Falling Into the ABO World, I Tamed the Obsessed Alphas - Chapter 93
“Pei Yiyan.”
Shen Yuqing nudged him again. The sound of Pei Yiyan’s steady breathing filled his ears. Despite being much taller, Pei Yiyan now clung to him like an overly affectionate cat impossible to push away, impossible to wake, stubbornly burrowing into his embrace.
Helpless, Shen Yuqing had no choice but to first remove the weight of the lucky charm that had been steadily sitting on his chest. Finally, the oppressive feeling eased.
He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. The heat radiating from the body pressed against him was making him uncomfortably warm.
But this was clearly abnormal.
Stretching his arm with effort, he grabbed a tissue and wiped the fine beads of sweat from Pei Yiyan’s forehead before struggling to create some distance between their bodies.
The heat was already unbearable, and the sweat only made it worse.
Lowering his gaze, Shen Yuqing studied Pei Yiyan sleeping beside him. At some point, Pei Yiyan had completely crossed the invisible boundary between them, forcefully claiming his space.
Thankfully, the bed was large enough otherwise, with how Pei Yiyan was crowding him, Shen Yuqing would have ended up on the floor sooner or later.
Shen Yuqing got up and tiptoed to the bathroom. Splashing cold water on his face finally brought some relief.
Staring at his reflection in the mirror, he noticed red marks on his neck where Pei Yiyan had pressed against him.
Sighing, he grabbed a towel to dry his face before stepping back out.
Rain was likely on the way the room felt stiflingly hot. Shen Yuqing walked to the window and pushed it open wider. The evening breeze rushed in, cooling his overheated mind. Soon, the temperature in the room dropped noticeably.
“No…”
A faint sound came from the bed. Shen Yuqing hurried over and, even in the dim light, could see the pained expression on Pei Yiyan’s face.
What exactly was he dreaming about?
Ever since they returned, Pei Yiyan had been restless these past two nights.
Left with no other option, Shen Yuqing summoned the system.
The system responded immediately. “Take a look at Pei Yiyan. His body has been burning up, and he’s been so unsettled. Is something wrong?”
The system quickly scanned Pei Yiyan from head to toe before replying, “He’s fine. The fever and restlessness are due to him resisting something only he knows the reason. I can’t detect it. If you’re curious, you can ask him yourself.”
Shen Yuqing frowned. “Are you sure he’s okay? Should I call a doctor?”
“No need. Even if you did, they wouldn’t find anything. Once he works through it, these symptoms will disappear.” The system patiently explained, “But if you’re really worried, you can take him for a full checkup tomorrow.”
That seemed to be the only option.
Shen Yuqing watched as Pei Yiyan curled up, fingers clutching the sheets tightly just like the night before, sweat nearly soaking the pillow.
He grabbed another tissue to wipe the sweat away, then carefully swapped his own pillow for Pei Yiyan’s damp one.
Once done, Shen Yuqing lay back down. This time, he decisively freed the fabric from Pei Yiyan’s grip and instead took his hand in his own.
His fingers were still cool from the water. Pei Yiyan seized them like a lifeline, holding on tightly.
The entire body pressed against him again. Shen Yuqing hooked his legs around Pei Yiyan’s, guiding him to straighten them to avoid poor blood circulation from staying in one position too long.
Under his guidance, Pei Yiyan wasn’t as panicked as before and became much calmer.
Shen Yuqing could feel warm breaths against his skin ticklish and slightly feverish but he endured it. Stretching out his long arm, he grabbed his phone, tapped a few times, and soon the air conditioner in the room hummed to life.
If Pei Yiyan wanted to cling to him, so be it. The man really didn’t seem to mind the heat.
With the room now comfortably cool, Shen Yuqing, exhausted from the earlier commotion, felt drowsy. He yawned and asked with closed eyes, “Has Song Wangzhuo’s thing ended yet?”
“It wrapped up an hour ago. The person you asked me to track just arrived home,” the system replied. “I’ve already pinned the location. You’ll see it on your neural map tomorrow.”
“Alright…” Shen Yuqing murmured sleepily. “Keep monitoring. I’ll find time to check it out tomorrow.”
The system acknowledged with a beep, its indicator light blinking twice before going silent.
“No…”
Just as Shen Yuqing was about to drift off, Pei Yiyan’s faint murmur roused him slightly. No? What did he mean?
Before he could ponder further, he felt Pei Yiyan’s arm tighten around his waist once again, as if trying to merge their bodies into one.
Eyes still closed, Shen Yuqing placed his free hand over the arm wrapped around him and began patting it gently, the way the orphanage matron used to soothe children to sleep in his past life.
Softly, he whispered, “Don’t be scared… sleep well…”
He didn’t know how long he kept murmuring those reassurances, but eventually, sleep overpowered him, and he slipped into unconsciousness.
After he fell asleep, Good Luck curled up beside him, watching them for a while before letting out a soft, contented sound and nestling against Shen Yuqing’s shoulder to sleep.
The next morning.
Shen Yuqing opened his eyes, his mind still foggy, when a furry head nudged against him.
The little creature made a sound like a purring motorcycle as it rubbed against him.
Shen Yuqing tilted his head slightly. “Huh… rare for you to stick close to me.”
Usually, when he woke up, the first thing he saw was Good Luck’s rear end.
The cat meowed twice, gave him another affectionate nudge, then gracefully hopped off the bed.
With one problem resolved, Shen Yuqing finally turned his attention to the other person glued to him.
Pei Yiyan was still in the same position as last night, though his grip had loosened somewhat.
Carefully, Shen Yuqing lifted Pei Yiyan’s arm away and freed his own hand from between the man’s fingers, inching his way-out bit by bit.
He remembered that Pei Yiyan had been restless before falling asleep. He wasn’t sure when the man had finally settled into a proper slumber, but now, he looked utterly exhausted likely needing more rest before waking.
Shen Yuqing got out of bed and stretched, working out the stiffness in his body, especially where Pei Yiyan had clung to him all night. His hand, held tightly for hours, felt almost numb.
He glanced down at Pei Yiyan, exhaling softly as he murmured, “I wonder what you’re dreaming about… I hope it ends soon.”
Otherwise, being woken up like this every night would drive him insane too.
After Shen Yuqing finished washing up, Pei Yiyan still hadn’t woken up. He stepped out of the bedroom and said to Xiao Zhao, “If he’s not awake by nine, go wake him up. Also, schedule a physical check-up for him. Is Wu Yi coming today?”
Xiao Zhao noted everything down. At the mention of Wu Yi’s name, he nodded. “Wu Yi sent me a message this morning saying he’d come today.”
“That’s good. Let Wu Yi accompany him then.” Shen Yuqing glanced at the time there was still enough left for him to have breakfast.
Xiao Zhao noticed the red marks on Shen Yuqing’s neck and asked, “Young Master, what happened to your neck? Is it an allergy?”
Shen Yuqing instinctively raised his hand to cover it but quickly lowered it again. “It’s just from Lucky rubbing against me yesterday while I was drinking water. It’s nothing.”
He sat at the dining table, quickly eating his wontons with his head lowered. “The wontons are delicious.”
Xiao Zhao’s attention shifted slightly. “I’ll make them for you again tomorrow morning.”
Shen Yuqing hummed in agreement. “I’ve been craving lighter food these past couple of days. You can arrange that.”
Xiao Zhao quickly nodded, no longer pressing about the red marks on Shen Yuqing’s neck.
When Shen Yuqing arrived at school, he happened to run into Song Wangzhuo.
Song Wangzhuo looked somewhat exhausted, likely from returning too late the night before and not getting enough sleep.
Shen Yuqing called his name, and Song Wangzhuo turned to look at him before stopping to wait.
“Good morning,” Shen Yuqing greeted.
Song Wangzhuo nodded quietly. “Good morning.”
He hadn’t forgotten how Shen Yuqing had helped him out the night before, but he’d returned home too late and didn’t want to disturb him, so he hadn’t replied to his message.
He was about to explain when Shen Yuqing asked, “Did the rest of your work go smoothly last night?”
He didn’t seem to care whether Song Wangzhuo had replied or not.
Song Wangzhuo hummed. “It went smoothly.”
Thanks to Shen Yuqing’s help, after the work was done, he even received a generous red envelope from the Song family.
“That’s good.” Shen Yuqing continued, “Did you find the person who bumped into you last night?”
Song Wangzhuo shook his head. “No.”
Everyone had been wearing masks, and he hadn’t noticed the person behind him at the time. He also couldn’t access the surveillance footage to see who it was.
If not for Shen Yuqing’s help last night, he wouldn’t have been able to continue smoothly today.
“I haven’t had the chance to thank you for last night,” Song Wangzhuo said. “Thank you. When are you free? Let me treat you to a meal.”
Shen Yuqing raised an eyebrow slightly this was new. Song Wangzhuo was actually inviting him to dinner!
“Sure, anytime works for me,” he replied.
Noticing the fatigue on Song Wangzhuo’s face, Shen Yuqing added, “Oh, by the way, I have something to do at noon, so let’s move today’s tutoring session to the evening. Is that okay with you?”
Of course, it was fine. Song Wangzhuo only had to prepare for the sports meet next week now, leaving him with plenty of free time far more than before.
Meeting Shen Yuqing’s smiling eyes, something stirred in his heart. He pressed his lips together slightly. “Mm. In that case, how about I treat you to dinner tonight?”
“Sounds good,” Shen Yuqing agreed immediately.
At the same time, Song Wangzhuo’s stats updated with a ding.
