Chapter 8: Captured By The “Poor Boy” Ex-boyfriend He Once Despised (8)
The specialist let out an “Ah,” having perceived Gu Yang’s intention.
He wanted to remind him that rehabilitation wasn’t as simple as it looked and required professional knowledge to be performed correctly, but remembering the hospital director’s instructions before he came, he held his tongue.
“Your hands should be like this—alternate the kneading with both hands. The muscles need to be completely relaxed.”
Following the specialist’s cues, Gu Yang pressed his palms against Ji Xiangmian’s calf. Before he could move, his sleeve was grabbed by Ji Xiangmian. He followed the force and looked up at Ji Xiangmian, his movements freezing.
The tip of Ji Xiangmian’s nose and the corners of his eyes were a vivid crimson, and a single tear hung from his lashes, poised to fall like a pearl. He looked aggrieved and pitiful. His fingers gripping the sleeve were white with exertion, and his lips pressed together tightly before he squeezed out a single word.
“Hurts.”
Gu Yang looked back down at the calf under his hand. The originally creamy-white skin had already been pinched a bit red. It bloomed across the fairness like rosy clouds, looking as beautiful as a painting. A tear fell with a patter onto the back of his own hand, carrying a small spark of heat.
In such an atmosphere, the specialist—who was usually very confident in his professional skills—suddenly felt inexplicably as though he had done something wrong. His lips moved, and he spoke in a small voice: “This is a normal step in rehabilitation.”
Ji Xiangmian’s mouth turned down, and his fingers tightened before slowly letting go. He turned his face away and gritted his teeth: “Then do it.”
Yet even his fingertips were trembling involuntarily.
Gu Yang let out a breath and began to knead and rub according to the specialist’s tutorial, soothing him: “Endure it a little, it will be over soon.”
If it weren’t for this specific setting, Ji Xiangmian would have overthought things. Unfortunately, he was currently in so much pain he wanted to bare his teeth. He had no other thoughts at all. No one had told him that rehab was this painful.
After completing a full set of rehabilitation procedures, all three people in the room breathed a sigh of relief. Ji Xiangmian was panting heavily, his back already soaked with cold sweat.
Gu Yang stood up, a wave of numbness hitting his legs, but all his senses were concentrated in his palms. Having not been used for a long time, the muscles in the legs had somewhat atrophied; the flesh on the calf was as soft as a piece of tender jelly. The texture, however, was better than the finest silk, almost instantly igniting certain lustful thoughts in him.
The specialist wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling more and more like his presence here was a bit too strong. Should he go wait outside?
He finally saw Gu Yang finish the massage for Ji Xiangmian and hurriedly said: “The next step is to help Mr. Ji exercise the joints in his legs and feet.”
Without waiting for the specialist to speak, Gu Yang leaned down and picked Ji Xiangmian up from the low stool. Ji Xiangmian subconsciously wrapped his arms around Gu Yang’s neck, appearing a bit dazed. It wasn’t until his body was suspended over the physical therapy bed that Gu Yang raised an eyebrow: “Still not letting go?”
Ji Xiangmian’s face instantly turned red, and he hurriedly let go.
Only after placing him on the bed did Gu Yang look at the specialist who was preparing to come over: “What next?”
The specialist, who was about to step in, stopped. Standing five steps away from the two, he spoke: “You need to support his knee area. The movements should be light, and it’s best if Mr. Ji uses a little bit of his own strength as well.”
Gu Yang supported the crook of Ji Xiangmian’s leg and moved gently. The specialist, who had been about to speak, closed his mouth. Although it was Gu Yang’s first time doing such a thing and he wasn’t professional enough, fortunately, he was patient enough, and the results were decent.
By the time the entire rehabilitation process was finished, two hours had passed.
The specialist’s smile was very professional: “That’s it for today’s rehab. Starting tomorrow, this process will be done once in the morning and once in the afternoon, totaling four hours a day.”
Ji Xiangmian nodded, then suddenly realized something was wrong: “The massage too?!”
The specialist’s smile remained unchanged: “Yes.”
Ji Xiangmian couldn’t hold it together anymore. He tugged on Gu Yang’s sleeve, tears falling patter patter as he felt like his life was never going to be okay again.
Specialist: “…”
He silently took a half-step back. President Gu wouldn’t just throw him out, would he?
Gu Yang looked at Ji Xiangmian, whose face was flushed red from crying, with a complex expression, catching a faint glimpse of the person from the past. Ji Xiangmian was an orphan. After they got together, Gu Yang always instinctively wanted to treat him better. One could say he had a significant hand in raising the boy to be so pampered and delicate. Whenever he wanted something, he would grab his sleeve with a look of grievance.
Gu Yang once thought he would never have the chance to see this version of Ji Xiangmian again. Perhaps it was because Ji Xiangmian cried too pitifully, or perhaps he was reminded of those past images—Gu Yang’s heart rarely softened a bit.
“Since it has to be done both morning and afternoon, let’s shorten the duration a little.”
The specialist’s lips moved, but meeting the sharp gaze Gu Yang swept over him, his whole body stiffened, and he immediately nodded in agreement. Though, regardless of whether the time was shortened or not, the pain to be endured in the end wouldn’t be any less.
After the specialist left, it took a long time for Ji Xiangmian to stop crying. His small face was a mess from crying, the tip of his nose and cheeks all red. He tugged at Gu Yang’s sleeve while sobbing.
“Mr… Mr. Gu, you’re so good.”
Gu Yang pinched the bridge of his nose. He picked the boy up and put him back in the wheelchair, then pushed him back to his room.
After carrying him onto the bed, Gu Yang glanced at the time and realized he had actually stayed with Ji Xiangmian for an entire afternoon. The work he had originally planned to handle this afternoon had gone completely untouched.
Gu Yang felt he couldn’t afford to be this soft-hearted again. The reason he had saved Ji Xiangmian wasn’t to come and serve him. He took a deep breath and said coldly to Ji Xiangmian: “Starting tomorrow, I won’t help you with rehab anymore. The specialist will come to help you.”
Ji Xiangmian paused and asked in a small voice: “Do you have things to busy yourself with?”
Gu Yang nodded.
Ji Xiangmian pursed his lips: “But I hope you’re here.”
Gu Yang suddenly reached out and pinched Ji Xiangmian’s cheek, using some force to press him into the pillow. “You must remember your status. You are in no position to negotiate terms with me.”
Ji Xiangmian’s face turned a bit pale from the sudden warning. He gave a small nod and spoke slurringly: “I understand.”
Gu Yang gave a cold snort and turned to leave without a shred of nostalgia. Not only did Ji Xiangmian need to remember his status, but he himself would also remember it at all times. This kind of soft-heartedness today would not happen again.
The room door closed, and Ji Xiangmian lay facing the inner wall.
“Remember your status~~~”
“No position to negotiate terms with me~~~”
Ji Xiangmian ground his teeth, repeating the words sarcastically. Little dog Gu’s hand was too heavy; he pinched his face so hard it hurt!
666: “…Who told you to hurt him so badly before?”
Ji Xiangmian gave a light cough: “I was acting according to the mission script, that’s on you guys.”
666 rolled its eyes: “We told you to say he was useless, and you said he was like a rat in the gutter.”
“We told you to say he was poor, and you said he wasn’t worthy of carrying a rich heir’s shoes for his entire life.”
“We told you to break up with him, and you insisted on dragging the rich heir along to watch him be made a laughingstock.”
Ji Xiangmian played dead. “Adding one’s own thoughts on the basis of the script is the self-cultivation of a good actor.”
666 sneered: “Then I wish you success, ‘good actor’.”
