Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 80.1
Father Xu spoke up, “Why isn’t Weiwei on board yet?”
Mother Xu quickly said, “Maybe she was held up by something, Zhizhi…”
Before she could finish speaking, Xu Luzhi quickly stood up, “I’ll go look for my sister. She just mentioned she left something behind.”
Father Xu instructed, “Go quickly and come back.”
Xu Luzhi hurriedly jumped off the cabin, hesitating as she approached the direction where the two people were, unsure if she should interrupt their atmosphere.
Unexpectedly, she was too close to avoid hearing a few snippets of their conversation, and it didn’t sound like the reluctant farewell she had imagined.
Xu Luwei: “I have to go now.”
Yi Liang: “Yeah, I’ll be getting on a plane soon too.”
Xu Luwei: “…I’ll be back in Weicheng in a couple of days.”
Yi Liang: “Mm, I have to go back to school too.”
There was no mention of their future relationship; the tone was flat, as if they were just two friends chatting, or perhaps concluding a business handover.
Hearing this made Xu Luzhi feel uncomfortable, and she wanted to move further away, but suddenly she saw something glittering brightly, instantly dazzling her eyes.
Xu Luwei calmly handed the item in her hand over, “I heard you threw away the last one… I made you another one.”
Yi Liang looked over; it was a shimmering gold bracelet, set with a few tiny diamonds, sparkling brilliantly like starlight.
Xu Luwei explained, “It’s too noisy, so I didn’t add a bell.”
Yi Liang shook her head, “It’s not appropriate to wear this while working at a street stall.” Wearing a cheap silver bracelet was fine, but wearing one made of gold was like begging with a golden bowl.
Xu Luwei was momentarily speechless but still held it out, not moving.
Yi Liang, however, smiled brilliantly and laughed easily, “Next time, you can put it on for me yourself.”
Xu Luwei’s eyes lit up, and she smiled with a joy she had never shown before, “Okay.”
She stood up and turned to Xu Luzhi, who was standing behind her, with a gentle smile, “Let’s go home, Zhizhi.”
Xu Luzhi felt as if she had never seen her sister this happy before, so happy that her whole being seemed to radiate light. Perhaps it was because she had finally been brave, or perhaps because she had gained immense courage from her partner.
After returning from the island trip, the summer vacation was essentially over.
Xu Luwei would soon return to work in Weicheng, often being distracted and absent-minded throughout the day. Even when helping Xu Luzhi pack her luggage, she would frequently drift off.
Xu Luzhi couldn’t help but gently tickle her. Seeing Xu Luwei snap back as if awakening from a dream, she smiled playfully, “What’s wrong? Missing her?”
Faced with her teasing younger sister, Xu Luwei managed a wry smile and lightly tapped her head, “Stop overthinking everything.”
Xu Luzhi was unconvinced, “I’m not overthinking! You just can’t wait to go back to Weicheng, right?”
Xu Luwei calmed down and smiled frankly, “Yes, I really want to. So what?”
Xu Luzhi immediately became serious and said earnestly, “If you want to go, then go. You don’t always have to worry about me.”
“I’m grown up now, Sister.”
Xu Luwei was momentarily stunned, taking a moment to realize the thoughtfulness behind Xu Luzhi’s words. Her sister had indeed grown up, so clever that she was already capable of sharing her burdens. She lowered her head, resting her chin gently on her sister’s hair, and murmured softly, “Okay.” Perhaps sometimes, she shouldn’t always carry everything by herself.
Xu Luzhi’s luggage was packed, and she could register at Lin University in a couple of days. These past few days had been too busy for her to visit Lin Qingyue, but she never missed sending her good morning and good night messages daily.
Lin University was quite far from home but very close to where Lin Qingyue lived. After careful consideration, her parents cleared out a small apartment near the Lin University gate for Xu Luzhi to live in, instructing Aunt Lin to clean and cook every few days.
Xu Luzhi excitedly shared the news with Lin Qingyue, “Sister, we’ll be neighbors from now on!”
Lin Qingyue was unexpectedly slow to reply, typing slowly, “I thought you’d want to stay at my place.” Given the child’s persistent nature, wouldn’t close proximity be better for more contact?
Xu Luzhi explained seriously, “That won’t do. Distance creates beauty, Sister.” Maintaining a certain distance, following closely but not too closely, and occasionally making Sister feel a slight sense of crisis that’s what keeps things sustainable. Otherwise, there would be no challenge!
Before heading to Lin University, Xu Luzhi had to return to high school once, partly to pick up some books left in the classroom and partly to say goodbye to teachers and classmates. Ying Ying and Fu Shixuan were very reluctant to see her go, lamenting that they wouldn’t have the top student to help them with problems anymore. However, since they had been friends since childhood, they weren’t overly sad.
Xu Luzhi humorously comforted them, then went to the office to bid farewell to the teachers one by one. The teachers were naturally both pleased and sad to see such a top student leave, urging her and Xu Luwei to visit the school often. She had also prepared homemade small desserts and milk tea for all her classmates, adding a little brightness to the boring routine of starting senior year early.
Xu Luzhi had always been popular everyone liked her. She was beautiful, not arrogant, easygoing, and approachablenthe ideal image of a campus beauty and top student. After saying goodbye to the whole class, some classmates chased after her one by one to express their feelings. Xu Luzhi patiently listened to them all, smiling as she bid farewell.
Finally, a boy ran up behind her, panting, whom Xu Luzhi recognized as Jiang Duo the one who had rashly confessed at her birthday party and was later rejected by Lin Qingyue. Because of Lin Qingyue’s involvement, she remembered him particularly vividly.
Xu Luzhi stopped walking and asked politely, “Is something wrong, classmate?”
Jiang Duo scratched his head and spoke hesitantly, “I… I always feel like last time was fake.”
Xu Luzhi didn’t understand, “What was fake?”
“Th-that liking girls.” Jiang Duo became anxious and blurted out, “How can a girl like girls? That, that means… being a homosexual!” Lin Qingyue’s oppressive aura was too strong; he had initially been fooled by her smiling face but later thought it was wrong upon reflection. How could someone as pure and bright as Xu Luzhi be homosexual? She must have been lying just to scare him away to reject him! Jiang Duo anxiously explained, “Zhizhi, if you reject me, I have nothing to say. Just give me a standard to aim for, so lying is pointless… You’re so good, how could you be homosexual!”
The more he spoke, the colder Xu Luzhi’s expression became, eventually turning as cold as frost.
She spoke, her voice cold like shattered jade, interrupting Jiang Duo’s incessant rambling, “Are you done talking?”
“What do you mean?” Jiang Duo was startled by her chilling aura and involuntarily took two steps back, but he was still unconvinced, laughing awkwardly, “Hahahaha, you couldn’t actually be a homosexual, could you…”
“Shut up.” Xu Luzhi raised her chin proudly, an aura of nobility surrounding her. One glance was enough to silence Jiang Duo into utter fear. He had never found this clear eyed and lovely girl so terrifying, as if she had encountered something momentous, so she spread out all her wings to protect the one she wanted to shield, ensuring she wouldn’t be harmed in the slightest. In plain terms, she was very ‘Alpha.’
Xu Luzhi stepped forward, as if casually stepping on his heart. Jiang Duo could only watch as his ‘sun’ smiled sweetly, openly admitting without evasion, “I like homosexuals.” Xu Luzhi tilted her head, smiling sweetly, “I like Sister. Is there a problem with that?” Even if there were, it had nothing to do with an irrelevant person. Those who block me, die.
