Falling After Marriage - Chapter 65
Chapter 65: If You Want It, Take It With Your Mouth
As night descended.
Lin Jin rested her chin on her hands, watching the ravenously eating Cheng Sangluo with interest, and gently called out: “Eat slowly, no one is fighting you for it.”
The person sitting across the table was eating with gusto, her head practically buried in the plate. She looked like a food-guarding little dog, and the more Lin Jin looked, the more she liked it.
Cheng Sangluo’s cheeks were puffed up. She lifted her head and grinned sweetly at the crazy woman: “It’s too delicious. I can’t quite control myself.”
“If you like it, eat more. If it’s not enough, ask the chef to keep grilling.” Lin Jin pulled out a tissue, leaned forward, and wiped her mouth for her. “But you must eat slowly. Be careful not to choke.”
“I’m full. I can’t eat anymore. Hiccup… hiccup…” The little dog suddenly hiccupped, quickly covering her mouth in embarrassment, trying to hold it back, but the jerking of her body only made it funnier.
She blushed, attempting to change the subject to ease the awkwardness. She patted her swollen stomach and joked: “Listen, does it sound like a ripe watermelon? Hiccup…“
Lin Jin tilted her head, deliberately examining Cheng Sangluo. She secretly laughed, Isn’t this big, dark-skinned wolf dog a little too cute?
“You’re quite amusing~” She copied the little dog’s motion and tapped her head. “Hmm, it sounds more like a fool.”
Perhaps because she had just been fed, Cheng Sangluo was particularly obedient right now. Even when the crazy woman tapped her head, she showed no resistance.
She suddenly covered Lin Jin’s hand, which was close to her lips, and wiped her mouth vigorously with a tissue, looking naughtier than usual. “Mmm… I need a walk to digest. I’m too full, too full!”
“Perfect, I’ll take you to a great spot. You won’t find a second place in the whole city with a night view like that.” Lin Jin didn’t mind. While responding, she cupped the little dog’s chin, wiping her mouth more meticulously, causing the playful little dog to freeze in a daze.
Cheng Sangluo felt her face heat up even more. She coughed softly, stood up, walked behind her, and held the wheelchair handle, asking, “Then I’ll trouble the mountain lord to point the way.”
“Mountain lord?” Lin Jin was amused by the nickname. She looked up at the little dog’s determined face, her smile growing lighter: “Soon, I’ll be your head of the household. I prefer that title.”
“Cough, cough… Th-that works too, I guess…” Cheng Sangluo stammered, wondering what ‘head of the household’ meant.
Although she couldn’t adapt to the changing identity right away, she no longer minded the idea of marriage as much as before. At least her acceptance was relatively calm.
“Then I’ll trouble my dear fiancée to push me to the mountaintop. Hmm… I think carrying me up the mountain would help with digestion even more.” Lin Jin seemed to read the little dog’s thoughts, deliberately emphasizing the three words ‘dear fiancée’ so she could get a close-up look at the little dog’s exclusive tomato-face skin.
Evidently, ‘fiancée’ had the remarkable effect of causing a thousand ripples, making Cheng Sangluo internally and externally flustered and nervous.
She remained silent with a blushing face but obediently turned and squatted down, allowing the crazy woman to loop her arms around her neck. She then lifted the whole person onto her back. “I’ll carry you up the mountain. It’s easier to move this way.”
Lin Jin pressed her face against Cheng Sangluo’s ear, gently coaxing, “I was just teasing you. Who takes a nighttime hike in the pitch black mountains? It’s not a short distance. We’ll drive up in a moment.”
With that, she ignored the glances from the house staff and chefs and lightly bit Cheng Sangluo’s ear: “I still can’t bear to tire my little dog.”
Lin Jin’s so-called good viewing spot was a naturally formed windy point at the top of the mountain, complete with a pavilion for resting and a small lighthouse for viewing.
In the autumn night sky, the darkness wasn’t as thick as in summer. A refreshing, bright moon complemented the lighthouse, their corresponding brightness creating a comforting romance.
Cheng Sangluo parked the car by the cliff edge, planning to help Lin Jin to the pavilion. “I’ll carry you over.”
Lin Jin lifted her chin, signaling her to look at the distant mountain base. “No need. Enjoying the night view from the car is quite nice too.”
Cheng Sangluo followed her gaze. Even sitting in the car, the unobstructed city lights were fully visible.
The city forest of concrete high-rises was always livelier at night than during the day. Bright lights flickered continuously, as if the daytime was beneath their feet, and the night flowed with the light and shadow.
The cool night wind from the mountain pass blew ceaselessly, making one feel both comfortable and a sense of vast, cosmic solitude.
The person who had suffered for most of her life was always on the move. Suddenly stopping to admire the beauty of the night, she only felt that the darkness could also be colorful, and she had no further emotion.
Cheng Sangluo turned her head to look at Lin Jin, who was staring straight ahead. Her heart trembled with a sudden realization: compared to the wild nightscape and the lonely moonlight, the crazy woman beside her was a breathtaking beauty that left her speechless.
She had never denied that Lin Jin was beautiful. Her naturally exquisite features didn’t require much makeup. Just sitting back softly and bonelessly in the car seat in a simple business suit made her a captivating sight.
The evening breeze outside the window messed up Lin Jin’s hair and lifted the intoxicating fragrance that drove one crazy. She tucked her hair behind her ear, feeling the focused gaze beside her, and turned her head to give a gentle smile: “Staring so intently, do you think I’m more beautiful than the night view?”
Cheng Sangluo met the deep gaze. While feeling an instant of heart-pounding emotion, she feigned indifference and scoffed: “You are really narcissistic.”
“I call this confidence.” Lin Jin raised an eyebrow, a haughty smile curving on her lips, and countered: “Besides, if the night view were more beautiful than me, why would you only stare at me?”
“Cough, cough… I…” Cheng Sangluo knew she couldn’t win against the quick-witted crazy woman. She mumbled: “I was clearly looking out the window… I was looking at…”
“Looking at the pitch-black mountain road?” Lin Jin mercilessly exposed her, taking the opportunity to lean in and press against the little dog’s embrace, her tone laced with seduction: “There are finger cots in the car.”
Cheng Sangluo was about to reach out and embrace her, but hearing the blatant hint, she stammered, “Y-y-you… we can’t…”
Lin Jin used her fingertip to hook her chin, teasing her, her voice softening slightly: “No one will disturb us here. Only the sky knows, the earth knows, you know, and I know… Didn’t you want to digest your food… making love is also a form of exercise~”
Cheng Sangluo was caught between tears and laughter. Tears for being like the crazy woman’s private toy, feeling like they could spontaneously play anytime, anywhere. Laughter because she always refused verbally, yet her heart held an unspeakable desire.
When she came to her senses, the woman whose eyes were filled with lust had already covered her hand and tucked it inside her shirt.
“You can righteously push me away, but you cannot go against your own heart.” Lin Jin was like a seductive succubus, capable of dissolving Cheng Sangluo’s coldness with a few words.
She slightly arched her back, allowing the rough palm to press against her soft ‘snow peach,’ continuing to lure: “People who genuinely don’t want it are always very firm. In my eyes, you were only firm once, in the clubhouse parking lot. You wouldn’t bend down to pick up the key card, saying ‘impossible.’ Only that one time. Later on… the one who spiraled out of control… has never been just me…”
The moment she finished speaking, she reached out and opened the passenger side drawer, taking out a box of finger cots.
She didn’t hand it to Cheng Sangluo. Instead, she held the package with her lips, leaning lazily against the car window. “If you want it, come and take it with your mouth~”
Cheng Sangluo’s one hand was still resting on the soft peach. While her mind screamed don’t do it, her other free hand betrayed her true feelings.
She wanted to take the small square package from Lin Jin’s lips, but the playful woman turned her head away, dodging the hand suspended in the air.
She met the little dog’s eyes again, her lips mouthing the package, producing an ambiguous friction sound. “Use your mouth.“
In the darkness, their eyes glittered with faint light.
The light carried complex meanings: an ambiguous entanglement hard to articulate, the invisible fixation in their gaze, and a clumsy reluctance.
Cheng Sangluo was silent for a moment. She placed her half-raised hand against the car window and circled the crazy woman, who was squeezed into the corner, into her embrace.
She always found reasons for her actions.
Just like now, she rationalized that since both her hands were occupied, taking the object from the crazy woman’s mouth was perfectly reasonable. So, she slowly and gently moved her face closer until they were sharing each other’s breath.
Lin Jin leaned her neck back slightly, carrying a mix of playfulness and an almost imperceptible flutter of nervousness.
This nervousness was for one thing only: the closest opportunity for a kiss with Cheng Sangluo.
The longed-for kiss was within reach, separated by a negligible distance. It only needed her to move a little closer, only needed Cheng Sangluo to be a little more proactive, and everything would come true.
Cheng Sangluo slightly tilted her head, inching closer.
In the shifting movement, their gazes intertwined first, but in that instant, she awkwardly lowered her eyes.
Even though she avoided that unknowable deep pool, she couldn’t avoid those tempting red lips.
Lin Jin’s lips were very moist, the glossy red looking as if coated in sugar, easily prompting the urge to taste them.
Cheng Sangluo’s mind wandered, thinking the crazy woman’s lips must be sweet, but she wondered what flavor of sweetness it was.
She pondered the red fruits—was it the sweetness of strawberry, the sweetness of cherry, or perhaps her favorite watermelon flavor?
With her thoughts drifting, she unconsciously parted her lips, gently pressing on a corner of the package. The hand resting against the window quietly moved to Lin Jin’s ear, tracing the smooth curve of her neck, and slowly cupping the back of her head.
Lin Jin rested securely against her palm, instinctively raising her chin slightly.
A little closer, please. Or spit out that obstructing packaging. Kiss me regardless of the consequences.
Her eyes didn’t flinch, staring intently at Cheng Sangluo, just like the stubborn refusal to leave during the waiting years, a steadfastness that made her seem a little pathetic.
‘Ding—Ding—‘
A sudden, sharp phone ring broke the silence of the car cabin, completely dispelling the intensely ambiguous atmosphere they had worked so hard to create.
Cheng Sangluo jumped at the sound, swiftly pulled the small square package from Lin Jin’s lips, and retreated back to the driver’s seat.
She placed both hands on her knees, sitting ramrod straight. The finger cot was deformed by her tightly curled fingertips, silently conveying the pale emptiness after the intense nervousness.
Seeing the nearly claimed kiss turn into a duck that flew away from her mouth, Lin Jin furrowed her brow fiercely. She wanted to throw her phone off the cliff.
Cheng Sangluo’s mind was still floating, wondering if she would have succumbed to a lost kiss without the sudden phone call.
But the persistently ringing phone pulled her back to reality. She whispered, “Aren’t you… going to answer the phone?”
Lin Jin didn’t answer. She picked up her phone and looked at the caller ID.
She had initially planned to answer and scold whoever was interrupting her good time, but after seeing the name on the screen, her expression paused, and then she put on the most insincere smile. “Madame Ruan is a rare visitor. It’s unusual for you to call me. Is the old man about to die?”
“Do you have no heart? He is your father, after all. Why are you saying such a heartless thing!”
Ruan Jingxian’s low-sobbing scolding came through the earpiece. Cheng Sangluo pricked up her ears to listen, glancing at Lin Jin, who seemed like a different person, thinking something must have happened.
Lin Jin coldly laughed and turned her head to look out the window. All the tenderness in her eyes vanished, leaving only cruel coldness. “You have no right to accuse me. You just need to tell me why you called.”
“Your father is in critical condition and is being rushed to the convalescent center! Hurry and come. Don’t make him wait!!!”
The phrase ‘critical condition’ drilled into Cheng Sangluo’s ears. Her shoulders involuntarily trembled slightly, bringing forth a nearly forgotten memory.
‘Don’t worry. The plan is proceeding systematically. As soon as the old man is in critical condition, I will act immediately to make sure Lin Jin misses seeing him for the last time. Then, you’ll be the one to decide the contents of the will, won’t you?’
The conversation she had overheard at Xu Songheng’s house that night sounded an alarm bell in her mind.
“By all rights, you should want me not to see him one last time, shouldn’t you?” Lin Jin showed no concern upon hearing her father was in critical condition. After mocking Ruan Jingxian, she stated confidently, “Don’t worry. If he doesn’t see me one last time, he’ll keep holding on. It will be hard for him to die.”
With that, she hung up on Ruan Jingxian and dialed Gu Shinian’s phone.
A sudden, hard press of the accelerator brought a powerful push-back sensation, causing Lin Jin to slam against the seat back.
She looked at Cheng Sangluo in surprise, furrowing her brow. “What are you doing?”
“Taking you to the convalescent center.” When Cheng Sangluo was calm, her speech became remarkably concise.
She didn’t explain why she was more anxious than the person directly involved. Her hand, resting on the gear shift, had unknowingly grabbed Lin Jin’s hand. “You might be in danger. I need to get you out of here quickly.”
