Fell In Love With My Older Sister’s Friend - Chapter 19
“Oh, I forgot.” Lin Qingyue said lightly, “Then I’ll have the same as you.”
She weighed the chopsticks in her hand, her eyes slightly narrowed, as if she saw something good: “And another two of yellow wine.”
“Sister, you’re drinking again…” Xu Luzhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, and criticized her righteously, counting on her fingers, “You only had a bottle of red wine yesterday!”
“Is that so? I forgot.” Lin Qingyue casually dismissed it, picking dishes to order, “Let’s also have a plate of White Crab Stir-fried Rice Cakes.”
She subtly changed the topic.
Xu Luzhi sighed, and neatly wrote down the dishes Lin Qingyue ordered on the paper handed over by the boss.
Only, she secretly changed the two liang of yellow wine to one liang.
After a while, the heated yellow wine was served, in a small, carved pewter pot that looked quite old. Lin Qingyue picked up the handle of the pot and weighed it, immediately knowing the amount was wrong.
She looked up, and the girl was sitting properly opposite her, smiling brightly, not at all hiding her motive.
Lin Qingyue took a deep breath, wanting to say something, but remembered Xu Luzhi was paying, so she stayed silent, deciding instead to pour a cup and drink it slowly.
As soon as she picked up a wine cup, Xu Luzhi snatched it away.
Lin Qingyue was stunned for a moment, then saw the young girl diligently pull out a sanitizing wipe and clean the wine cup inside and out.
Seeing Lin Qingyue hadn’t reacted, Xu Luzhi swiftly grabbed the chopsticks from her hand too, and wiped them clean.
Still not satisfied, she wiped every cup, plate, and bowl on the table before permitting Lin Qingyue: “Pour it now.”
Lin Qingyue glanced at the young girl: “You’re quite diligent.”
Xu Luzhi said matter of factly: “I have to make sure my sister uses clean things.”
Lin Qingyue felt a warmth in her heart, an indescribable feeling, and could only quickly pour a cup full of yellow wine and take a sip.
Yellow wine is different from other wines; it must be served hot. It has a mellow, long-lasting aroma when you drink it, warming the heart and stomach, and you can get drunk without realizing it.
Since childhood, only one person would warm her wine and dishes, watching her eat with a smile, then shaking her head and saying she wouldn’t eat.
Lin Qingyue drank the cup of yellow wine in one go, a little bitterness in her heart, unsure what to say for a moment.
Fortunately, the White Crab Stir fried Rice Cakes came up at this time. Lin Qingyue expressionlessly picked up a piece with her chopsticks, paused, and, as a courtesy, placed it on Xu Luzhi’s plate.
To mask the emotional fluctuation, her tone became cool: “You try it first.”
“Thank you, Sister!” The young girl smiled beautifully, lowering her head to eat with relish, her cheeks puffing out like a small feeding hamster.
Quite cute.
The sight gave Lin Qingyue some appetite. She picked up a piece with her chopsticks and chewed it slowly.
It was her first time tasting such fresh white crab meat. Unlike hairy crabs, the white crab meat was stringy, with not much roe, but the meat was more satisfying to eat.
Paired with the slightly charred, thumb sized rice cakes, it had the scent of the ocean, soft, sticky, and deliciously sweet.
The shabby little restaurant was unassuming, but the public reviews were indeed accurate; it was surprisingly delicious.
Hot food is the most comforting. She had been exhausted these past two days, barely eating anything, only wanting to drink. Now that she had good food, with carbohydrates filling her stomach, she seemed to gain some strength.
Lin Qingyue took a deep breath, not realizing that her chopsticks were moving rapidly, drinking the wine cup by cup, chewing the rice cakes one by one, as if she could never get enough, indulging in the pleasure of eating.
Perhaps she wanted to fill her stomach to fill the empty feeling in her heart.
She didn’t notice that Xu Luzhi opposite her had stopped eating at some point, her round eyes quietly watching her. After a long thought, she secretly turned her head and gestured something to the boss.
It wasn’t until the Yellow Croaker Noodles were served that Lin Qingyue suddenly realized she had eaten most of the White Crab Stir fried Rice Cakes, and the young girl opposite her hadn’t barely touched hers.
Lin Qingyue laughed carelessly: “My apologies.”
Xu Luzhi said nothing, only motioned for her to look down at her bowl.
Lin Qingyue glanced at the two bowls of freshly served Yellow Croaker Noodles. A large bowl full of piping hot, seemingly chewy and springy noodles. The ginger yellow broth was rich, emitting the unique aroma of seafood. Two yellow croakers were placed neatly on top of the noodles, with many plump small clams scattered around.
The two bowls of noodles looked almost identical, the only difference being that the bowl in front of her was packed with clams, almost overflowing, while Xu Luzhi’s bowl only had about ten.
In comparison, Lin Qingyue’s bowl looked exceptionally generous.
Lin Qingyue was momentarily stunned, looking up at Xu Luzhi opposite her, unsure if the young girl had done something to it.
Xu Luzhi smiled with curved eyes: “Sister, you’re so lucky!”
“Lucky?” Lin Qingyue chewed on the word, not associating it with herself.
The thing she had never possessed was luck.
“Yes, the boss here is very nice. He randomly gives some customers extra ingredients. I’ve eaten here many times and only received it once, so Sister, you have very good luck today!” Xu Luzhi rested her chin on her hand, her pupils dark and clear like glass beads, watching her and speaking earnestly.
If Lin Qingyue were her age, she would probably believe her immediately.
But at this moment, the girl’s smile and earnest anticipation were genuine and so bright and fresh, like gardenias washed by a rainstorm, that Lin Qingyue had no desire to expose her.
She slowly showed a smile, gently blinked her eyes, and laughed softly: “Is that so? Then I really am lucky today.”
The second half of the sentence was faint, almost inaudible.
Lin Qingyue lowered her head to eat the noodles. She hadn’t had any appetite for several consecutive days, but now, she suddenly felt very hungry.
Even though she had already eaten quite a bit, she still felt very hungry.
How strange. When did I become so greedy?
She wanted to swallow the noodles in front of her, and the little Gardenia opposite her, all at once.
Lin Qingyue knew clearly that she had no luck.
The so-called luck all came from the young girl opposite her.
The warm yellow wine went down smoothly. The yellow croaker was slightly charred and tasted just right when chewed. The noodles and broth slid down, and the small clams were tender, one after another, impossible to eat enough.
Lin Qingyue’s stomach was full, and her whole body felt warm. Reluctantly, she finished the last sip of yellow wine, leaned back against the chair, half-closed her eyes languidly, too lazy to move.
Xu Luzhi brazenly peered at Lin Qingyue’s face, mentally tracing her beautiful eye shape again and again, unable to see enough.
She knew Lin Qingyue wouldn’t believe these things, but she wanted to make her sister as happy as possible.
If she was happy, she would stay by her side forever.
