Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 102
Yu’s mother asked, “What movie did you two film together before? When is it scheduled for release?”
Ning Xi replied, “It’s called ‘Asking the Demon.’ Director Jiang said it will be released on March 14th, Valentine’s Day.”
“I never heard Qingxue mention it to me. She has such a beautiful and eloquent friend like you, you must come visit often in the future.” Yu’s mother held Ning Xi’s hand, reluctant to let go.
Ning Xi smiled warmly. “Of course, as long as you don’t mind me, I’ll definitely drop by whenever I have time.”
Yu’s mother looked Ning Xi up and down, even giving her shoulders a light squeeze. “Such a great figure, you must be at least 178 cm tall… Are you an alpha?”
After circling around the topic, Yu’s mother finally asked the question she most wanted to know.
Ning Xi nodded in confirmation. “Yes, I’m an alpha.”
Yu’s mother’s smile grew even more affectionate. “How old are you? Are you seeing anyone?”
“Auntie, I’m twenty-one, currently a sophomore in the acting department at Beihua Academy.” Ning Xi sidestepped the question about her relationship status.
With Yu Qingxue not around, she didn’t dare reveal their relationship. If Yu’s mother really went ahead and bought up all the subway billboards, there’d be no one to stop her.
Upon hearing Ning Xi’s age, Yu’s mother loosened her grip slightly. “Twenty-one? So young. To be filming with Qingxue at this age, your future is limitless. I wish you global fame ahead.”
Ning Xi remained unfazed, her smile unwavering. “Though I’m young, I’m mature for my age. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have become friends with Qingxue. We’re very comfortable around each other, you can see I call her by her name directly, not ‘sister.'”
Yu’s mother’s dimmed hopes instantly reignited. “Yes, yes! Age isn’t an issue. As long as hearts align… and maturity matches, friendship can blossom.”
She sighed and patted Ning Xi’s hand. “You don’t know how much I’ve worried over Qingxue’s future. No matter how much I push, she only ever says one thing, ‘Haven’t met the right person, won’t marry.’ I know the right one is hard to find, but she should at least date a few people to figure it out! Yet she refuses every single one. The accomplished alphas I introduce? One glance and she says no, they don’t fit her taste. I’ve always suspected she already has someone, which is why she rejects everyone else.”
“Ning Xi, since you and Qingxue are close, could you keep an eye out for me? See if there’s any alpha around her age she’s been getting close to lately. That girl never takes initiative, who knows when she’ll ever settle down? I have to help her along.”
Ning Xi agreed readily. “Don’t worry, Auntie. I’ll keep an eye out for you.”
Yu’s mother beamed, inwardly triumphant: Watching leads to falling. My precious daughter’s charm is undeniablemjust wait till Ning Xi falls for Qingxue.
Feeling she’d made a major contribution to her daughter’s love life, Yu’s mother began sharing childhood anecdotes about Yu Qingxue, determined to show Ning Xi that beneath her cool exterior lay a kind, gentle, and soft-hearted omega.
……
After a gathering with friends, Yu Qingxue was driven back to the villa by her chauffeur. She stood at the door, ringing the bell.
This time, Sister Zhang answered unusually quickly.
The door opened, and Sister Zhang grabbed Yu Qingxue’s arm, saying, “Qingxue, your mother is here!”
Yu Qingxue was slightly tipsy, her brows and eyes exuding a lazy indifference. “So what if she’s here? Why are you in such a hurry, Sister Zhang?”
“Qingxue, your mother is your mom!” Sister Zhang whispered urgently.
“My mom?” At the word “mom,” it was as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over Yu Qingxue, instantly sobering her foggy mind.
“Sister Zhang, why did my mom come so suddenly? What time did she arrive? How did she get along with Ning Xi? What did they talk about?”
Sister Zhang replied, “She arrived shortly after you left, saying she wanted to see you and even planned to stay the night. She and Ning Xi got along wonderfully they chatted for over two hours, and your mother couldn’t stop smiling.”
“Did my mom figure out Ning Xi is my girlfriend?” Yu Qingxue asked.
“Doesn’t seem like it. In fact, your mother seemed quite eager for Ning Xi to be your girlfriend. She spent ages sharing stories from your childhood they really hit it off.”
Childhood stories…
Yu Qingxue immediately felt a headache coming on.
Sister Zhang and Yu Qingxue entered the living room one after the other. Yu’s mother was still engrossed in conversation with Ning Xi, so much so that she didn’t even notice Yu Qingxue’s return.
Ning Xi quickly glanced up and smiled at Yu Qingxue, who secretly blew her a kiss in return.
“Mom, your precious daughter is back, and you didn’t even notice? Has Ning Xi already replaced me as your favorite daughter in just a few hours?”
Yu Qingxue hugged her mother’s arm and sat down beside her.
The first thing Yu’s mother did upon seeing her daughter was pull Yu Qingxue from her left side to her right. “Of course I noticed you. Honestly, you’re so irresponsible, leaving Ning Xi alone to go to a party. I had to keep her company for hours!”
Then, turning to Ning Xi with a smile, she added, “But Ning Xi really is lovely. I wouldn’t mind having her as a daughter.”
With that subtle hint, Yu’s mother stood up. “You two chat. At my age, I need to rest early.”
She made to head upstairs, but Sister Zhang quickly stopped her. “Madam, I’ve already prepared the guest room downstairs for you.”
Yu’s mother frowned. “Why not the one upstairs?”
Sister Zhang stammered, “I… I…”
How could she explain this?
She looked to Yu Qingxue for help.
Yu Qingxue answered smoothly, “Mom, Ning Xi is staying in the upstairs guest room. We’re working on a show together and need to rehearse scripts. It’s more convenient for her to be upstairs.”
Yu’s mother looked skeptical. “And downstairs isn’t convenient?”
“Sister Zhang’s cooking is noisy. We need a quiet environment,” Yu Qingxue said without batting an eye.
Her explanation was full of holes, but Yu’s mother wasn’t easily fooled. Yet, she couldn’t detect anything amiss from Yu Qingxue and Ning Xi’s expressions.
Their nonchalance was so convincing that she didn’t know how to press further.
“Is that so?” Yu’s mother eyed the two sitting together, looking perfectly matched.
“Yes, Madam! I make them midnight snacks while they work, they’re very diligent,” Sister Zhang chimed in, finally dispelling Yu’s mother’s doubts.
Once her mother had left, Yu Qingxue exhaled in relief and leaned limply against Ning Xi. “You’ve had a long night. I had no idea my mom would show up.”
Ning Xi lifted a hand, her fingertips brushing Yu Qingxue’s slightly flushed cheek. “It wasn’t hard. Talking with your mother was enjoyable. She told me a lot about your childhood.”
Yu Qingxue tensed and sat up straight. “What exactly did you hear?”
She was a little troublemaker growing up, using her beauty to get away with mischief. She’d lead a gang of kids who were smitten by her looks into all sorts of trouble, and when caught, they’d all scramble to take the blame for her.
Ning Xi lightly flicked Yu Qingxue’s delicate earlobe. “Like in first grade, when you convinced the whole class to turn the dictation homework into drawing turtles. The parents thought something was off and checked with each other, only to find out it was true. Each of you drew five pages of turtles, and the teacher, faced with over forty assignments filled with turtle drawings, was so furious she nearly had a meltdown. She called a class meeting to find the culprit, even getting the principal involved. But all the students insisted the teacher had assigned the turtle drawings. The principal reprimanded her on the spot, and under pressure from all the parents, she was replaced.”
“What did that teacher do to upset Qingxue? Tell me about it.”
Ning Xi’s voice was low, sending a shiver down Yu Qingxue’s spine.
Yu Qingxue clung to Ning Xi’s arm and said, “He called our whole class useless. Even first graders have pride, we couldn’t just take his insults. So I came up with the idea with Wang You and Jiang Yuanxin. None of the other parents caught on, but my mom figured it out the moment she got home. Still, she was fair about it. Once she knew why, she didn’t punish me. She even told me that if something like this happened again, I should just tell her, she had better ways to deal with the teacher.”
“Your mom sounds amazing,” Ning Xi said, a hint of envy in her voice.
Yu Qingxue ruffled Ning Xi’s long hair. “She’ll be your mom too from now on. She adores you, she’ll treat you just as well as she treats me.”
…
The next morning, Ning Xi woke up early to find Yu’s mother already in the living room, watching the morning news with Zhang Jie.
“Good morning, Auntie, Zhang Jie,” Ning Xi greeted them warmly, her smile as comforting as winter sunlight.
Yu’s mother immediately glanced behind her. “Qingxue isn’t up yet?”
After a whole night, she still had her doubts about their relationship. But with Zhang Jie covering for them, she couldn’t find any proof.
