Falling After Marriage - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Heartbreak She Wouldn’t Admit
“Fell off a cliff.”
Only four words left Lin Jin’s lips, yet they were fraught with the crushing weight of falling into an abyss.
However, there was no trace of sorrow on her face. It was the emotion of utter despondency after accepting a reality, as if those old, yellowing images were things that happened in a past life and no longer had much to do with her.
Cheng Sangluo’s reaction was stronger. Her eyes widened, and the arms embracing Lin Jin tightened until they squeezed a short, muffled groan out of her.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry… Did I… hurt you?” She released her arms awkwardly, frantically rubbing Lin Jin’s shoulders. “Does it still hurt?”
Lin Jin shook her head and teased: “It’s not the first time you’ve hurt me. Why are you so nervous? It’s strange. You seem very fond of apologizing to me tonight. You used to be very stingy with those three words.”
She wanted to appear nonchalant, so she used a very casual tone, but the more she pretended not to care, the more distressed it made her feel inside.
She re-buried her face in her “puppy’s” embrace, narrowing her eyes and continuing her recollection: “Mother never knew that Father had been keeping a mistress before they even got married, and that mistress was Lin Sheng’s mother.
Lin Sheng and I were born in the same year. He was a few months older than me. At first, the mistress thought that giving birth to a son would secure her a place in the Lin family, but she didn’t expect Grandfather not only cared about blood lineage but more about social standing and family background.
Grandfather never acknowledged the existence of the mother and son until he passed away from late-stage lung cancer when I was eight.
Father legitimately inherited the Lin family business and immediately moved Ruan Jinxiang and Lin Sheng into the Lin ancestral home, intending for them to live with Mother and me.
Doesn’t that sound ridiculous? In this day and age, someone is still carrying on that disgusting family dynamic of having multiple wives and concubines.
In just half a year, Ruan Jinxiang showed her most hideous face. She wasn’t satisfied with merely moving into the Lin family, so she tried every means to push Mother out, and also to remove me, the stumbling block preventing her son from inheriting the family property.
The night Mother fell off the cliff, thunder roared, and the wind and rain were heavy.
The power suddenly went out at the Lin mansion. I don’t know who arranged it, but all the servants were dismissed. By a terrible coincidence, Father had been abroad on business that entire month.
Because I was afraid of the dark, I ran to Mother’s bedroom.
The moment I pushed the door open, I saw a person wearing a black raincoat raising an axe and swinging it toward Mother’s leg.”
As if trapped in a terrible memory, Lin Jin’s voice paused. She buried her face even deeper, as if wanting to burrow into Cheng Sangluo’s body to hide herself.
Her entire body’s trembling transmitted to Cheng Sangluo’s embrace, carrying with it the infectious fear that had escaped from the depths of her soul.
Her eyebrows locked into a deep frown. Even with her eyes open, the axe in her memory still flashed with the white light of the lightning, cold and clear.
Cheng Sangluo wanted to stop her from continuing the memory, but before she could speak, the stubborn woman continued: “Perhaps hearing the movement, the person stopped the action, turned, and set the target on me.
Run, Jinjin, run!
Mother hugged the black-clad person’s leg, shouting for me to escape quickly, but I was terrified, too scared to move even a step, just standing there dumbly.
The person in black grabbed Mother’s hair, struck her back with the axe, and then charged toward me.
I ran barefoot through the corridor, across the courtyard, all the way to the cliff outside the Lin mansion. Guess who I met?
I saw Ruan Jinxiang holding an umbrella and Lin Sheng by the hand. They were standing there like ghosts, as if they had anticipated this outcome, grinning a skeletal smile.
Ruan Jinxiang violently yanked my arm, feigning ignorance. While uttering words of concern, she pushed me all the way to the edge of the cliff.
That night, this damned, vicious woman taught me one thing: wanting a person dead is the greatest forgiveness. Living and enduring a life of brokenness is the real punishment.
When the person in black arrived, he didn’t harm the mother and son, so I knew who was the true instigator of everything.
Ruan Jinxiang pulled out a bottle of sulfuric acid from her arms, gesturing to the person to aim specifically at my face, to absolutely destroy it completely.
Just as I struggled in vain, Mother dragged her injured body over. She shielded me in her arms. The sulfuric acid splashed onto her, but it also burned my back through the gaps.
Ruan Jinxiang hadn’t expected the person in black failed to kill Mother, so she panicked, screaming wildly that we had to die in that storm.
Mother’s blood mixed with the rain diluted the sulfuric acid, but it was still beyond salvation. With her last breath, she grabbed the man’s waist and lunged toward the cliff.
Jinjin, run!!!
That was the last look she gave me and the last thing she said to me as she fell backward off the cliff.
Run, you must run, run to a place where no one can find you. Hide until the night of lightning and thunder ends. Hide until dawn arrives.
Taking advantage of everyone’s momentary confusion, I ran away. I was fortunate that the Lin mansion was huge and had many separate courtyards, and that I was more familiar with the terrain of the whole estate than they were.
I took circuitous routes everywhere, running. Lin Sheng stubbornly followed, chasing me desperately until he got lost. I then sneaked back to my bedroom.
Perhaps subconsciously, I thought the most dangerous place was the safest, which is why I hid back in my room.
While they were still searching outside, I quickly wiped the traces on the floor clean, then wrapped myself in a pile of clothes and hid at the very bottom of the closet.
It was like a horror movie, a terrifying game of hide-and-seek.
I heard Ruan Jinxiang’s sharp laughter echoing in the corridor. She called my name, asking if I hurt, asking if I missed my mother, until the footsteps got closer and closer, until she opened the closet door.
Fortunately, the power was out at the Lin mansion. She didn’t find me hiding at the very bottom of the closet. I made the right gamble.”
Lin Jin’s voice abruptly stopped. The hospital room instantly fell into a cold silence.
Her dry tear ducts couldn’t squeeze out a single tear. The only thing mixed in her emotions was cold hatred. Even though she was so terrified of everything that happened that night, she bravely recounted the entire story to Cheng Sangluo.
There was one person who was a witness that night whom she didn’t mention, and that was Qin Shuhuai.
Cheng Sangluo reached out to touch Lin Jin’s face, expecting to feel a continuous flow of wetness, but surprisingly, her face was only slightly cool to the touch. Nothing more.
Her heart was startled and frantic. How much cruelty must a person endure to keep from crying out of fear?
At this moment, Cheng Sangluo’s heart softened completely. She couldn’t help but cup Lin Jin’s cheeks and gently press her forehead against the tight frown on her brow. “What happened next? Where were the police? Why did the victim suffer all the injustice while the perpetrator still lives comfortably?”
“Later? Father, who hadn’t returned home for a month, showed up the day after Mother fell off the cliff. What good could the police do?
The assailant fell off the cliff with Mother. Everything became a case with no witness against the dead.
Whether it was a cold and fever caused by the rain or excessive fear, I was delirious in bed for several days, speaking incoherently, so no one believed anything an eight-year-old girl said.
Mother was just gone. The case was ruled as intentional homicide due to a robbery. Father and the mother and son got their wish and became a family of three, and I was taken away by my maternal grandparents.”
Lin Jin still used the calmest tone to narrate the most tragic ending, revealing between the lines that Lin Zhen was also an accomplice in the murder, or perhaps everything was his long-planned scheme.
Another long silence ensued.
Cheng Sangluo tried hard to control her emotions, but the palm stroking Lin Jin’s head trembled slightly, easily betraying the pang of sadness in her heart.
She empathized and felt distressed. It turned out the supposedly high-and-mighty crazy woman had also encountered cruel injustice, and that pain was a thousand times worse than her own three years of wrongful imprisonment.
She clenched her molars and calmly reached a conclusion: “So, you’ve been trying every way to get close to me and willing to help me take revenge on Xu Songheng, all because of his relationship with Lin Sheng, right?”
“If I told you it wasn’t just because of those reasons, would you believe me?” Lin Jin desperately wanted to blurt out those blank years.
She wanted to tell her “puppy” right now that her waiting had spanned countless days and nights.
In fantasy, in night dreams, she had woven their reunion countless times, and only today was she finally immersed in the reality of an embrace.
But the words got stuck in her throat, making it difficult to squeeze out a single syllable. She could only change the subject: “Actually, we are the same kind of people, victims of injustice. Xu Songheng is just a puppet of Lin Sheng. Have you ever considered that the person who truly caused you to go to jail was Lin Sheng?”
Of course, Cheng Sangluo knew, but she could only pretend to be slow-witted and confused: “Why do you suspect Lin Sheng caused my imprisonment? What else do you know? Tell me.”
“I should have told you that I know more than you imagine.” Lin Jin left a riddle, or rather, a hook. “Cheng Sangluo, let’s get married. Not for anything else, but while you need me, I also need you. You have to protect me, accompany me, take care of me, listen to me…”
I need your heart too much, and even more, I need your love.
This Lin Jin was too soft, nothing like her usual aggressive, clawing demeanor. Perhaps this was her truest self.
The frail, helpless, and lonely Lin Jin.
Cheng Sangluo sighed to herself but still didn’t give a response.
She silently turned off the bedside lamp, and in the darkness, she held the disheartened woman even tighter, wanting to use the embrace to dispel those terrifying memories that had been stirred up.
This was an unprecedented closeness. Two pitiful people sought warmth from each other. There was no need to remove clothes for revelry, no need for words to draw closer. The seeds of affection were buried in the silent embrace, wildly growing in the depths of the night.
Cheng Sangluo explored Lin Jin’s cheek in the hazy darkness until the sorrowful, beautiful woman responded to her touch, gently covering her hand with her lips, giving light, shallow kisses accompanied by her breathing.
Even if Cheng Sangluo refused to admit it, she couldn’t help but feel the ripples stirring in her heart.
She finally relented, finally: “Lin Jin, can you give me some time? When I figure things out, I will give you a serious answer.”
Lin Jin closed her eyes wearily, inhaling her “puppy’s” scent, showing such respect for the first time: “Okay, I’ll wait for you, but please don’t make me wait forever.”
For Lin Jin, that night of tenderness with her “puppy” was like a brief, dreamlike reflection in water, so short that it was hard to distinguish reality from illusion.
Cheng Sangluo quietly left before she woke up. There was no farewell, nor a word about when she would visit again.
In the half-month since their separation, time passed extremely slowly, dragging along in the endless waiting.
The ankle surgery performed by Chi Jue was successful. Lin Jin couldn’t stand the environment of a regular room, so she quickly transferred to the health center for recuperation.
Many people visited her, even Ruan Jinxiang and Lin Zhen came to offer hypocritical greetings. Only the “puppy” who had walked away never came, not even sending a single message of concern.
The sheer luxury of the health center’s ward only highlighted the intensity of Lin Jin’s loneliness. Days passed one after another, and the person she waited for gradually felt like a phantom.
Lin Jin’s heart plummeted into an ice cavern. She spent her days sitting on the spacious hospital bed, staring blankly at the narrow patch of sky outside the window, often for most of the day.
She began to suspect that Cheng Sangluo had lied to her, that the indefinite waiting was just an excuse to escape, an opportune moment to flee her debt now that she was injured.
Lin Jin had to accept the fact that her “puppy” had abandoned her. The person was like an ethereal, unreachable bird that had vanished from her world without a second thought.
She began to experience physical rejection. She couldn’t stop vomiting after eating even a little bit. Her emotional distress worsened, and medication alone showed no improvement.
Dr. Qin accompanied her daily, watching her grow thinner and unable to eat, only able to arrange for IV nutrition to maintain her basic vital signs.
Qin Congyi, at his wit’s end, passed a self-doubting judgment: “Lin Jin, I don’t think I can save you anymore.”
Lin Jin lay disheveled on the bed, murmuring weakly: “Cheng Sangluo… Cheng Sangluo… Cheng Sangluo…”
Her eyes were bloodshot, and her breathing was labored, desperately wandering on the edge of an emotional abyss.
But was the reality truly this way?
Lin Jin didn’t know that on the second night of her hospitalization, Cheng Sangluo actively sought out Shu Wan and resigned from her security job.
She still wouldn’t admit that quitting this high-paying job was entirely for the crazy woman’s sake. So, she found an excellent excuse: she would need a lot of time in the coming days to investigate matters concerning Xu Songheng and Lin Sheng, and these activities could only be carried out at night.
The night she resigned, Shu Wan sat in the VIP room on the second floor of the bar. Her expression was calm, but not as gentle as usual.
She used every argument to try to keep Cheng Sangluo, even throwing out more tempting salary benefits, and when her emotions broke down, she said many harsh things to wound Lin Jin.
The result was inevitably failure.
She could not keep a person determined to leave, especially not Cheng Sangluo, who was so stubborn that ten oxen couldn’t drag her back.
Shu Wan had no choice but to place the generous wages on the table.
She didn’t want to look at Cheng Sangluo again, afraid that the heart that had fluttered since their first meeting would stir again. So, she turned away, drinking the wine that was hard to swallow.
Cheng Sangluo did not take the money without a second thought. Before leaving, she bowed and thanked Shu Wan: “Miss Shu, thank you for taking care of me during these days, and thank you for your generosity and understanding. I will always remember the favor I owe you.”
Shu Wan returned to her gentle demeanor, though her voice was mournful: “Go. Don’t worry about the favor.”
The days without Lin Jin’s interruptions were not easy for Cheng Sangluo.
She continued her cashier job at the convenience store during the day, monotonous and dull like a robot repeating actions.
In the restless hours of the night, she lay on her hard floor mat, holding up her broken phone high, hesitating whether to call the crazy woman or send a message of concern.
This person, who wasn’t even afraid of death, was afraid of intimacy across a screen. Her lack of courage made her unable to successfully take that first step of reaching out even once.
She didn’t know why she had lost her courage, nor what was causing her sleepless nights.
Thus, “uninterrupted” suddenly turned into “agonizing days without seeing her.”
During those times, Cheng Sangluo made no progress in investigating her own case, but she did make headway on the other matter.
She found the group of thugs who were prepared to severely harm Lin Jin. They were the same group who kidnapped Cheng Xing. The clues were thanks to the memorable baseball bat.
That night, Cheng Sangluo tracked the thugs all the way to a dilapidated small fishing village on the outskirts of Zhouhai.
The village had been abandoned for many years, with only two or three families sparsely living there.
This remote place seemed forgotten by the city, developing into a lawless zone.
Someone had set up an illegal gambling den in the village. It was deserted during the day, but at night, it was a chaotic scene of vice.
Cheng Sangluo estimated she had met the thugs twice, and such a place was not easy to infiltrate. She chose to hide in the grass outside the den and stake out.
Her goal was simple: find the loan shark to question him about Xu Songheng and figure out a way to send these people to the police station.
If she were to say this was all to clear her own name, the reason would be sufficient and undeniable. But why risk her life to capture everyone? Cheng Sangluo had no reason to convince herself, when she could have easily avoided the trouble.
Perhaps, the image of the ankle that frequently flashed in her mind was at work.
Initially, when the pale ankle was held in her palm, it provoked a silent, forceful grip because it had crushed her dignity.
Later, its bruised and swollen appearance looked pitiful, just like its owner, who was both arrogant and heartbreaking.
Cheng Sangluo felt a sudden urge for revenge.
She wasn’t avenging herself, but acting for the crazy woman who had broken into her heart.
When this thought arose, she was startled, but quickly recorded a video and sent it to Ji Nanxing, along with her location.
Ji Nanxing’s reply was fast. She immediately confirmed the location in the video was an underground gambling den without any doubt.
She instructed Cheng Sangluo to stay put and not act rashly, promising to dispatch police support immediately.
However, Cheng Sangluo, with a murderous resolve, had already rushed into the den alone.
There was only one thug standing watch at the door, wearing a helmet and carrying a baseball bat.
Cheng Sangluo pulled off a brilliant move of misdirection, successfully ambushing him and changing into his clothes.
She put on the helmet to conceal her identity and lingered by the door for a while, pretending to be fetching water before entering the house.
‘As a land reconnaissance soldier, you must not only survey the terrain but also identify concentration points of firepower in an extremely short time. In military exercises, your mission is to scout the enemy stronghold and provide support for a full-scale offensive for your team.’
Cheng Sangluo’s mind wandered, thinking about how she used to move through the dense forest, guarding against enemy reconnaissance teams while systematically completing her own mission.
She was intelligent and excellent at applying principles. Applying her practical experience to the current situation meant first finding the person with the most authority in the casino.
The loan shark was easy to spot, as they had met in Seventeen Ports.
“Hey, why are you coming inside when you’re supposed to be guarding outside?”
Cheng Sangluo was about to step into the innermost small room of the casino when a nearby henchman stopped her.
Fortunately, she remained calm, slowly lowering her voice to reply: “It’s so hot. I came in for a drink of water.”
“You must be new. The pantry is over there. You can’t just walk into this room. Be careful not to get shot by the boss.” The henchman wasn’t suspicious but kindly warned her: “Grab your water and get out quickly.”
Hearing him, Cheng Sangluo was even more certain that the boss with the gun was the person she had met in Seventeen Ports.
She nodded silently, looking around once more as she turned.
The casino was small, with about ten tables in total—people playing poker, mahjong, and high/low—all arguing loudly.
There were about ten henchmen standing by, each guarding a table. The narrow space was full of smoke, irritating people’s throats and eyes.
Suddenly, a person limped out of the small room, saw Cheng Sangluo turning to leave, and shouted: “Stop.”
Cheng Sangluo’s heart skipped a beat, and her breathing beneath the helmet became heavier.
She forced herself to turn around. Seeing the person who called her, she paused. It was the thug whose ankle Lin Jin had broken.
The man lit a cigarette and sized her up, hopping two steps closer, as if trying to see through the helmet. “What are you doing?”
Just as Cheng Sangluo was about to answer that she was getting water, she noticed a suspicious look in the man’s eyes.
Simultaneously, the highly vigilant man roared: “Wait, you’re not one of us!”
Cheng Sangluo could always formulate preemptive plans in the blink of an eye.
Attacking when suspected was better than being controlled, having the helmet removed, and being silenced. At least it offered a chance to win.
Without a word, Cheng Sangluo grabbed the limping man and charged toward the door, aiming to both break into the small room and use the first person who discovered her as a blockade.
As she expected, the old, broken wooden door was easily smashed through.
The inner room was essentially the VIP room of the casino. There was only one table of people playing a final round, and the boss she was looking for was sitting in a prominent position.
Cheng Sangluo locked onto her target, stomped on the gambling table, and leaped toward the boss, kneeing him hard in the stomach. This would temporarily incapacitate him, giving her a chance to suppress him from drawing his gun.
This commotion brought a swarm of henchmen, but everyone was a step late.
In that brief moment, Cheng Sangluo relied on instinct to grab the boss’s gun, immediately chambering a round and pressing it against his temple.
Her tone was relaxed, even containing a hint of a smile: “Hey, the bullet is chambered. Do you dare to come in?”
“Everyone stop!” The boss’s face, covered in flesh, trembled with fear. He raised both hands, stopping his subordinates from moving rashly.
He squinted, trying to see who was holding him hostage, but hindered by the helmet, he gave up: “Who… who are you?”
Cheng Sangluo didn’t answer directly. Instead, she used the gun butt to tap his head. “You taught me in Seventeen Ports, didn’t you? Solving problems requires brains.”
The man suddenly realized, roaring: “It’s you! Cheng Sangluo?!”
“Long time no see, creditor.” Cheng Sangluo greeted him with a smile, then immediately corrected herself: “No, former creditor.”
“What are you here for?”
“To ask you a few questions, of course.” Cheng Sangluo fiercely pressed the gun against the man’s head, stepping behind him and locking her arm around his neck. “Don’t you dare fool me. You said it yourself, bullets have no eyes.”
“You, you, you… You ask… I promise to tell you everything I know…”
Cheng Sangluo had many questions, but the first one she blurted out wasn’t for herself: “Did Lin Sheng send your men to attack Lin Jin?”
“Yes… it was him…”
“Well, your subordinate only broke one foot. I feel that’s a loss.” Cheng Sangluo’s face darkened as she looked at the person lying prone by the door, whispering a demand: “He needs to break the other one, symbolizing good things come in pairs. What do you think?”
The man didn’t dare resist. His throat was constricted, making it hard to breathe. He could only roar in a hoarse voice: “What are you idiots waiting for? Beat him!”
Cheng Sangluo watched the man who broke Lin Jin’s ankle being beaten by a group of thugs, letting out a satisfied, soft laugh: “Second question. How long have you known Xu Songheng?”
“Five… five or six years… A long time…”
“So, you already knew Xu Songheng three years ago.” Cheng Sangluo pondered for a moment, then asked: “Three years ago, there was a fight in Nanwu Village. Were your men involved? When I appeared at Seventeen Ports, you recognized me immediately, which means you knew me a long time ago, right?”
“I don’t know… I don’t know anything about a fight in Nanwu Village… I…”
“Are you fooling me?” Cheng Sangluo pressed the gun harder against the man’s head. “Keep pretending. Will you recover your memory if you get another hole in your body?”
“I remember, I remember! I sent my men to follow Xu Songheng, but I wasn’t there myself! I really wasn’t there!” The man finally gave in, explaining: “If I were there, you would remember me, right?”
Cheng Sangluo thought that made sense. She was about to move on to the next question when:
“Police!”
“Nobody move! Nobody move!”
“Put your hands on your head and squat on the ground, don’t move!”
Several police shouts came from outside, interrupting Cheng Sangluo’s interrogation.
She shoved the man to the side and skillfully began to disassemble the gun.
In just ten short seconds, the gun in her hand was dismantled into pieces, clattering onto the floor.
Just then, Ji Nanxing rushed in with her team, looking around the room and shouting: “Cheng Sangluo? Cheng Sangluo?”
Cheng Sangluo quickly removed her helmet and replied: “I’m here.”
Ji Nanxing let out a sigh of relief seeing her unharmed, but immediately scolded her: “Didn’t I tell you not to act rashly? Why did you have to alert them?!”
She hurried closer, noticing something under her foot. Looking down, she saw scattered gun parts. She sternly questioned everyone: “Where did this gun come from?”
Cheng Sangluo nonchalantly pointed with her lips, then pulled up the man’s waistband to reveal the holster. “The gun is his. I disassembled it.”
“You few, handcuff everyone and collect all the gun parts. Take them with you.” After instructing her subordinates, Ji Nanxing grabbed Cheng Sangluo and walked her toward the door. “You come with me!”
When they reached the open space outside.
Ji Nanxing violently shook off Cheng Sangluo’s arm. Likely furious, she paced with her hands on her hips.
Fortunately, the officer had excellent emotional control and quickly suppressed the rising anger.
She lowered her voice, questioning: “What are you doing? How dare you act alone when the suspects were armed? This kind of thing should be handled by the police! Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?”
Cheng Sangluo picked at her ear, feigning impatience: “Are you done with the lecture? Can I go now?”
“No, you have to come back with me to make a statement.” Ji Nanxing was all business, but suddenly noticed a few drops of red liquid on the ground. She quickly grabbed Cheng Sangluo’s arm. “Are you hurt?”
“I’m not… Hiss… Oh dear…” Before Cheng Sangluo could finish her sentence, she felt a sharp pain in her side.
She looked down at her torn T-shirt. Lifting her shirt, she discovered a deep gash on her side.
She tried to recall. It must have happened when she clashed with the limping man, when she was vaguely sliced by something. Perhaps the adrenaline rush at the time prevented her from feeling the pain.
“Never mind. We’ll take your statement another time. I’m taking you to the hospital first.”
“It’s just a small scratch.” Cheng Sangluo tried to cover the wound, but her hands were busy. She could only slow her breathing as much as possible to prevent more blood from oozing out.
“Stop acting tough! You are not a Special Forces soldier anymore. Can you please take some responsibility for your own life?” Ji Nanxing’s words were reasonable. She turned and instructed her deputy to take over: “Su Qiao, organize the team to take these criminals away. I’m taking her to the hospital to treat her wound.”
Su Qiao waved from a distance: “I’ll handle things here. You two go.”
Soon, Cheng Sangluo followed Ji Nanxing to the police car.
Ji Nanxing retrieved a packet of cotton balls and iodine from the passenger seat compartment, lifted her shirt, and briefly cleaned the wound. While doing so, she mentioned: “Have you not gone to see Lin Jin all this time?”
The sudden mention of Lin Jin made Cheng Sangluo slightly uncomfortable. She replied: “Hmm, how is her foot injury? Did she have surgery?”
“I heard from Shi Nian that her ankle surgery was successful, but…”
“But?” Cheng Sangluo paused, her voice suddenly anxious: “But what? What happened to her?”
“Her mental state is very poor. I heard she can’t eat and has to rely on IV nutrition every day…”
“Why is it so bad? How can a foot injury affect her mental health?” Cheng Sangluo raised her voice and quickly got out of the passenger car door. “Go, go, go! Hurry to the hospital.”
“Didn’t you know? She transferred to the health center.”
Cheng Sangluo had already buckled her seatbelt and leaned her head out, urging: “Then go to the health center! Don’t just sit there! Hurry up and drive!”
Ji Nanxing snorted coldly: “What’s the rush now?”
As she got into the driver’s seat, she buckled her seatbelt and taunted: “If you’re so worried, why haven’t you gone to see her?”
