- Chapter 3 - Check-in
Cheng Xiaoming changed into loose casual clothes and went downstairs, sniffing the air before heading into the kitchen.
Only Ye Zhuoyan stood by the sink, draining washed dishes.
Spotting the perfectly made sandwiches on the dining table, Cheng Xiaoming asked, “Did you make these? They look delicious.”
“Not me. Wen Huiyun did.”
“Oh.”
Cheng Xiaoming glanced around, apparently looking for Wen Huiyun.
Earlier, after moving the luggage, Cheng had proactively adjusted the vanity stool height for Ye Zhuoyan, leaving the omega with a favorable impression of this “diligent and reliable alpha.”
Ye Zhuoyan said, “She made extra on purpose. Try one.”
“Thanks, I won’t stand on ceremony then.”
The live chat exploded:
[Handmade Goddess specifically made sandwiches for Ye Queen, but she’s giving them away without even tasting? Not cool!]
[Handmade Goddess isn’t that petty. She made them for everyone to share. Eating or not is personal choice.]
[So Ye Queen dislikes Handmade Goddess and prefers Cheng Xiaoming?]
Taking a bite, Cheng’s eyes sparkled: “Amazing! There’s peanut butter too.”
Ye Zhuoyan asked, “You like peanut butter?”
Swallowing, Cheng nodded: “Yeah, I love nuts.”
“I’m allergic, so I can’t eat them.”
For a privileged alpha like Cheng who’d tasted every delicacy to praise the food meant it was genuinely good.
Yet Ye Zhuoyan wondered, how did Wen Huiyun manage this?
Had Wen really suffered trauma during her disappearance that scrambled her brains into learning cooking?
Noticing one remaining sandwich, Cheng asked, “Is Huiyun coming down?”
“She said she’d wash dishes later.”
“I’ll eat this last piece and do the dishes then.”
Ye Zhuoyan said nothing, retrieving her signature ice-patterned tin from the fridge and popping a milk chocolate into her mouth.
“Want one?” she offered.
“No thanks. You like chocolate?”
“Only milk flavor.” Closing the fridge, she added, “Now you know I like milk chocolate, and I know you like nuts. That’s fair.”
Cheng laughed: “Are you a judge?”
Ye shrugged: “Too bad the law forbids omegas from judging.” Raising her fair jade-like hand in a slight wave: “I’m heading up first.”
After washing dishes, Cheng went upstairs.
She shared a twin room with Liang Yuan, while Wen Huiyun had the adjacent single.
Just as she reached the landing, she encountered Wen heading to the bathroom with toothbrush and paste.
Cheng stopped her, patting her shoulder: “Great cooking. I did the dishes.”
Wen stood dumbfounded, clutching her toiletries: “?”
Amused by her clueless expression, Cheng explained: “Your sandwiches were delicious. Also, Ye Zhuoyan’s allergic to nuts. When she’s around, avoid peanut butter probably sesame oil too.”
Wen: “!”
[OMG Handmade Goddess is adorably clueless!]
[Cheng Xiaoming seems dense, why tell a rival alpha about Ye Queen’s preferences?]
[Some viewers are the dense ones, can’t you see this obvious tragic alpha-alpha romance?]
[If I die young, it’ll be from laughing at you guys lol]
Wen Huiyun finished brushing her teeth and returned to her room in frustration.
She clenched her fists and slammed them onto the desk.
Ye Zhuoyan was allergic to nuts, yet she had made her a peanut butter sandwich, Ye Zhuoyan must have misunderstood her even more now!
From the looks of it, the memories she inherited from the original host had many gaps. She would have to be much more careful from now on.
Should she go apologize to Ye Zhuoyan now?
Wen Huiyun immediately dismissed the idea. The damage was already done, and Ye Zhuoyan was hurt. Right now, Ye Zhuoyan was still furious, if she went to apologize, she’d only be walking straight into the line of fire and making things worse.
The best course of action was to let Ye Zhuoyan see her gradually improve, slowly rebuilding trust between them.
Wen Huiyun sat quietly for a while, waiting for her agitated emotions to settle.
She used the white towel draped over her shoulders to dry the droplets from her shower, then stood and walked toward the wardrobe.
When she pulled open the door, a strong, pungent scent of hard liquor rushed out at her.
Before she could even see what was inside, a dark figure lunged from the wardrobe and collapsed onto her.
Wen Huiyun screamed at the top of her lungs: “WAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!”
Her shriek was so loud it echoed through the entire second floor of the villa. Not only did Cheng Xiaoming and Liang Yuan from the neighboring rooms rush over, but even the omegas from the right wing came running in concern.
“Huff… huff…”
Wen Huiyun barely dared to breathe. Lying limply on top of her was a woman an omega, no less, who was actively releasing pheromones. Though Wen Huiyun hadn’t yet presented, she had been injected with the original host’s pheromones before joining the show, making her more sensitive to an omega’s scent than an unpresented person normally would be.
“Mmm… Let me see which naughty little alpha sneaked into big sister’s boudoir, hmm?”
The omega had waist-length platinum blonde hair with thin lavender-pink streaks framing her face, shimmering eye makeup, and a wine-red backless leather dress that hugged her voluptuous curves, her perky rear especially eye-catching.
She lifted a finger to tilt Wen Huiyun’s chin, her breath carrying the scent of alcohol. “Not bad-looking fair and clean. Be good, and big sister can take some private photos for you~”
Wen Huiyun gently pushed the omega away. “Hello, you’re drunk!”
She was internally screaming: What the hell is the production team doing? How could they let someone this wasted into the set?!
Desperate, Wen Huiyun shot pleading glances at the surrounding guests.
Cheng Xiaoming’s eyes flickered with a trace of disgust. As someone who pursued virtuous, demure partners, she had always held prejudices against promiscuous omegas.
Items from the wardrobe had spilled out, scattering at Wen Huiyun’s feet. Among them was a box made of unusual material, Cheng Xiaoming glanced at it a few times, her expression growing unreadable.
Liang Yuan looked somewhat concerned, but given the circumstances, it wasn’t appropriate for an alpha to step in and help an omega like this.
Ye Zhuoyan’s expression was cold, while Mi Tao behind her looked utterly shocked, taking a step back.
In the end, it was Ye Zhuoyan who stepped forward, peeling the serpentine omega off Wen Huiyun.
[Earth-shattering bomb: What is this?!]
[This is: Love & Nest S4’s legendary moment ×1]
[I don’t like Omega No. 3! No omega morals! Too ****ing shameless! No alpha would want her!]
[We omegas don’t need to be defined! Get lost, trash alphas!]
The AI broadcast chimed in: “Welcome our third omega guest!”
Everyone was stunned, their gazes locking onto the drunken, seductive omega.
Omega raised the laser-shell phone hanging around her neck, turned on the selfie mode, wrapped her arms around Ye Zhuoyan’s jade-like neck, tilted the camera, and captured everyone in the frame.
“Three, two, one, smile!”
She pressed the shutter, then turned back to blow a kiss at everyone: “I’m Jiang Yining, available for private photoshoots”
Wen Huiyun covered her face, reeking of alcohol, her freshly showered state was now wasted.
First, there was that misunderstanding with Ye Zhuoyan over the peanut butter, and now this mess even if she jumped into the Yellow River, she wouldn’t be able to clear her name!
Wen Huiyun gathered the scattered items and stuffed them back into the wardrobe.
Even her alpha pheromone stabilizer had fallen out. Luckily, she had changed the packaging, or she’d be in trouble if someone found it.
A weight settled on her shoulder, and Wen Huiyun turned her head.
Cheng Xiaoming looked at her with concern. “Are you okay?”
Wen Huiyun’s gaze dropped to Cheng Xiaoming’s hand resting on her shoulder this very hand might one day slit her throat…
A shiver ran down her spine. She brushed it off lightly and murmured, “I’m an alpha. What could possibly happen to me?”
[Key point: Handmaiden said, “I’m an ‘alpha’!”]
[I’m a little confused about Cheng Xiaoming. Didn’t she have feelings for Ye Zhuoyan? Why does the atmosphere get so weird whenever she’s with Wen Huiyun?]
[All I can say is, the show’s scriptwriters are getting bold this season!]
Cheng Xiaoming followed Wen Huiyun into the bathroom.
No cameras were allowed in the bathroom, it was private.
Wen Huiyun stepped into the shower and locked the door while Cheng Xiaoming brushed her teeth outside.
Cheng Xiaoming asked, “Why was Jiang Yining in your room?”
Wen Huiyun’s voice carried through the sound of running water. “No idea. She suddenly jumped out at me when I opened the wardrobe. Scared the hell out of me.”
Cheng Xiaoming frowned. “An omega living with that kind of behavior is dangerous. So…”
“I know what you’re getting at, but I don’t see a problem.”
Wen Huiyun understood. In this ABO world, society had layered countless shackles on omegas, filled with oppression and injustice. But Wen Huiyun was different, she had transmigrated into this world. To her, alphas and omegas were all just women.
Cheng Xiaoming said, “An omega who’s too open is also at high risk of contracting diseases.”
“Everyone on the show has passed medical checks. Don’t worry.”
“You’re right. I’m heading back to my room.”
Wen Huiyun rinsed the shampoo from her hair, her mind filled with the icy look Ye Zhuoyan had given her earlier.
She lowered her head and sighed in frustration.
How could she spare a thought for any other guest? Her heart was too small it only had room for one female lead: Ye Zhuoyan.
In the omega guests’ shared bedroom.
Ye Zhuoyan helped Jiang Yining lie down.
Mi Tao leaned against the wall, worried. “Zhuoyan-jie, maybe Yining-jie should take my bed so you can take care of her. I’ll go next door and make up a new bed.”
Ye Zhuoyan glanced at Jiang Yining—her cheeks were still flushed, her body temperature high. If they weren’t careful, she might catch a cold.
Ye Zhuoyan tucked Jiang Yining in, helped remove her makeup, and replied to Mi Tao, “Alright, let’s do that. You go ahead first. I’ll come help you in a bit.”
“Okay!”
AI announcement: “All three omega guests, please gather in the lounge immediately for an important announcement!”
Mi Tao gasped. “Huh?”
Ye Zhuoyan looked at Jiang Yining and called softly, “Jiang Yining?”
Jiang Yining opened her eyes and curled her lips: “I’m awake~ The small living room, right? Let’s go.”
Ye Zhuoyan breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Jiang Yining was awake otherwise, she wouldn’t have known how to get her out of the room.
The wooden floor was covered with a soft white rug, and the three omega guests sat around a cloud-shaped coffee table under warm lighting.
On the table lay three phones, each adorned with heart-shaped stickers.
AI Broadcast: “Now announcing the third rule of ‘Love Nest.'”
“Please take the ‘Love Phones’ on the table and compose a text message to the alpha you felt most drawn to today, send them a ‘Love Whisper.'”
“At the same time, send a sticker to the alpha you felt least connected to.”
