Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 31
“Don’t get so close to me…” Xia You couldn’t help raising her hand to push her away.
“Why?” Bai Shuxi retreated slightly, studying Xia You’s expression. “Because of your junior?”
“Of course not,” Xia You refuted quickly, though she wasn’t entirely sure what Bai Shuxi had even asked.
The faint scent of perfume enveloped her as Bai Shuxi moved, filling the air around her. The warm body she had embraced countless times lingered dangerously close.
The heat radiating between them slowly seeped into her skin, and Xia You’s mind was entirely occupied by the overwhelming presence beside her. Half-distracted, she blurted out a response before hastily escaping the car, flustered, as if changing the subject:
“Xiao Bai.”
“Senior!” Bai Ye jogged over cheerfully, her face bright with an innocent, sunny smile.
Xia You exhaled in relief, as if freed from a source of tension, and pressed her lips together in a soft smile.
But before she could say anything else, the muffled thud of a car door closing came from the other side, Bai Shuxi had stepped out as well.
Xia You glanced over just in time to see Bai Shuxi stride coolly around the car and stop on the opposite side of the hood.
Tall and elegant, Bai Shuxi’s high-end couture perfectly matched her aloof, aristocratic demeanor. The detached arrogance she carried from the banquet hadn’t fully dissipated yet, and her gaze remained icy and indifferent.
Across the Rolls-Royce’s hood, Bai Shuxi locked eyes with Bai Ye, whose simple outfit and bare face made her look every bit the clueless college student. The scene almost resembled a wealthy, domineering antagonist confronting the protagonists, ready to tear apart a young couple with money.
Amused by the thought since she was the villain, Bai Shuxi chuckled faintly, tapping her fingers lightly on the car’s hood.
When she looked up again, any trace of amusement in her eyes had vanished. She swept a disinterested glance over Bai Ye:
“You look somewhat familiar. And you are…?”
Before she could finish, Bai Ye, standing beside Xia You, frowned almost imperceptibly, her gaze sharpening.
As the least favored among her siblings in the Bai family, she was used to being looked down upon and she despised arrogance more than anything, itching to retaliate against anyone who underestimated her.
But Bai Ye wasn’t the type to settle scores on the spot. Those who crossed her would simply be noted, waiting patiently for the perfect moment to stab them in the back.
Xia You missed Bai Ye’s expression.
She knew Bai Shuxi was putting on an act, but calling her out wasn’t an option. Sighing, she explained, “This is Bai Ye, my junior.”
“Ah, Bai Ye…” Bai Shuxi drawled, as if suddenly enlightened. Her eyes raked over Bai Ye, her lips curling in a faint smirk. “We’ve met before at the hospital, haven’t we? What a coincidence, running into you again today.”
“Not much of a coincidence,” Bai Ye replied with a strained smile, her sharp canines bared in silent defiance. “I came here specifically to see my senior.”
“At this hour?” Bai Shuxi scoffed, casually needling. “How dedicated. Didn’t your senior move? You even tracked her down to this neighborhood?”
Xia You blinked, then turned to Bai Ye with hesitation. “Right, Xiao Bai, how did you find this place? Isn’t the dormitory under curfew by now? Why are you still out?”
Bai Ye turned around with a somewhat aggrieved expression: “Senior, don’t you remember? I moved out of campus. I even invited you to my housewarming when I finished decorating, but you were too busy to come.”
Xia You froze for a moment before replying apologetically: “…I really didn’t remember that. Sorry, Xiao Bai. I was indeed very busy during that period.”
“It’s okay. I just came to deliver some materials to you,” Bai Ye rummaged through her backpack and pulled out a soft plastic document holder. “Professor Lin gave me these. He said they’d be useful for the academic conference you want to attend early next year, but you never came to collect them. Since I had time, I thought I’d bring them to you.”
Her words sounded considerate and obedient, but her expression remained pitifully aggrieved, making anyone who saw her feel guilty.
Xia You took the documents and couldn’t bring herself to press further. After glancing through them, she said, “You could have just called me. There was no need to wait outside so late.”
“Oh… I haven’t been waiting long,” Bai Ye hopped lightly on the curb. “I tried contacting you through the security booth, but they said the homeowner was out. You didn’t reply to my messages either, so I had to wait here.”
Xia You felt a pang of guilt. She had indeed set her phone to silent during the banquet and hadn’t noticed any incoming messages.
Before Xia You could respond, Bai Shui Xi’s amused voice drifted over: “How did you know Xia You would definitely come back today? What if she was away on business? It’s already—”
Bai Shuixi glanced at her watch, “eleven o’clock. Were you planning to wait outside the neighborhood all night?”
Bai Ye: “…”
Xia You blinked and looked at Bai Ye.
“…That was indeed thoughtless of me,” Bai Ye forced a smile, gritting her teeth as her irritation toward Bai Shuixi became almost palpable. But she still managed to lace her words with sarcasm: “Senior used to keep regular hours when she was at the counseling center. I got used to that and didn’t think it through.”
Bai Shuixi smirked slightly but said nothing.
“Senior… you don’t think I had ulterior motives, do you…?” Bai Ye looked at Xia You with pitiful eyes.
Xia You’s lips parted slightly. She instinctively wanted to say ‘of course not,’ but something felt off.
She and Bai Ye weren’t actually that close. It was strange that Bai Ye would go out of her way to deliver non-urgent materials and wait outside until this hour.
“Senior…” Bai Ye called out again, her expression sorrowful as she timidly tugged at Xia You’s sleeve, seemingly hurt by her hesitation.
Her nose was red from the cold, and her eyes were moist, making her look utterly pitiful.
“…”
Xia You’s heart softened. She was about to reassure Bai Ye and move past this when Bai Shuixi suddenly inhaled sharply, pressing a hand to her ribs.
“?” Xia You froze, immediately recalling Bai Shui Xi’s strange chest pains.
Was she having another episode?
Forgetting about Bai Ye for a moment, Xia You lifted her skirt and hurried over to Bai Shui Xi, asking anxiously, “What’s wrong? Is your chest hurting again?”
Bai Shuixi pressed against her ribs, her eyes downcast, looking both pained and fragile as she murmured softly, “A little.”
Xia You’s movements froze. Normally, Bai Shuixi would tough it out and insist she was fine whenever her chest pain flared up. For her to admit it hurt now just how bad was it?
Stunned and distressed, Xia You felt as if someone had twisted her heart. Without a second thought for her high heels, she rushed over to support Bai Shuixi’s arm, urgently asking how she was feeling.
Her voice was tender and full of concern, gentle as spring water in March as if speaking too harshly might startle Bai Shuixi and worsen her condition.
The driver, alarmed by the scene outside, quickly got out of the car and asked if they should take the boss to the hospital.
Without hesitation, Xia You said yes, but Bai Shuixi waved her hand dismissively. Slowly lifting her head, she gave Bai Yeyue a weak but pointedly sarcastic smile:
“If you take me to the hospital, what about Bai? We’ve already inconvenienced her enough tonight. Bai, since I don’t know where you live, let the driver take you home.”
Xia You was furious. “What are you even saying at a time like this?!”
Only then did she remember Bai Yeyue was still waiting nearby. She looked up with a hurried, apologetic smile:
“Sorry, Xiao Bai. Today’s just bad timing. There’s a patient here, and her condition is really urgent. Let me take her to the hospital first, okay?”
Bai Yeyue seethed inwardly at Bai Shuixi’s provocation, her brow furrowing briefly before she caught herself and flashed a bright, unclouded smile. “No problem, Senior! The patient comes first.”
She started walking toward Bai Shuixi and Xia You. “Which hospital are you going to? Do you have enough help? Why don’t I come along? I can assist you, Senior.”
Before Xia You could respond, Bai Shuixi frowned, her displeasure plain on her face. Still, she didn’t say anything outright. After a few seconds of silent irritation, she simply tilted her head and slumped against Xia You’s shoulder, clinging to her.
Unintentionally, her warm breath brushed against Xia You’s neck, carrying an unmistakable hint of intimacy and ambiguity.
Xia You’s mind went blank.
“Let’s not go to the hospital, okay, jiejie…?” Bai Shuixi murmured, eyes closed. “Don’t let anyone else into my home. I just want you with me.”
“……” With Bai Shuixi’s breath so close, Xia You swallowed lightly, struggling to suppress certain impulses as she weakly scolded, “D-Don’t be ridiculous. How can we not go to the hospital in this state?”
Bai Shuixi didn’t argue. After a quiet moment, she suddenly lifted her head and gently caught Xia You’s earlobe between her teeth.
Xia You: “!!!”
As if that weren’t enough, Bai Shuixi idly held the soft, sensitive skin between her lips, her damp tongue flicking over it teasingly before pressing down firmly just before letting go, far too indecent.
“Mm…”
Caught completely off guard, Xia You’s legs went weak. A soft, involuntary whimper escaped her, tinged with something like a sob.
With her support suddenly gone, Bai Shuixi subtly tightened her arm around Xia You’s waist. Seemingly the one being helped, she was actually the one steadying Xia You as they got into the car.
Bai Ye didn’t expect Bai Shuixi to dare act like this. Stunned for a moment, she lifted her foot to chase after them, only to be stopped by the dutiful driver.
The driver wasn’t entirely sure what was going on between his boss and Miss Xia, but he would remain loyal to his employer’s orders.
Expressionless, he raised a hand to block Bai Ye while saying, “President Bo is very busy and likely has no time to speak with you. Should I call a car for you, Miss Bai?”
Bai Ye slowly clenched her fists before slamming one down hard on the hood of the car. “Bai Shuixi, how shameless can you be?!”
The rear window rolled down, and Bai Shuixi’s voice, neither loud nor soft, came through cool and indifferent. “Likewise.”
Bai Ye: “Disgusting!”
Bai Shuixi let out a faint, mocking laugh.
Having responded to Bai Ye’s hysterical accusations, Bai Shuixi had no further interest in wasting time with her. Without warning, her tone turned icy, the commanding presence of someone in power unmistakable:
“Liu Ze, what are you standing around for? Didn’t you hear me say we’re leaving?”
Startled by the sudden callout, the driver shivered before pushing Bai Ye’s hand aside. “Miss Bai, it would be best if you remained civil. If you don’t need a ride, then please step aside.”
Bai Ye didn’t answer, her gaze fixed on the windshield as if she could bore a hole through it, anything to see what the two women in the backseat were doing.
Her expression wasn’t quite hatred, but more like the venomous resentment of someone who’d had their favorite toy snatched away.
The driver studied her face, a chill running down his spine. He couldn’t help but wonder if she had some kind of personality disorder her moods shifted so abruptly.
Glancing at where Bai Ye was staring, Liu Ze suddenly wanted to shove her away even more. If she suddenly snapped, who would be held responsible?
Noticing the driver’s movement, Bai Ye sneered. “It’s not like I can’t find my own ride. Get lost.”
With that, she took two steps back, disappearing beyond the reach of the streetlights, her eyes sharp and venomous.
The driver cursed under his breath psycho before climbing back into the car. The Rolls-Royce started up smoothly, gliding past the last stretch of road outside the residential area. Bai Shuixi and Bai Ye passed each other, separated only by the tinted window.
Bai Ye silently stared at the pitch-black glass, while in Bai Shuixi’s field of vision, the figure with a backpack slung over her shoulders flashed by in an instant.
Leaning against Xia You, Bai Shuixi glanced down at the overly young yet unnervingly dark alpha standing outside and let out a soft scoff, her expression and tone dripping with disdain.
The car continued into the neighborhood, the interior quiet until Xia You’s warm, soft voice suddenly came from above, tinged with confusion.
“…Bai Shuixi?”
Hearing Xia You call her name, Bai Shuixi’s eyes flickered. Losing all interest in Bai Ye, she lazily nuzzled closer into Xia You’s embrace and hummed in response.
“…You weren’t holding that side earlier,” Xia You said.
Bai Shuixi: “…”
Not good.
Without changing her expression, Bai Shuixi switched hands, pressing against the other side of her ribs, her tone calm as if nothing had happened. “Wasn’t I?”
Xia You fell silent for a moment before finally saying, disbelieving, “You lied to me?”
“…” Bai Shuixi paused briefly before replying shamelessly, “No, how is that lying? I really just wanted to stick close to you, jiejie.”
Xia You opened her mouth, wanting to say something at the very least to scold her a little but for a moment, all she could do was follow Bai Shui Xi’s words and recall the recent ‘incident.’
The lingering warmth of passion still seemed to cling to her ears, making her heartbeat erratic.
What Bai Shuixi had done with her… that was way over the line!
“Hmm, sister, why is your heart beating so fast?” Bai Shuixi leaned against her, tilting her head slightly to listen before casually glancing up.
She had expected to be scolded, or at least to have to coax Xia You a little, but she hadn’t anticipated this kind of reaction.
It was a bit unexpected.
“N-no, it’s nothing!” Xia You snapped back to reality, flustered as if startled, and hastily pushed Bai Shuixi away. “I’m just angry.”
“Oh, really?” Bai Shui Xi, who wasn’t entirely sure what anger looked like sat up leisurely, considering it for a moment before deciding not to press further. “Don’t be mad. This time, you’ll believe me when I say Bai Ye has feelings for you, right?”
Xia You let out a relieved breath, eager for her to keep talking about Bai Ye. “It’s not necessarily that she likes me, though…”
“Hmm, so she waited outside this neighborhood late at night because she has a crush on me instead?” Bai Shui Xi’s tone was light as she crossed her long legs again, relaxed.
“…” Xia You was momentarily speechless. “You’re also an alpha.”
Bai Shuixi shrugged. “AA romance?”
Xia You: “…”
Bai Shuixi smiled, her eyes curving. “I’ll show you a document when we get back. Then you can decide whether to believe me or not.”
