Even If You're My Senior, It's Still Forbidden - Chapter 64
【It should have been settled long ago.】
“I always feel like you’ve forgotten something.”
【Not me, but us.】
Forgotten what?
No one could recall exactly what had been forgotten, but they had to press on subduing the demonic energy was what mattered most.
【Stop thinking about it. Let’s begin.】
Using blood as the formation, she drew the demonic energy into her body.
The demonic energy began to converge into Ji Weining’s form, gradually breaking apart and being purified within her.
“Luckily, no one knows my blood has such miraculous effects, or I’d have been done for long ago.” Ji Weining was well aware of what they would do to her, and could only sigh in resignation.
【Get ready. It’s starting.】
“The demonic energy inside her is truly abundant.”
【Next time, you won’t be able to handle it all at once. Her body is special and can withstand the demonic energy.】
“You weren’t like this before, always talking about ‘next time.'” Ji Weining pouted as she spoke to her.
【I’m not the same as I used to be, either.】
As a deity, she needed to know more, to consider not just one person but everyone. She could no longer afford to be selfish; she had to face all beings and make the fairest judgments.
“Fine, next time then.” Ji Weining clutched her chest. Dissipating so much demonic energy at once was indeed too much for her body to bear, especially since it was no longer her original spiritual form.
“Has the Chief Deity really not sent any other deities to help?”
More and more demonic energy was pouring in from all directions. The demonic abyss held the bulk of it, but there was still much elsewhere that she couldn’t handle all at once.
【Don’t you already know?】
Yes, she knew. It seemed they had been abandoned by the Chief Deity.
“Perhaps they want us to find our own solution,” Ji Weining said.
【Maybe.】
She could only hold onto that hope as she pondered the matter.
【Perhaps the Chief Deity left a way to resolve all this from the very beginning of creation.】
“Then what do you think that method is?” Ji Weining asked her.
No answer came for a long while.
Ji Weining lifted the young girl from the wooden tub.
She slept peacefully, without a trace of guard against her. Ji Weining had promised to cleanse the demonic energy from her.
【Once everything is over, you could leave your blood for her. But it would likely have to be heart’s blood.】
She answered her question seriously.
【Heart’s blood is excruciatingly painful.】
She reminded her again, gazing at the young girl through her eyes. The demonic energy truly shouldn’t be her burden to bear.
“I promised her. When it’s over, I’ll leave something behind.” Ji Weining could only think this way perhaps it was the best solution.
【As long as you’ve decided.】
The young girl’s body was soft, pressed against her chest as Ji Weining held her. She helped her into fresh clothes.
Only when dressed beautifully could her true appearance be seen. Ji Weining’s hand stealthily brushed against her cheek, her fingertips tracing the contours of her face. So lovely.
No matter how she looked at her, Ji Weining found her beautiful.
“Beautiful.” The words slipped out unfiltered, the most heartfelt praise. Beautiful.
Simple and pure that was her assessment of her.
“So, it’s not good-looking?” Jin’an opened her eyes, paused for a moment, then slipped out of her embrace. Finally, she lowered her gaze and touched the new dress Ji Weining had changed her into.
“Hmm so it was the dust on your face that hid you.” It had kept her from seeing her true appearance, and with her hair hanging loose, she couldn’t clearly make out her features either.
“So, that’s how it is.” Jin’an accepted her words but still felt a lingering sense of doubt.
“Our Jin’an is beautiful no matter what she looks like.”
“Our?” Jin’an lifted her head to ask. In her past life, there had been no concept of “our.” She had been alone, with no attachments, no one to rely on.
She didn’t know what “our” meant.
She only remembered a group of beings who called themselves “us” and had once tried to take her life.
They didn’t want her to survive, or perhaps they saw her as evil. She never knew she could have an “us.”
“Yes, from now on, it’s us me, our master, your junior sister, and many senior sisters. Together, we make ‘us,’ and we all think this way. If anyone disagrees, I’ll twist them into a twisty snack.”
“Twist them into a twisty snack.” Jin’an looked at her loose hair, curling a strand around her fingernail. The hair wrapped around her index finger as she glanced at Ji Weining. “Like this?”
“A twisty snack.”
What she pictured was a braid.
“Ahem, of course.”
A person, twisted into a twisty snack? Coiled round and round, Jin’an imagined the sight and couldn’t help covering her mouth as she laughed, her breaths growing noticeably louder.
Ji Weining didn’t understand why she was laughing like this. She had never seen her laugh so freely before. Poking her shoulder, she asked, “Is it that funny?”
Jin’an bent over, her back curving. “Yes, it really is very funny.”
“Alright, take it easy.” Ji Weining patted her back, worried she might laugh herself breathless. After all, she had once seen someone laugh themselves to death.
“Here, this is for you.” As she spoke, Ji Weining took out a bell hanging from her waist and introduced it: “This is the Clear Mystical Bell, my life-bound magical treasure. You know what a life-bound treasure is, right? It’s connected to my life and death.”
Jin’an’s hand, reaching out to take the treasure, hesitated slightly. She was unsure whether she should accept it.
“Take it.”
Ji Weining didn’t give her time to react and directly stuffed it into her arms. “What’s mine is yours.”
“This is to protect your life. As long as you aren’t yet capable of protecting yourself, you can use it to keep yourself safe. If anyone bullies you, it will also help you fight back.”
“Protect my life?”
“Yes.”
Ji Weining thought for a moment and then demonstrated it for her. In Jin’an’s eyes, her expression began to change, she wanted this item now.
“Okay.” Jin’an tucked the bell into her sleeve.
“What happens if the bell breaks?”
Ji Weining pondered before replying, “I’ll lose a bit of the spiritual power inside me.”
For her current self, it was negligible. Even half her spiritual power would be enough to dominate here. However, she still needed to complete her mission to deal with the Demon Cave. Either eradicate it entirely or reforging the seal properly. Neither task was easy, so she still required a great deal of spiritual power.
At the thought, Ji Weining’s brows furrowed.
Hearing this, Jin’an found it a bit hard to believe. “A little less?”
“Don’t I still have this flute?” Ji Weining pulled out the flute that had carried her earlier.
“This flute?”
“I just picked it up casually from Qingheng Mountain, it felt handy.” Ji Weining twirled it deftly with her fingertips to demonstrate its usefulness, then added, “It can fly and carry people.”
“Can’t the bell do that?” Jin’an asked, her fingers tracing the edge of the bell hidden in her sleeve.
“I can’t bear to use the bell. It feels like it must be very important to me, but I’ve forgotten how I got it.” Ji Weining smiled helplessly. She truly couldn’t remember the bell’s origin. From what she recalled, she was the only one in the divine realm, and she had no memory of where the bell came from. Made from divine materials, the bell held immense power in the mortal world, making it inconvenient to use. Because of this, she rarely brought it out, reserving it only for major demons and monsters. If not for such threats, she wouldn’t have used it at all.
Ji Weining continued, “I only use the bell for large-scale demonic entities, like those from the demon caves. But the sect doesn’t send me to handle demon caves that often usually only a few times over several years.”
Jin’an asked, “Demon caves?”
Was Jin’an unaware? Ji Weining didn’t voice the question aloud but explained, “There are four major demon caves in the world east, south, west, and north. The southern one is near Qingheng Mountain.”
“Actually, there’s another, the largest demon cave, located in the imperial city. But the people there have kept it tightly under wraps, so we didn’t know about it until recently.”
Jin’an’s expression shifted slightly at the mention of the imperial city. “The imperial city?”
“Is it the Eastern family?” Jin’an lifted her gaze to meet Ji Weining’s eyes.
“Yes, the Eastern clan.”
“They have served as the royal family for generations, simultaneously guarding the demon cave. To claim the throne, one must have the blood of the Huangfu lineage; otherwise, the heavenly principles won’t acknowledge it. That’s why the Huangfu family has remained securely in power.”
Jin’an seemed to understand and nodded faintly. “I see.”
Yet she showed little interest, as demonic energy meant nothing significant to her.
“Let me check the demonic energy within you again.”
“Alright.” Jin’an extended her hand and began to loosen the edge of her garment.
“No, no we need to go somewhere else.”
Ji Weining took Jin’an’s hand and led her to her own residence. “I haven’t really decorated the Thousand Spirit Abode, and I don’t usually entertain guests. The room isn’t tidied up yet. Would you mind sharing a room with me for tonight?”
“Alright.” Seeing how late it was, Jin’an had no objections.
Jin’an glanced around as Ji Weining pushed open the door to her room and guided her inside. “Do you usually live here?”
“No, I usually travel around.” Having finally come to the mortal world, she was determined to explore its scenery thoroughly and had no need to stay in one place.
“Jin’an, give me your hand.”
Jin’an stretched out her hand, palm open, waiting for Ji Weining’s next move.
Ji Weining asked, “May I use spiritual energy to examine your body?”
“Of course.” Jin’an agreed without hesitation.
Ji Weining also extended her hand, and in an instant, spiritual energy flowed from her body into Jin’an’s.
Jin’an keenly sensed this power. It seemed to be contending with the demonic energy within her, leaving a swollen and stifling sensation lingering in her body.
Was this the spiritual energy Ji Weining had mentioned? It appeared to share some similarities with the demonic energy inside her.
Jin’an obediently accepted her spiritual energy. As it coursed through her meridians, she felt a strange sensation, difficult to describe. Without a word, she held Su Jin’an’s hand.
Ji Weining gradually slowed the flow of spiritual energy entering her. The amount of demonic energy was beyond her expectations, she hadn’t anticipated so much remaining even after dispelling some. Perhaps she truly needed to consider combining Jin’an’s blood with Mu Chanjuan’s medicine.
“Jin’an?” Ji Weining called out as she noticed her discomfort.
“It’s a bit strange?” Jin’an struggled to articulate the feeling but continued to endure it.
Ji Weining severed the barrier of spiritual energy, and Jin’an’s previously rigid body relaxed abruptly. Ji Weining steadied her shoulders to prevent her from collapsing. “Jin’an.”
After a moment to collect herself, Jin’an asked, “How is my body?”
“The demonic energy is more severe than I imagined.”
Traces of demonic energy permeated her entire body. Ji Weining didn’t know how to describe it to Jin’an, but she knew it was serious if released, it would undoubtedly cause immense harm.
“Are you worried about me?” Jin’an asked, noticing her furrowed brow.
Ji Weining admitted frankly, “Yes.”
She felt somewhat helpless, unsure how to handle the situation. If she were still a deity, she might have had a solution, but as a mortal now, bound by the laws of nature, she was powerless.
“I’m truly at a loss for how to deal with the demonic energy within my junior sister.”
For someone with so much demonic energy inside her to still be alive, and for Ji Weining to witness it, her body completely depleted yet still functioning by mortal standards, she should no longer exist.
Ji Weining asked again, “Jin’an, what methods do you think we could use to address this?”
“Why are you asking me?” Jin’an raised an eyebrow.
Ji Weining replied, “I want to hear your thoughts.”
She knew Jin’an had considerable knowledge of demonic energy. She wanted to understand what kind of person Jin’an was, to learn about her past, right here and now.
