Four Years Ago, Her Husband Cheated on Her Body - Chapter 11
Ding dong—
The crisp notification sound echoed through the 26th floor of Rayco Group headquarters, the floor housing the executive offices.
This floor dealt with the company’s core business, and typically, only employees at the level of department manager or above were authorized to enter. The security level was the highest.
Outside the elevator doors, two tall bodyguards in black stood on the left and right.
Their hands were clasped behind their backs, and each wore a walkie-talkie earpiece, ready to communicate with colleagues positioned elsewhere.
Hearing the elevator doors slide open, the two bodyguards looked over alertly.
A beauty in a black cloak stepped out of the elevator. The hood obscured most of their face, revealing only a very slender figure.
A delicate, boneless hand tightly clutched the lapel of the cloak over their chest, and their head was bowed low, like a piece of fragile art.
The bodyguard on the left immediately extended an arm to block them. “Stop! Who are you? Unauthorized entry is not permitted on this floor.”
The black-cloaked beauty seemed terribly startled, retreating half a step. In a voice close to a whisper, they offered an explanation.
“Someone asked me to come.”
As they spoke, they quickly flashed a hot-stamped golden business card in their palm before swiftly withdrawing their hand.
The bodyguard on the left was about to press for more information, but the higher-ranking bodyguard on the right shook his head and quietly reminded the beauty, “Leave as soon as you’re done. Make absolutely sure no one else sees you.”
The executive whose name was on the card was known for a scandalous private life, indulging in both men and women, and their tastes ran to extremes.
It wasn’t the first time an order like this was made for a small lover to come to the company for a little ‘office play.’
Rayco’s top leader was fully aware but, fearing damage to the company’s image, required everyone to keep silent and pretend nothing was happening if they witnessed it.
“This is even smoother than planned.”
Jia Qiao successfully infiltrated the core area of Rayco Group, thinking to themselves that the rival company truly was a huge sham, riddled with vulnerabilities.
The internal facilities of the headquarters were very comprehensive; some executives stayed overnight when they worked too late, but Fu Qingyan did not have this habit.
Jia Qiao silently approached the exterior of the President’s office, listening carefully through the door to ensure there was no sound inside. Only then did they take out the biological fingerprint cover, molded from a print lifted from the glass cup Fu Qingyan had drunk from, and slip it over their fingertip for identity verification.
“Authentication successful. Please enter.”
The mechanical voice sounded, and the office door opened in response.
Jia Qiao darted inside, quickly locking the door behind them, and pulled out a phone from their pocket to send a voice message.
“I’m in.”
To avoid being captured by security cameras, Jia Qiao had previously changed the settings to allow voice messages to be sent even when the screen was off, and received messages would automatically play through the earpiece.
Soon, a hoarse voice, pitch-shifted to sound barely alive, came through the Bluetooth headset.
“Power it on. Be careful not to leave any fingerprints.”
When drawing up the action plan earlier, Jia Qiao had asked Zoa why they needed to use a voice changer.
Zoa half-jokingly explained that their real voice was too unpleasant and they wanted to leave a good impression on Jia Qiao.
—The impression was indeed quite good.
Every time Jia Qiao heard this crudely produced, grating voice, it made the memory of Zhu Nanyu’s deep, gentle voice sound like the music of the heavens.
“Copy that.”
Jia Qiao walked straight to the President’s desk. After confirming it wouldn’t trigger an alarm, they pressed the power button on the main unit.
Rayco truly deserved its reputation as an internet giant; the computer ran incredibly fast, beating 99.99% of the country’s machines.
As planned, Jia Qiao inserted the mini USB drive Zoa had sent over into the USB port.
Instantly, the three computer screens began operating on their own, rapidly scanning all files on the local machine and the company’s internal network.
Even with Jia Qiao’s lack of technical expertise, they were genuinely impressed by this brilliant display of skill.
The progress bar moved quickly. In just ten minutes, 80% of Rayco’s files from the past three years had been scanned.
Zoa was remotely operating, looking for any hidden, encrypted files.
Jia Qiao was watching the screen intently when, suddenly, a password entry page popped up.
The cursor blinked a few times, and eight black asterisks appeared in the password box, followed by a click on ‘Confirm.’
Beep beep— Beep beep—
The next second, a piercing alarm blared without warning. The three screens simultaneously displayed a red exclamation mark, bathing the entire office in a blood-red glow.
“How insidious. We were tricked by a mirror code.”
Zoa sounded utterly unfazed. The sound of keys being tapped came through the earpiece, and the alarm system was disarmed in a few quick movements.
Although the alarm had been silenced, urgent footsteps could still be heard outside, rushing toward the President’s office.
“What do we do now?” Jia Qiao’s speaking rate had noticeably increased.
“There are still a few encrypted files that haven’t been unlocked.” Zoa pondered for a moment, then said, “To be safe, I suggest you retreat first.”
Jia Qiao quickly glanced at the progress on the screen. “How much longer do you need?”
“Four minutes and thirty seconds,” Zoa stated the precise time. The sound of keyboard tapping never stopped, and they ominously added, “But the bodyguards outside will gather and block all exits in just half a minute.”
Jia Qiao clearly didn’t take in the latter half of the sentence. They raised a hand, pressed the earpiece, and unhurriedly told them:
“No rush. I’ll give you five minutes.”
The team of bodyguards stationed outside heard the alarm and rushed toward the President’s office.
The two bodyguards at the elevator doors were the first to arrive, finding the office door locked from the inside. They immediately contacted their superior via walkie-talkie to request authorization to breach the door.
Before authorization could be granted, the office door opened from the inside.
The junior bodyguard reacted quickly and charged in first.
He didn’t even have time to see the situation inside before he felt a momentary blackout, and his body went limp, losing consciousness as he collapsed.
The other bodyguard saw this and realized he absolutely could not handle it, so he quickly turned to call for backup.
After running only two steps, his neck suddenly felt cold.
A cold, sharp, hard object was pressed precisely against his carotid artery.
“Don’t speak. Don’t look back.”
A cool voice spoke from behind him.
The bodyguard felt a viscous liquid running down the skin of his neck. He was so terrified that his body went rigid, his blood almost freezing, showing his compliance with Jia Qiao’s command through his actions.
“How many people are there in total?”
The bodyguard raised his hands tremblingly, holding up a ‘1’ with his left hand and a ‘6’ with his right.
Sixteen people.
More than expected. Dealing with them all at once would be tricky.
Jia Qiao continued to ask, “Are you the captain?”
The bodyguard nodded slightly, afraid of touching the weapon pressed against his neck.
“Very good. Now pick up your walkie-talkie and say what I tell you.” Jia Qiao watched him shakily pick up the walkie-talkie and calmly gave the first instruction. “Tell them the person is on the roof.”
The bodyguard captain was confused but still followed Jia Qiao’s instruction, shouting in the most panicked tone, “This is bad! The intruder escaped to the roof!”
Rayco Group headquarters has 28 floors. The rooftop only leads to the emergency exit staircase.
The moment the alarm sounded, the elevators had stopped operating, and security guards and employees working overtime were guarding the downstairs entrance.
For the intruder to escape, running to the rooftop and maneuvering around the bodyguards via the emergency stairs should be the last resort.
Why would they lead the bodyguards upstairs, blocking their own escape route?
About two minutes later, a report came over the walkie-talkie.
“Report, Captain, no intruder found on the rooftop! The emergency stairs are still locked!”
The bodyguard captain gripped the walkie-talkie, breaking out in a cold sweat, and looked pleadingly at Jia Qiao.
“Now tell them the person is on the 27th floor.”
The bodyguard captain followed the command, unleashing a burst of acting. He dramatically relayed, “They must have realized the rooftop was a dead end and escaped to the 27th floor! Everyone hurry and chase! Don’t let them get away!”
You’re truly wasted as a bodyguard. Switch to acting after you’re fired.
Soon, layers of footsteps sounded upstairs.
About two more minutes passed, and the walkie-talkie reported again, “Report, Captain, we’ve searched the 27th floor too! Not a soul found!”
“What now?” The bodyguard captain had clearly forgotten his stance, asking worriedly, “They’ve searched all the floors above. They’ll start searching this floor next! You’re going to be found!”
Jia Qiao calculated the time, slowly retracting the ink-stained fountain pen in their hand, and gave the final instruction:
“Now, have them all come to the President’s office.”
With that, Jia Qiao retreated into the office, locked the door again, and walked around behind the desk.
On the screen, only the last encrypted file was unlocking, with a countdown of 10 seconds.
The commotion outside reached its peak. All the bodyguards gathered from all directions, having received authorization to forcibly breach the door.
Shouting, cursing, and the sound of banging on the door made a huge racket.
“Three, two, one.”
The instant they broke through the door, the progress bar on the screen hit 100%.
Jia Qiao immediately pulled out the mini USB drive, shut down the computer, opened the window, and stepped onto the windowsill.
The night wind lifted their black cloak, like the grim reaper unfolding black wings.
The security guards who rushed in collectively froze at the sight.
In the moonless, windless dark night, that person stood steadily on the narrow windowsill. Under the cloak, a pair of beautiful, cold eyes were visible, like the absent stars of the night—mysterious, distant, and blurred, impossible to see clearly.
They coldly scanned everyone, their eyes devoid of any human emotion, forcing everyone to hesitate before approaching rashly.
After three seconds of silent standoff, that person, watched by all the bodyguards, spread their arms and lightly tilted backward, sinking into the pitch-black night.
—They jumped.
“Wait, this is the 26th floor!”
“They’ll be killed by the fall!”
“Notify the downstairs security immediately!”
The dozen or so bodyguards were terrified, scrambling to the window to look down.
The deep darkness of the night seemed to swallow everything. Where was there even half a person?
At the same time, the unconscious designer was disturbed by the noise and alarm. He groggily opened his eyes and heard the rustling sound of the evening wind beating the curtains.
“So annoying, why is the window open again!”
He walked to the window irritably, reaching out, only to find a dark figure standing on the air conditioner’s outdoor unit.
“You, you…”
The designer was too scared to speak. A card-shaped object appeared before him, shaking like it was hypnotizing him.
He subconsciously reached out to catch it and found it was his own employee ID. The pleasant voice he had heard before he passed out sounded in his ear again.
“Thank you.”
