Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 25
Bai Shui Xi’s documents weren’t endless, and even if she wanted to keep reading, someone would inevitably stop her.
Over at the hospital, several doctors and nurses were exasperated by Bai Shui Xi’s sudden disappearance. The attending physician was tempted to report the incident to the chairman of the Bai Group, but staring at the perfectly normal physical examination report, he had no idea how to lodge such a complaint.
Just as he was struggling with this dilemma, the young CEO Bai and her strikingly beautiful Omega assistant emerged from the elevator at the end of the hallway.
The doctor: “…”
The two approached him one after the other, with the beautiful Omega still talking: “Your credibility is already zero. This morning, you also said you were fine, but clearly, you weren’t. If anything shows up in this checkup, don’t think you can brush it off, I won’t let you run away again.”
A few steps behind, Bai Shui Xi, draped in a dark overcoat, exuded a cold and aloof aura. Yet her expression was relaxed in the Omega’s presence, almost indulgent, as she chuckled lightly and said, “I really don’t think there’s a problem.”
Xia You wasn’t having any of it.
Just then, Bai Shui Xi spotted the doctor and raised her hand in greeting. “See? There’s my doctor.”
Xia You immediately walked over. “Dr. Chen!”
“Ah, Miss Xia,” Chen Xun, long since worn down by Bai Shui Xi’s antics, glanced at Xia You. “Are you here for the test results?”
“Yes, have they come in? How is everything?” Xia You asked, concern evident in her voice.
“Well… about that,” Chen Xun hesitated, feeling a bit ridiculous himself. “The results show that CEO Bai is in perfect health, even healthier than last month, in fact.”
Xia You froze, not expecting this outcome.
“See? I told you I was fine,” Bai Shui Xi chimed in, her gaze lingering on Xia You’s bewildered expression.
“But she had chest pains this afternoon so severe she couldn’t straighten up,” Xia You ignored Bai Shui Xi entirely, speaking seriously to Chen Xun.
Chen Xun’s eyes gleamed with sudden interest, and he adjusted his glasses with newfound gravity. “Is that so, CEO Bai?”
Bai Shui Xi: “…”
“In that case, I recommend a detailed thoracic examination,” Chen Xun said sternly, as if ready to treat Bai Shui Xi as a research specimen. “To rule out any misdiagnosis.”
Bai Shui Xi saw no need for it and was about to refuse when Xia You immediately nodded and asked earnestly, “What tests should she take?”
Bai Shui Xi: “…”
Fine.
Under Xia You and Chen Xun’s insistence, Bai Shui Xi underwent several additional examinations.
Since Bai Shui Xi had no patience for waiting, the reports were processed at top speed and soon landed on Chen Xun’s desk. Bai Shui Xi remained utterly unbothered, while the meticulous man in gold-rimmed glasses flipped through the pages repeatedly, his frown deepening yet he still couldn’t find anything amiss.
Bai Shui Xi tossed aside the cotton swab pressed against her vein and leisurely rolled down her sleeve. “I told you there was nothing wrong. Now can you finally relax?”
Xia You glanced at Bai Shui Xi, then turned to Chen Xun. “Is she really okay?”
“Hiss…” Chen Xun pinched the bridge of his nose. “I really… can’t find anything wrong. This situation is quite strange. I could send the data to my supervisor for review, but if Miss Xia is worried and wants immediate results, switching hospitals might be the only option.”
As a doctor especially one who took great pride in his medical skills, it pained Chen Xun to admit this. Yet he truly couldn’t detect any abnormalities and couldn’t pinpoint the cause of Bai Shuixi’s chest pain.
“No need,” Bai Shuixi stood up, interrupting their conversation. “I trust your expertise. No need to overreact, see how perfectly fine I am now?”
Xia You wanted to say more, but Bai Shuixi beckoned her over and whispered, “Come here, sister.”
After a moment’s hesitation and a glance at Chen Xun, Xia You approached.
Bai Shuixi naturally guided Xia You out of the office, adopting an unreasonable, coquettish tone: “Look, I’ve already cooperated with all these tests. Isn’t that enough? Do you really want to lock me up in a hospital?”
She’d figured out that Xia You responded better to softness than force playing pitiful worked surprisingly well on her. Though Bai Shuixi wasn’t skilled at it, she could learn.
“I’m just worried about your health. Who said anything about locking you up?” Xia You retorted quietly, her gentle face full of disapproval.
“Don’t worry, if it’s about that, plenty of people are monitoring my health,” Bai Shuixi said with a slight smile.
“Hmm?” Xia You blinked, not understanding.
Just then, Chen Xun poked his head out and handed over Bai Shuixi’s coat. “Take this if you’re leaving.”
Accepting the coat, Bai Shuixi adjusted the collar fussily while explaining, “At the very least, the Bai family always keeps tabs on my condition. If anything were seriously wrong, they’d have flown back immediately.”
“Oh.” Xia You finally snapped out of her constant state of worry.
She’d always known her young pursuer was eccentric and solitary, distant from family and preferring to act alone so she’d assumed few people cared about Bai Shuixi. From the moment she found Bai Shuixi unconscious in her home, Xia You had been gripped by inexplicable panic, terrified something might happen and desperate to eliminate all risks.
Only now did she realize: no matter what, Bai Shuixi was the sole heir to the Bai conglomerate. Her family wouldn’t let anything happen to her.
“But I’m still happy you care about me, sister,” Bai Shuixi leaned in and murmured while Xia You was distracted.
The teasing whisper brushed past Xia You’s ear, making her fluster. She stepped back awkwardly. “I just didn’t want to be held responsible if something happened to you.”
“Oh… right,” Bai Shuixi nodded solemnly, turning away. “Since I collapsed after kissing you, they might need to test your saliva if anything went wrong.”
Xia You was speechless. “You!”
Bai Shuixi glanced back, smiling. “Me what?”
“…Scam!” Xia You muttered under her breath with a vicious tone.
Bai Shuixi couldn’t help but laugh, gently steadying Xia You’s arm while toning down her usual teasing expression. “Let’s go then. Since we didn’t find anything today, we’ll just have to wait for Teacher Chen Xun’s opinion.”
Xia You didn’t have any better ideas either, so she sighed and left with Bai Shuixi.
Perhaps because there were too many people queuing in the underground garage, their driver hadn’t arrived yet by the time they reached the hospital’s main entrance. Fortunately, the area wasn’t crowded, and Bai Shuixi didn’t mind waiting there.
“Do you still have to review documents when we get back today?” Xia You couldn’t help but ask with concern.
“Hmm, probably not,” Bai Shuixi glanced at her phone. “The stylist asked if I’m free today, she wants to take your measurements.”
“Is it for the banquet in a few days?” Xia You, who had been preoccupied with Bai Shuixi’s health, took a moment to recall the upcoming event.
Mentioning the banquet inevitably brought Li Wei to mind again, and Xia You’s gaze dimmed slightly.
Bai Shuixi, who had been scrolling through her phone, noticed the change in Xia You’s expression from the corner of her eye and immediately stopped. She hesitated briefly, about to say something to distract her, when a lively voice suddenly called out from behind:
“Senior!”
Bai Shuixi initially ignored it, but to her surprise, Xia You turned around.
Pausing, Bai Shuixi reluctantly followed suit, her mood souring.
Who was it this time?
First, some stranger had inexplicably called Xia You “sister,” and now here was someone addressing her as “senior.”
Standing behind them was a young female alpha, dressed simply in a plain white sweater and jeans, waving cheerfully at Xia You with an air of innocent enthusiasm.
Judging by age alone, this girl should have been around Bai Shuixi’s age, but her clear eyes and bright smile, coupled with a student-like purity, made her appear younger exuding a kind of docility Bai Shuixi lacked.
Bai Shuixi lowered her gaze, studying the girl with cold detachment, thinking to herself:
Oh… a type I can’t replicate.
The young alpha, initially beaming, stiffened under Bai Shuixi’s indifferent stare, breaking out in goosebumps before hesitantly asking Xia You, “Senior… who is this?”
Her tone was helpless, almost pitiful.
Bai Shuixi glanced at her and inwardly scoffed before leaning in slightly, deliberately asking in a soft, teasing voice, “Yes, who is this, jie jie?”
She drew out the last syllable, her tone both coy and playful.
Xia You: “…” She really couldn’t take this.
“This is my junior from university, Bai Ye,” Xia You took a half-step aside, unable to handle the tension, then turned to the girl. “And this is my current boss, Bai Shuixi.”
Bai Ye looked at Bai Shuixi and forced a smile. “Oh, I see. I only heard that you temporarily closed your counseling practice, but I didn’t know about your current job… Ms. Bai, are you also in psychology?”
“No, I studied finance,” Bai Shuixi said coolly, glancing at Bai Ye before extending a hand. “Pleased to meet you. I’m Bai Shuixi, CEO of Tianyin Entertainment.”
“Ah…” Bai Ye shook her hand, appearing impressed while subtly sizing her up. “So you’re the one from the trending hashtag the other day…”
Realizing she was referring to the CP topic, Xia You hurried to explain, “Oh no, that was just—”
“That was an unapproved marketing topic from our partners,” Bai Shuixi smoothly interrupted Xia You’s attempt at clarification. “They accidentally leaked some real details. How careless of them you must think it’s quite laughable, Miss Bai.”
Xia You froze: “…”
What real details? Since when?
“Ah, our car is here,” Bai Shuixi glanced toward the entrance and naturally draped an arm over Xia You’s shoulder, leaning down to ask, “We have business to attend to today. Shall we catch up with Miss Bai another time?”
Having grown accustomed to Bai Shuixi’s sudden closeness over the past few days, and recalling she did have an appointment with a fashion designer, Xia You nodded. “We should get going then, Xiao Bai. Let’s grab a bite when you’re less busy with your research.”
Bai Ye’s gaze lingered on Xia You’s shoulder under Bai Shuixi’s hold before forcing a strained smile. “…Sure, Senior.”
With one last look at Bai Ye, Bai Shuixi guided Xia You into the car.
As the door closed beside them and the driver circled to the other side, Xia You, still puzzled about the “real details,” turned to ask only to find Bai Shuixi studying her with an amused, penetrating gaze that sent an inexplicable shiver down her spine.
“…What?” Xia You asked warily.
Bai Shuixi’s eyes curved as she murmured, “Senior?”
Her tone was nothing like Bai Ye’s bright, affectionate address. Instead, it dipped low, thick with implication.
Xia You stiffened further. After a glance toward the front seats, she raised the partition and hissed in flustered annoyance, “What are you doing now?!”
Bai Shuixi observed her kittenish bristling before reclining lazily. “Our Dr. Xia is so popular alphas chasing after you everywhere. First someone calling you ‘jie,’ now ‘senior’… Just how many little sisters do you have, jiejie?”
Xia You was torn between anger and laughter. “You are you serious?! She’s just a junior I mentored in student council! There’s nothing else to it, why even bring this up?”
“Oh? Really?” Bai Shuixi eyed her. “That Bai Ye seems to want more.”
“Stop imagining things,” Xia You dismissed, entirely unconcerned. “Since when can you read minds? I should be asking you, what ‘real details’ were leaked?”
Bai Shuixi watched her silently, confirming her genuine indifference to the encounter, before turning away with a languid sigh:
“Just lying to her, otherwise what would you say? ‘Oh, that was a misunderstanding, someone framed me but I haven’t found out who yet’? If you explain it like that, she might even start questioning why you didn’t focus on running your consulting firm properly and instead jumped ship to work with me. Do you really want to explain all that?”
Xia You thought about the messy issues involving Li Wei and the unexpected entanglement between her and Bai Shui Xi, falling into a compliant silence.
“But then, wouldn’t she think we’re actually together now?”
Bai Shui Xi also seemed puzzled: “If you only want to be ordinary friends with her, does it really matter what she thinks?”
Xia You paused: “…You’re right.”
The car continued toward their shared residence, Bai Shui Xi’s gaze lightly skimming over Xia You, who sat quietly with her eyes lowered.
Xia You hadn’t recognized that character, but Bai Shui Xi had noticed.
As expected, once the plot derails in one place, it collapses everywhere. Another relatively important character had made an early appearance.
This Bai Ye didn’t have much screen time in the original novel, but her role was significant. She attended the same university as Xia You, was her junior, and was a complete psycho.
If the original Bai Shui Xi was a deranged pervert with some questionable kinks, then Bai Ye fell into the yandere category.
At first, she didn’t dare do anything to Xia You, merely clinging to her warmth while pretending to be sweet and obedient, acting like the perfect little sister.
Later, when Xia You was imprisoned by the original Bai Shui Xi and disappeared from Bai Ye’s world for a while, only to reappear mentally shattered, Bai Ye completely lost it.
As the illegitimate daughter of the Bai family, she lacked for nothing materially and had a sharp business mind. Cunning by nature, it was all too easy for her to trip up the not-so-bright original Bai Shui Xi. In the latter half of the novel, when Xia You teamed up with Xu Chuan to undermine Bai Shui Xi, it was Bai Ye who taught Xia You how to negotiate with Xu Chuan.
Back when Bai Shui Xi read this part, she couldn’t help thinking that if Bai Ye hadn’t been a psycho, she might have ended up with Xia You instead.
Unfortunately, Bai Ye was indeed a psycho.
All her elaborate schemes were just another way to keep Xia You imprisoned.
As an illegitimate child who was never acknowledged, Bai Ye had grown up starved for affection, which made her cling desperately to Xia You’s kindness.
Bullied by her siblings as a child, Bai Ye’s vengeful nature meant she always retaliated with even greater cruelty. Over twenty years, this twisted her further, honing her ability to deceive. Unable to find a way to love Xia You properly, she resorted to the only method she knew to ‘have’ her.
But the Xia You who had survived the original Bai Shui Xi was no longer the naive, trusting girl she once was. Xia You 2.0 wasn’t intimidated by Bai Ye’s tactics and promptly sent the would-be captor to jail, paving the way for her eventual happy ending with Li Wei.
Thinking about it now, Bai Shui Xi couldn’t blame the author for not daring to write an epilogue.
If this hardened version of Xia You ever found out Li Wei had truly been involved with Zhou Wanwan, Li Wei would probably become another VIP guest in prison.
Fortunately, for now, Bai Ye was still just Bai Ye neither back in the Bai family stirring up trouble nor given the chance to ingratiate herself. At this point, she hadn’t even begun tormenting the female lead.
Li Wei was one thing, but Bai Ye was far too unpredictable and needed to be written out of the plot as soon as possible.
Bai Shuixi was so absorbed in plotting the storyline that she didn’t notice the car had fallen silent for a while. When she finally snapped out of it, she saw Xia You eyeing her suspiciously before asking, puzzled, “What are you thinking about? You look like… you’re about to screw someone over.”
“……” Bai Shuixi paused, then flashed Xia You an innocent smile. “How could that be? I was just thinking about the weekend banquet.”
“…Really?”
“Of course. Truer than this ring on my finger.”
Meanwhile, standing in the hospital lobby, Bai Ye’s expression turned icy. She found a seat in the waiting area, blending in with the patients, except for the fact that she wasn’t holding any registration slip.
Before long, a guy with bleached hair sauntered over and casually took a seat beside her. “So? Did you see her?”
Bai Ye frowned, not even bothering to look at him. “Is your information reliable? Did my senior really get involved with that alpha…?”
The guy grinned carelessly. “Pfft, no doubt about it.”
Then, lowering his voice, he muttered, “Too bad the setup wasn’t right, or I could’ve gotten you some video proof.”
Bai Ye’s grip suddenly tightened, crumpling the papers in her hand into a ball. Her gaze turned murderously cold.
“Alright, alright, I was just talking nonsense. My bad,” the guy raised his hands in surrender before handing her a slip of paper. “Here, what you wanted, the current address of those two.”
Bai Ye took a deep breath, reminding herself that she still needed him. Suppressing her anger, she asked, “Is it reliable?”
The guy smirked. “Come on, what’s our relationship? Guaranteed legit. Go ahead, if you don’t find them, blame me.”
Bai Ye is here to help.
Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan are also supporting roles there’s a big plotline coming for them.
The bleached-haired guy’s background will be revealed soon. Since he’s got loose morals, he’ll face consequences later.
As for the system that never got a chance to appear… it’s already in sage mode.
