Falling After Marriage - Chapter 75
Chapter 75: Finally Learned to Please Me
After obtaining Cheng Sangluo’s consent, Lin Jin quickly summoned Secretary Zhou to assist her to the study. Clearly, she was afraid the “dog-thing” would go back on her word, so she didn’t dare delay for a single moment.
“Hey, hey, hey! You barely ate a few bites—what are you bustling about now?” Cheng Sangluo tapped the table irritably. Although her tone wasn’t particularly kind, every word was laced with concern for the madwoman.
Lin Jin reached out and ruffled her hair, smiling like a spring breeze. She mimicked the puppy’s tone: “What? We haven’t even signed the papers yet, and you’re already starting to nag about everything?”
“I am not…” The puppy’s mouth remained stubbornly hard as usual, and she buried her head back into her rice. “I can’t be bothered to care.”
A short while later, Lin Jin went into the study with the group of lawyers for a small meeting, while Cheng Sangluo busied herself by returning to the room to wash up and tidy herself.
Before she entered the room, Zhou Ran stopped her, carrying two sets of custom-made suits. “Miss Cheng.”
Cheng Sangluo turned back, looking at the clothes in her hands with confusion. “Is something wrong?”
“These two suits were specifically ordered for you by President Lin.” Zhou Ran presented the neatly pressed clothes to Cheng Sangluo. “Please try them on to see if the sizing is right. If there are any issues, let me know.”
“Ordered for me?” Cheng Sangluo took the clothes hesitantly, feeling a bit puzzled. “I don’t really wear formal clothes like this.”
Seeing that she truly wasn’t used to professional attire, Zhou Ran explained simply: “After you sign the agreement with President Lin, you will inevitably attend business events and frequent the company. It’s better to dress more formally.”
“Alright then, thank you.” Cheng Sangluo thanked her politely, then slipped into the bedroom and closed the door gently.
She laid the new clothes flat on the bed, pulled back the dust cover to check the style, and curiously felt the fabric. She couldn’t help but tilt her head. The puppy didn’t understand how the fabric could feel so soft and comfortable while maintaining such a sharp, structured texture. Thinking with her toes, she realized it was probably because the price was anything but cheap.
She sat on the edge of the bed holding the clothes and, taking advantage of being alone, thought about her future plans. Once the sham marriage agreement was signed and the certificate was obtained, she would be tied to Lin Jin for a long time.
Without Sheng He, that madwoman…
Bah, that woman had almost no one around her to protect or take care of her. It seemed all the burdens of life had fallen onto Cheng Sangluo’s shoulders.
She had to ask for a raise!
Right, doing so many miscellaneous tasks and only getting one salary was irrational. She definitely needed a raise!
At this thought, Cheng Sangluo scratched her head. Something felt off, but she couldn’t pinpoint the problem. This sense of things being “only natural” felt a bit fishy.
In the afternoon.
Cheng Sangluo eventually, albeit somewhat reluctantly, signed the sham marriage agreement.
After seeing off the large group of people, she returned to the study. Seeing Lin Jin leaning lazily in her executive chair, holding the agreement and reading it over and over, she said helplessly: “Stop looking at it. I’ve already boarded your pirate ship; it’s an unchangeable fact now.”
Lin Jin treated the hard-won agreement like a treasure, carefully locking it into the cabinet beside her desk before spreading her arms for a hug from the puppy. “Since you’ve boarded my ship, why don’t we celebrate? For instance, carry me to the bedroom…”
“Stop right there.” Cheng Sangluo knew exactly what was on her mind and interrupted her in time. “It’s not even dark yet. Can’t we do something proper? For example, your father is still at the care center—shouldn’t you visit? Or talk to Lin Sheng? Or go to the hospital? Right! We agreed to take you for a check-up!”
The puppy, as if waking from a dream, punched her own palm and strode toward the desk. Without a second word, she scooped Lin Jin up and headed for the door, rambling: “Go, go, go. We need to hurry before Dr. Chi gets off work. Who knows if that chaos yesterday loosened the steel pins in your foot? If they’re displaced and you need another surgery… Amitabha, may the Old Goddess protect us…”
Lin Jin laughed at the puppy’s noisiness and reached out to pinch that non-stop mouth. “You’re so loud, my ears hurt.”
Cheng Sangluo shook her head to dodge the hand. “You think I’m nagging? If we weren’t grasshoppers on the same string now, I wouldn’t care if you were missing a whole leg. I— mmm…”
“Shut up,” Lin Jin whispered. She cupped the puppy’s face and pulled her close; it seemed the only way to stop that restless mouth was with a kiss.
The sudden kiss sealed Cheng Sangluo’s lips, and what little logic she had left vanished instantly. She turned around, went straight back to the executive chair, sat Lin Jin down, and pressed one hand against the back of the chair.
A kiss must be serious to taste the full intensity of passion.
Lin Jin let out a soft moan, allowing the puppy’s tongue to explore her world. To create an extra bit of “interest,” she draped her silk robe over Cheng Sangluo’s head, trapping them together in a tiny, private space.
Cheng Sangluo felt this kiss was perfectly reasonable. Even without so-called love, they were now in a legitimate relationship. She circled Lin Jin’s waist, pulling her close, running wild on those honey-sweet lips.
Lin Jin wore a satisfied smile. Her mood was better than ever because she had the long-plotted agreement, and because in this kiss, the puppy was even more proactive than she was. Everything felt like it was back at the starting point—back to that night driven by aphrodisiacs—but the difference was that today, the proactivity was born of uncontrollable emotion and mutual desire.
“I want it,” Lin Jin pleaded in a soft voice. Secretly, her uninjured foot had already hooked around the puppy’s waist. “What should I do?~”
Cheng Sangluo always liked to pin this slender woman into corners; perhaps subconsciously, it was an act of selfish possession.
“No,” Cheng Sangluo was obsessed with the fusion of their lips, but amidst the enjoyment, she kept a shred of clarity. “I have to take you to the hospital. This can’t wait.”
“Then can we reserve five minutes for our kiss?” Lin Jin was unexpectedly easy to talk to, learning how to negotiate. “Is that okay?”
Cheng Sangluo blinked, surprised that the person in her arms was actually discussing it with her. She smiled and nodded: “How is five minutes enough? Let’s make it ten.”
With that, she circled Lin Jin’s waist and easily lifted her to sit on the office desk. Even while kissing, they had to change locations to enjoy a different kind of pleasure.
Lin Jin felt a brief moment of weightlessness, letting out a small gasp which was immediately caught and savored by the person in front of her. She propped one hand behind her as she leaned back, the other arm around the puppy’s neck, practically hanging off Cheng Sangluo.
By the end of the kiss, everything was a mess—disheveled clothes, ragged breathing, and messy hair.
Cheng Sangluo cradled the back of Lin Jin’s neck, tugging the camellia robe with her teeth. Through the thin fabric, she hungrily sucked and kissed the scar on the side of her neck. This playful kiss was delightful, but it also made Lin Jin hiss in pain.
The puppy looked up, feigning ignorance: “Does it hurt?”
Lin Jin didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “It didn’t, but you’re kissing so hard I’m afraid you’ll cause an infection.”
“Really?” Cheng Sangluo asked foolishly, quickly avoiding the wound. She said bashfully, “I thought you would like this kind of kiss.”
“Oh~ so you thought I would like it~” Lin Jin dragged out her words, grabbing the puppy’s collar and pulling her close. “Congratulations. You’ve finally learned how to please me~”
Cheng Sangluo’s face turned bright red, and she flatly denied it: “What ‘pleasing’… I… I didn’t…”
As expected, her whole body was soft except for that stubborn mouth.
“You didn’t?” Lin Jin took advantage of the puppy’s shyness, biting her ear and whispering: “Arsonist… do you know… right now, I’m…”
The sugar-flower-soft voice stopped abruptly. Cheng Sangluo’s heart was hooked; she stared at the woman making trouble at her ear. “What’s wrong with you right now? Tell me.”
“Wet.” Lin Jin used only one word, but it set off a tidal wave in Cheng Sangluo’s heart.
Seeing the puppy’s face glow even redder, Lin Jin laughed more arrogantly. She feigned innocence: “If you don’t believe me… explore for yourself… it’s like a water curtain cave… it’s all your fault for kissing too passionately…”
Yaaa!!!
How could Cheng Sangluo handle such explicit language? She screamed internally, wishing she could cover Lin Jin’s mouth. How could she say such things out loud? It was the death of her.
The air was thick with the scent of disinfectant, causing Cheng Sangluo to sneeze several times. She kept rubbing her itchy nose, keeping as quiet as a cicada for fear of disturbing Dr. Chi.
Chi Jue’s office wasn’t large, and with both Cheng Sangluo and Lin Jin there, it felt a bit crowded. She held up the CT scans to check the results, her brow furrowing slightly before switching to another one.
Cheng Sangluo didn’t understand the technical side, but she could read micro-expressions. Seeing that Dr. Chi hadn’t spoken for a while and was frowning, she feared the results were unsatisfactory. Her fingers twisted the seam of her pants for a long time before she hesitated: “Dr. Chi, the injury on her foot… um… is there a problem?”
The atmosphere was terribly tense. Ironically, Lin Jin, sitting in the wheelchair, looked indifferent—as if she weren’t the one injured.
Chi Jue set down the films and turned to the relaxed Lin Jin. “You’re quite the troublemaker. Do you want to be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life?”
Lin Jin didn’t speak even after being scolded; she just pouted piteously at the puppy, her eyes glistening as if she could squeeze out tears at any second.
Cheng Sangluo knew she was acting, but she still stepped in front of Chi Jue, shielding Lin Jin from the blaming gaze. “Uh, Dr. Chi, just tell me what her situation is.”
Chi Jue didn’t give her any face, scolding her as well: “What situation? If there were nothing wrong, would you be here for a check-up?” She held the CT film against the light, pointing a pen at a certain spot. “This steel pin has shifted slightly. What were you doing? Did you take her to play soccer?”
“Uh… that… I took her to play basketball…” Cheng Sangluo was at a loss; to lighten the mood, she cracked a small joke, then whispered: “What should we do? Does she need another surgery to fix it?”
Chi Jue glanced at her sternly. Seeing how flustered she was, her tone softened slightly: “Observe it for a while. Don’t let her walk on it for now. Come back for a review in a week. If the recovery isn’t optimistic, we’ll consider surgery.”
“Right, right. This time I promise to watch her closely. Everywhere she goes, she’ll be in the wheelchair.” The puppy thumped her chest in guarantee, then blinked at Lin Jin as if to say, ‘I blocked the scolding for you, aren’t I amazing?’
Lin Jin remained silent because she wanted to test Cheng Sangluo’s attitude in handling things for her. After all, they were about to get the certificate; many things would require this nominal wife to step up. Seeing the puppy getting scolded innocently and still acting like a happy idiot, she found her both silly and incredibly cute.
Lin Jin smiled and reached out to cradle Cheng Sangluo’s palm, silently drawing a heart on it.
“Pay more attention these next few days,” Chi Jue reminded again, moving the “view-obstructing” Cheng Sangluo aside to look directly at Lin Jin. “Shi Nian told me a bit about what happened yesterday. You’d better behave until your foot is healed. Your Old Man is in the ICU. If you eventually consider transferring him, I’ll arrange it properly. You need to take the initiative before your brother makes his next move.”
“Don’t worry. Lin Zhen will die at the care center if he has to; he’s not going anywhere. Lin Sheng won’t take him.” Mentioning the Lin father and son, Lin Jin’s smile turned cold, though only for a moment. She paused, her words directed at Chi Jue but her eyes on Cheng Sangluo. “Sangluo took great care of me. There was just a little accident last night that hurt my foot. I’ll bother Sister Chi again in a week.”
Knock, knock, knock—
During their talk, there was a knock at the door. While handing the CT films to Cheng Sangluo, Chi Jue looked toward the door. “Come in.”
The door was pushed open gently. A head wearing a police cap peeked in, followed by two smaller heads.
Su Qiao had a hand on each of the little ones. The two children looked like a miniature mix of her and Chi Jue.
“Mama!” “Mama!”
The two little ones cheered and skipped into the office, quickly surrounding Chi Jue and begging for hugs. Chi Jue seemed prepared; she pulled two anti-cavity baby candies from her white coat and whispered: “What do we do before eating candy?”
The two little kids held the candy from their mom and grinned, showing off missing front teeth: “Wash hands!”
Cheng Sangluo turned to look at the person who followed them in. She remembered her; last time during the gambling den raid, Ji Nanxing had called her Su Qiao—she was the Vice Captain of Criminal Investigation.
Lin Jin was Chi Jue’s friend, so she had naturally met Su Qiao many times. After a brief greeting, Su Qiao picked up the two rowdy kids and scolded them in a whisper: “Don’t be so noisy! Mama hasn’t finished work yet. Can you two be quiet!”
Lin Jin looked at the couple’s “crystallization of love,” a rare glint of envy in her eyes. She possessed many things others envied, but also lacked things she craved—like love, like happiness.
This woman usually had a hypocritical smile and calculating eyes, but looking at the two children, her smile was genuinely doting. Cheng Sangluo liked children too, especially a pair of twins dressed like porcelain dolls. She approached familiarly, gave Su Qiao a goofy smile, and poked each child’s cheek with a finger.
“It’s time to get off work; we won’t disturb your family of four’s happiness.” Lin Jin joked, then signaled the puppy to push her out. “Let’s go, Cheng Sangluo.”
Before leaving, she looked back at Chi Jue and added: “Sister Chi, please consider that matter again. No one can do it but you.”
