- Chapter 26 - It's Crowded
The Dream Room was different from the other private rooms aside from the massage bed, it also had a small hot spring pool.
Wen Huiyun and Jiang Yining sat soaking in the pool.
Jiang Yining peeled a grape and held it to Wen Huiyun’s lips, coaxing, “Aaaah~”
Her slender fingers pinched the plump little sphere, their pristine tips stained with purple-red juice.
The grape’s juices smeared onto Wen Huiyun’s lips, the sweet-tart flavor seeping into her taste buds.
“……”
Wen Huiyun silently shifted away, putting distance between herself and Jiang Yining.
She had originally been alone in the room when Jiang Yining suddenly showed up just as she settled into the pool.
Wen Huiyun said, “I really don’t want any. You can eat it yourself.”
Jiang Yining lightly tapped the grape against Wen Huiyun’s lips, poke, poke!
“Come on~ I peeled it just for you. At least have one to be polite.”
Jiang Yining: poke~ poke~
Wen Huiyun: lips sealed tight.
The juicy little grape was nearly dried out from all the poking.
“Huiyun, you’re really something. Living the good life.”
A deep voice came from the doorway.
Wen Huiyun whipped her head around plop, the grape fell into the pool.
Jiang Yining hurriedly scooped it up with both hands, her face clouded with worry as she pondered whether a grape soaked in hot spring water was still edible.
Cheng Xiaoming stood at the entrance, a few strands of silver-gray bangs falling over half her eyes.
Wen Huiyun asked, “Ming-jie, is something wrong?”
The show’s producers had intended for relay race teammates to bond by pairing alphas and omegas together in private rooms. Wen Huiyun didn’t understand why Cheng Xiaoming had come to hers.
The hallway lighting was dim, and the room’s recessed LED strips provided only soft illumination.
Cheng Xiaoming stood there like a silent mountain, casting a long shadow.
“I came to!”
Her gaze shifted downward into the pool.
Jiang Yining cradled the grape, her snow-lotus face flushed pink from the steam.
Having decided the grape was inedible, she cheerfully suggested, “Yunyun, if you won’t eat grapes, should I peel an apple for you?”
Then she noticed Cheng Xiaoming standing motionless at the door, and her smile vanished.
Cheng Xiaoming’s interest was piqued: “An apple? I’d like some too.”
Her eyes asked Wen Huiyun for permission to join.
As fellow guests, how could she refuse?
“Sure, Ming-jie, have a seat. I’ll order another fruit platter.”
Cheng Xiaoming joined them in the pool.
Wen Huiyun drew her limbs close, sitting stiffly in the center.
Jiang Yining sat to her right while Cheng Xiaoming kept some distance to her left.
Jiang Yining peeled a honeycrisp apple and, noticing Cheng Xiaoming’s stare, huffed, “Peel your own.”
Cheng Xiaoming extended her hand, “Please give me an apple.”
Jiang Yining rolled her eyes and slapped one into her palm.
“And a fruit knife.”
Another slap.
After peeling her apple, Cheng Xiaoming split it in half and offered one portion to Wen Huiyun.
Softly, she murmured, “Huiyun!”
“It seems lively in here. May I join?”
A clear, melodious voice sounded at the door.
Ye Zhuoyan stood there with hands clasped before her, graceful and demure.
All three turned abruptly splash, the apple segment fell into the water.
Cheng Xiaoming and Jiang Yining each fished out their peeled apples, wearing different expressions that conveyed the same question.
Why was Ye Zhuoyan here?
Now Wen Huiyun had an alpha on her left and an omega on her right, both trying to feed her apples.
What a shame it got dirty before I could eat it.
Ye Zhuoyan smiled apologetically and picked up the intercom on the table. “Having some fruit, huh? I’d like some too. I’ll order another plate.”
Ye Zhuoyan joined the hot spring pool.
Wen Huiyun hugged herself, helplessly squeezed in the center of the pool.
Ye Zhuoyan wedged herself between her and Jiang Yining.
Four people crammed into a hot spring pool only slightly larger than a bathtub, it was…
Way too crowded.
The tiny pool was now a mix of four distinct scents.
From left to right: silver tequila, caramel macchiato, vanilla marshmallow, and rose wine.
Ye Zhuoyan smiled faintly. “I thought it was just me here. Didn’t expect Huiyun’s private room to be so popular.”
Sweat dripped heavily from Wen Huiyun’s temples and neck whether from the heat of the pool or something else was unclear.
“Probably because this room has a hot spring.”
Cheng Xiaoming rested her cheek on her hand, lips curling. “More than just the hot spring, there’s also peeled grapes.”
Ye Zhuoyan’s gaze sharpened.
“How interesting. The grapes in my room still had their skins on.”
Wen Huiyun swallowed hard.
She wondered if she’d soaked long enough to leave now.
Yes, she should go to the buffet tea lounge for afternoon tea.
Jiang Yining’s eyes flickered as she said, “I remember the director mentioning that during breaks, we should stick to our relay race groups.”
She turned to Cheng Xiaoming. “Where’s Mi Tao?”
Then to Ye Zhuoyan. “And Liang Yuan?”
She and Yunyun soaking together was perfectly legitimate, after all~
Ye Zhuoyan and Cheng Xiaoming exchanged glances, reading similar experiences in each other’s eyes.
Mi Tao to Cheng Xiaoming: “I’m going to find Sister Liang Yuan!”
Mi Tao to Ye Zhuoyan: Smiling, somewhat welcoming, but not overly so.
Shuiyue Private Room.
Beneath the white towel, the curves of her back flowed elegantly.
Light brown curls cascaded down, the ends brushing lightly against the shoulders of the person lying face down, lips parting slightly.
“Taotao, how do I feel?”
Mi Tao took a deep breath, her waist and legs nearly melting.
The prone position limited her view, but from the corner of her eye, she caught glimpses of Liang Yuan’s calves and sleek black stilettos.
“Mmm. Sister Liang Yuan is amazing.”
Another perfectly measured press landed on the small of her back.
Oil-slicked hands worked skillfully over delicate skin.
Liang Yuan smirked and continued, “Is this your first time trying TCM massage? Feels good, doesn’t it?”
“Mm, yes.”
Liang Yuan leaned closer, her lips near Mi Tao’s flushed earlobe. “Want to learn how to locate acupoints? It’ll make the massage even more enjoyable.”
“Ah!”
Mi Tao bit her lower lip lightly, cheeks burning.
Thank goodness she was face down on the massage table Sister Liang Yuan couldn’t see.
Couldn’t see, couldn’t see.
The dim little room was filled with the sweet, fizzy scent of orange soda, omega pheromones.
Rumeng Private Room.
“What other jobs have I done? Did I undergo elite physical training? Duniang Wiki says I’m a famous photographer, yet you keep digging, what, conducting an omega census?”
Jiang Yining’s voice.
“It’s concern, pure concern. I’m an alpha guest, you’re an omega guest. Is it unreasonable for me to want to know you better?”
Cheng Xiaoming’s voice.
Wen Huiyun and Ye Zhuoyan sat in the water like two bewildered ducklings.
Wen Huiyun peeled grapes for Ye Zhuoyan, while Ye Zhuoyan carved apple bunnies for Wen Huiyun.
Apart from quietly eating their fruit, they didn’t know how to avoid the silent tension between those two in this crowded “four-flavored hot spring pool.”
Actually, the atmosphere had been quite balanced earlier, with the four of them chatting casually.
Then suddenly, Ye Zhuoyan asked: “Ming Jie, are you here to find an alpha?”
Cheng Xiaoming quickly clarified: “I’m looking for Jiang Yining.”
And that’s when the atmosphere started taking a strange turn.
The silent tension continued.
Jiang Yining: “Oh! Getting to know me deeply, are we? Cheng Da Alpha, are you trying to chase me, hmm?”
Cheng Xiaoming: “Do you even realize how ridiculous what you just said sounds?”
Jiang Yining crossed her legs, propping her chin with a fingertip, smiling: “So you’re just embarrassed that your supposedly superior swimming skills lost to an omega?”
Cheng Xiaoming’s lips pressed into a tight line her silence spoke louder than words.
“If you can’t accept it, let’s have a one-on-one rematch!”
Jiang Yining stood up, water cascading off her body. “But we’ll make it more exciting, let’s go to the wave pool.” She crooked a finger.
Wen Huiyun and Ye Zhuoyan thought they could finally catch a break, but Cheng Xiaoming called out to them: “Come be our referees.”
Waves crashed one after another in the wave pool, splashing against the shore.
Jiang Yining picked out a dolphin-shaped float and tossed Cheng Xiaoming an orca one.
Pointing across the pool, Jiang Yining declared: “We’ll dive in from opposite ends and compete in floating against the current. Whoever lasts the longest wins. This tests stamina and endurance way more than a simple speed race.”
Cheng Xiaoming scoffed: “Piece of cake!”
Wen Huiyun and Ye Zhuoyan sat on nearby beach chairs.
“Zhuoyan, want some coconut water? I just opened one.”
“Zhuoyan, want grilled squid? I’ll go buy some.”
“Zhuoyan, how about a yogurt smoothie? Homemade, low-fat.”
“Zhuoyan!”
Ye Zhuoyan popped a cherry tomato into Wen Huiyun’s mouth, which she obediently enclosed with her lips.
Smiling, Ye Zhuoyan used her fingertip to gently push the tomato further in. Wen Huiyun struggled to keep it in, glistening drool seeping from the corners of her mouth. “Mmph…”
Ye Zhuoyan wiped her lips tenderly. “Huiyun, thank you. Let me feed you too.” Leaning closer, she lowered her voice: “But if you dare breathe a word about what happened in the shower room…”
Wen Huiyun swallowed with difficulty, mumbling: “I’d never tell. It’s our secret.”
Nodding, Ye Zhuoyan handed her a glass of lemon water. “Here, don’t choke.”
As Wen Huiyun drank to calm herself, she stole glances at Ye Zhuoyan, who was now watching the wave pool competition.
Propping her chin, Wen Huiyun wondered if Cheng Xiaoming and Jiang Yining weren’t here, would Ye Zhuoyan have come to find her in the private room?
How nice it would be if they were alone together, soaking in the hot springs with her wife. So warm.
Suddenly remembering the shower room scene, steam swirling, hot water raining down, Ye Zhuoyan’s arms around her waist, gazing up with dewy eyes, lashes beaded with moisture, lips slightly parted.
Her heartbeat quickened, and Wen Huiyun hastily shook off the thoughts.
Ye Zhuoyan said: “Liang Jie and Taotao are here.”
Liang Yuan and Mi Tao walked over hand in hand from the spa center.
Mi Tao waved enthusiastically: “Hey! Where are Ming Jie and Yining Jie?”
Wen Huiyun pointed toward the wave pool: “Over there!”
Boom! Crash!
A massive super wave surged from the wave pool, sweeping the two competitors underwater before rolling them toward the beach.
Jiang Yining flailed in the water: “Where’s my dolphin?”
Liang Yuan and Mi Tao stared in shock as Cheng Xiaoming floated by on an orca ring, with Jiang Yining perched on his shoulders.
As for Jiang Yining’s dolphin…
“Wen Huiyun!”
Ye Zhuoyan’s pupils contracted as she reached out to touch Wen Huiyun’s face.
“Are you okay?”
Wen Huiyun had just been struck in the head by the dolphin ring flung by the powerful wave. Her body swayed before collapsing onto the sand.
“Wake up, Wen Huiyun!!!”
