- Fake Pregnancy? Oops, It’s Real — and So Is the Husband
- Chapter 12 - Only Agreed to Marry Me After Getting Pregnant
[What? President Pei guessed it already? That was way too fast!]
[This is a bit unexpected.]
[Director, are you sure there’s no mistake? This speed isn’t normal, is it?]
[Some people are just too jealous. Doesn’t this prove President Pei pays close attention to Shen Lai? You all keep bragging about how great Young Master Huo and Bai Hansui’s relationship is… why didn’t he guess correctly then?]
The moment Bai Hansui and Huo Chilin were brought up, their CP fans immediately jumped in to clap back.
The livestream chat descended into chaos.
Huo Chilin suddenly spoke up, “Director Miao, are you sure there’s no mistake?”
He shot Pei Jingyan a deep look, seriously suspecting the production team had messed up.
How could Pei Jingyan have guessed it right?
Pei Jingyan removed his blindfold, casually running a hand through his hair, his lips curling into a smirk. “What, do you know my wife’s belongings better than I do?”
Hearing the word “wife,” Huo Chilin’s eyelid twitched, his fists clenching audibly.
Director Miao, oblivious to the tension in the air, confirmed firmly, “No mistake, this does belong to Miss Shen.”
He then turned to Shen Lai. “Miss Shen, isn’t that right?”
Shen Lai nodded.
This was indeed the sunglasses she often wore.
But how did Pei Jingyan recognize them?
Shen Lai gave Pei Jingyan a complicated look, only to meet his deep, unreadable gaze.
“What, not happy even though we won?” Pei Jingyan’s tone was impossible to decipher—whether it was sarcasm or something else.
“No,” Shen Lai hesitated. “How did you guess it?”
She had already prepared herself for punishment, but Pei Jingyan had actually won.
Pei Jingyan’s expression was unruffled. “I saw these sunglasses in your suitcase the day you moved in.”
Shen Lai suddenly remembered, Pei Jingyan had come to her room that day while she was unpacking.
No wonder he had guessed it so accurately.
Suppressing the strange feeling in her chest, Shen Lai didn’t dwell on it further. At least they wouldn’t lose this round.
As the only two male guests who failed the task, Huo Chilin and Yan Rui had to face punishment.
Director Miao announced, “For this next segment, you’ll need to read out the most outrageous rumor about you circulating online… and it must be a version with over 10,000 likes!”
Huo Chilin thought to himself, What outrageous rumors could I possibly have? Confidently, he took the phone handed to him by a staff member.
The top comment was from a user named [Annoy Me and Perish]: A friend of mine works in the industry. Apparently, when Bai Hansui was filming an ad, Huo Chilin disguised himself as a janitor. During her intimate scenes, he paced around the set with a mop like a jealous maniac, keeping tabs on his girlfriend’s work and slapping anyone who rubbed him the wrong way.
The set erupted in laughter from the other guests.
Huo Chilin’s temple throbbed.
Bai Hansui quickly smoothed things over with a smile. “That’s a misunderstanding. I accidentally spilled coffee that day, and we were about to film. Chilin was worried someone might slip, so he cleaned it up himself.”
[OMG, this is straight out of a romantic K-drama!]
[A rich heir lowering himself to do chores for his girlfriend, he probably never lifts a finger at home. So sweet, so sweet, so sweet!]
[Whoever dares say our couple is fake again, I’ll slap the earwax out of you.]
Next up was Yan Rui. When he saw the top comment, his expression turned indescribable. He asked tentatively, “Can I skip this?”
Director Miao smiled. “No can do. Punishment is mandatory for failing the task.”
Yan Rui gave up, Yan Rui compromised, Yan Rui decided to throw caution to the wind and loudly read out the top comment: “Let me spill a secret… Yan Rui is actually transgender. He underwent sex reassignment surgery while living in Thailand with his mother, abandoning his luscious curves just to exploit gender benefits. Too bad Wu Qi has been kept in the dark all this time.”
As soon as these words left his mouth, Yan Rui felt countless eyes land on him.
Tong Miaoling subtly nudged Wu Qi with her elbow and whispered, “Is it true?”
Wu Qi replied calmly, “Though he lacks any masculine charm, I can assure you his body is genuinely male.”
This indirectly debunked the absurd rumor for Yan Rui.
Hearing this, Yan Rui glanced at Wu Qi, who stiffened slightly and silently turned her head away.
After the punishment ended, the production team announced the next task: the “Heartbreak Message Board.”
The rules were simple… all guests had to stand in front of a massive electronic screen displaying real-time audience comments. When a guest called “stop,” they had to respond to the selected comment.
If they chose not to answer, they could forfeit.
Dai Jingxuan suddenly asked, “What happens if we forfeit?”
Director Miao gave a thumbs-up. “Great question, Emperor Dai! Those who forfeit become the manual laborers, carrying luggage for the other guests.”
The order would follow the previous draw: Pei-Shen team, Huo-Bai team, Yan-Wu team, and Dai-Tong team.
“Should you call stop, or should I?” Pei Jingyan drawled lazily.
Shen Lai thought for a moment. “You do it.”
Surely Pei Jingyan’s luck had to be better than hers… a bankrupt heiress.
Without hesitation, Pei Jingyan called out “stop” as the screen scrolled, his tone unhurried.
The screen gradually halted on a viewer’s question: How long have the two of you been dating? Was it a shotgun wedding?
Shen Lai: “………”
“Seems my luck isn’t great,” Pei Jingyan remarked nonchalantly.
Shen Lai gritted her teeth and muttered, “Yours is downright terrible.”
And of all the questions, why did it have to land on such a sensitive topic at such a delicate time?
Pei Jingyan shot her a sidelong glance. “Maybe I caught your bad luck.”
Shen Lai choked, momentarily speechless.
Director Miao kindly asked, “President Pei, Miss Shen, will you answer or forfeit?”
While Shen Lai was still weighing the pros and cons, Pei Jingyan had already spoken. “Answer.”
Shen Lai widened her eyes slightly in surprise.
“First question: two and a half months,” Pei Jingyan stated coolly. “Second question: yes.”
Without the slightest hesitation, his answer was like a stone dropped into a lake, instantly sending ripples across the surface.
[So they’ve been together for less than half a year?][Then it really was a shotgun wedding?]
[No wonder Pei Jingyan doesn’t seem that into Shen Lai… he only married her because she got pregnant, right?]
[How’s that for a slap in the face to those who said they had a great relationship?]
Huo Chilin let out a faint scoff, as if to say, I knew it.
Bai Hansui’s eyes held an unreadable emotion.
Dai Jingxuan and Tong Miaoling exchanged a glance.
Yan Rui and Wu Qi watched the pair thoughtfully.
Director Miao seemed surprised by Pei Jingyan’s answer. “So, you and Miss Shen got married just two months after dating?”
Pei Jingyan replied indifferently, “Who said you can’t get a marriage license after two months?”
Director Miao thoughtfully voiced the audience’s question, “So you married Miss Shen because she was pregnant?”
“No.”
Pei Jingyan smiled faintly, “It was only because she was pregnant that she agreed to marry me.”
