Everyone Loves the Villainous Scumbag [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 9
Luo Jianghe stopped in his tracks and looked behind him. Standing on the stairs, Fu Chen looked tall, his broad shoulders filling out the light-colored knit fabric of his clothes. He had one hand in his pocket while the other rubbed the back of his neck as he leisurely walked down the steps.
“I am going out for a bit,” Luo Jianghe said, not specifying whom he was going to see. After all, if he were to be honest, he was technically going to cuckold this second male lead.
“If you leave, I will be the only one left in the house,” Fu Chen said suddenly as he reached the ground floor and walked up to Luo Jianghe’s side.
“Mhm,” Luo Jianghe nodded. “Just stay here and relax.”
If no one was home, then no one was home. He was not a three-year-old child who needed a companion; surely he would not feel anxious being alone in the house?
“Is there something urgent you need to do? If you need it, I can help,” Fu Chen offered with uncharacteristic enthusiasm.
Luo Jianghe responded with uncharacteristic indifference, “It is not important. I do not need your help. You should rest well. Get plenty of sleep today so you can head home tomorrow, right? Even traveling by car will be tiring, so rest up.”
After saying that, Luo Jianghe prepared to head out. Seeing this, Fu Chen reached out and grabbed him firmly. Luo Jianghe was pulled inward so suddenly that he nearly crashed into Fu Chen’s chest.
“What are you doing?” Luo Jianghe looked at Fu Chen.
Fu Chen’s face remained calm, but his hand was clearly gripping Luo Jianghe tightly. His actions and facial expressions were a complete contradiction.
“It is cold outside. Add a scarf.”
Before Luo Jianghe could react, Fu Chen had already accurately picked out Luo Jianghe’s scarf from the rack and wrapped it around his neck. Fu Chen’s movements were gentle, and his gaze softened for a rare moment. For a split second, being wrapped up like that made Luo Jianghe feel a sense of security. He did not know if it came from Fu Chen’s tenderness or the snug feeling of the scarf, but it felt remarkably steady.
“How did you know this was my scarf?” he asked.
“I heard your mother mention it this morning. Your younger sister accidentally took the wrong scarf when she went out,” Fu Chen replied. After finishing with the scarf, his hands lingered on the edges, rubbing the fabric as if adjusting it to make sure Luo Jianghe was comfortable.
Fu Chen’s gaze remained fixed on Luo Jianghe, his warm fingers occasionally brushing against Luo Jianghe’s fair neck. Luo Jianghe tilted his head back and lowered his eyes, letting Fu Chen continue his ministrations. From Fu Chen’s perspective, he saw the boy’s light-colored hair, phoenix eyes that slanted slightly upward at the ends, pale skin, and red lips that resembled flower petals. The skin on the boy’s neck was warm, and Fu Chen occasionally brushed it with his fingertips as if by accident. That soft skin was almost addictive to him.
However, he could not sustain this movement for long. He knew Luo Jianghe was somewhat wary of him, so he did not dare to make any overt moves. Yet the boy was so lovely that he could not resist the urge to pull him into his arms.
Luo Jianghe felt that Fu Chen was taking far too long with the scarf. Getting a bit irritable from the wait, he reached out to push Fu Chen’s hands away and tugged at the scarf himself. Once the scarf was set, Fu Chen had no further reason to keep him there. Luo Jianghe managed to escape the living room. He found it strange that even though it was his own home, he felt the need to use a word like “escape” to describe his departure.
It had to be said that Fu Chen had been acting very strange over the past two days. He was always approaching him for no reason and then teasing him. Luo Jianghe felt as though he had developed Fu Chen Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; the moment he saw Fu Chen, he became somewhat timid. Those who knew better understood he did not want to be teased again, but those who did not might think he was a husband sneaking out to have an affair behind his wife’s back.
Standing in the Luo residence, Fu Chen watched Luo Jianghe’s hurried departure and knit his handsome brows. He could not quite understand Luo Jianghe now. Back when they were not close, Luo Jianghe would clearly take the initiative to greet him; even when faced with Fu Chen’s indifference, he could still offer warmth. But now, the situation between them was the exact opposite. The more enthusiastic he became, the more Luo Jianghe seemed to grow weary and want to distance himself.
While Fu Chen thought this, a faint blush gradually crept onto his face. He raised his slightly trembling hand to his mouth, covering his lips as if trying to restrain something, and his eyes grew hazy.
“Truly, he is too cute.”
Luo Jianghe, who had already left the house and was hailing a taxi by the roadside, had no idea about the strange behavior Fu Chen was exhibiting. He hailed a random car through an app. In this kind of weather, it was actually quite difficult to get a ride, but it was not as hard as he had imagined. After about half an hour, he finally secured a vehicle.
Once he confirmed the license plate, he quickly got in. The destination was the entrance of S High School. Seeing his student-like appearance, the driver curiously asked if he was still in school. Luo Jianghe simply answered no and said he had a temporary errand at the school, immediately adopting a posture that signaled he did not want to talk.
The driver was used to dealing with people and knew which customers liked to chat and which did not. Seeing Luo Jianghe’s attitude, he shut his mouth and focused solely on driving.
Tomorrow was New Year’s Eve. There were no students in the school, and the shops at the entrance were almost all closed, leaving only two local noodle shops still in business. Luo Jianghe stood under a streetlamp near the school and pulled out his phone to call Yu Wuyang. The call went through, but there was no response for a long time. It was not until the call disconnected automatically that the silence ended, but Luo Jianghe never heard Yu Wuyang’s voice. His handsome features frowned slightly, worrying that something might have happened to Yu Wuyang.
The school gates were tightly shut. He looked at the surrounding walls, wondering how he could climb over them without getting hurt. In his younger years, it was not as if he had never climbed a wall, but that was in the past. He had not climbed a school wall in nearly ten years and wondered if he still had his old skills.
Just as he was hesitating about whether to climb in, his phone rang. Luo Jianghe glanced at the screen and saw it was a return call from Yu Wuyang, so he quickly answered. The snow was still falling. Although Luo Jianghe was dressed warmly, the cold air he inhaled stung his throat. After the call connected, he coughed twice before speaking, “Hello? Wuyang.”
“Jianghe, what is the matter?” On the other end, Yu Wuyang had just finished washing up. He hung a towel over his head to dry his hair while carefully holding his phone to talk to Luo Jianghe.
Luo Jianghe rubbed his nose. “Nothing, I just wanted to say, since you did not want to go to your uncle’s house.”
“Why are you bringing that up again?” Yu Wuyang’s eyes darkened. He truly disliked this topic, but because it was Luo Jianghe who started it, he remained patient and did not get angry.
“No,” Luo Jianghe scratched his head. “What I mean is, for this year’s Spring Festival, do you want to be with me?”
The hand Yu Wuyang was using to dry his hair paused, and his heart could not help but tremble slightly at Luo Jianghe’s words. “What do you mean?” What did “together” mean? Was Luo Jianghe saying he wanted to spend the Spring Festival with him? How would they spend it? Where would they go?
“I mean, come to my house. Spend it with me.”
Hearing this, Yu Wuyang did not want to be disappointed, so he treated Luo Jianghe’s words as a joke. “Stop joking around.”
Luo Jianghe also felt that what he said was not very convincing. After all, no matter how good their relationship was, in the eyes of outsiders, they were just friends who had only been hanging out for a few months; they could not even be called brothers. From Luo Jianghe’s perspective, if a friend he had recently met suddenly invited him to their home for the Spring Festival, he would also think it was a joke.
Therefore, Luo Jianghe was not disappointed by Yu Wuyang’s response. He said sincerely, “I am not joking. I am at the school entrance right now. Do you want to come over? We can go home together.”
At the mention of the word “home,” Yu Wuyang could not help but bite his lip. He was also drawn to the key point in Luo Jianghe’s words, “You are at the school entrance right now?”
“Mhm. It is freezing,” Luo Jianghe switched the phone to his other hand and brought his chilled hand to his mouth, using the warmth of his breath to heat it. “Hurry up and come over. If you don’t come soon, I am really going to catch a cold.”
There was a long silence on the other end of the line before Yu Wuyang finally responded, “Go stand in a nearby shop first. I am coming to find you now.”
Yu Wuyang did not know how Luo Jianghe knew he had not gone home, and he did not ask. When someone understands and pays attention to a person like this, it means that Yu Wuyang is truly being kept in that person’s heart. By now, Yu Wuyang had no interest in overthinking whether his feelings for Luo Jianghe were the love of a romantic partner or pure friendship. He realized he had already fallen, and he had fallen completely. During these days spent alone at school, he had discovered this truth. He thought of Luo Jianghe several times every day; he thought of him by day and dreamed of him by night. Whether Luo Jianghe liked him back was no longer important, because even if he did not, Yu Wuyang could no longer pull himself out.
Luo Jianghe was wearing a short cotton jacket, casual pants, and thick-soled boots today, with a scarf wrapped entirely around his neck. Even in snowy weather, this outfit would not leave him cold. Standing by the streetlamp with his hands in his pockets, he occasionally exhaled. As the warmth left his body, it instantly turned into a cloud of white mist that dissipated into the air. Under the light, the boy who looked as white as snow had slightly moistened eyes and a nose turned red from the cold. He looked very delicate and a bit pitiful, making one feel protective of him.
Yu Wuyang jogged up to Luo Jianghe. His face was also bright red, though it was from the impact of the cold air; he himself was not cold because he had been moving. Luo Jianghe was a bit curious to see that he had not come out from inside the school.
“Are you living outside the school?” He had not asked the System if Yu Wuyang was still living on campus before coming, but now it seemed he had probably settled in a hostel near the school.
Looking at Yu Wuyang’s cheeks, which were flushed from running, Luo Jianghe reached out and pulled the scarf from his own neck, draping it over Yu Wuyang’s small head. The younger boy was shorter than him, and his damp eyes followed Luo Jianghe’s movements. His eyes, as large as grapes, stared at him intently, making it hard not to feel a surge of affection.
“Did you just wash your hair?” Luo Jianghe gently brushed over Yu Wuyang’s short strands of hair. “Why did you not dry it before coming out?”
Yu Wuyang nodded. Perhaps because he had run here in a hurry, his throat felt a bit dry. “I was afraid you would wait too long outside. Why did you not go stay in a nearby shop? You will catch a cold this way.”
Luo Jianghe did not answer his question. He simply rubbed Yu Wuyang’s head and said, “Alright, let us go. I am cold.”
