Chapter 11: Teacher Tao, What Kind of Position Do You Like…
The car drove into the old city district, where the surrounding buildings gradually became low-rise and dilapidated. The rain had lightened slightly, but it was still drizzling.
Looking at the familiar environment outside the window, Tao Yao suddenly realized she was almost home.
“Turn right at the intersection ahead; that old housing complex is it,” she directed.
Lu Xuelan turned the steering wheel as instructed. Her gaze swept over the old buildings with peeling paint outside the window, and her brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, though she quickly regained her composure.
The car stopped at the entrance of the complex. The old neighborhood had no security gate; only two rust-stained iron gates stood wide open. The streetlights at the entrance were dim, blurring into a hazy glow through the curtain of rain.
“Thank you, President Lu, I’m home.” Tao Yao’s thanks were much more sincere this time; after all, she had taken the woman’s money.
She unbuckled her seatbelt and prepared to get out.
“The umbrella.” Lu Xuelan handed over the long-handled black umbrella.
Tao Yao took it, thanked her again, pushed open the car door, and opened the umbrella, dashing briskly into the drizzling rain.
The black sedan lingered in the rain for a moment. Only after that pink figure disappeared into the stairwell of the old complex did it slowly drive away, its taillights cutting two red light trails into the rainy night.
Tao Yao jogged back to her rented unit, shook the water off her umbrella, and quickly climbed the stairs.
The lighting in the old stairwell was dim, and the walls were covered with various small advertisements.
She lived on the fourth floor. Huffing and puffing, she made her way up, opened the door, and found the apartment pitch black.
Tao Yao turned on the lights, closed the door behind her, and leaned against the door frame, letting out a long sigh of relief.
This day had truly been… eventful.
She changed out of her wet shoes and walked barefoot into her tiny bedroom. She carefully took off the pink dress and hung it up on a hanger—even though the woman said it was a gift, she was absolutely never going to wear it a second time.
Then she pulled out that bank card and examined it under the light for a while, noticing a sticky note on the back with the password and cardholder information.
Lu Xuelan had actually opened an account for her and made a salary card.
Tao Yao flipped it over and over, her heart filled with a mix of emotions. Regardless, this money had indeed solved her urgent crisis.
She turned on her computer, logged into online banking, entered the card number and password, and checked the balance.
A number popped up on the screen: 1, followed by five zeros.
One hundred thousand.
The senior student was right—though President Lu had a sharp tongue, she was indeed generous.
But… could she take this money with a clear conscience?
Tao Yao bit her lower lip, struggling intensely within. Logic told her she shouldn’t take it, or at least not this much. Taking it meant being completely under Lu Xuelan’s thumb; she’d never be able to hold her head up in front of her again.
But reality slapped her hard across the face—her family needed money, her parents needed money, and the loan was like a mountain pressing down on her head.
With this hundred thousand, they could at least breathe a sigh of relief for several months.
What to do? What to do?
Tao Yao paced back and forth in her room, her mind a mess. Finally, she slumped back into her chair, resigned to her fate.
“Forget it…” she whispered to herself. “I’ll take it for now. I’ll just treat it as a loan and pay it back slowly later.”
She closed the banking page and decided not to think about it anymore. She opened her document, preparing to write today’s update.
But with her fingers on the keyboard, she couldn’t type a single word. Her mind was full of everything that happened today.
“So annoying!” Tao Yao grabbed her hair in frustration.
She simply gave up on writing, took out her phone, and opened her forum alt account.
Sure enough, there was an unread message.
“L: Are you there? I sent her home today. I created a bit of an opportunity for natural contact on the way and dropped a few hints. She didn’t seem to show any obvious resistance; she should… have some feelings for me, right? At least, she doesn’t hate me?”
Tao Yao stared at the message, her teeth itching with rage.
Feelings? Feelings my ass! I bowed down to your “money-power”!
And “natural contact”? That’s called sexual harassment, you old rogue!
But… Tao Yao’s eyes swiveled. Since you want to play so badly, I’ll play with you until the end.
She typed a reply through gritted teeth, but her tone was disguised as incredibly sincere: “No resistance is a great sign! It shows she isn’t repulsed by you and might even subconsciously accept this kind of closeness. Keep it up, maintain that push-and-pull ambiguous feeling, but remember to handle the boundaries well!”
Fine, come at me. Let’s see what kind of flower you can grow.
After sending the message, Tao Yao tossed her phone aside and prepared to wash up for bed. Just as she stood up, the phone vibrated again.
She picked it up; it was still L.
L: “Thank you for the advice. She wore the dress I gave her today. Pink suits her well; she looks… very soft.”
Tao Yao: “…”
Soft? Soft my head! Where is she soft? She’s clearly as hard as nails!
She angrily typed: “But you should pay attention to the boundaries with things like giving clothes; if they’re too expensive, it might put pressure on her.”
L: “It was just an ordinary dress, not expensive. As long as she looks good in it.”
Ordinary? Tao Yao rolled her eyes. The fabric and tailoring of that dress were clearly high-end; it was worth at least several months of her living expenses. Lu Xuelan calls that ordinary?
As expected, she didn’t understand the world of the rich.
Tao Zhi Yao Yao: “That’s good then. By the way, Sister, how far have you developed things now?”
Tao Yao asked intentionally, wanting to see what other shocking things Lu Xuelan would say.
L: “That’s all for now. However… in the car today, she proactively grabbed my wrist.”
Seeing this message, Tao Yao’s face instantly flushed deep red.
Was that “proactive”? That was being so pissed off by you, so provoked by your flirting that I couldn’t take it anymore!
Tao Zhi Yao Yao: “Wow! That’s a major development! Proactive physical contact means she has let down some of her guard, or perhaps… she’s testing you?”
L: “Testing?”
“Tao Zhi Yao Yao: Exactly. Some girls use this method to test the other person’s reaction—to see if they’ll back down or take further action. It’s actually a disguised invitation, you know.”
Tao Yao made it up as she went, her heart blooming with joy. You want to flirt with me? I’ll bullshit you to death.
The other side was silent for a long while before replying: “I will pay attention and observe. Thank you.”
Tao Zhi Yao Yao: “You’re welcome~ Good luck, Sister! Looking forward to your good news!”
After sending that, Tao Yao finally couldn’t hold it back and collapsed on the bed, laughing into her pillow.
It was too funny; Lu Xuelan actually believed her bullshit and was discussing the progress so seriously.
As she laughed, Tao Yao suddenly stopped.
Wait… could a person as shrewd as Lu Xuelan really be fooled by her so easily?
Or… does she actually know everything and is just playing along?
This thought made Tao Yao’s heart tighten. But then she thought it was impossible. If Lu Xuelan knew “Tao Zhi Yao Yao” was her, how could she still be so calm? She would have been flying into a rage long ago, right?
Yeah, she must be overthinking it. Lu Xuelan just has… romance-brain. No, crush-brain.
Tao Yao shook her head, tossing these messy thoughts away, and got up to wash up.
The warm water washed over her body, taking away the day’s fatigue and tension. Tao Yao closed her eyes, letting the water slide over her cheeks.
Too much had happened today; she needed to sort it out.
She dried off, changed into her pajamas, and lay down on the bed. The rain outside had gradually stopped, leaving only a pitter-patter rhythm.
She stared at the ceiling, but her mind involuntarily conjured Lu Xuelan’s face.
And that cold fragrance on her when she leaned in close in the car, the cool touch of her fingertips grazing her collarbone…
“Stop!” Tao Yao suddenly pulled the covers over her head. “Don’t think about it anymore, go to sleep!”
But the more she tried, the clearer those images became. Tao Yao tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep.
Finally, she resigned herself to sitting up, turned on the desk lamp, and as if possessed, clicked on a certain video file in that zip folder—one she had filtered out earlier because she felt it had a “plot and atmosphere.”
She turned the volume to the minimum and fast-forwarded through it.
In the video, two women were on a sofa kissing, their movements lingering and passionate.
One was wearing a shirt with a few buttons undone, the other a camisole dress with the straps falling down…
Tao Yao’s face turned red as she watched, yet she couldn’t help but keep going.
Her gaze involuntarily fell on the woman wearing the shirt, imagining if that were Lu Xuelan…
“Ah!” She slammed the video shut and threw her phone aside, her cheeks hot enough to fry an egg.
What exactly was she doing? She was actually watching this kind of video and projecting Lu Xuelan into it?
Tao Yao, you are straight! Straight as an arrow!
How could she be so unsettled by an old woman’s flirting that she’d watch smut and project her into it?
She must be too tired today; her brain wasn’t clear. Yes, that must be it.
Tao Yao turned off the lamp, lay back down, and forced herself to close her eyes and sleep.
This time, she fell asleep quickly.
In her dream, she was back in that black sedan. Heavy rain was pouring outside, and the music in the car was soothing. Lu Xuelan approached her, her fingertips grazing her collarbone, and then she leaned in until their breaths were audible to each other.
“Teacher Tao.” Lu Xuelan whispered in her ear, her voice full of allure. “What kind of position do you like?”
Tao Yao wanted to push her away, but found she couldn’t move; she wanted to speak, but no sound came out.
She could only watch helplessly as Lu Xuelan leaned closer and closer, her deep eyes reflecting Tao Yao’s panicked face…
Then, she woke up with a start.
Tao Yao cursed in her heart: That lingering old fox spirit won’t even let her go in her dreams.
It was already light out. She rubbed her eyes and checked the time on her phone—7:30 AM.
Tao Yao got out of bed and pulled open the curtains. The sky after the rain was clear and blue, the air fresh.
A new day had begun.
Tao Yao took a deep breath and forced a smile at her reflection in the mirror.
“Come on, Tao Yao. You can handle this.”
