Everyone Loves the Villainous Scumbag [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 3
Luo Jianghe only slowly woke up after Yu Wuyang withdrew his hand.
He did not wake up because of Yu Wuyang’s bold behavior moments ago. Instead, while he was still dreaming, the system suddenly gave a notification sound.
[Attention! The target’s favorability and emotional index have reached 60%. You may now begin the “Scumbag and Cruelty” portion of the mission.]
017 was a “Scumbag System,” but to play the part of a jerk, one naturally had to make the target fall in love first. 60% was the passing line for favorability. However, if he wanted to harvest even more emotional points from the target, he would need to gain even more favor.
According to the system, he could only harvest emotional points once they surpassed the passing mark. During unstable periods, the points could drop if Luo Jianghe did something that ruined his reputation. To be safe, it was best to start harvesting emotions only when the favorability line was as high as possible.
Before today, Yu Wuyang’s favorability toward Luo Jianghe had barely reached 50%. Luo Jianghe was quite surprised. He had only taken a short nap, yet in his dreams, he had managed to make Yu Wuyang’s favorability reach the passing line.
In other words, did the current Yu Wuyang actually “like” him?
He was staring blankly at Yu Wuyang, who was standing by his bed, only to see Yu Wuyang say to him calmly, “You are awake? I was just about to call you.”
Yu Wuyang said only that before heading down the dormitory stairs in a few quick steps. Luo Jianghe sat up in bed and watched him turn the corner, feeling puzzled. He raised his hand and rubbed his chin.
“System, what did Yu Wuyang do to me while I was sleeping?”
[He was struck by how handsome you are.]
Luo Jianghe received his answer. He nodded, affirming the response.
“Indeed. I was born beautiful, so there is no helping it.”
But if this continued, how was he supposed to “scumbag” Yu Wuyang? According to the plot, he had to find a way to let many people, or at least someone like the school gossip, know that Yu Wuyang was gay. Furthermore, he had to ruin Yu Wuyang’s reputation. This was truly a difficult task for him.
The naturally gifted Luo Jianghe got out of bed, threw on his jacket, and followed Yu Wuyang out of the dormitory. There was still plenty of time, so they did not walk fast. They walked side by side toward the classroom, chatting as they went.
As they talked, Yu Wuyang seemed a bit cold and exhaled a breath of hot air onto his hands. Luo Jianghe glanced over by chance and noticed a crucial detail.
“How did you cut your hand again?” he asked, reaching out to grab Yu Wuyang’s hand to inspect it.
Upon hearing the question, Yu Wuyang immediately pulled his hand back. However, one can hide the hand but not the person. Yu Wuyang could not escape and was ultimately caught by the arm as Luo Jianghe lifted it up.
Seeing the bloodstains on Yu Wuyang’s hand that had not yet dried, Luo Jianghe frowned. “Have you been picking at your skin again?”
Yu Wuyang opened his mouth to explain but did not know what excuse to use. The injury was already there. If he claimed it was an accident, Luo Jianghe likely would not believe him.
Luo Jianghe looked at Yu Wuyang, who had simply given up on explaining, and shook his head helplessly. Ever since the last time Yu Wuyang had picked his hand raw, Luo Jianghe had kept Band-Aids in his pocket.
He reached into his school uniform pocket, pulled out a Band-Aid, and clicked his tongue. While applying it for Yu Wuyang, he asked, “Is it that you do not want to go back to your uncle’s house to live?”
Not many people knew that Yu Wuyang’s parents had both passed away. Only his desk mate and a few roommates were aware. Their teacher had specifically pulled them aside to instruct them to be careful with their words and not to insult his parents during heated arguments.
Yu Wuyang fell silent at the question. Having lost both parents at eighteen, he was extremely sensitive. Because the person in front of him was Luo Jianghe, his sensitivity was compounded by a sense of inferiority. Yet, he did not want to lie to Luo Jianghe. Therefore, he could only hang his head and watch Luo Jianghe’s hand carefully apply the Band-Aid, unable to speak.
The Band-Aid reminded him of his deceased parents. He was an only child. Even though his family was not wealthy, he had grown up pampered by his parents. When he was young, his parents would worry over every bump or scrape. Before the accident, every time he was injured, his mother would be just like this, caring for him and feeling distressed while applying a bandage.
Since his parents passed away, it had been a long time since anyone had cared for him this way. Although teachers and other roommates paid extra attention to him, Yu Wuyang knew they were different from Luo Jianghe. Luo Jianghe truly kept him in his heart.
Thinking of this, Yu Wuyang’s eyes grew red. It felt as though something was sprouting in his heart. He seemed to have fallen for Luo Jianghe. In truth, it was unlikely that anyone would not fall for someone as wonderful as Luo Jianghe.
Luo Jianghe cherished him and cared for him so much. Was it possible that Luo Jianghe also liked him just a little bit?
“No. My uncle and his family are quite good.” In front of such a person, Yu Wuyang’s inferiority had nowhere to hide. He told a lie, hoping it would prevent Luo Jianghe from pitying him too much. He wanted Luo Jianghe’s affection, but if that affection started with pity, how could it ever end well?
Seeing that Yu Wuyang refused to tell the truth, Luo Jianghe looked up at the young man. Yu Wuyang dressed very thinly even in winter. He was already lean, and looking at him now made one feel even more protective. Fortunately, the dorms and classrooms were air-conditioned, so it was only the walk back and forth that was cold.
A young man has his pride. Luo Jianghe, who had been an adult for a long time, understood this well. He pretended not to see Yu Wuyang’s disheveled state and nodded gently. The conversation ended there, and the path to the classroom was silent.
The afternoon was packed with classes. During the third year of high school, many courses were held back-to-back. It seemed the physical education and music teachers were perpetually “sick” and unable to hold class.
After a whole afternoon of lessons, Luo Jianghe felt his brain becoming foggy. His face was flushed from the heat of the classroom, and he desperately needed to cool his head. After eating dinner with Yu Wuyang, the walk back finally caused the redness on his face to fade.
There was a bit more time in the evening, but Luo Jianghe did not want to put in the effort to walk back to the dorm. Instead, he and Yu Wuyang rested in the classroom, chatting occasionally. A few energetic boys in the class took a basketball to the playground. Since the high school did not mandate that students live on campus, most students went home for dinner.
After the basketball players left, only Luo Jianghe and Yu Wuyang remained in the classroom. Luo Jianghe grew tired of talking and leaned on the desk to catch up on sleep. Yu Wuyang placed an English book on Luo Jianghe’s desk while he sat opposite him, folding paper. He was multitasking; if he stayed focused, he could review a unit of English vocabulary during this time.
The classroom was quiet. Because people were present, the air conditioning remained on. The students had pooled their money to buy the unit, so they used it however they pleased. Since it was their senior year, no one was trying to save money on comfort.
Luo Jianghe felt very sleepy after eating, but when he closed his eyes, he could not fall asleep. Perhaps because he had napped at noon, it was too early to sleep now. Thus, he remained leaning on the desk, turning his face to watch Yu Wuyang’s hands moving in front of him.
He could not say the hands were moving randomly, as folding paper requires a pattern. However, Luo Jianghe was not in the mood to look for patterns or notice how the paper was being folded. He simply noticed that Yu Wuyang’s hands were very slender and his knuckles were well-defined. In the language of novels, they looked like a woman’s hands.
The fact that the system chose Luo Jianghe suggested that he was not entirely “straight.” Luo Jianghe had been in relationships before, but he had never felt that a man could make him feel love or interest, so he never thought he could like men.
However, regarding the gender of his partner or how the outside world viewed him, Luo Jianghe never cared. He did not consider societal norms at all. In his eyes, love was pure; when you like someone, you should not think too much.
Luo Jianghe was good-looking, so naturally, girls confessed to him, and men did as well. He was not surprised by the idea of men liking men. Yet, perhaps because he viewed love so purely, he actually had very little relationship experience despite his looks. The few relationships he had were not long-lasting. According to his ex-partners, he easily made people feel insecure. Gradually, he felt as though he was losing faith in love.
Regardless, his face was popular everywhere. After all, first impressions are vital to many. Luo Jianghe did not fit the traditional “feminine” stereotype, but he was not a “tough guy” either. His beauty was direct, and his gender was clear. When he was silent, he was cool and handsome; when he smiled brightly, he made hearts flutter. One could say he was dashing without being aggressive.
Luo Jianghe had heard it said that beauty alone is a dead end, but beauty paired with any other “card” is a winning hand. Luo Jianghe did not have a prominent family background or absolute talent. He lived an ordinary life, but he indeed used his looks to advance. His path was much easier than others with the same conditions.
He thought he must have other cards. For example, he possessed a high level of emotional intelligence, which likely counted as a card. Despite being a man, he had encountered harassment from both men and women in the workplace, but he had always been able to resolve those situations well. How could that not be considered a talent?
Perhaps the system saw this in him and chose him as a host. He was not someone who only had looks. Clearing the thoughts from his mind, Luo Jianghe reached out and grabbed Yu Wuyang’s hand as it moved before his eyes.
Caught by the hand, Yu Wuyang not only stopped his folding but his entire expression became one of utter confusion.
