Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 26
Although Song Yuan was often embroiled in dating rumors with various actresses he collaborated with, he personally disliked engaging in any CP marketing.
Yu Jin hadn’t expected Song Yuan to refuse her. Her expression turned even colder, and an icy aura seemed to radiate from her, making her displeasure unmistakably clear.
Even Luoluo, who was sitting in her lap, sensed Yu Jin’s mood. Blinking her round, wide eyes, she glanced at Yu Jin with concern.
Yu Jin let out a cold snort and parted her thin lips.
“Do you really think that with just a bit of recording, Wei Yang’s people will back off and the online public opinion will shift in your favor?””
“Song Yuan, I never expected that after being in the entertainment industry for so long, you could still be this naive!”
Song Yuan’s expression darkened at Yu Jin’s words.
She was naive enough to stubbornly hold onto her principles and refuse to engage in CP marketing with anyone. But what did that have to do with Yu Jin?
Luoluo glanced at Song Yuan, then looked up at Yu Jin.
Sensing the tension in the air, she raised her small hand and gently tugged at Yu Jin’s sleeve.
“Mommy, Mama, please don’t fight.”
Hearing Luoluo’s words, Song Yuan tried hard to soften her expression.
She didn’t want this matter to affect Luoluo.
Song Yuan comforted her softly and offered a reassuring smile.
“Mommy and Mama aren’t fighting, Luoluo. Don’t worry.”
Yu Jin also glanced at Luoluo in her arms and restrained herself from lashing out.
She set Luoluo down and stood up.
“Since you won’t agree to my terms, there’s nothing left for us to discuss.”
Luoluo stood where she was, watching Yu Jin prepare to leave, looking somewhat helpless.
Song Yuan walked over to Luoluo, scooped her up into her arms, and said, “Sweetie, it’s okay. Don’t worry.”
Yu Jin paused at the doorway, turning her head slightly. “Take good care of Luoluo.”
With those words, she left without looking back.
With Yu Jin gone, there was no way to continue the discussion. Song Yuan knew her plan to have Yu Jin help verify the authenticity of the recording had fallen through.
She didn’t care for the tea at the teahouse either, so she simply disguised herself again and left.
Unbeknownst to Song Yuan, a person across the street with a camera hanging around their neck captured her image.
After returning home, Song Yuan removed all her disguises, sat on the sofa, and picked up her phone to check the online comments.
As expected, Yu Jin hadn’t clarified anything for her. The online public opinion, stirred up by Wei Yang’s fans, was now filled with accusations that Song Yuan was trying to ride on Yu Jin’s popularity.
Song Yuan felt utterly helpless reading the comments. She had made every effort to keep her distance from Yu Jin during the show, yet people still accused her of riding on the coattails of popularity.
“Sigh, being a celebrity is tough!”
After lamenting to herself, Song Yuan simply turned off her phone, deciding not to dwell on those frustrating matters.
“Luoluo, I remember you didn’t finish your morning cartoon, right? Let’s continue watching it.”
“Okay!”
Luoluo obediently agreed. Song Yuan spent the rest of the afternoon holding Luoluo, watching cartoons, and playing games with her.
For dinner, Song Yuan ordered takeout from Luoluo’s favorite restaurant. As a celebrity, going out was always troublesome.
Song Yuan had thought the day would end uneventfully, but not long after dinner, Luo Wei showed up at her door.
The moment Song Yuan opened the door to the knocking, she heard Luo Wei’s questioning voice.
“Song Yuan! Did you take Luoluo out this afternoon?”
Song Yuan raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised. “How did you know, Sister Weiwei?”
“My dear ancestor, you really won’t let me have a moment’s peace!”
As she spoke, Luo Wei stormed into the room.
“What happened?”
Luo Wei snapped irritably, “Go online and see for yourself! Public opinion is exploding because of you right now!”
Hearing this, Song Yuan opened her phone. The trending searches were all about her and Yu Jin, but now there was a new hashtag:
#SongYuan’sDaughter#
Seeing this hashtag, Song Yuan’s face immediately darkened. She clicked on the trending topic and saw photos of herself taking Luoluo in and out of the teahouse earlier that day.
She had covered herself and Luoluo thoroughly, yet someone had still recognized her.
[WeiLovePower: Hah, Song really opened my eyes. Not only did she abandon our Yangyang, but now she has a daughter? Yet I remember Song Yuan’s public persona is single and unmarried. Where did this child come from? Could it be a love child?]
[YuanYuanOfficial: Entertainment marketing accounts these days have no moral bottom line. How dare they try to smear our Song Yuan with these faceless photos?]
[CPLover: Just a bystander here. Though the photos don’t show faces, that smoking hot figure is unmistakable definitely one of a kind in the entertainment industry. This is almost certainly Song Yuan. But I’ve never heard about her having a child before. What’s the relationship between her and the child? Could it really be a love child?]
[YangFamily: Song Yuan not only faked recordings but now has a love child too. Such low moral character. I don’t know what her fans see in her. Maybe it’s her willingness to sleep around?]
Seeing Song Yuan’s expression, Luo Wei knew she had seen the online controversy.
She asked, “You’ve seen it all now, haven’t you? Explain, why weren’t you staying home this afternoon? What were you doing at the teahouse?”
“I went to see Yu Jin.” Seeing her agent about to erupt, Song Yuan quickly added, “Didn’t I give you the recording yesterday? When I refused to do the CP promotion with Wei Yang, Yu Jin was there too. I wanted to ask her to testify and confirm the authenticity of my recording, so I arranged to meet her.”
Luo Wei pressed urgently, “Did she agree to testify for you?”
With the current online backlash against Song Yuan, if Yu Jin agreed to clarify, it could relieve some of the pressure.
Song Yuan shook her head. “Yu Jin’s condition for testifying was that I do a CP promotion with her. I refused.”
Luo Wei felt a throbbing pain in her temples. What a mess!
“Sister Weiwei, don’t worry too much. The paparazzi photos didn’t capture my face at all. I can simply deny the whole thing.”
“How can I not worry? Several brands have already called me today! They hinted that if you can’t handle this situation, they might terminate your contracts!”
Luo Wei pulled out her phone, scanning the online backlash, and paced anxiously around Song Yuan’s room.
The image that Song Yuan had painstakingly begun to salvage with the recording had now, after the photos with Luoluo were exposed, plunged her back into being universally criticized online.
Some people even began to question Song Yuan’s character and morals because of this incident, casting doubt on the authenticity of the recording released by her team.
If they wanted to turn the situation around, it seemed only Yu Jin could help Song Yuan now.
Luo Wei stopped walking, turned around, and looked directly at Song Yuan with a serious tone.
“Song Yuan, go find Yu Jin.”
“What?” Song Yuan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Did I hear you right, Weiwei? You want me to go to Yu Jin?”
Hadn’t her manager repeatedly warned her before not to get involved with Yu Jin? How could she change her mind so quickly?
Luo Wei could guess what Song Yuan was thinking. Previously, the gossip about Song Yuan and Wei Yang had caused quite a stir, and coupled with the formidable strength of Yu Jin’s fans, she really hadn’t wanted Song Yuan to have too much contact with Yu Jin. But aside from having Yu Jin step forward to speak up for Song Yuan, she couldn’t think of any other good way to resolve the online backlash.
“Only Yu Jin can help you now.”
Song Yuan frowned. “But I already rejected her at the teahouse today!”
“Then go find her! Agree to her terms!”
“I don’t want to create a CP with her.”
Song Yuan was reluctant. Moreover, she had just turned Yu Jin down, and now Luo Wei was telling her to go back wasn’t that just making her slap her own face?
Seeing Song Yuan’s lack of cooperation, Luo Wei’s brows furrowed deeply, her eyes almost blazing with anger.
“Song Yuan! Take a look at the comments online. Do you really think you can still refuse now?”
Luo Wei planted her hands on her hips, her chest heaving with frustration. “Look at these dark circles under my eyes! Who do you think they’re for?”
“And here you are, saying you don’t want to do it without a second thought. Have you ever considered how much mess I’ve had to clean up for you behind the scenes?”
“This time, whether you want to or not, you have to go contact Yu Jin! If you refuse, you’d better start thinking about finding a new manager! My abilities are limited aside from having Yu Jin speak up for you, I can’t think of any other way to resolve this situation!”
Hearing Luo Wei speak so harshly, Song Yuan knew she had pushed her to the brink.
Luo Wei and Song Yuan had worked together for many years. From the moment Song Yuan entered the entertainment industry, Luo Wei had been her manager. Over time, their relationship had become more like that of friends.
Moreover, Song Yuan had a knack for attracting both love and hate. No matter how careful she was, inexplicable rumors always seemed to find her. Over the years, Luo Wei had put in immense effort to handle these issues for her.
If there were any other way, Luo Wei would never have spoken so sternly.
Song Yuan poured a glass of water and handed it to Luo Wei. “Weiwei, don’t be angry. Where else could I find a manager as capable and caring as you?”
Luo Wei shot her a sidelong glance, snorted coldly, and didn’t respond.
“I promise you, I’ll go find Yu Jin, agree to her terms, and ask her to help me.”
“That’s more like it.” Luo Wei’s anger subsided slightly as she took the glass from Song Yuan and took a sip.
After giving Song Yuan a few more instructions at her home, Luo Wei finally left.
The living room fell silent. Song Yuan leaned back on the soft sofa, staring at the empty ceiling, unsure how to even begin contacting Yu Jin.
“Sigh!” She let out a long sigh and sat up straight again.
She took out her phone, opened the contacts list, and stared at the number labeled “Yu Jin.” Her finger hovered over the screen, nearly tapping it before pulling away at the last moment. After repeating this several times, Song Yuan still couldn’t bring herself to make the call.
Feeling troubled and restless, she ran her fingers through her hair in frustration.
Luoluo emerged from her playroom and noticed Song Yuan frowning, her face clouded with worry as she gazed at her phone.
She toddled over to Song Yuan, climbed onto the sofa, and tugged gently at her arm. “Mommy, don’t frown. Be happy.”
Snapping out of her thoughts, Song Yuan realized Luoluo was there. She ruffled the little girl’s hair and forced a smile.
“Okay, no more frowning.”
Luoluo glanced at the phone screen. Though she couldn’t read many words yet, she recognized the name “Yu Jin.” Pointing at the screen, she exclaimed with delight, “Mommy!”
Following Luoluo’s finger, Song Yuan’s eyes landed on Yu Jin’s name, and a sudden idea sparked in her mind. She glanced at Luoluo, then back at her phone, and her eyes lit up with realization.
