Edge of A Burning Kiss - Chapter 31
Xia Jin yawned sleepily again from the side, and the two quickly urged her to go back to her room to rest.
As she walked away, Xia Jin seemed about to say something, but then she remembered it was Chi Fan handling things. After a moment’s thought, she realized there was nothing to worry about.
After all, the people around Qin Yu were all sharp-minded, one more so than the other.
Chi Fan delivered a document and then left with Song Zhijian.
Before leaving, Song Zhijian gave Qin Yu a meaningful glance, as if he wanted to say something, but ultimately chose to remain silent.
In the car, Song Zhijian stayed quiet the entire time, and Chi Fan tactfully didn’t disturb him.
When the car stopped in front of Song Zhijian’s apartment, the previously silent Song suddenly spoke before getting out: “Is your President Qin truly sincere about her?”
Chi Fan smiled faintly. “Naturally. I believe Mr. Song also wishes for Miss Xia to be happy.”
Song Zhijian said nothing.
Chi Fan continued, “As President Qin’s assistant, I’m not in a position to say these things, but since this isn’t strictly work-related, I thought I could share a few words with you. Miss Xia’s current situation isn’t easy, and while President Qin isn’t the only one who can help her, he’s the one who most genuinely wants her to be well.”
“I think you understand what I mean, Mr. Song.”
Song Zhijian chuckled and nodded but didn’t respond. He pushed the car door open and walked into the apartment building.
Of course, he knew Qin Yu’s status and that Qin Yu was a worthy match for Xia Jin.
As long as Qin Yu truly cared for her, as long as Xia Jin was happy, he could rest easy.
Back home, Song Zhijian sat on the edge of the bed where Xia Jin had once sat, burying his face in his hands and taking a deep breath.
His thoughts were a tangled mess, but Xia Jin’s figure kept surfacing in his mind.
Absentmindedly, he pulled out a blank sheet of paper and, with a few rough strokes, sketched the outline of a design.
The dress featured hand-embroidered hibiscus vines extending along the hem, a waistline subtly cinched with delicate pearl chains, and a silhouette of silk chiffon that gave the illusion of being as light and translucent as morning mist.
Lying on the bed, Song Zhijian held up the sketch, gazing at it almost obsessively, as if imagining how it would look on someone.
After a long while, he finally spoke.
“Let’s call it ‘Dawn and Dusk.'”
Meanwhile, Xia Jin, who had fallen asleep as soon as she hit the bed, didn’t wake until six in the evening.
Bleary-eyed, she stepped out of her bedroom to find Qin Yu still sitting on the living room sofa.
He was reviewing the document Chi Fan had brought earlier and looked up at her. “Awake? Come take a look at this agreement.”
Xia Jin was baffled. “Why would I need to see your documents?”
Qin Yu snorted. “To safeguard my legal rights as the superficial boyfriend of President Xia, of course.”
Still confused, Xia Jin took the document. “Article One: During the period of pretending to be in a relationship, neither party shall bring any member of the opposite sex home?”
Qin Yu nodded. “Correct. You’ve already violated the first clause today.”
“Article Two: Neither party shall visit the home of a member of the opposite sex under the pretext of checking on them, inspecting, or any other reason. Special circumstances must be discussed and agreed upon beforehand.”
Qin Yu nodded again. “Exactly. That’s aimed at you.”
Xia Jin was utterly speechless. She flipped through five or six more pages before exclaiming in disbelief, “There are a hundred and fifty-five clauses in total? Who even comes up with something like this?”
Qin Yu shook his head this time, wagging his finger with an air of mystery. “That’s where you’re wrong. Love is inherently troublesome, let alone pretending to be in it. What if President Xia accidentally overlooks something and gets caught by the paparazzi? Wouldn’t that be a double blow to both Lelai and Stellar Cube?”
Xia Jin was furious. “Why don’t you say it’s you who might get caught flirting around?”
Qin Yu blinked innocently with his peach-blossom eyes. “President Xia, don’t forget, I have zero scandals to my name. Unlike you, who still hasn’t cleared things up with Chen Zeyu!”
Xia Jin felt her professional integrity had been insulted. She angrily extended her hand. “Pen and ink, now!”
“Right away!”
In an instant, Qin Yu transformed into an obsequious lackey, considerately uncapping the pen and handing it to Xia Jin.
Xia Jin signed and stamped the document in one swift motion.
As if joking, Xia Jin’s reputation in the industry was top-tier. How could she let someone like Qin Yu tarnish it?
“President Xia, you’re decisive. The show starts filming next week. You’d better think carefully about what preparations to make. I look forward to your performance. This year, two-thirds of Qin Corporation’s artist promotions will be handled by Stellar Cube.”
Xia Jin’s heart leaped with joy. “Understood, understood. Leave it to me, and you can stop worrying. Uh, I mean, rest assured.”
After making two copies of the document, Qin Yu stood up to leave.
Xia Jin walked ahead, obsequiously holding the door open for him. “Feel free to come again~ I’ll draft the list of Qin Corporation’s promoted artists and send it to your email.”
Qin Yu sighed inwardly. No matter how many times he had helped her in the past, he never received this kind of treatment.
But the moment he handed her a few resources, she treated him like royalty.
Xia Jin’s mind was entirely occupied with Stellar Cube.
“Alright, don’t forget, Saturday is the day after tomorrow.”
Xia Jin nodded like a chick pecking at rice. “Don’t worry, don’t worry. I only have one day off, and I’ll still be working on Saturday. Drafting the list won’t be delayed.”
Qin Yu’s face darkened instantly. “Seems like someone forgot that when she hitched a ride in my car, she promised to treat me to dinner at Wangjiang Pavilion.”
“Hmm?” Xia Jin drawled. “Ah! That’s right!”
Standing beside her, Qin Yu gritted his teeth in frustration. “You really forgot, didn’t you?”
Xia Jin hurriedly replied, “No, no, of course not. Just message me directly on Saturday. Once I’m done with work, I’ll come pick you up.”
Truth be told, Xia Jin hadn’t forgotten. She just assumed Qin Yu was joking and would forget about it in a couple of days.
Who knew this bastard had such a good memory?
Only then did Qin Yu nod in satisfaction and return home.
After seeing off this god of wealth, Xia Jin immediately contacted Song Qianrou to reserve a private room at Wangjiang Pavilion.
…
On Saturday afternoon, Qin Yu dressed in a custom-tailored suit and wearing refined men’s cologne, finally left the dressing mirror under the urging of his alarm and hurried off to Stellar Cube.
Originally, the plan was for Xia Jin to skip overtime on Saturday evening and pick him up. But who knew she would suddenly call another meeting?
So, Qin Yu had to go to Stellar Cube himself, after which Xia Jin would drive them to Wangjiang Pavilion.
When Qin Yu arrived at Stellar Cube, he caused a stir among all the receptionists. Everyone’s eyes were on him.
“Who’s that? A newly signed artist? I don’t think I’ve seen him before!”
“How could you not recognize him? That’s Qin Yu!”
“Qin Yu? Why is the boss of Lelai visiting our company?”
“No idea. But damn, he’s ridiculously handsome!”
“Oh no, why does Qin Yu seem like such a perfect match for our boss?”
Qin Yu, who had been walking behind Song Qianrou, caught the phrase “perfect match.”
Like an NPC triggered by a storyline, he suddenly gave the girl a thumbs-up: “Great taste! I’ll personally fund your raise!”
Of course, Song Qianrou didn’t hear what the girl had said and just shot Qin Yu a puzzled look: “Our President Xia is in the office, don’t go poaching behind her back!”
“With President Xia around, how could I possibly be interested in anyone else?”
“Huh?” Song Qianrou sensed something off. “Is that what I meant?”
Qin Yu naturally ignored her question. “Hurry up, hurry up. President Xia will start nagging soon.”
“Oh, alright.” Song Qianrou didn’t press further.
