Chapter 7: Teacher Tao, I Beg You, Let Me Touch Your Abs…
Tao Yao climbed out of bed with a pair of prominent dark circles under her eyes, her head feeling groggy.
The chaotic and fiery images from her dream echoed in her mind like a curse, making her both annoyed and guilty.
“So annoying!” She slapped her cheeks hard, trying to dissipate those images that shouldn’t be there.
Today was Sunday, and she took the early bus back to the county seat to visit her parents.
When she pushed open the door to her home, the aroma of food wafted toward her.
Her mom, wearing an apron, was busy in the kitchen, while her father sat on the old sofa watching TV. Seeing her return, smiles broke out on both their faces.
“Yaoyao is back! Wash your hands quickly, it’s time to eat!” Her mom brought out the last dish—it was Tao Yao’s favorite, braised pork ribs.
The small dining table was packed full of all the dishes she loved.
Her parents kept piling food into her bowl, nagging, “Eat more. You definitely don’t eat well out there; you’ve gotten thin.”
Tao Yao felt a warm glow in her heart, but seeing the new wrinkles at the corners of her parents’ eyes made her feel a bit uneasy. She shoveled a mouthful of rice, hesitated for a moment, then spoke up: “Dad, about the bank loan this month… is the money gathered yet?”
The atmosphere at the table went quiet instantly.
Her parents exchanged a look, their expressions somewhat awkward. Her father cleared his throat first and said with forced lightness: “You’re a child, don’t worry about this. Just take care of yourself. At worst… at worst, we’ll just become deadbeats. We can’t starve to death.”
Her mom also nodded hurriedly: “That’s right, Yaoyao, don’t worry, we have a way…”
As soon as she heard this, Tao Yao knew they definitely hadn’t gathered enough money.
She put down her chopsticks and comforted them: “I found a tutoring job with a very high hourly rate. When I go back, I’ll ask the employer if I can get an advance on some salary to fill the hole for this month first. Don’t worry too much.”
“No, no!” Her mom suddenly got anxious. “You haven’t even graduated, and you already have to earn money to help us pay off debts…”
Before she could finish, her mom’s eyes suddenly turned red. She put down her bowl and chopsticks, tears pitter-pattering down: “It’s all my fault… It’s all because I have no brains, I’m too soft-hearted, and I believed your uncle’s bullshit. If I hadn’t forced your dad to act as a guarantor, how would we owe so much money and drag you into suffering along with us…” The more she spoke, the more emotional she got, starting to wail and weep: “How about… how about I divorce your father? I’ll pay the money back myself; I can’t drag you two down…”
Listening to this, Tao Yao sighed helplessly and held her forehead.
Her mom indeed had big problems—no brains, soft-hearted, and a bit of a “Saint Mother” who hadn’t experienced the beatings of society. But from childhood to adulthood, her mom had been truly good to her, bordering on overindulgence; as long as it was something she wanted, her mom would try her best to satisfy it. When she was busy with studies in high school, her mom got up early every day to make breakfast, rotated through different late-night snacks, and wouldn’t even let her wash her own clothes, saying she was afraid it would interfere with her studies.
Aside from being a bit dim-witted, her mom was truly exceptionally good to her.
She couldn’t harden her heart.
Tao Yao sighed, exchanged a look with her father, and quickly joined him in comforting their wailing mother.
The three of them talked back and forth, giving that unreliable uncle who ran away a thorough scolding, and only then did the atmosphere slowly relax.
Her mom finally stopped crying, wiped her tears, and stood up to go to the kitchen: “Yaoyao, you love dumplings. Mom will wrap some and freeze them for you to take back. Don’t always order takeout; it’s unhealthy.”
Looking at her mom’s busy back in the kitchen, Tao Yao suddenly felt that owing some money was no big deal.
As long as the family stayed together, they could eventually pay it all off.
The next day, Tao Yao returned to the city with the dumplings her mom had wrapped.
She boiled the dumplings for breakfast, and thinking about bringing up the salary advance, she specifically boiled an extra portion to bring to her golden student.
In the villa’s living room, Su Xiaowan was sitting cross-legged on the carpet, with a pile of trendy clothes and accessories recently bought from foreign websites spread out in front of her. But she was just idly picking at them, clearly lacking interest.
It wasn’t until she saw Tao Yao enter that her eyes lit up.
“Teacher Tao, what delicious food did you bring today? It smells so good!” Su Xiaowan had a very sharp nose.
Tao Yao shook the thermal container in her hand: “Dumplings my mom wrapped. I brought a portion for you.”
“Dumplings! Good, good!” Su Xiaowan immediately jumped up, took the container, and opened it. A rich aroma wafted out.
She didn’t bother getting chopsticks and directly pinched one with her hand to stuff into her mouth. She was huffing from the heat but still gave a muffled compliment: “Delicious, super delicious! Much more authentic than what I ate in Chinatown!”
Watching her gorge herself, Tao Yao found it a bit funny, but her mind was on the serious business.
When Su Xiaowan was almost finished eating, she spoke up carefully: “By the way, Student Su, there’s something I want to discuss with you…”
“Hmm?” Su Xiaowan had her cheeks puffed out with a dumpling, looking at her.
“It’s just… my family has an urgent need recently. Could I… discuss with your mother about advancing a portion of the tutoring fees?” Tao Yao found it a bit difficult to say, her face heating up slightly.
Su Xiaowan’s movements paused. She swallowed the dumpling with a bitter face and spread her hands: “Teacher Tao, it’s not that I won’t help you… because my grades have been too poor lately, my Mommy has confiscated all my pocket money and living expenses. I’m a pauper now.” She counted on her fingers: “Credit cards stopped, balance zero, I don’t even have taxi money… otherwise, why do you think I’m staying at home every day?”
Tao Yao: “…”
Seeing her disappointed look, Su Xiaowan gave a half-hearted consolation: “But don’t worry, I’ll go talk to Mommy. An advance on salary is a small thing, no big deal! She seems to have a… better impression of you?”
How is that a better impression? She’s targeting me, Tao Yao complained inwardly.
And after Su Xiaowan finished speaking, she buried her head back into the dumplings, eating until she hiccuped, not forgetting to mumble: “Good, good… Auntie’s cooking is too great…”
Tao Yao immediately regretted being mooched for a meal. Thinking about asking Lu Xuelan for a salary advance made her scalp tingle.
Forget it, she’d deal with it when it came.
She took a deep breath, suppressed her frustration, and put on a professional smile: “Alright, the dumplings are eaten. Shall we start today’s study?”
“Sigh, boring,” Su Xiaowan grumbled, but she still sat obediently at the desk. However, her eyes drifted toward Tao Yao from time to time with inquiry and excitement. “Teacher Tao, did you not sleep well last night? Your dark circles are so heavy. Did you… secretly stay up late to go out and play?”
Tao Yao couldn’t be bothered with her and straightened her face: “Stop the nonsense. Focus on studying; today’s task is very heavy!”
Tao Yao steeled herself.
To keep this job and for that damn loan, she had to make Su Xiaowan learn something.
Alas, Su Xiaowan was just stubborn and wouldn’t listen to anything.
Tao Yao was truly at her wits’ end.
“Student Su, how about we make a deal?” Tao Yao tried to make her voice sound enticing. “If you seriously complete the learning tasks I set today, I’ll create a detailed fitness plan for you, guaranteed to give you abs in three months. Plus, I work part-time at a gym; I can give you three months of one-on-one premium private coaching and personally help you get started.”
Su Xiaowan’s eyes snapped open like searchlights: “Really? Teacher Tao, you keep your word?”
“Of course!” Tao Yao nodded, secretly clenching her fist.
One must throw out a minnow to catch a whale; to keep her job, a little bloodletting was worth it.
“Then… let’s warm up first and trade a few moves.” Su Xiaowan jumped up instantly, eager to try, kicking those new clothes aside. “I’ve practiced Taekwondo, black belt! Let me see your level!”
Looking at her ‘I’m very powerful, come admire me’ expression, Tao Yao wanted to laugh a little. Her dad was a legitimate professional boxer; she had been rolling around in the boxing gym since she was little. Although she didn’t take the professional route, dealing with a non-professional like Su Xiaowan was practically child’s play. It was also a good way for this little ancestor to vent her excess energy so she might be quieter during class.
“Sure, I’ll accompany you to stretch your bones and muscles.”
Tao Yao also stood up and loosened her wrists and ankles. The two of them took their stances in a spacious area of the living room.
At the start, Su Xiaowan made a decent show of a few Taekwondo opening stances, attacking with “hu-ha” shouts, her legs kicking high with plenty of posture.
Tao Yao easily sidestepped, her footwork flexible. Seeing a gap, she did a simple close-quarters trip-and-throw, using her hands to guide and her foot to hook lightly—
“Aiyah!”
Before Su Xiaowan could react to what happened, she let out a cry and landed flat on her back on the soft carpet.
Her face was blank, her pink hair a mess.
“Teacher Tao, you cheated! That’s a foul!” she shouted indignantly.
“This is actual combat, Eldest Miss. Boxing and self-defense are about efficiency and practicality.” Tao Yao smiled and reached out a hand to pull her up, her arm exerting slight force, her muscle lines tightening. “Again? I’ll give you one hand.”
Su Xiaowan’s competitive spirit was piqued. She scrambled up and charged again, having learned her lesson this time and being less reckless.
Tao Yao held back her strength, not daring to actually hit her, merely parrying moves as if teasing a kitten with bared claws.
After a few rounds, both were covered in a thin layer of sweat, and their breathing became rapid.
Tao Yao was only wearing an ordinary white pure cotton short-sleeved T-shirt. Once soaked with sweat, the fabric became somewhat transparent, clinging tightly to her body, clearly outlining the contours of her sports bra. The firm, smooth muscle lines of her abdomen were also faintly visible.
Beads of sweat rolled down her neck and disappeared into her collar, carrying a unique post-exercise sexiness.
Su Xiaowan stopped, panting, hands on her knees, but her gaze was fixed directly and unashamedly on Tao Yao’s sweat-dampened waist and abdomen, which were heaving slightly with her breath, making the muscle contours even clearer.
“Teacher Tao…” Su Xiaowan swallowed, her eyes glowing. “Your muscle lines… are absolutely incredible! If I could train to look like this, how many ‘little sisters’ would throw themselves at me—”
Tao Yao felt uncomfortable being stared at; the gaze was too direct and intense.
She instinctively wanted to tug at her hem, but then felt it was too deliberate, so she straightened her face and used seriousness to cover her embarrassment: “Enough nonsense. You’ve moved enough; it’s time to study. We haven’t done a single bit of today’s lesson.”
“Wait a moment!” Su Xiaowan stepped closer, a look of craving in her eyes. “Teacher Tao, that… could you let me touch your abs? Just once, let me feel them to give me some motivation. I promise, right after I touch them, I’ll focus on studying immediately and absolutely won’t cause trouble today.”
She pressed her palms together in a prayer-like gesture, her big eyes blinking, which, paired with her messy pink hair, made her look a bit like a pitiful small animal.
The veins in Tao Yao’s temple throbbed.
This… was really pushing her luck, but thinking of the importance of this job, she bit her teeth.
Fine! For the money! She’d endure it!
She’d just treat it as being licked by a dog; anyway, she didn’t like women.
“Just once. Start the lesson immediately after you touch them.” Tao Yao went for it, wearing an expression as if she were a hero facing execution.
In her heart, she chanted: One thousand an hour, one thousand an hour, one thousand an hour…
“Yay!” Su Xiaowan cheered excitedly, reaching out her “devil’s claws” toward the enticing contours under Tao Yao’s T-shirt, her eyes full of expectation.
Just as her fingertips were about to touch the slightly damp T-shirt—
“Click.”
The door to the upstairs study was suddenly pushed open.
Lu Xuelan was standing at the railing of the open-air second floor, still holding a document, seemingly having just come out of the study.
Today she wore a black professional women’s suit, which looked to be made of a satin-like material. With custom tailoring, it perfectly complemented the curves of her body, making her look broad-shouldered with a narrow waist and long legs. Her aura was powerful, a full “two-point-eight meters,” exuding the vibe of a business elite.
She had one hand casually tucked into her pocket as she walked down the stairs with elegant steps.
An invisible air pressure instantly enveloped the entire hall.
Tao Yao and Su Xiaowan couldn’t help but exchange a look, both seeing guilt in the other’s eyes. Neither of them took the initiative to speak, tacitly lowering their heads and refusing to meet someone’s gaze.
Lu Xuelan came down the stairs and stopped. Her gaze first landed with a warning on Su Xiaowan’s outstretched, ill-intentioned hand. The latter, quiet as a mouse, immediately retracted her little claw and replied with a habitual silly smile.
Thus, Lu Xuelan let her off for the moment.
Instead, she naturally turned her gaze to Tao Yao. She first looked at Tao Yao’s white T-shirt clinging to her body, lingering for a moment particularly on the waist and abdomen’s thought-provoking contours, the shape of the bra outlined by sweat, and the beads of sweat on her neck and collarbone. Her gaze darkened almost imperceptibly.
The air seemed to freeze instantly, and even the temperature dropped a few degrees.
Tao Yao instinctively felt something was wrong. She subconsciously wanted to find something to cover up, frantically dropping the hand she had originally prepared to block Su Xiaowan and tugging at the hem of her soaked T-shirt. However, it was to no avail; instead, it made her look even more like she was hiding something, leaving her incredibly embarrassed.
She felt as if she had been caught red-handed doing something.
