Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 22.2
Xu Luwei didn’t say whom she missed. Xu Luzhi defaulted to Lin Qingyue, or rather, it was very likely Lin Qingyue.
She let out a cold laugh. This statement truly matched the feeling in her heart.
Xu Luzhi observed carefully; within a few seconds, the tips of Xu Luwei’s ears turned red again, and her detached gaze became slightly scattered, as if a sore spot had been poked.
“Oh, then I miss her too.” Xu Luzhi said quietly but firmly, intentionally emphasizing the word “too.”
It didn’t matter if they missed the same person… she was going to miss her first, no matter what.
Xu Luwei let out a soft “Mm,” making no statement, but only lowered her eyes and slowly walked past her.
The scent of her bitter tea perfume drifted perfectly into Xu Luzhi’s nose. Her long hair swayed, making one feel restless.
Xu Luzhi curved her lips at her sister’s retreating back, finding it somewhat amusing. It seemed the all-capable Xu Luwei also became flustered when facing matters of the heart.
She also felt a bit dejected. Where was she inferior to Xu Luwei? Wasn’t it just because she was a little younger?
In a few more years, she would be the same age.
She could do even better.
For the next two days, Xu Luzhi stayed quietly in her room, doing a few math problems and playing a few computer games.
She had become quite interested in programming lately and started trying to slowly create a small program, almost to the point of forgetting to eat or sleep. Even her longing for Lin Qingyue had faded a little.
She would only talk to Yingying and Fu Shixuan to explain a couple of problems when they needed help, but it wasn’t for free; everything was noted down to be calculated after school started.
Her relationship with Xu Luwei was lukewarm. Xu’s father and mother, however, brought up the plan for a summer vacation trip, finalizing a location Xu Luzhi had wanted to visit for a long time, which made her joyful for a while.
Xu Luzhi once again finished the lunch meticulously prepared by Aunt Lin, munching on papaya and drinking black sesame paste as usual. Her gaze caught a few gardenia flowers that had wilted on the tree outside the door.
The originally snow white, blooming petals now looked withered and faintly yellowed with decay, standing out starkly against the fresh flowers on the branch.
It was very irritating to look at.
Xu Luzhi unconsciously spoke out: “Aunt Lin.”
Aunt Lin asked, “What is it?”
She pointed to the few withered flowers on the branch: “These few have withered.”
“Oh, that’s no big deal.” Aunt Lin immediately walked over, snipped off the few withered flowers, and threw them into the trash pile. “Flowers have a blooming period; they wither after a few days. It’s a common thing.”
“Oh,” Xu Luzhi responded dully. Under Aunt Lin’s trimming, the trees in the yard were soon repaired, the snow-white flowers all neat, with no sign of wilting.
When Xu Luzhi walked past the trash pile, she painfully identified one or two discarded gardenias that were already mixed with the garbage, becoming dirty and rotten. She only glanced at them once before immediately erasing the image from her mind.
Withered gardenias were like a young girl’s budding summer feelings they came quickly and left quickly, leaving no trace like flowing water.
However, in the hazy moment between waking and sleeping in the early morning, Xu Luzhi’s mind couldn’t help but think of Lin Qingyue, of the enchanting older sister.
The sister who fascinated her, the sister she was willing to sink into.
Sister, I miss you so much, do you know?
Xu Luzhi felt she was going crazy. But while denouncing herself, she couldn’t help but repeatedly sketch Lin Qingyue’s appearance in her mind, as if doing so could make her possess her alone.
Exhausted from another night of sleepless yearning, she turned over and got out of bed. After staring blankly for a while, she went to take a shower.
Amidst the splashing sound of the water, Xu Luzhi vaguely heard a message notification sound.
Her heart skipped a beat. This was a notification sound she had set specifically for one person: a crisp bird chirp, like one echoing from a distant valley, exceptionally serene.
It made one think of the hazy melody heard through the water that day.
But since setting it, it had never sounded again.
Today… Xu Luzhi didn’t bother to get dressed, hurriedly wrapping herself in a bath towel and rushing out of the bathroom. She almost slipped because she moved too quickly.
Her hand was wet, and it took her a while to unlock the fingerprint scanner. She brought the phone close to her eyes, and the message was clearly reflected in her view.
Lin Qingyue Sister: “Your umbrella.”
Below it was a picture: her small floral umbrella lying neatly on the table, tied up perfectly.
Xu Luzhi sent an “Mm-mm” emoji reply, feeling an unexplainable joy in her heart, though the smile on her lips was faint.
She had deliberately left it there, having waited for this day for a long time.
But given Lin Qingyue’s personality, the time she would humble herself to call her to pick it up would probably be the time she was about to leave.
So every day, Xu Luzhi both hoped to receive the message and hoped not to.
Even if they couldn’t meet, as long as she knew she was still in the same city, there was still hope.
Another message came in, very brief.
Lin Qingyue Sister: “Come get it when you’re free.”
Xu Luzhi lowered her eyes and typed: “I’ll be right there.”
She was only wrapped in a bath towel, directly facing the air conditioning vent, but she didn’t feel cold at all.
An inexplicable heat climbed up her spine. She took a deep breath, ignored drying herself, and ran to the closet to find clothes.
She picked and chose, but every outfit felt too pure and plain, clearly labeling her as a high school student at a glance.
Xu Luzhi pouted. She couldn’t even find an outfit that was slightly more alluring. She should go shopping with Fu Shixuan another day.
But a thought turned, and Xu Luzhi still chose a pure white dress, paired with a light green cross body bag. She turned around in front of the mirror with satisfaction, paused, and then rummaged around in the closet secretly for a while longer.
She found a pair of clean, snow-white knee-high socks.
These were bought because Yingying insisted she buy them when they were browsing boutiques, saying that this was how lolis dressed now it looked very pure.
Xu Luzhi couldn’t refuse, so she bought them, but she had left them in the closet without ever wearing them, always feeling a bit too shameful.
She was already very well-behaved dressing up as a loli was… it felt the same as wearing rabbit ears—too embarrassing to go out!
But this time, for some unspeakable purpose, Xu Luzhi stared at the snow-white knee-high socks in her hand for a while before finally giving in.
She sat on the sofa and, as if hiding a secret, quickly pulled the socks on, pulling them up and smoothing out every wrinkle.
The knee high socks bought at the boutique were of very good quality, looking pure white and sturdy, with no signs of snagging or pilling. The silky, smooth touch made one’s face blush and heart pound just by touching them.
Xu Luzhi looked at herself in the mirror again. Good. Although she was 165 cm tall, with this outfit and her purely innocent and well-behaved face, her apparent age was pushed down by several years.
From an almost adult high school girl to a high school girl with a baby face and petite figure orz.
Although it was far from the mature style she wanted, only by appearing harmless could she make Lin Qingyue lower her guard.
Xu Luzhi took a deep breath and practiced smiling in the mirror. Her round eyes curved into crescents, and faint dimples appeared on her cheeks, the very picture of gentleness.
She stood there like a little rabbit, completely non-aggressive, as if she would shatter with every move, making people want to carefully hold her in their palms.
She appeared outwardly calm, but her heart was extremely nervous.
Success or failure rested on these next few hours whether it would be a near-miss failure or a slow, gradual approach.
Zhizhi, you can do this!
Around noon, the sky was already bright, but the floor to ceiling windows of the hotel were tightly drawn, letting no light pass through.
The woman with a graceful figure lay lazily on the large bed, a thin quilt covering her small…
