- Chapter 57 - Are You Happy Tonight, Junior Sister?
“Does it feel good?”
Su Jin’an didn’t speak, but the sensation of Ji Weining’s tongue told her that she felt very good, that she liked it very much.
After who knows how long, Su Jin’an’s voice grew so hoarse she couldn’t even form words.
Finally, Ji Weining picked her up and placed her in water to clean her. After washing, Su Jin’an leaned against her shoulder as she carried her back to the room.
As soon as she touched the soft bed, Su Jin’an relaxed completely. Ji Weining pressed close to her ear and asked, “Are you happy tonight, Junior Sister?”
Her heart still held some hesitation as she straightened Su Jin’an’s clothes and wrapped her arms around her waist, gently touching the slightly injured areas.
“Happy.” Su Jin’an was already so sleepy she couldn’t keep her eyes open. All she knew was that having her senior sister by her side brought peace to her heart.
Ji Weining moved closer to her ear, sharing the pillow with her. “Sleep well now.”
“Mhm.” Su Jin’an could only respond with a mosquito-like murmur.
Seeing that she had fallen into deep sleep, Ji Weining tossed and turned for a long time without any desire to sleep. She opened Su Jin’an’s clothes to check her wounds, where a few marks remained from their earlier intimacy.
Taking advantage of her deep slumber, she applied another layer of medicine to the injuries.
The scars from the wounds made her heart ache just looking at them.
The night was most suitable for contemplation. She drew a dagger from her sleeve and sliced her own palm. Blood immediately began to flow downward, dripping onto Su Jin’an’s wounds.
Besides those romantic novels, Ji Weining usually spent most of her time studying these peculiar and obscure spells.
“With my blood, I take your pain.”
A formation drawn with Ji Weining’s blood materialized above Su Jin’an’s abdomen.
“Complete.” Ji Weining closed her eyes, channeling spiritual power into it. When she opened them again, the curse technique had already entered Su Jin’an’s body, merging with her.
The moment it completed, Ji Weining clutched her chest.
Her heart was beating so fast.
A faint pain emanated from the location of Su Jin’an’s wounds. Ji Weining covered those spots with her hand.
The pain amplified infinitely within her body.
Let these pains come to me instead.
After recovering for a moment, she reached out to stroke Su Jin’an’s hair, brushing the ends away to either side.
Su Jin’an’s entire face was revealed before her.
She desired her even more now.
[Affection Progress: 90%.]
Is it, almost over?
Ji Weining questioned the divine oracle.
The divine oracle still gave her no answer. What kind of existence was the divine oracle, after all?
Unconsciously, she had already walked such a long path on this journey.
Early in the morning, when the sky was just beginning to lighten, Ji Weining clutched her abdomen.
So this is how much it hurts?
She had never known her junior sister’s pain was like this. It had been a long time since she’d allowed herself to be injured.
Her abdomen felt as if it were churning. She supported herself by the bedside to stand, but after just a step or two, she stumbled.
She slowly sat down on the steps in front of the door. The wind blew fittingly, gently brushing against her cheek.
“Senior Sister, why are you up so early today?” Su Jin’an hadn’t expected to wake up so early after such a night. She didn’t know if it was due to Ji Weining’s spell or her own constitution, but she felt completely refreshed now.
“I thought I’d come watch the sunrise.” Ji Weining pointed toward the sun at the horizon.
The red sun newly born, everything between heaven and earth exuding vitality.
Su Jin’an suddenly remembered to ask, “Should we send word to our master to let her know we’re safe?”
“It’s been so long since I’ve been here, and I haven’t seen my master many times.”
“Alright.”
Leaving her own courtyard, Ji Weining rang the bell outside Mu Chanjuan’s yard, unsure if she was inside. After a long while without hearing any response, she turned to Su Jin’an and said, “Master probably isn’t in.”
“What brings you two here?” Mu Chanjuan approached from behind.
“How are you feeling, Jin’an?” Mu Chanjuan asked, then recalled what Liu Hongyu had told her. “You gave the sect leader quite a fright with that look of yours.”
“I was originally outside, but she called me back in a hurry.” Mu Chanjuan still held some medicinal herbs in her hand, and the hem of her skirt was stained with what looked like the blood of some unknown beast.
Mu Chanjuan gestured to Su Jin’an and said, “Shall I take a look?”
When it came to medical skills, Ji Weining couldn’t deny that Mu Chanjuan was far better than her.
“Alright.”
Su Jin’an extended her hand and offered it to her. Mu Chanjuan gently took her pulse, then slightly furrowed her brows.
“Did you use that pain-numbing spell you came up with?”
“Yes,” Ji Weining replied.
“Jin’an, go back first. I’ll talk to your senior sister and have her prepare something for you later.”
Seeing Su Jin’an return to her room, Mu Chanjuan said sternly, “You two shouldn’t take things too far.”
“Be careful yourself.”
“You’re usually so reluctant to give even a drop of blood, but now you’re so generous?” Ji Weining remained silent.
“Can you stop using that spell you developed so recklessly? What if something happens to you? Have you ever thought about yourself?”
Ji Weining hadn’t thought about it.
Herself?
Just living a makeshift life, that’s all.
“If you’re like this now, how will you last long with your junior sister in the future? Don’t you want that?”
No, she did.
“Then you’d better undo that spell,” Mu Chanjuan instructed.
“I don’t want her to feel pain.”
Mu Chanjuan rolled her eyes. “Here, use this as you see fit.”
She tossed a bottle of medicine to Ji Weining.
“Thank you.”
“If you want to thank me, protect Qingheng Mountain well.”
“Mm.”
Mu Chanjuan reminded her, “Once you’ve rested enough, it’s time to go out on missions.”
Ji Weining said nothing more.
“Alright.”
“What did Master tell you?”
“Nothing much. She gave me a bottle of medicine.”
“Take one pill every day. Once the spell’s duration ends, the wounds won’t hurt anymore.”
“Alright.” Su Jin’an accepted the medicine.
“You can start taking it today,” Ji Weining reminded her.
She could feel which of her wounds still carried pain. She had connected almost all the pain from Su Jin’an’s body to her own.
“Alright.”
Su Jin’an opened the bottle and swallowed a pill.
Ji Weining promptly brought a cup and poured her some water. Su Jin’an took the cup and, without hesitation, drank it all in one go.
Ji Weining clearly felt the pain originating from Su Jin’an’s body diminish significantly within her.
“Is this spell really that effective?”
Su Jin’an slightly opened her clothes and noticed the marks inside were still visible. Wounds that should have been excruciatingly painful now caused no pain at all.
Ji Weining smiled. “Of course, it’s something your senior sister made.”
“Can you teach me, Senior Sister?” Su Jin’an asked.
“Of course, I can.”
But then she thought, what if Su Jin’an found out?
Still, she reassured herself, she would never let her use it.
She reached out her hand, ready to teach her without worry.
“This is the formation diagram.” Ji Weining laid out a drawing before her.
“Transference technique connecting pain perception, while attempting to dissolve the other end of the pain. It’s divided into these few components.”
“The technique to dissipate pain must be constructed upon one’s own spiritual veins to resolve the spiritual energy within.” This was also one of the reasons it harmed the spiritual veins; anything originating from the spiritual veins would inevitably have limitations.
“I understand.”
With that, Su Jin’an picked up a dagger, intending to cut herself.
“Do not use it excessively, it harms the spiritual veins. If needed, use it again later.” Ji Weining hurriedly cautioned.
If she were to attempt it like this, what she had just explained would surely be exposed.
“Alright.” Hearing this, Su Jin’an finally put away the dagger.
By the afternoon, Ji Weining took out a booklet and handed it to Su Jin’an. “I inquired for you this contains the magical artifacts within the Clear Spirit Cave.”
“It’s very safe inside. The rest is up to you, junior sister, to enter and retrieve them. Once you obtain a magical artifact, the Clear Spirit Cave will automatically expel you.”
Su Jin’an nodded, having understood clearly.
“After entering, you still need to take good care of yourself.”
“It’s on page eighteen; that should describe the artifact.”
In the blink of an eye, it was time to enter the Clear Spirit Cave. Only a few of them had come.
From the moment Ding Yunyi arrived, Zhao Mu had been glaring fiercely at her. She clutched her own hand tightly, holding the magical artifact left to her by her elder sister, Zhao Xi, a sword.
She said nothing, yet in her silence, she seemed to grow more and more like Zhao Xi.
The atmosphere grew awkward for a moment, but fortunately, the sect leader and the elders arrived quickly.
The Clear Spirit Cave required a key jointly held by the elders and the sect leader. Only when the keys were united could the cave be opened.
The elders each took their positions and waited.
The keys emerged from their tokens, each token ultimately forming a part of the key.
“Open.” With Liu Hongyu’s command, the cave door swung open, revealing a layer of mist that obscured the interior, making it impossible for anyone to see inside.
Moments later, the elders returned one after another, allowing the others to enter.
“Go ahead.” Ji Weining patted her hand, watching as she walked inside.
Liu Xiling arrived a bit later to join the excitement and noticed Ji Weining standing outside. “Senior Sister Weining, aren’t you going to rest?”
Ji Weining: “No need.”
“Did A’Mu take it well?”
Zhao Mu held a longsword this sword was a pair with the one she had just brought inside.
“Master, Sect Leader, I shall take my leave first.” Without another word, Zhao Mu took the sword and departed.
“How is Zhao Xi?” one of the elders asked Zhao Mu’s master, Zhao Linghuai.
Zhao Linghuai waved her hand and sighed. “They are twin flowers I found in the Northern Realm, transformed into human form. As long as Zhao Mu is safe, there is still hope for Zhao Xi.”
She could only cling to a sliver of hope. Death was no stranger to them; it was even met with calmness.
“There is an herb in the Northern Realm that might be of use.” Su Jia recalled and mentioned.
Su Jia had spent a long time in the Northern Realm and was quite knowledgeable about it.
Zhao Linghuai: “Which herb might that be?”
“Wanwu Sheng.” It could revive all plants and vegetation but was only applicable to grasses, herbs, and the like. For flowers, it might only be of limited use.
One of the elders had heard of it: “But that is something guarded by the foremost family of the Northern Realm.”
Zhao Linghuai shook her head. She knew it was unlikely the Northern Realm would lend it to them.
“I’ll give it some more thought.”
“By the way, Senior Sister, this is what we found after you went in.”
“Zhao Xi mentioned some of it to me.” The abnormality in the Demon Abyss and the leakage of demonic energy likely disrupted their plans, leaving them helpless and causing this situation. If not handled properly, the entire secret realm could be harmed.
“These were left behind by the demonic creatures.”
Ji Weining used her spiritual power to examine the clothes.
They were all tainted with the scent of demonic energy.
“Should we have the entire sect try it?” she asked.
“No,” one of the elders said.
Liu Hongyu listened to their discussion, deep in thought. “There are still too few clues to make a judgment.”
“And what Ding Yun and Zhao Xi encountered was demonic energy.”
So that’s why they ended up like this?
They were different from her, they weren’t afraid of demonic energy.
“Recently, Miss Qi from West City has also arrived.”
“What is she here for?” Ji Weining looked up and asked.
She and Miss Qi might have some connection, but it wasn’t much just a few encounters.
Liu Hongyu: “I don’t know.”
Ji Weining: “Perhaps something is happening in West City as well.”
“But you definitely won’t get to see her.” Liu Hongyu teased, then continued, “You and Su Jia need to go to the Northern Frontier to secure the position of the Shen family head.”
“The competition for the position of the top family in the Northern Frontier has also begun,” Su Jia said.
Ji Weining asked keenly, “Are there any rumors about the Demon Cave in the Northern Frontier?”
“None.”
Ji Weining had a vague feeling that something was amiss. “Alright, I’ll check it out when we get there.”
“Good.”
“Ding Yun is out,” someone called out.
Ding Yun came out holding a pot of flowers.
“You changed the pot for Zhao Xi, this is a Glazed Flower planting.” Zhao Linghuai, who loved cultivating such things, brightened up at the sight. “With this, Zhao Xi will surely recover faster.”
“Mm.” Ding Yun didn’t say much, just nodded and left the place.
“Does the Ding family know you’re doing this?”
“This is my business.” It’s what I owe her.
Ding Yun knew in her heart that if it weren’t for Zhao Xi, she would have died in there.
“Senior Sister.” When Su Jin’an came out, she stored the items in her Qiankun pouch.
Lu Mingzhu was the last to emerge, holding a qin in her arms. “Why are all of you so fast?”
“I’ve also become a music cultivator. I hope Senior Sister Weining can guide me more in the future.”
“I’m not a music cultivator.”
Hearing this, Lu Mingzhu was taken aback.
She only knew or rather, everyone knew that the senior sister of Qingheng Mountain had once battled three thousand demonic creatures with a single bamboo flute.
“What about Junior Sister Jin’an?”
“I’m not one either.”
She had only learned some spells, formations, and incantations, which hardly counted as a specific cultivation path. She hadn’t committed to specializing in anything yet.
“That’s right. Senior Sister studies under Elder Mu, so she must be a medical cultivator.”
“Not that either.” Ji Weining said softly but didn’t elaborate to avoid making things difficult for her.
And so, the Qingling Cave gathering came to an end. Ji Weining took Su Jin’an back to the Thousand Spirit Residence.
Su Jin’an asked curiously, “What kind of cultivator is Senior Sister?”
“Perhaps a spiritual cultivator?”
Spiritual cultivators solidify their foundations and possess the deepest spiritual power, but it is also the most difficult path to cultivate.
However, it was not the mainstream path at Qingheng Mountain.
“Did your master not have you learn anything else?”
“She just lets me fend for myself.” Ji Weining said helplessly.
Su Jin’an agreed with that statement.
Indeed, up to now, Mu Chanjuan had at most tossed them various medicinal herbs.
“She’s obsessed with medicine.”
The extent of her obsession was something Ji Weining didn’t even know how to describe.
“Mm.”
Ji Weining asked, “In a few days, I need to make a trip to the Northern Frontier. Would you be willing to come with me, Junior Sister?”
“Do I have anything to do staying here?”
“Nothing, so your senior sister wants to take you along.” She moved closer, her tone affectionate.
Su Jin’an raised an eyebrow and looked at her. “Senior Sister, are you begging me?”
“Yes.”
Su Jin’an straightened her posture, pinching her chin. “Then I’ll think it over carefully.”
“Then Junior Sister should take your time to consider it.” Ji Weining leaned in beside her, gazing into her eyes.
