Entangled with a Gloomy Creep in an Explicit Novel - Chapter 19.2
The door was indeed pushed open, and a man and a woman rushed in. Without saying another word, they grabbed Jin Yongyi’s arms and walked outward.
“What is going on?” She looked at Xie Fuyao and Mu Qingfeng, who had the same look of anxiety on their faces, temporarily unable to distinguish the situation. “Why are the two of you together?!”
Mu Qingfeng turned his head to explain, “We will explain this once we are safe. We looked for you for a long time, thinking you had met with misfortune.”
“The brothel suddenly caught fire. It appears someone is fueling the flames from the shadows. Tonight is destined to be a decisive battle to the death with that evil demon!” Xie Fuyao did not stop her footsteps, leading Jin Yongyi to avoid the fire toward a safe place.
Jin Yongyi accepted all of this passively, “What on earth is happening? How did it suddenly become like this? Explain it more clearly, otherwise I do not know how I should help you.”
“My investigation is also not comprehensive. I only know that a year ago, the courtesan here set fire to the entire brothel. After the madam died, she was transformed into a demon by the Gu Demon King, causing havoc in this place until now,” Xie Fuyao said with disgust. “Every time the filthy transactions here take place, they cause the madam’s demonic power to skyrocket. Tonight is feared to be a fierce battle.”
With just these few verbal explanations, Jin Yongyi could only understand half of it. When she heard a certain piece of information, she could not help but be puzzled.
The courtesan who had been dead for a year, was that not…
Jin Yongyi turned her head in panic to look at that small dark room, which was currently being engulfed by roaring flames. Before long, a woman with a clear and beautiful countenance slowly walked out of the fire, except she had no legs.
She looked over, smiled, and vanished after bowing solemnly to Jin Yongyi.
Ghosts should not be afraid of fire. Thinking this way, Jin Yongyi set her mind at ease, stumbling along with Xie Fuyao’s pace.
Suddenly, she thought of something, asking Mu Qingfeng abruptly, “Where is Zhao Fuzhou? Have you seen him?”
That fellow could not still be by the lake, right?
“Are you asking about the man in white who accompanies you?” Xie Fuyao asked.
“Yes, he might be injured. If he has returned, we must bring him along with us.”
“Injured?” Xie Fuyao said disapprovingly, “In my view, there is feared to be nothing in this world that can injure him. I cannot see through his internal energy. Ah Feng said he is a demon hunter, but I never knew there was a demon hunter with this kind of strength in this world.”
How was this any different from a slap to Jin Yongyi’s face? It was just that an idiot like her believed the nonsense of the system, truly thinking that Zhao Fuzhou had suffered from the madam’s poisonous hands.
Jin Yongyi gritted her teeth. Suddenly realizing something, she said in disbelief, “Wait a moment… Ah Feng?”
She looked toward Mu Qingfeng, only to see him scratching the back of his head, a joyful smile appearing on his face.
No way, brother. She had always regarded Xie Fuyao as the heroine of this novel. She hoped Xie Fuyao would look at him a few more times, but that did not mean he could actually pry into the male lead’s territory.
Originally, Zhao Fuzhou found Mu Qingfeng displeasing to the eye. Now this was just perfect; the hatred of having one’s woman taken was irreconcilable. She could not even begin to imagine how rocky her path as a lackey would be.
Mu Qingfeng told her to watch the road, “I will explain to you later. Right now we must quickly deal with the demon!”
Xie Fuyao echoed the sentiment.
The three of them ran to the main hall, but the entrance had already been sealed off by the massive fire.
The fire rose high, its tongues of flame reaching out toward them arrogantly.
Jin Yongyi was quick of eye and swift of hand, holding Xie Fuyao with one hand and pulling Mu Qingfeng’s collar with the other, yanking them backward to narrowly avoid it.
“We can exit from that side. Ah Feng, you take her and leave first, I must find the demon’s true body!” Xie Fuyao pushed her into Mu Qingfeng’s embrace.
“But…”
“No buts! Leave quickly!”
Mu Qingfeng looked at her, his expression filled entirely with struggle.
This thoroughly exasperated Jin Yongyi. She hated seeing this kind of plot most when watching dramas. Leaving earlier meant everyone might live; lingering around would only cause a blockage from anger even if they did not die!
She slipped away like a gust of wind, “Whether you leave or not is up to you, I am leaving first!”
“Miss Jin!” Mu Qingfeng shouted loudly, looking hesitantly at Xie Fuyao. Still unable to set his mind at ease, he gritted his teeth and chased after Jin Yongyi.
Lifting her skirt, Jin Yongyi ran incredibly fast. Just as she was about to slip out of a hole that had no fire, a flame suddenly exploded before her eyes. Chunks of stone came crashing down one after another, and baring her teeth, she dodged to the side, causing all the stones to crash onto Mu Qingfeng, who had rushed over in a hurry.
Unable to care about checking on him, a sinister laugh echoed from the top of the main hall.
“You caused my life’s work to be destroyed by fire. None of you can dream of leaving today!”
What a classic villain line.
Before Jin Yongyi could finish her internal complaint, the ground violently shook, cracking open with a massive fissure from the center toward the surroundings. Xie Fuyao was the first to fall, followed closely by Mu Qingfeng. He used all his might to leap out from among over a hundred stones, jumping to Jin Yongyi’s side to grab her hand, falling into the fissure together with her.
Before long, they crashed solidly onto the ground.
With Mu Qingfeng acting as a cushion, Jin Yongyi was completely uninjured. Climbing up from his body, she originally wanted to pull him up, but suddenly noticed several bloody wounds on the back of his hand.
Stones had crashed down during the fall, and because Mu Qingfeng was afraid she would be hit, he used his hands to shield her the entire time.
Jin Yongyi was temporarily stunned in place.
Mu Qingfeng endured the aching pain throughout his body, climbing up from the ground and hiding his hands behind his back, scanning her entire body with worry, “Miss Jin, are you injured anywhere?”
Jin Yongyi shook her head.
She felt a bit guilty in her heart. She merely regarded Mu Qingfeng as a character she could utilize. Since they had known each other during these days, except for when Mu Qingfeng was in critical danger to protect her and she begged Zhao Fuzhou to save his life, she had never truly cared about him.
Yet it had returned his genuine treatment.
Jin Yongyi pointed at his hand, “Does it hurt?”
Mu Qingfeng was stunned, nodding subconsciously before quickly shaking his head, “I am thick-skinned, this tiny superficial wound is nothing to me. On the contrary, Miss Jin, if you are injured anywhere, you must tell me!”
“Call me Yongyi,” Jin Yongyi looked at him with a smile.
“…”
“After all, we are friends, calling me that all the time is too distant!”
“Alright, okay.” Mu Qingfeng suddenly flushed red, repeating her name in a small voice, “Yongyi.”
Jin Yongyi gave a sweet response, making a firm decision in her heart that before she left, she must help her good brother find his sister, even if she had to use the power of the foolish system.
“Are you all alright?” Xie Fuyao converged with them, a sword now in her hand. “I do not know whose handiwork this fire is, even the demon cannot control it, only able to watch this place collapse helplessly.”
Jin Yongyi narrowed her eyes, an answer faintly appearing in her heart.
“This place is presumably the demon’s nest. The enemy is in the dark while we are in the light, so we must be careful,” Xie Fuyao instructed.
The space they had fallen into looked very much like a courtyard. The area near the walls was covered with bushes, and courtyard lamps were installed on both sides of the pebble paths and corridors.
However, Jin Yongyi could not see these layouts very clearly. Above the courtyard, the originally enormous hole slowly closed, and the bright light seeping from it quietly vanished. Relying solely on these few dim path lamps, she was no different from a blind person.
“I will go find the place of vulnerability. Ah Feng, you stay with her.” Xie Fuyao placed an object into Mu Qingfeng’s hand. “If there is any accident, release a signal toward the sky. Before I arrive, you must protect her well.”
Mu Qingfeng nodded solemnly.
Being in a dark environment, Jin Yongyi was still very afraid. Just as she was about to agree, the system went online at an inopportune time, playing a piece of cliché background music.
“Host, the reward for the perfect completion of the previous mission will be issued to you.”
Jin Yongyi did not see anything clearly, only feeling that a certain object slipped into the hidden pocket of her clothes.
“Next, the sixth mission will be released: Please give the male lead a big hug.”
Jin Yongyi was confused.
This time it did not come with high difficulty, but rather brought on something bizarre instead.
Given her current situation, how was she supposed to give Zhao Fuzhou a hug? Also, completely inexplicably, why did she suddenly have to hug him?
“Keep it up, Host, this is the penultimate mission, victory is in sight!”
These words were like a shot of adrenaline to her. She had always adhered to the working concept of finishing early and clocking out early. Moreover, it was just hugging him once. After experiencing bizarre things like jumping into the lake to save a person only to be forcibly kissed, where she lost both her investment and her reward, she could accept anything now.
“The mission will begin in three minutes, with a time limit of one minute to complete.”
Jin Yongyi, who did not want to lose her temper this time, still could not help but curse, “Are you completely shameless?!”
