- Chapter 13 - Cheating
The camera captured a majestic river spanned by an antique-style covered bridge.
The director mused aloud, “Hey, weren’t we supposed to visit the guest’s love nest? Why are we by the river? The answer is coming right up~”
The audience was unimpressed:
【Fast forward.】
【What is this? Fire the host.】
The shot transitioned into the covered bridge, revealing a stone staircase. The camera followed the steps upward.
At the top was a narrow loft nestled within the bridge, flanked by quaint wooden windows on both sides. Opening them offered a serene view of the flowing water below, a truly picturesque scene.
A woman in a beige trench coat leaned against the railing, cradling a teacup as she admired the scenery.
The director approached with a mic. “Hello, Liang Yuan! You’re making great progress, you’ve already laid the flooring?”
Liang Yuan turned with a smile. “Hello, Director. It’s nothing special. The real challenge was reinforcing the beams, that took forever.”
The director encouraged her, “Not bad at all! Keep it up!”
Then came the question: “What style are you going for with your love nest? And which guest do you plan to invite?”
“The style will blend with the surroundings classic Chinese.”
Liang Yuan chuckled. Revealing her final pick this early? No way she’d fall for the director’s trap.
“As for the guest,” she continued, “she’s already in my heart.”
With that, she pressed a finger to her lips and whispered playfully to the camera, “Not telling~”
Next, the crew arrived at a villa complex in the city.
The complex wasn’t large, just a few rows of four-story townhouses, each divided into four units. Some villas had been further split, housing multiple families under one roof.
The director pushed open the gate of a lower-level townhouse. The yard was overgrown with weeds and littered with construction debris.
Suddenly, a cloud of dust erupted from a dilapidated tool shed.
“Cough!” The director covered her nose and mouth as she stepped inside. “Jiang Yining? Where are you?”
Inside, a staircase led down to a basement. There sat Jiang Yining in a tank top and work pants, her face smeared with grime, waving a hammer at the director.
“Over here! Perfect timing, come help me knock down this wall! Hahaha~”
The director replied, “You go ahead. I’ll leave you to it,” before hastily filming the basement’s rough state and making a quick exit.
Once clear of the dust, the director stood in the grass and narrated:
“Jiang Yining drew a challenging basement renovation. Let’s see how she handles it!”
【Jiang Yining is such a gremlin, I can’t!】
【Poor director, LOL!】
The next stop was the historic old city center, home to many decades-old unit-assigned apartments.
The camera panned to a tiny, boxy room no more than ten square meters tucked away in an alley.
This miniature dwelling was a single-occupancy unit in an old public housing building.
Mi Tao, dressed in youthful sportswear and a baseball cap, pouted as she complained to the director, “Yeah, it’s a headache. The space is so small, I have no idea where to put the bed.”
The director chuckled. “This is where your creativity shines!”
Then came the question: “Which guest would you like to invite to your love nest?”
Without hesitation, Mi Tao beamed and answered, “Of course, Sister Liang Yuan! She’s my favorite!”
The director laughed along with her, “I knew you’d pick her! Taotao is such a devoted girl, what’s longed for will eventually come true!”
The audience sighed:
【Such a predictable question.】
【But Liang Yuan is such a player! My poor Taotao!】
【Condolences.】
Today’s special interview came to an end.
Hmm? What about the other three guests?
Of course, they’ll be revealed in the next interview! Stay tuned for Love Nest Exclusive Interview: Exploring Love Den Part 2~~~
The audience grumbled:
【What’s this? Splitting one interview into two parts?】
【So sneaky! Keeping our Handsome Queen for part 2!】
The director smiled mysteriously, “Tonight, the production team has prepared a special segment for all our guests!”
“Make sure to tune in to Orange Video every Saturday at 8 PM for ‘Love and Nest 4’!”
In the alpha lounge’s small living room, Liang Yuan sat on the sofa while Wen Huiyun used the washing machine on the balcony.
Wen Huiyun hummed a tune while doing the dishes, and now she was humming again while doing laundry.
Liang Yuan, wearing glasses and looking at her laptop, asked, “Seems like things are going well between you and Ye Zhuoyan?”
Wen Huiyun’s heart swelled with joy, she loved hearing that. Of course they were! Ye Zhuoyan had held her hand, fed her medicine, cared for her, and even complimented her cooking these past few days.
Happy. Content. Thrilled.
Wen Huiyun guarded these precious moments with Ye Zhuoyan like treasures, keeping her “affections” hidden.
She sat beside Liang Yuan, “You and Mi Tao are doing even better.”
She accidentally glanced at Liang Yuan’s browsing screen and, seeing no attempt to hide it, leaned in for a closer look.
“The Lancet,” Wen Huiyun looked up, “An angel in white.”
Liang Yuan chuckled softly, teasing, “Maybe others are angels in white, but not me.”
“Why not?”
Liang Yuan sighed, “Ah, it’s complicated.”
Wen Huiyun picked up an apple from the coffee table and took a bite, “No worries. The director said there’s a special segment tonight probably a guest reveal.”
“Right,” Liang Yuan blinked, “But the people in the preview are all recognizable.”
“Yeah…”
Even Ye Zhuoyan’s identity was no mystery as a dancer and actress, her information was easily found online.
AI announcement: “All guests, please gather in the main living room for a special activity!”
The familiar circular sofa awaited, but the seating arrangement was vastly different from their first meeting.
Wen Huiyun sat slightly apart from Ye Zhuoyan, leaving a small gap between them. Liang Yuan sat in the middle, with Mi Tao and Jiang Yining on her left and right respectively. Cheng Xiaoming sat alone at the far edge of the sofa.
According to the original plot, Cheng Xiaoming should have shined brilliantly from the first Q&A segment, winning the female lead’s favor and the admiration of the other omega guests.
But after Wen Huiyun transmigrated into the story, the plot spiraled out of control, becoming completely unrecognizable.
The once-dominant, wealthy, and beautiful official alpha lead Cheng Xiaoming was now relegated to the sidelines.
Wen Huiyun felt a twinge of pity but no sympathy. Survival was everything. Blame the Transmigration Management Bureau!
The curtain dropped, and the projector lit up with the words “Guest Big Reveal.” Wen Huiyun smirked, just as she’d predicted.
After all, she was a woman who’d read half the “script.”
The AI announced the rules: “Guests may guess each other’s ages and professions. The person in question can give hints but cannot reveal the answer directly.”
The group exchanged glances, waiting for someone to speak first.
Jiang Yining eagerly squeezed into the center of the sofa, tugging at Mi Tao’s sleeve. “Let me guess first! Tao Tao, you must be the youngest. I’ll say… 18!”
Mi Tao giggled. “Hahaha, I wish I could be even younger! Nope, too low.”
Wen Huiyun chimed in, “22.”
Mi Tao’s cherry-like lips parted in surprise. “Wow! Huiyun-jie, you’re amazing!”
Wen Huiyun smiled modestly. Not amazing she had read it in the book. However, the other omega guest in the original novel wasn’t Jiang Yining. The plot had changed after transmigrating, so she didn’t know Jiang Yining’s details.
Mi Tao said, “Now it’s my turn to guess Huiyun-jie’s age. Hmm… 23?”
Wen Huiyun shook her head.
Mi Tao quickly added, “Give me a hint!”
Jiang Yining joined in, “Yeah, yeah! Is it higher or lower?”
Wen Huiyun’s mind buzzed with warmth as she gazed tenderly at Ye Zhuoyan beside her. “Zhuoyan knows.”
Mi Tao gasped dramatically. “Wow! You two are moving that fast?”
Jiang Yining teased, “The show rules say no sharing private info, are you cheating?”
Wen Huiyun remained unruffled. “We didn’t. She figured it out herself.”
Her eyes, soft as autumn ripples, lingered on that graceful figure draped in pristine white.
Everyone turned to Ye Zhuoyan. Jiang Yining scooted closer. “Zhuoyan, quick, how old is Wen Huiyun?”
Ye Zhuoyan, like a crane caught in sudden snowfall, seemed momentarily lost yet poised as ever.
“She…”
Her lips parted slightly as her gaze met Wen Huiyun’s, their tender stares intertwining.
