowned. “President Gu, you can’t just take someone away like this.”
Xiao Yanjin felt it was time to talk to her. Turning to Ji Zhiye, she said, “Mother, my sister is still in class. When she comes out, take her home first. I’ll be back tonight.”
Once inside the car, Gu Qingyun stared at Xiao Yanjin for a long, long time before finally letting out a wistful laugh. “Child… you…”
“Oh, hello, President Gu,” Xiao Yanjin replied politely.
Gu Qingyun froze, fighting back tears. “I’m not ‘President Gu’ to you. You know you’re not really a Xiao, don’t you? I… I’m your birth mother. Look at us—don’t we resemble each other?”
Xiao Yanjin chuckled. “President Gu, you’re mistaken. I may know I’m not a Xiao by blood, but they still recognize me as their daughter. That makes me one of them.”
Gu Qingyun’s smile vanished, her expression turning icy. She seized Xiao Yanjin’s hand, her voice sharp. “Did Gu Zhen say something to you? Is that why you refuse to acknowledge me? You carry my blood—you are my daughter, and that will never change!”
Xiao Yanjin pulled her hand away, her tone equally cold. “So what if I share your blood? You abandoned me. The Xiao family raised me. They are my parents.”
“I never abandoned you! I’ve been searching for you all this time!” Gu Qingyun panicked, her thoughts racing—Gu Zhen must have threatened Xiao Yanjin into refusing to acknowledge her!
“Enough. Let me out,” Xiao Yanjin said, reaching for the door, but it wouldn’t open. She frowned. “President Gu, open the door.”
“I want you to meet someone,” Gu Qingyun said, her bright eyes darkening with something unreadable.
In the end, she took Xiao Yanjin with her.
Gu Zhen sat stiffly on the sofa, posture rigid.
Lin Chuyin and Gu Yourong sat nearby, the latter baffled by the strange tension between her parents. She had a feeling something monumental was about to be revealed.
Soon, Gu Qingyun and Xiao Yanjin entered. Without preamble, Gu Qingyun lashed out at Gu Zhen. “How could you be so cold to your own sister? No matter what, she’s still your flesh and blood!”
“What?!” Gu Yourong blurted out in the stunned silence. Xiao Yanjin was her mother’s sister? That would make her… her aunt?!
Gu Zhen glanced at Xiao Yanjin, who remained indifferent.
With a faint smile, Gu Zhen said, “Madam Ji, long time no see.”
“Likewise, President Gu,” Xiao Yanjin replied, smiling back.
This made Gu Qingyun feel like a complete fool. Her eyes widened as she glared at Xiao Yanjin and said, “How did Gu Zhen threaten you? Why aren’t you shocked or surprised by this news? I’m your biological mother!”
“Ms. Gu, whether you’re my biological mother or not doesn’t matter anymore. I’m doing perfectly fine now,” Xiao Yanjin shrugged.
All she wanted now was to grow old with her beloved, children, family, and friends.
Whether she belonged to the Xiao family, Ji family, or Gu family—none of it mattered anymore.
Gu Qingyun fell silent for a long time. She had thought that upon finding this child, she would see traces of the person she once loved. But while this child bore some resemblance to her, their personalities, tones, and mannerisms were worlds apart.
She had wanted to shower this child with twelvefold parental love, but the child had already received more than enough affection.
“Gu Zhen!” Gu Qingyun screamed hysterically.
