Dr. Chi’s Mission: Seduce Officer Su - Chapter 45.1
“One minute until the new year! Hurry, hurry, hurry!”
Su Qiao, wearing the little tiger hat that Chi Jue had insisted on buying, threw away the sunflower seed shells in her hand and suddenly shouted loudly as she ran into the bedroom.
Chi Jue had been accompanying her grandmother, flipping through old family photos. The harmonious atmosphere was like a warm embrace, wrapping them in a quiet and comfortable tranquility, which was abruptly shattered by the sudden exclamation.
Not long after, Su Qiao came sneaking back out like a little dog.
The TV was playing “Unforgettable Tonight,” the same program broadcast every year. The elderly woman, seeing Su Qiao tightly clutching her coat, knew exactly what she was up to.
Wanting to tease her silly, adorable granddaughter, she sat firmly without moving.
Chi Jue held onto the old lady’s arm, also waiting to see the show.
As the countdown on TV reached “1”, the world outside erupted into a dazzling display of fireworks and firecrackers, lighting up the night sky.
Su Qiao plopped down onto her knees, kowtowing to her grandmother to wish her a happy new year: “Grandma, I wish you a happy new year, may all your wishes come true, peace and joy, and a long, long life!”
Her head touched the floor, her hands raised above her head, and she held this position without moving, still mumbling blessings under her breath.
Chi Jue marveled inwardly at how she managed to strike such a pose. Unable to resist, she leaned over to take a closer look, then smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners, thinking how adorably silly this little bear looked.
Su Qiao, noticing the lack of response and unable to lift her head immediately, could only repeatedly rub her fingers together, signaling for her grandmother to hurry up and give her the red envelope.
“Get up, you little money-grubber,” the old lady said, slipping the pre-prepared red envelope into Su Qiao’s fingers. She then turned and gave one to Chi Jue as well, adding, “You two take good care of each other.”
“Thank you, Grandma,” Chi Jue said, holding the red envelope gratefully. The amount didn’t matter, it was the thought that counted. She didn’t need the money, but she cherished this feeling of being equally loved, a kind of attention she had always only dreamed of.
Su Qiao sprang up like a carp leaping out of water, unable to contain herself any longer, and presented all her year-end bonus to her grandmother. “This is for you, Grandma~”
The year-end bonus was quite generous, and Su Qiao hadn’t had time to put it in a red envelope, so she simply handed it over in the manila envelope it came in.
Every year at this time, she would dutifully hand over her year-end bonus, always mindful of the ceremonial aspect.
“This year, don’t give it to me. I’m old and don’t need to spend much. If I take it, I’ll just end up putting it in a fixed deposit for you. Keep the money and take Xiao Chi out for some good food. You rarely get time off, go out and have fun for a few days. You’ll need the money for that,” Grandma said, knowing that the young couple had many expenses and gently declining Su Qiao’s gesture.
Chi Jue had also prepared a large red envelope early on, one that was visibly thick.
She didn’t have a strong concept of money, thinking that since it was her first New Year with Grandma, it was only right to give a more substantial amount. She had even put thought into the red envelope itself, choosing one made of high-quality, gilded paper.
“Grandma, you have to accept my gesture of filial piety,” she said, not giving the old lady a chance to refuse as she tucked the red envelope into the pocket of Grandma’s padded jacket.
“Oh my, there are only three of us in this house, and here we are passing red envelopes back and forth like we’re strangers!”
The old lady muttered a few words, but she was secretly overjoyed. Her hand in her pocket clutched the surprisingly thick envelope, and she glanced at Chi Jue with a mix of astonishment and unease, about to say something, but Chi Jue’s gentle, smiling expression stopped her from speaking.
Chi Jue rested her head on her grandmother’s shoulder, cooing, “Just relax and enjoy your life, don’t worry about this family anymore. From now on, we’ll be the ones holding things up.”
“My dear, you’re both so good!” The elderly woman knew she shouldn’t overstay her welcome as a third wheel. Noticing it was getting late, she stood up to return to her room, leaving the two some private space.
Before entering her room, she turned back specifically to remind Su Qiao, “We have to get up early tomorrow to visit the graves. Don’t keep Chi Jue up late with you, hurry up and wash for bed.”
“Got it!” Su Qiao responded repeatedly. Once her grandmother had entered the bedroom, she quickly sat down beside Chi Jue, spreading her palms playfully. “What about me? What about me?”
“What about you?” Chi Jue feigned ignorance, deliberately trying to tease the little bear into a fluster.
“The red envelope!”
“We’re the same generation, it’s not customary to ask peers for red envelopes!” Chi Jue stood up, preparing to head toward the small bedroom.
Unexpectedly, Su Qiao didn’t get upset. Instead, she pulled out both her grandmother’s red envelope and the one she had prepared herself from her pocket, stuffing them all into Chi Jue’s hand. “It’s fine if you don’t have one, you can have all of mine~”
“Truly a generous, non-possessive good puppy.” Chi Jue didn’t accept them but instead hooked an arm around her neck and quickly slipped into the room.
From her purse, she pulled out a red envelope with a panda logo. It looked so thin it seemed empty, yet her eyes sparkled with anticipation as she urged Su Qiao to open it quickly.
“What is it? So mysterious.” Seeing that Chi Jue wasn’t saying anything, Su Qiao couldn’t wait and pulled out a small handwritten note from the red envelope.
Little Bear Wish Card, no upper limit, no expiration date.
“What’s a Little Bear Wish Card?” Su Qiao was both amused and touched. Carefully tucking the note back into the red envelope, she dashed to her computer desk, pulled out her treasure box, and swiftly hid it away.
“Just what it says, a chance for you to make a wish. Whatever you want, I’ll grant it, but no murder or arson allowed.”
Chi Jue’s thoughtfulness was more captivating than money. She always made an effort to protect Su Qiao’s self-esteem, and whenever she sensed the little bear’s unease or insecurity, she sought ways to soothe that intense anxiety.
When preparing the red envelope, the Little Bear Wish Card was the result of her careful consideration, a sincere gesture that balanced dignity and material concerns.
“Alright, now it’s my turn to ask for a New Year’s gift. I’m not interested in red envelopes…” Chi Jue clasped her hands behind her back and leaned in close to Su Qiao, chirping happily, “What I want more is… you~”
At these words, Su Qiao flopped straight back onto the bed, spreading her arms and legs into a ‘big’ character.
“Come on! Your gift is right here in front of you. Let’s ring in the New Year with a bang!” The little bear, thick-skinned and enjoying herself, spouted cheeky remarks.
“You’re so annoying!” Chi Jue pouted playfully but leaned down to bury herself in the little bear’s embrace, seeking a kiss. “But you’re so good~”
Su Qiao gently stroked her brows and eyes, extending an invitation: “Grandma’s getting older. Tomorrow, when we go to sweep the graves, climbing hills and steps will be tough for her. How about you come with me to visit my mom and grandpa’s graves?”
“Of course. Sooner or later, you’d have to take me to see them.” Chi Jue was more than willing to accompany her and kissed the little bear’s lips again. “So tonight, you have to sleep properly, no mischief.”
“Then… can I pet the little bunny?”
Watching those restless hands wandering over her body, Chi Jue hurriedly pushed them away. “No!”
“But I sleep better when I’m holding the little bunny. Let me pet it~ Please, let me pet it~”
“If you dare touch me tonight, I’ll make sure you don’t get to touch anything for the rest of your vacation!” Chi Jue struggled to get up and head to the bathroom to wash up, only to be pulled back into bed by Su Qiao.
“Didn’t Grandma say I should take you out for a few days? If you don’t let me touch you now, don’t come begging me later~”
“Since when did you get so bold, threatening me like this?” Chi Jue pinched her nose and gave it a firm tug.
But when Su Qiao started acting shamelessly, she was utterly helpless.
The little troublemaker flipped over, pinning her against the pillow, and the kisses that followed grew increasingly aggressive, until the inner sweater was pushed aside, revealing an alluring, delicate expanse.
“Fine, no touching then. But you never said I couldn’t nibble on the little bunny~”
Su Qiao buried her head, never having properly examined the texture of Chi Jue’s lingerie before.
With no work to worry about the next day, she took full advantage of the bright fluorescent light in the room, her gaze burning as it swept over the intricate lace patterns.
The beauty of women’s lingerie isn’t meant for others to admire, it’s designed to maintain a beautiful shape while offering supreme comfort. A few inches of fabric can carry a staggering price tag.
Chi Jue’s refined taste in life was concentrated in this intimate corner. She was low-key, sticking to just one or two favorite brands, mostly in dark colors, but each piece was meticulously chosen for its elegance.
The one she wore today shimmered with a gradient of deep ink-like hues, like a dark green butterfly spreading its wings, resting atop soft, full, snow-white peaks.
Watching Su Qiao’s eyes practically drilling into the fabric seams, Chi Jue nervously raised her arm to cover herself. “What are you staring at? Have you no shame?”
Su Qiao licked her canine tooth, her eyes gleaming with long-suppressed mischief. “Nonsense! I’m just politely saying hello to the little bunny~”
…
New Year’s Day.
After tossing and turning on the cramped little bed until the early hours of the morning, they managed only a few hours of sleep before Grandma’s noise roused them from bed.
Su Qiao was running on fumes, listlessly banging her head against the dining table in a dramatic display of exhaustion.
Having played the role of “pillow princess” all night, Chi Jue was comparatively less tired. After all, nestled in those secure arms, she always slept soundly.
Grandma tapped Su Qiao’s head with her chopsticks, scolding her as usual. “Can’t even sit properly for a meal? Hurry up and eat so we can go. If we’re late, everywhere will be packed, and there won’t be any parking left.”
Su Qiao jolted awake, quickly slurped down her bowl of plain congee, then snatched a steamed bun and dashed into the bedroom to change.
“That child is so impulsive, you have to keep an eye on her. Don’t let her run wild all the time. She just needs a bit of discipline.” Grandma didn’t have time for a full lecture, so she pulled Chi Jue aside to complain.
“Alright, I’ll make sure to keep her in line from now on,” Chi Jue replied, breaking off small pieces of the steamed bun and eating them delicately.
Grandma, worried she wasn’t eating enough, peeled a hard-boiled egg and placed it on her plate. “Eat more. While you’re on vacation, I’ll make you some nourishing soup. Put on a little weight before you go back to work, your job is draining enough as it is.”
“Thank you, Grandma. I can manage on my own,” Chi Jue said, not out of mere politeness but out of habit, she always led with gratitude whenever others went out of their way for her.
“Oh, you… You’re my granddaughter now. Why are you still so formal with me?”
