Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 82
Xu Luzhi quickly adapted to her university life and grew at a pace that surprised everyone.
Soon, even Lin Qingyue, who was off campus, heard about the computer science freshman in the preparatory course at Lin University. She was beautiful with a sweet voice, pure and fresh like a lotus emerging from the water, humble and polite, and, most notably, a computer genius.
In just two months, she had caught up with what many had accomplished in two or three years, and she was already independently leading a project; she was the captain, while the seniors in their fourth year were the team members.
Hearing all this made Lin Qingyue proud. Of course, this also meant Xu Luzhi had even less time; even her rare weekends were often occupied by group meetings, and even a quick trip home had to be timed precisely.
Several times, Lin Qingyue saw Xu Luzhi post on her Moments (WeChat Status), saying she had dozed off in the lab for another night.
She was truly busy, and truly hardworking. Seeing Xu Luzhi’s photos, Lin Qingyue felt the young girl on the screen radiated energy, as if she never got tired. Perhaps doing what you love is what keeps you going.
Lin Qingyue didn’t know if she was the one Xu Luzhi could keep going for.
She hoped Xu Luzhi would forget her, yet she also hoped Xu Luzhi wouldn’t give up on her.
This contradictory and conflicted feeling was especially evident when she watered the gardenia plant at home.
In the blink of an eye, it was autumn. The gardenia had long since withered, and even its leaves were slowly turning yellow, listlessly preparing for winter, which was futile despite the warmth provided.
The laws of nature could not be stopped by anything.
Lin Qingyue put down the watering can and sat staring blankly on the sofa.
Her life was always regular work, going home, shopping, strolling. When she was in Weicheng, she had many casual friends, but in Lincheng, she had none and didn’t wish to make any.
Perhaps it was due to age; she yearned for a simple life. But every time the lights came on in the apartment, being alone inevitably brought on a touch of loneliness.
Unlike Xu Luzhi, whose days were so full, like a bamboo shoot that had absorbed enough rain on a spring night, shooting up incredibly fast, growing tall overnight.
She dared not imagine how broad Xu Luzhi’s horizons would be by the time she reached her senior year, graduate school, and Ph.D., how many honors and titles she would accumulate, and how many excellent and beautiful “sisters” she would meet.
By then, perhaps Xu Luzhi would realize that her initial infatuation with her was just a fleeting attraction based on looks. Lin Qingyue was just an ordinary woman, not worthy of Xu Luzhi’s wholehearted devotion.
Lin Qingyue thought this, curved her lips into a smile that seemed quite composed, but the sweet orange she was eating tasted inexplicably sour, piece by piece.
It was so sour that she closed her eyes, unwilling to think or look anymore. Yet, she desperately wished to escape this sense of insecurity sooner.
Xu Luzhi was even busier than Lin Qingyue had imagined. However, she had been accustomed to such intensely managed time since childhood, and coupled with her effortlessly charming demeanor, many people were willing to lend her a small hand.
So, after a busy month or two, she gradually adapted to this rhythm and routine. Within the overwhelming academic load, she finally found room to fit in more time for Lin Qingyue.
In fact, Lin Qingyue’s guess was correct: quite a few senior female students had openly or subtly shown interest in her. But every advance was blocked by Zhao Ru, who harbored her own intentions, leaving the others to sigh in disappointment.
Zhao Ru herself couldn’t be too blatant because Xu Luzhi was not yet an adult, so she kept her hidden affection deep in her heart, taking care of Xu Luzhi from a distance.
Xu Luzhi was happy to have someone fend off admirers. She acted like a workaholic, feigning ignorance of any romantic undertones. Her pure and bright gaze made those interested feel a sense of guilt, yet it also made them more eager to tempt her into “falling.”
Xu Luzhi pretended not to notice and instead complained to Lin Qingyue on the phone, starting with a sigh.
Lin Qingyue immediately grew tense: “What’s wrong?”
Xu Luzhi leaned her head back slightly, enjoying the moment, resting against the balcony railing. Listening to Lin Qingyue’s voice, which was seductive without being vulgar, she felt her whole body relax.
She let out a contented, pleased hum before slowly saying, “What should I do? It seems to be just like what older sister thought quite a few senior female students seem very concerned about me. Do they perhaps have feelings for me?”
There was a long silence on the other end. Lin Qingyue took a light breath and asked lazily, “What kind of senior students?”
She adopted an air of nonchalance, but a subtle emotion still slipped through.
As if chewing a lemon, a faint sourness made Xu Luzhi feel delighted.
She added fuel to the fire, laughing lightly, “Just senior students, yes. Um, from various departments, with great grades, and they’re all good-looking, and they have lots of awards and such. Oh, there might have been some senior male students too, I can’t quite remember.”
“Looks like our little Zhizhi is quite popular,” Lin Qingyue said, picturing Xu Luzhi surrounded by a group of admirers, the center of attention which was how it should be, but it was annoying to look at.
Xu Luzhi chuckled modestly, “No, maybe they just needed something from me.”
Lin Qingyue closed her eyes and guessed casually, “Did they ask you out for meals or to see a movie?”
Xu Luzhi exclaimed in surprise, “Eh? How does sister know so clearly?”
Lin Qingyue snorted lightly. What else would college students do on dates but eat, watch movies, and go shopping?
She asked, “So, did you go?”
Xu Luzhi giggled, “I’m so busy, I didn’t have time to go. I told them to all go together.”
It just so happened that some of the invitations overlapped in time, so Xu Luzhi introduced two senior female students to each other, and some even went straight to a hotel after the movie.
As expected of Lincheng Women’s University.
“Little Zhizhi is indeed busy,” Lin Qingyue said, letting out a sigh of relief upon hearing the laughter on the other end, yet she also felt a bit annoyed at her own excessive concern and worry.
The usually unrestrained Lin Qingyue became shy in front of the younger girl, and her words became laced with jealousy and subtle barbs. However, spoken in her low, smoky voice, Xu Luzhi still took it as a pleasure to listen to.
“Mmm, very busy, but I still want to call sister.” Xu Luzhi was good at sweet talk, but it wasn’t deliberate; it came from the purest sincerity. No matter how busy she was, she would genuinely think of Lin Qingyue for a while. The thought of her sister filled her with motivation, enough to work intensely for ten more hours. She had to grow up fast to become a steady shoulder for her sister to lean on. Of course, she wouldn’t sacrifice time with Lin Qingyue, striving to balance the future and the present. The yet-to-be-adult Xu Luzhi was already shouldering so much and handling it with ease.
Lin Qingyue murmured, “Do you miss me that much?” Her voice carried a hint of grievance, “Then why haven’t I seen you in so long?”
“Sister will see me soon,” Xu Luzhi soothed her.
“How soon?” Lin Qingyue asked lazily, her peach blossom eyes rippling with moisture, “Three, two, one, I want you to appear right now.”
“Then… sister, open the door,” Xu Luzhi said with a smile, her voice coinciding with the sound coming from outside the door.
Lin Qingyue was stunned for a moment, not expecting Xu Luzhi to act so fast. She instinctively rushed to the door, opened it, and there stood the young girl, her smile radiant.
“Sister,” Xu Luzhi took a small step back, calling out somewhat restrainedly.
She had grown taller. The gap that was almost a full head between her and Lin Qingyue was now only half a head. Another part of her had grown too; her old undergarments were almost too tight.
After days apart, the woman before her had a graceful figure and an even more enchanting beauty, exuding a lovely fragrance, with skin like milk that made one want to lean in and take a bite. No matter how many people she met, the usually confident and noble Xu Luzhi instinctively wanted to wag her tail in front of Lin Qingyue. One more glance, and the surging excitement she could no longer suppress made her call out, “Sister.”
Lin Qingyue slightly raised her peach blossom eyes, impossibly beautiful. She called out softly, “Zhizhi.” Her smile was stunning, her eyes flowing with light, indescribably seductive.
As their eyes met, they read each other’s intentions, as if they had waited a very, very long time.
Xu Luzhi could no longer restrain herself. She lunged forward in one swift move, crashing into Lin Qingyue’s embrace, calling out repeatedly, “Sister, sister…”
Lin Qingyue tightly held the young girl’s slender waist, responding in a low voice, “Zhizhi, I’m here.”
Xu Luzhi’s lips brushed against Lin Qingyue’s fair neck. Their bodies pressed tightly together, their hearts beating hotly, gradually synchronizing their rhythm.
Xu Luzhi let out an unbearable muffled groan. She wanted to bite Lin Qingyue’s earlobe to vent, but she dared not desecrate her sister, so she could only repeat, “Sister, sister, sister…” The simplest two words were like some kind of bewitching secret spell, completely captivating her, making her fall eternally, plunging into the abyss. Just by chanting those two words, she felt as if she had gained endless courage.
“Zhizhi,” Lin Qingyue was a little unaccustomed to such fervor, but her body honestly pressed tightly against Xu Luzhi’s, so hot that she couldn’t breathe. Yet, this weight and pressure made her feel secure. It was as if an empty space in her heart was filled. She leaned instinctively closer to Xu Luzhi, finally feeling that something was different from before.
Lin Qingyue’s peach blossom eyes were full of smiles, her words clearly teasing: “It seems you’ve grown up, little Zhizhi.”
The girl who used to blush easily when teased now smiled openly without changing her expression: “Mmm.” She deliberately straightened her back, furrowed her brow in mock distress, and whined playfully to Lin Qingyue, “Sister, my undergarments are too tight. Will you come with me to pick out some new ones?”
Lin Qingyue’s gaze dropped, settled on a certain spot, and she couldn’t look away. She tilted her head and said helplessly, “You’re not wearing any, are you?”
“Exactly,” Xu Luzhi said righteously, “Isn’t it because they’re too tight?” She leaned in closer, gently blowing warm air into Lin Qingyue’s ear, looking quite smug, “Don’t worry, sister, I walked over with an umbrella, no one saw.” Only sister gets to see.
Lin Qingyue realized the hidden meaning in her words, feeling both shy and annoyed, and lightly flicked Xu Luzhi’s nose: “Shameless.”
Xu Luzhi beamed at Lin Qingyue, her eyes curving up, and proactively admitted her ‘fault’: “Then can sister lend me some to wear first?”
Lin Qingyue replied languidly, “Mine are too big; you won’t be able to wear them.”
Despite saying that, she still went into the room and picked out two of the simplest styles, tossing them in front of Xu Luzhi: “Try them on.”
Xu Luzhi’s eyes lit up, and she drew the curtains before starting to unbutton her shirt. In front of her sister, completely without shame.
