Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 18
Inside the room, the six of them exchanged glances.
Ma Tianmeng and Yueyue looked at each other, then tacitly averted their eyes.
A glint flashed in Wei Yang’s eyes as she stepped forward and took Song Yuan’s hand. “Sister Ah Yuan, do you think Luoluo will choose us as her mommy and mama later?”
Song Yuan mentally pictured Luoluo calling Wei Yang “mama” and shook her head vehemently inside.
That wouldn’t be appropriate!
She subtly pursed her lips. “Probably not.”
Truthfully, Song Yuan wasn’t confident either. Through their interactions these past few days, she could tell that Yu Jin was someone Luoluo particularly relied on.
Like a mother?
Song Yuan didn’t know where Luoluo and Yu Jin’s trust and tacit understanding came from, but she also felt that, from Luoluo’s perspective alone: she, Yu Jin, and Luoluo were the most suitable choice to form a family.
Yu Jin watched Song Yuan and Wei Yang’s interaction, her fists clenched tightly and her thin lips pressed together, irritation threatening to explode in her mind.
Wei Yang didn’t mind Song Yuan’s words. She raised an eyebrow so, what if she didn’t like it?
As long as she could tie herself to Song Yuan for CP hype, it was enough. Although Song Yuan wasn’t some hot commodity, she had that natural tendency to trend on hot searches every day. Being associated with Song Yuan clearly held significant commercial value.
Thinking this, Wei Yang casually handed Song Yuan a cup of tea.
“Ah Yuan, are you still planning to take Luoluo with you later?” Wei Yang pressed, already considering Song Yuan part of her family in her mind.
[YuanYang CP Flag: I knew it, I knew it! Song Yuan will end up with Yangyang after all!]
[YuanYuan’s Main Partner: Tsk, feels a bit off but I can’t pinpoint why. Let’s wait and see.]
[YuYu’s Wife: Okay, got it. Song Yuan is with you. As long as she doesn’t bother my Yu Jin, that lady can pair up with anyone she wants!]
[LoveEatingGangdongPeople: Didn’t expect the mystery to be revealed so quickly! I love variety shows that don’t keep the audience guessing!]
Song Yuan felt uneasy inside. Even though Luoluo had only been with Yu Jin for a few days, she inexplicably felt that Luoluo would struggle with her choice.
At this moment, Song Yuan even felt somewhat uncertain: between her and Yu Jin, how would Luoluo choose?
Song Yuan suddenly recalled how carefully Luoluo had shown her the duck this morning. Had Luoluo understood their conversation yesterday, causing their relationship to revert to how it was when they first met overnight?
That’s right. Luoluo might not speak much, but there was nothing wrong with her intelligence in fact, she was more perceptive and clever than her peers.
How could Luoluo not notice?
Song Yuan thought regretfully. No wonder when she roasted oranges for Luoluo this morning, Luoluo had vaguely asked, “Will I still get to eat oranges roasted by Mommy in the future?”
How had Song Yuan responded at the time?
She had said, “Next time we can go camping, then it’ll be easy to roast oranges.”
But such a non-committal, not entirely affirmative answer did it equate to a rejection in a child’s mind?
No wonder after hearing those words, Luoluo hadn’t eaten many orange segments, just hung her head and listlessly played with the little duck.
Outside, Meng Yanyan urged, “Five minutes left until the final deadline. Families that have formed can walk out hand in hand, symbolizing moving forward together and forging ahead.”
Ma Tianmeng and Yueyue naturally held hands and said to Song Yuan, “Sister Yuan~ We’re heading out first.”
Song Yuan nodded. “Okay.”
Wei Yang immediately took Song Yuan’s hand as well: “Ah Yuan, let’s go out too.”
Compared to the occasionally erratic Yu Jin, choosing Wei Yang seemed like a reasonable option. But when Song Yuan’s gaze fell on Yu Jin, standing alone to the side, she couldn’t help but pause.
Wei Yang noticed Song Yuan’s lingering look and, afraid she might choose Yu Jin, tried to lead her out. “Ah Yuan, Luoluo is waiting for us. Let’s not keep her waiting.”
Song Yuan didn’t move. She knew Wei Yang had chosen her merely to stir up a CP buzz and boost popularity. Her own agent had repeatedly warned her not to get involved with Yu Jin.
But while Song Yuan didn’t particularly like Yu Jin, she also had no interest in fueling rumors with Wei Yang.
She pulled her arm back. “Wei Yang, I know why you chose me, but I don’t want to engage in any CP hype. You should pick someone else.”
Wei Yang flushed with embarrassment and anger but forced herself to stay calm. “Ah Yuan, stop joking. Let’s go out first. We can discuss the rest later.”
“I’m not joking. If you want to stir up CP buzz, find someone else.”
Wei Yang’s face darkened, her composure cracking. She wanted to lash out, but when she caught Yu Jin’s icy glare from the side, she swallowed her anger.
Song Yuan walked over to Yu Jin and extended her hand. “Teacher Yu, Luoluo really likes you. I’m sure she’d love for us to partner up again. What do you say we go out together?”
Though Song Yuan had made the invitation, and Yu Jin had previously advised her not to choose Wei Yang, she was still worried Yu Jin might suddenly turn erratic and mock her.
Fortunately, that didn’t happen. The two walked out hand in hand from the southern room, leaving only Jian Xi and Wei Yang behind.
Wei Yang clenched her fists, her chest heaving with suppressed rage. She had to maintain her composure in front of the cameras. Left with no choice, she awkwardly approached Jian Xi.
When Meng Yan Yan saw Song Yuan and Yu Jin walking out hand in hand, she grew anxious. “We don’t know what happened. Right after you went inside, Luoluo started crouching on the ground crying. She wouldn’t let anyone near her.”
Song Yuan and Yu Jin exchanged a glance and hurried in the same direction.
Footage of this scene was later clipped and circulated, along with videos exposing Wei Yang’s humiliation.
[Who gets it, folks? Tsk, those who were hyping the Yuan-Yang CP your dream is shattered. Come take a look.]
[Yuan-Yang Supporter: All I can say is Song Yuan is just too heartless. I really feel for our Yang Yang. She said all those nice things earlier, but at the critical moment, she chose Yu Jin without a second thought, completely disregarding Wei Yang’s embarrassment.]
[Yuan’s True Partner: Don’t even try to associate. It was always your Wei Yang doing the talking. Yuan never agreed to anything. Pure peacock behavior totally full of herself.]
[Yu Jin’s Devotee: What the, why is my Yu Jin going with her?! Why, why, why?!]
[Jin’s Big Sis: I think Yu Jin is probably considering the child’s feelings. Luoluo is already used to Song Yuan and Yu Jin being together. Changing partners suddenly wouldn’t be good for the child’s emotional well-being.]
Song Yuan’s choice this time was a bold move. Despite the risk of being criticized online and scolded by her agent, Luo Wei, she stuck with the original arrangement.
She thought to herself: Since the reason she joined this show in the first place was to help Luoluo, she might as well see it through to the end.
Luoluo had been crying with her back turned to everyone. Upon hearing Song Yi’s voice, she abruptly stood up, wiped her face with her small hands, and turned around. “Mom? Mommy?”
Tear stains crisscrossed Xiao Hua’s face. Luoluo had thought about many things about what would happen if Song Yi and Yu Jin separated, and whom she would choose to stay with.
But she never expected that when she turned around, both Song Yi and Yu Jin would be standing right before her eyes.
Luoluo dashed toward Song Yi, throwing herself into her arms. “Mom!”
Song Yi scooped Luoluo up, gently wiping away her tears and sniffles before saying, “Silly Luoluo, what are you crying for?”
