Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 56
Lin Qingyue smoothed out Xu Luzhi’s feelings, praising her lightly, which made the little girl beam with smiles. She then pressed her advantage, saying, “Sister, is what you said last time still on?”
Lin Qingyue paused, “What did I say?”
“You said that if I cooked, you would come to my house for dinner,” Xu Luzhi said righteously, “Sister said it in person, you’re not allowed to go back on your word.”
Lin Qingyue propped her head up, gently nudging the egg in her bowl with her chopsticks, recalling her casual remark.
It had only been an offhand comment back then, she never expected the girl to take it to heart so much, eagerly waiting to cook for her.
And for that, she had put in quite a bit of effort, practicing until today.
Lin Qingyue murmured, “Is this the surprise you mentioned?”
Xu Luzhi nodded seriously, “Yes, I want to cook delicious food for Sister.”
That way, Sister could be close to her every day.
Even if they weren’t physically close, just sitting at the same table eating made her full of joy.
Looking at the girl’s innocent and bright expression, Lin Qingyue’s heart softened, but she still shook her head, “No.”
Xu Luzhi’s face immediately fell, “Why not? Sister isn’t keeping her word!”
Lin Qingyue chuckled and said softly, “You still have your sister at home; it’s not convenient.”
As she said this, a suspicious blush crept onto her cheeks. She lowered her gaze slightly, her eyes shifting, the implication quite clear.
Xu Luzhi suddenly understood; Sister was shy.
If she didn’t mean anything else, why would she be shy?
Thinking of the affection contained within that lowered gaze, Xu Luzhi felt like she’d been fed a piece of candy. Her face brightened, and she said softly, “Then, can I eat at your house?”
To cook for Sister every day.
“But your mom and dad will miss you,” Lin Qingyue reminded her.
Xu Luzhi pouted, only then realizing that her parents didn’t allow her to eat dinner out every night.
Lovers and family are often hard to satisfy simultaneously.
She watched Lin Qingyue eat with obvious enjoyment, and a ripple of emotion stirred in her heart again.
Xu Luzhi was easily satisfied; one moment of happiness was enough for her to savor for a long time.
After returning home feeling content, Xu Luzhi was surprised to see her parents, who had been away on a business trip for many days, in the living room.
“Dad, Mom!” Xu Luzhi happily rushed over, throwing herself into her mother’s arms, affectionately rubbing against her, “You’re back!”
“Mm, after so many days, has Zhizhi been obedient?” Mother Xu continuously stroked Xu Luzhi’s head, saying softly.
Xu Luwei answered in her stead, “Zhizhi was very good I took her to get her hair cut.”
Xu Luzhi then noticed her older sister standing quietly to the side and stuck her tongue out at her with a smile.
After a warm reunion, Mother Xu examined Xu Luzhi’s appearance and nodded affirmatively, “Zhizhi looks cute with long hair too.”
Father Xu made no comment, only saying, “Next time, tell the family in advance.”
Xu Luzhi cheerfully agreed and went to check out the gifts her parents brought her, picking one up and putting another down; she loved every single one.
Father Xu patted his younger daughter’s head and asked casually, “More than half of summer vacation is over, have you decided yet?”
“Decided what?” Xu Luzhi didn’t immediately understand what they were talking about.
Xu Luwei explained on her behalf, “Are you continuing with the third year of high school, or going directly to university?”
Xu Luzhi then realized they were asking about her academics.
It was indeed a headache-inducing matter, which is why she had put it off until now, but it had reached the point where she couldn’t delay any longer as school was about to start.
Xu Luzhi’s grades and competition results had already secured her an unconditional admission spot, allowing her to pick between Tsinghua and Peking University. However, she was still young and Beijing was far away, so her family worried about her being mistreated there, which is why no final decision had been made.
If she had to choose, she could spend another year in the third year of high school. That would mean complete freedom no classes, no homework, just doing whatever she wanted but it seemed like a waste of time.
Xu Luzhi said quietly, “I don’t want to go to Beijing.”
Beijing was too far; it took several hours by plane to get home, and she was reluctant to leave.
Furthermore, there was someone she cared for in Lincheng. She had originally planned to use a year to get close to them; if she were so far away, what would be the point of that year?
Long distance relationships were already terrifying; a long-distance secret crush… she didn’t even dare to think about it.
Xu Luwei glanced at her deeply but said nothing.
Mother Xu nodded, sighing softly, “You’re still young; we also don’t feel comfortable with you being so far from home.”
Father Xu shook his head, “We can’t let the future be ruined just because you miss home. If it really comes to that, we’ll just move to Beijing.”
Father Xu said this jokingly. The foundation of the Xu family’s business was in Lincheng it wasn’t easy to move. However, Xu Luzhi still felt a pang of fear, worried that they might actually do it.
If they truly moved, she would have no excuse not to go to Beijing.
Xu Luzhi quickly shook her head, “How can that be? I’m only studying for a few years; there’s no need to move the whole family.”
“That’s true. No matter where Zhizhi goes, she’ll have to come back after finishing her studies,” Mother Xu rested her hand on her younger daughter’s shoulder, her eyes full of relief. “It’s okay for your sister to not be too far away, but ah, we still hope to have you nearby.”
Perhaps all parents hope their children will become successful and accomplished while also not wanting them too far away ideally living right next door.
A wave of warmth washed over Xu Luzhi. She didn’t want to leave her parents either. She leaned against Mother Xu’s arm for a while and said softly, “I want to… attend Lincheng University for a preparatory year first.”
As soon as she said this, everyone was startled. They belatedly remembered that this option did indeed exist.
It was just that they hadn’t considered it and had directly overlooked it.
“I’m young, so I can attend a preparatory year at Lincheng University first to get familiar with things, and then officially enroll in university next year. This way, I’ll be close to home and won’t waste time,” Xu Luzhi explained.
Lincheng University was also a good school, considered one of the top three in the country. Upon hearing this, Father and Mother Xu pondered for a long time, exchanging a few glances.
Father Xu finally nodded, “That’s acceptable, but once you get to university, don’t be too playful and think about coming home all day.”
Although his words sounded serious, there was a smile on his face, showing his great affection for his younger daughter.
Xu Luzhi also smiled happily. Just as she was about to go upstairs to her room, Xu Luwei gently pinched her palm and steered her away.
Xu Luwei led her into her own room and looked at her with a half-smile, “Zhizhi, do you really want to go to Lincheng University?”
Xu Luzhi nodded affirmatively. After a moment, she suddenly burst out laughing, “Sister, I know what you’re thinking!”
Xu Luwei feigned confusion, “Tell me.”
Xu Luzhi blinked her big eyes and asked with a grin, “Are you worried that because of… I will give up my future?”
She didn’t say what the reason was, but they both knew clearly.
After so many years, the only person who could captivate Xu Luzhi to this extent, causing her older sister concern, was Lin Qingyue alone.
Xu Luwei chuckled lightly, “What do you think?”
“Hehe.” Xu Luzhi mischievously leaned in and couldn’t help but hug Xu Luwei, “Sister, in your heart, am I that kind of person?”
The girl blinked her round eyes, appearing innocent, her appearance still youthful, but her words were disproportionately mature.
Xu Luwei stroked her long hair and sighed softly, “Who knows.”
When one’s first love blossoms, the feelings are most intense; going through mountains of blades or seas of fire is said in a single breath. Many people give up their college entrance exams for it.
She trusted Lin Qingyue, and she trusted Xu Luzhi, but that didn’t stop her, as the elder sister, from having an extra layer of worry.
This required a personal confirmation.
Yet, Xu Luzhi laughed as if nothing were wrong, “Sister, there is no one more rational than you. If I were that impulsive, wouldn’t I be unworthy of being your little sister?”
Her tone was full of pride; she wasn’t just any ordinary young girl she was Xu Luzhi, so every step had to be well-thought-out.
Seeing her sister like this, Xu Luwei felt slightly relieved and cautioned her, “No matter what, you must discuss it with me, don’t act impulsively.”
Everyone likes to see people risk everything for love, but perhaps Lin Qingyue wouldn’t.
Xu Luzhi understood clearly and nodded firmly, “Absolutely!”
By making this decision, she could stay in Lincheng, giving her more opportunities to interact with Lin Qingyue, and she could also properly study some knowledge at Lincheng University.
However, the enthusiasm of Senior Sister Zhao Ru would be a bit troublesome, but it was considered the smallest trouble.
She suddenly thought of Lulu. She heard that the proprietress was also a professor at Lincheng University, and perhaps she could ask for advice on how she managed to win over the boss.
Xu Luzhi’s heart was filled with joy; she felt the future was bright. At this moment, Xu Luwei casually told her another piece of good news: “Mom and Dad are back from their business trip, and they’re taking us on a week-long trip to an island.”
Xu Luzhi: “!”
“Really?” The joy on the young girl’s face was unmistakable; she was still a child, excited to hear about playing.
“Of course, it’s true,” Xu Luwei smiled, “It’s next week. Start preparing well.”
When Xu Luzhi pushed open her bedroom door, the smile on her lips couldn’t be suppressed. In truth, her family arranged vacations every year, and she could go anytime if she wanted to travel.
But this time, the whole family would be together, it was an island, and they would be there for a whole week.
Xu Luzhi lay down beautifully on her princess bed, the image of ocean waves and seagulls already appearing in her mind, feeling the refreshing sea breeze on her face.
However… she immediately thought of Lin Qingyue, and her previously high spirits were tinged with a bit of reluctance.
The island trip was certainly fun, and traveling with the whole family was even better, but without Lin Qingyue by her side, even the best scenery seemed bland.
But the island trip was expensive, and her sister had to go to work every day, so how could she come along?
Xu Luzhi stared blankly at the ceiling for a while, then suddenly remembered what Lulu had told her, and she scrambled up.
No, she absolutely had to make Lin Qingyue appear on the island too!
Lulu had told her that as long as she kept thinking about it, her wishes would become reality.
Even though she was over thirty now, back then she was just like Xu Luzhi a genius girl with a beautiful appearance. But one day, she suddenly fell for an older woman.
She pursued her relentlessly, using every trick in the book, and finally won over her beloved.
Lulu didn’t share the specific details, but she looked deeply at Xu Luzhi, her childlike voice pleasant, “I can give you necessary help, but… the prerequisite is that you must not give up.”
If she were to give up halfway, it wouldn’t be worth the trouble.
Facing that doll-like face, Xu Luzhi said seriously, “I won’t give up.”
She would wait until she turned eighteen, not a day less.
If by eighteen, Sister still didn’t like her, then she would find another way.
But for now, she would give her all to chase a dream.
