Drunk on Madness - Chapter 76
Under Su Mo’s supervision and the craftsmen’s hard work, the construction of the house progressed smoothly. Half a month later, Li Xiang moved into her new home.
Su Mo went to town again and sought out a broker to purchase two maidservants and two guards. After buying some supplies, the group made their way back to the new home in a grand procession.
From a distance, the sight nearly startled Li Xiang. Once she recognized it was Su Mo, she couldn’t help but grumble inwardly.
Late at night, after arranging for everyone to rest, Su Mo and Li Xiang returned to their room to sleep.
Having restrained himself for days, Su Mo finally found himself alone with Li Xiang in the room. With no children or mother-in-law around to disturb them, his hands began to wander restlessly.
He suddenly leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against Li Xiang’s ear, causing her to shiver involuntarily. Su Mo recalled that the last time they had been intimate was the previous year, a time when he thought he would never have her again. Back then, he had been rough, thinking only of himself.
Li Xiang found his cautious demeanor somewhat amusing. She bit his Adam’s apple, released it, then gently rubbed against it, her touches light and teasing.
Su Mo looked down at her, his eyes filled with anticipation and longing.
“Xiangxiang, don’t tease me. I can’t take it.”
Before she could react, he had already claimed her tightly.
The newly made wooden bed, after all, was of somewhat inferior quality, creaking and groaning under their movements.
Li Xiang whispered into Su Mo’s ear, “Momo, be gentler. I’m afraid we’ll disturb Mother.”
Her soft words did nothing to lessen Su Mo’s intensity. If anything, Li Xiang felt the sounds grew even louder.
She resisted, propping herself up. “If you don’t listen, I won’t… do it anymore.”
Before Li Xiang could finish her threat, Su Mo lifted her small hands above her head and covered her with a flurry of kisses.
And so, their first day in the new home began.
The next day, it was already noon, with the sun high in the sky, when Li Xiang slowly woke up. She immediately got out of bed.
Seeing Li Xiang rise, Mother Su’s anxious heart finally settled. Earlier that morning, Su Mo had told her that Li Xiang was unwell and asked her not to disturb her, letting her rest longer.
The family sat down to eat. With few people in the household, there weren’t many formalities. Su Mo had the servants set up another table so everyone could eat together.
During the meal, Mother Su suddenly asked, “Momo, when will you go to town again?”
Su Mo picked out the bones from a piece of sea bass as he replied, “Mother, this place isn’t like Youzhou’s large counties. The shops in town only do business on the first and fifteenth days of the month. What do you need to buy?”
Mother Su complained, “After all, this is a remote mountainous area, and there are especially many rats, insects, and snakes. Last night, I heard mice squeaking all night long.”
She then asked in surprise, “It was so loud, didn’t you hear it?”
Xi Yu, one of the servants at the other table, chimed in immediately, “I heard it too. It didn’t stop all night.”
Li Xiang, who was eating, choked on her food, coughing violently for a long time.
Seeing her like this, Su Mo thought he hadn’t cleaned the fish bones properly and immediately stood up to support her, gently patting her back. “Xiangxiang, don’t scare me.”
Li Xiang turned away, waving her hand to indicate she was fine. She took a sip of water to calm herself and glared at Su Mo.
Seeing that she was alright, Su Mo sat back down to continue his meal.
After Li Xiang’s reaction, the atmosphere grew somewhat tense. Everyone forgot about the earlier topic of the mice.
Feeling guilty, Su Mo had no choice but to go to town in the afternoon. After searching for a long time, he finally bought some rat poison just for show.
As for the wooden bed, he commissioned a new one. But Su Mo had high standards, and it couldn’t be finished quickly. He had to arrange for the carpenter to deliver it personally in two days.
That night, Su Mo fixed Li Xiang with a resentful gaze.
Unable to withstand it, Li Xiang couldn’t bear to see him suffer. However, he refused to do anything on the bed again.
Su Mo glanced around the room, his eyes settling on the writing desk.
He cleared the items off the desk one by one, placing them to the side. Then, he spread a quilt over the desk, picked Li Xiang up, and carried her over while kissing her along the way.
Clothes fell to the floor one by one, and the room fell into silence. Li Xiang’s hands gripped the edge of the desk tightly, his lips pressed together to stifle any sound. Occasionally, Su Mo let out a slightly louder noise, each time making Li Xiang’s heart clench, afraid they might wake the neighbors next door.
