Falling After Marriage - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Wanting to Deceive You and Take You Home
The night was not too deep; there were still a few passersby on the main road.
However, the group of motorcycle hooligans created a huge scene, giving the false impression that they were untouchable and had to be avoided.
They deliberately revved their engines, circling Lin Jin constantly, trapping her in place, unable to move her legs.
The leader, a young man with large, tattooed arms, suddenly popped the front wheel like he was riding a horse, drawing cheers from his companions. Finally, he abruptly stopped sideways in front of Lin Jin in a showy move.
He pushed up the visor of his helmet, chewing betel nut, and smiled crookedly: “Beautiful, you must be bored alone. Get on my bike, and I’ll take you for a ride~”
Lin Jin didn’t appear cold; a playful smile was constantly hooked on her lips. Her gaze, which already treated people like dogs, now looked even more like she was watching a group of juggling monkeys.
When invited, she didn’t refuse immediately. Catching sight of the figure rushing towards her from a distance, carrying a pry bar, she suddenly felt like having some fun with these guys, and also teasing the puppy hiding her worry.
She reached out and stroked the young man’s motorcycle front, complimenting him in a false manner: “The bike is quite pretty.”
The young man rested his hands on the dashboard, leaning closer and whispering greasy words: “Sister is prettier than the bike. Why don’t you come with your little brother? Little brother is very playful and skilled.”
“I’m just worried little brother can’t handle it,” Lin Jin poked his helmet, pretending to flirt, though her aura carried a hint of subtle danger that was hard to detect.
His flippant words alone were enough for Lin Jin to play a few tricks and ensure he met a bad end.
The young man was about to turn and pat the motorcycle’s rear seat, signaling Lin Jin to get on, when he was suddenly and without warning kicked over, bike and all.
He was pinned under the motorcycle, groaning in pain. His splayed-out posture was comical, and he couldn’t get up immediately.
Cheng Sangluo’s speed was swift, her force packed with powerful explosive strength. Her long legs almost left a blur, and the flying kick was so fast that the surrounding people didn’t react in time.
Lin Jin looked at the person defending her, her eyes flickering with delight, but mostly anticipation. She wanted to see what Cheng Sangluo would do next, so she chose to remain silent.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“Are you looking for a fight?”
The other few hooligans shouted, jumping off their bikes, ready to fight at any moment.
The young man who was kicked down felt humiliated. He pounded the ground, roaring: “Hit her! Hit her for me!”
Cheng Sangluo hadn’t said a word the entire time. She lifted the pry bar in her hand and pressed it against the person closest to her. Her eyes conveyed a single message: If you don’t want to die, get lost immediately.
She was already tall and imposing, her presence carrying a murderous intensity. Coupled with that violent kick earlier, anyone with eyes could see her fighting skills were considerable.
To increase the deterrence, she silently shifted her foot, stepping directly onto the young man’s hand and applying crushing pressure, drawing out painful pleas for mercy.
The few who were about to surround her heard their boss howling on the ground. They exchanged glances and retreated their steps.
It seemed this fight wouldn’t happen.
Cheng Sangluo was so confident because she had understood these people had no real capability. They were just like their modified motorcycles, only capable of empty, blustering roars.
She pressed the pry bar against the person under her foot, finally uttering a single word: “Scram.”
“Don’t go yet, I haven’t had enough fun,” Lin Jin suddenly spoke, walking up to her. She whispered: “You’re worried about me, but I wanted to play with them~”
Cheng Sangluo frowned. She was one of the few who could sense the hidden danger in Lin Jin, so she knocked the young man’s head with the pry bar, urging: “Hurry up and leave, go!”
With that, she grabbed Lin Jin’s wrist and quickly headed towards the auto repair shop.
Lin Jin was delighted that the puppy stood up for her, but annoyed by that ridiculous kindness.
Following behind Cheng Sangluo, she made a throat-slitting gesture toward Sheng He, who was standing not far away, indicating that he should teach them a good lesson.
This woman was always calculating. On the surface, she didn’t seem bothered by those who harassed her, but secretly, she let no one off the hook.
She was wearing high heels and walking on uneven tiles. Walking too fast could sprain her ankle, so she called out delicately: “Can you walk slower?”
Cheng Sangluo didn’t look back but heard the words. Her pace naturally slowed down, while she grumbled: “Don’t you think you’re a hassle? Trouble follows you wherever you go.”
“I’m a femme fatale, after all~” Lin Jin raised an eyebrow, taking the opportunity to firmly clasp the hand holding her wrist, quietly changing it to interlaced fingers.
“Hmph, you sure know how to praise yourself,” Cheng Sangluo snorted. She glanced down at her clasped hand and tried to shake it off a few times without success. “Are you adhesive tape?”
“Yes, after all, you’re a puppy, so what’s wrong with me sticking to you?”
“…” Cheng Sangluo was speechless. Once back in the shop, she ignored the crazy woman and continued silently tinkering with the car tires.
Lin Jin opened a can of Coke and offered it to her, teasing: “Here, Coke that I almost sacrificed my looks for. You have no reason not to drink it.”
Cheng Sangluo glared at the Coke, snatched it irritably, took a symbolic sip, and put it aside.
Lin Jin didn’t hesitate. She picked up the can and took a small sip. It was sickly sweet, making her joke: “Are you hiding sugar in your mouth?”
Cheng Sangluo ignored the strange flirtatious comment, but after a moment of biting her lip in silence, she finally brought up a topic: “I really like this job. I beg you, stop causing trouble. Even if you’re willing to be a sucker and let me rip you off, I won’t thank you.”
“You’re ungrateful. I’m happy to let you rip me off, yet I can’t even get a thank you from you. How stingy,” Lin Jin leaned lazily nearby. Despite finding the Coke too sweet, she was obsessed with the fact that Cheng Sangluo had drunk it, so she took another small taste. “I came today only to remind you not to forget the repayment deadline on the debt agreement. There’s not much time left, only one month.”
Cheng Sangluo was rolling a tire, she paused, hunched over. After some hesitation, she admitted honestly: “I don’t have the money. I can’t pay it back.”
Lin Jin folded one arm and shook the Coke can, speaking calmly but delivering a threat: “Then wait for me to trouble you. I thought I could find fault with the landlord before, but now there’s another auto repair shop. You, you, you’re getting more and more vulnerable.”
Cheng Sangluo couldn’t stand this kind of provocation. She shoved the tire away and walked up to the crazy woman, scolding softly: “Can’t you use a more sophisticated method? Do you have to push me like this?”
“Yes, I have to push you like this so you will come to me, just like you are now.”
Lin Jin always maintained that look of you can’t do anything to me, so what are you going to do about it? In Cheng Sangluo’s eyes, this translated into endless hatred.
The two confronted each other in silence for a while. Cheng Sangluo was the first to coldly look away.
She had already been delayed too long by this damned woman and needed to bury her head and rush the work.
Lin Jin sensed Cheng Sangluo’s intense fatigue. Upon closer examination, she noticed the woman had lost weight. Her already defined jawline now looked even sharper.
She fiddled with the Coke can, her sighing tone softening slightly: “Fine. I’ll pick up the car tomorrow.”
Cheng Sangluo lowered her head to tidy her tools, unwilling to spare Lin Jin a glance: “Take care, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
“Cheng Sangluo,” Lin Jin walked to the Bentley and called out to her: “Do you take designated driver jobs? The price is negotiable.”
“But you haven’t drunk…” The word ‘drunk’ hadn’t fully left Cheng Sangluo’s mouth when she froze.
Lin Jin had not only bought Coke but had also prepared beer in advance for this specific interaction.
She pulled the tab, took a large, quick gulp, and sighed contentedly: “Who said I haven’t had a drink?”
Cheng Sangluo had to admit that the crazy woman was truly skilled at setting up her chessboard. A little trick was all it took to lead her by the nose.
She angrily threw down her cotton gloves. She neither agreed nor refused, instead walking to the restroom to change back into her own clothes.
When she emerged, Lin Jin was already patiently waiting in the passenger seat.
Cheng Sangluo was utterly helpless. Since she couldn’t drive the brazen crazy woman away, she reluctantly opened the car door and got into the driver’s seat.
Cheng Sangluo’s driving skills were decent; she drove very smoothly. It might also be because the car was so expensive that she didn’t dare drive too fast, fearing a slight mistake would lead to unnecessary debt.
Lin Jin rested her head on one hand, staring at Cheng Sangluo’s profile the entire time, lost in thought. She was so engrossed that her eyes curved into a smile, unable to stop herself.
Cheng Sangluo felt completely uncomfortable being stared at. When she could finally tolerate it no longer, she lightly tapped the brake. “Why do you keep staring at me? Don’t you know that’s offensive?”
Lin Jin jolted forward with the inertia, but was quickly restrained by the seatbelt.
She wasn’t angry; instead, she laughed shamelessly: “I was just thinking, your driving skills are good, and I wonder…”
She deliberately drew out her words, then suddenly leaned close to the puppy’s ear, unexpectedly nibbling it. She whispered seductively: “I wonder if your driving skills in bed are just as good. I really want to find out~”
That warm, moist breath seemed enchanted, stirring up a silent storm with a frustrating itchiness.
Cheng Sangluo desperately rubbed her ear, trying to wipe away all the illusions Lin Jin had created.
She was emotionally inexperienced and couldn’t handle such flippant teasing, so she couldn’t control the flush spreading across her face and the burning sensation.
Lin Jin was an expert in conquering fortresses. She lifted a strand of hair and brushed it against the puppy’s high-bridged nose: “Admit it, you’re shy~”
“Do you know that harassing a driver is a crime?” Cheng Sangluo pushed her away with one hand, feigning composure as she chided: “Move away. You’re blocking the rear-view mirror.”
Lin Jin sat up resentfully, muttering: “You can’t handle my teasing. You’re just shy. You should be fluttering inside…”
Silence descended upon the car cabin.
Cheng Sangluo occasionally checked the rear-view mirror and glanced at the somewhat melancholic woman from the corner of her eye, suddenly recalling Wei Yun’s words from that day.
‘Perhaps Lin Jin is one of your few breakthroughs. Figure out a way to get close to her. You might have unexpected gains. After all, the enemy of your enemy is your teammate.’
Cheng Sangluo had been laying the groundwork to leverage Lin Jin’s influence. Perhaps this was the source of her fearlessness these past few days.
She knew clearly that Lin Jin repeatedly crossed her boundaries and exhausted all her tricks, all because she wanted Cheng Sangluo’s submission. Yet, Cheng Sangluo was precisely the person who refused to yield.
How to leverage this influence while maintaining her dignity was the question that constantly troubled Cheng Sangluo.
They didn’t exchange another word during the drive until the car entered the underground garage of Linxitai.
Cheng Sangluo slammed the car door shut and turned to walk away, not even bothering to offer a goodbye.
Lin Jin leaned leisurely against the Bentley’s hood and called out: “Cheng Sangluo.”
Seeing the person ignore her, she called again: “Don’t you want your designated driver fee?”
As expected, money was the most appealing thing.
Cheng Sangluo turned back smoothly, walking back with her head slightly bowed. When she got closer, she remained silent, extending her arm and crookedly beckoning with her fingers.
Lin Jin slowly picked up her handbag, deliberately pretending to search fruitlessly: “Hmm, I don’t seem to have any cash. Would you like to come upstairs with me to get it?”
