Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 66
Xu Luzhi found Xu Luwei on the other side of the beach.
Just as she had imagined, Xu Luwei’s life was dull and uninteresting. Even on this trip, the most reckless thing she did was wear a conservative swimsuit, sit on a reef, and let her feet soak in the water.
From the side, her long, wavy hair hung down, covering half of her profile. Her snow-white feet gently stirred the waves, her eyes were downcast, and her bare hands rested lightly on the rock surface.
The slowly setting sun coated the quietly sitting woman in a layer of gold, making her look like a goddess who had guarded a grotto for a thousand years her expression gentle and calm, yet inviolable.
She was like dry wood and cold ashes. Lifeless.
“Jie-jie (Sister)!” Xu Luzhi called out from a distance, her clear, crisp tone interrupting Xu Luwei’s long, endless daze.
“Zhizhi,” Xu Luwei smiled slightly upon seeing who it was, calling her name softly.
Xu Luzhi scrutinized her sister’s expression a faint joy. Going out to travel was naturally happy and relaxing for her, but she didn’t seem especially happy.
However, she had always been this way since childhood neither sad nor happy, a true gentlewoman’s demeanor.
Xu Luzhi suddenly wanted to know what kind of expression Xu Luwei would wear in front of Yi Liang. Would she still be so indifferent, or would she laugh and cry?
Thinking of the fleeting look of loneliness in Xu Luwei’s eyes that day, Xu Luzhi’s heart was gently tugged, and an inexplicable surge of annoyance towards Yi Liang arose.
It was she who had stirred Xu Luwei’s emotions, and she who had caused Xu Luwei such sadness.
I’ll hit her every time I see her.
“Sister, drink this.” Xu Luzhi handed over the coconut she had just bought, smiling sweetly. “You must be thirsty after sitting for so long.”
“Zhizhi is so thoughtful.” Xu Luwei took the coconut and slowly sipped it. The coconut water was cool and refreshing, but bland, much like her current state of mind.
Especially since she didn’t need to look to guess what her sister had been up to for the past half-day, which only highlighted her own isolation and melancholy.
Xu Luzhi quietly walked alongside Xu Luwei, involuntarily sticking out her tongue.
She would bring a dozen oysters for Lin Qingyue, but she wouldn’t bring any for Xu Luwei, not even if it killed her.
Something suddenly occurred to her, and she couldn’t help but ask, “Sister, have you seen anyone?”
Xu Luwei looked up at her, confused. “What?”
“Nothing,” Xu Luzhi shut up, realizing she was asking a stupid question.
If Xu Luwei had really run into Yi Liang, it would have been hard for her to sit on the reef so peacefully.
Xu Luwei vaguely sensed something, but after a moment, she absentmindedly shook her head.
That beautiful, cruel-hearted girl must have completely forgotten about her long ago.
Xu Luzhi had already prepared a set of excuses and, during dinner, enthusiastically recounted her afternoon’s adventures to her parents, vividly and colorfully, even including details like “a crab pinched my toe.”
Neither Xu Father nor Xu Mother suspected a thing, and the family atmosphere was joyful. Only Xu Luwei smiled with pursed lips, marveling at her sister’s growing ability to lie with a straight face.
She just relied on her innocent face to spout nonsense in a serious manner.
After enjoying family dinner time, the entire family went for a walk.
Xu Luzhi naturally enjoyed the time spent with her parents and sister, but she was a little distracted, her mind constantly drifting to Lin Qingyue.
She had her family with her, but her sister was all alone, and all the friends from her stories were presumably still in Weicheng.
Therefore, all of Lin Qingyue’s previous experiences had been written off. How anxious she must have been, coming alone to a strange city, even though she was a few years older than herself.
Yet, the Lin Qingyue she saw was always composed and nonchalant, as if nothing in the world was more important than drinking, and she never worried about the future.
How much practice did it take to learn such maturity?
Xu Luzhi, having observed much since childhood, had a sharper mind. Thinking of this, she gently inhaled, feeling an unspeakable pang of heartache.
If only she were the same age as Xu Luwei, she could have been with Lin Qingyue from the start, and having someone by her side would have spared her so much suffering.
But she was so young; by the time she met Lin Qingyue, the turbulent times had long passed, leaving behind only peace and indifference.
She didn’t know if this was fortunate or unfortunate for her.
Xu Luzhi was momentarily lost in thought, a state instantly noticed by Xu Mother, who gently called out to her, “Zhizhi, what are you thinking about?”
She immediately snapped back, “Nothing.”
She casually pointed to a brightly lit area: “This place looks beautiful, are they holding some event tonight?”
Following Xu Luzhi’s finger, the whole family looked in that direction. A huge cruise ship was quietly moored by the shore, its magnificent lights visible from a distance.
Xu Father enthusiastically said, “Let’s go have a look.”
Xu Luzhi couldn’t refuse and followed along. It turned out that the cruise ship was hosting an auction, grand and crowded, with all sorts of bizarre exhibits dazzling the eyes.
This was perfect for a discreet, middle aged man like Xu Father. Once seated, he didn’t want to leave. Although he only intended to bid a few million for form’s sake, he insisted on seeing who would claim the biggest item.
By the time the auction ended and the family descended from the cruise ship, it was already late at night. Xu Luzhi was yawning with fatigue, but when she looked at the beach, it was still lively with all night bonfires and dancing. The bikini clad beauties seemed like they didn’t need to sleep at all, each one full of energy.
What was more alarming was that she saw a familiar figure, or more accurately, heard a familiar sound, right in the center of the bonfire circle.
The young woman in the circle wore a fox mask over her face, had a hot body, and was twisting wantonly by the firelight to explosive music, occasionally leaning forward with clear suggestive meaning. Her wolf tail swished back and forth, radiating an imposing spirit.
With her movements, the string of silver bells on her wrist rang incessantly, as if accompanying her, adding a touch of exotic flavor.
The onlookers were of every skin color, and the dance of the mysterious Chinese girl was naturally a sight to behold. Art knows no borders every move Yi Liang made drew loud cheers and applause from the foreigners, who were far from stingy.
A small hat was placed on the ground, filled with colorful banknotes, and a QR code was thoughtfully posted to facilitate tips from domestic compatriots.
Traveling was meant to be lively, and Xu Father, who had been sleepy, now became interested again and wanted to join the fun.
Xu Luzhi’s heart skipped a beat. A quick look was fine, but if Xu Luwei recognized Yi Liang, it would be a disaster.
She could not give this bad-tempered person another chance to hurt her sister.
Just as Xu Father was about to move forward, Xu Luzhi quickly grabbed him and softly pleaded, “Daddy, I’m tired…”
Xu Father looked back. His younger daughter was indeed sleepy, her head nodding she looked like she was about to fall asleep.
Xu Mother also chimed in, “It’s past midnight. Let’s go back and sleep.”
“Alright, let’s head back then.” Xu Father didn’t mind and turned around. He originally wanted to carry his younger daughter on his shoulder but, after testing her weight, found that Xu Luzhi had grown quite a bit. “She’s grown up, can’t carry her anymore!”
He then instructed, “Weiwei, hold Zhizhi’s hand well.”
Xu Luwei replied with a sound. She was also a little tired, her head slightly lowered, and she held her sister’s soft little hand, walking silently toward the hotel.
She was so tired that the faint silver bell sounds in the wind didn’t register in her ears, and she didn’t have the time to ponder the minimal possibility.
Xu Luzhi stumbled a bit, walking with her head down, but she couldn’t help but squeeze out a triumphant smile.
After all these years, she had finally protected her sister.
Fatigue made her mind hazy. Back at the hotel, Xu Luzhi mechanically finished washing up, changed into her pajamas, and went to sleep. Between being drowsy and half-awake, Lin Qingyue’s smiling face suddenly surfaced in her mind.
She woke up abruptly, clutching the pillow, remembering her promise to Lin Qingyue.
She glanced at the time two in the morning.
At this hour, Lin Qingyue was probably long asleep, wasn’t she?
But… thinking of the woman’s peach-blossom eyes filled with laughter and the hot words whispered in her ear, Xu Luzhi couldn’t fall asleep.
After tossing and turning a few times, she inexplicably imagined Lin Qingyue’s lonely appearance, drinking by a solitary lamp late into the night just to wait for her, and her heart grew even more reluctant.
As she thought, the woman in her mind suddenly turned and looked at her, lowered her eyes in a wronged expression, and softly accused her of breaking her promise.
Xu Luzhi bolted upright. The room was bright with light. She quickly got out of bed, put on her shoes, and without hesitation, turned the doorknob.
Regardless, she had to go and see. She wouldn’t feel at ease until she confirmed Lin Qingyue was fine.
Otherwise, wouldn’t that be breaking her word? She had promised to keep an eye on her sister.
The girl tiptoed out of the room. The hotel corridor was dim, with only the wall lamps casting a faint glow.
She knew Lin Qingyue’s room number it was on the same floor, but she had to walk around a few corners.
Xu Luzhi unconsciously hugged the pillow tighter, holding her breath with every step, sinking steadily into the thick carpet.
She kept her body low, like a guilty thief. Just as she managed to reach the corner, a dark figure bumped into her head-on.
The figure seemed equally stealthy.
Xu Luzhi suppressed her instinct to scream, steadied herself with a slight wobble, but the other person, though taller than her, still stumbled back two steps, and a faint sound of silver bells came from them.
Under the light of the wall lamp, Xu Luzhi clearly saw Yi Liang’s bold and beautiful face. Yi Liang also recognized Xu Luzhi, dressed in cute pajamas but with a deep, cunning mind.
Both of them thought of the same phrase: Foes are destined to meet.
They glanced at each other, and Yi Liang snorted, turning to walk on. Although Xu Luzhi was ruthless, she was Xu Luwei’s sister after all, so a direct conflict was unwise.
But Xu Luzhi instinctively blocked her.
Yi Liang grew a little impatient, lowering her voice, “I’m sorry, okay?”
Xu Luzhi’s eyes widened, and she asked cautiously, “Where are you going?”
In the middle of the night, sneaking around, and so close to her sister’s room. She absolutely had to be on guard.
“Nowhere,” Yi Liang said testily. “Delivering takeout, is that not allowed?”
Only then did Xu Luzhi notice the bag in Yi Liang’s hand. She immediately began to wonder if there was even such a thing as ‘takeout’ abroad, and who would order delivery in the dead of night.
She sneered, “Don’t tell me the one who ordered takeout is my sister?”
Seeing that Xu Luzhi had figured it out, Yi Liang adopted a defiant, what are you going to do about it attitude, showing her the delivery label. “Yes, and I didn’t force her to order it, so what?”
Xu Luzhi focused and saw that the room number and phone number listed were indeed Xu Luwei’s.
What was worse, the item in the bag was tightly wrapped, yet she could vaguely make out that it was a pink colored… s-e-x toy.
