Dr. Chi’s Mission: Seduce Officer Su - Chapter 22
The moment the elevator doors opened, Su Qiao’s worst fears became reality. The scene before her eyes was a heart-wrenching mess.
The frail and delicate Chi Jue was pinned in the arms of a strange woman, her clothes crumpled with visible distress, and her fair cheeks flushed red from the vicious grip.
To Su Qiao, this invasive harassment was an unforgivable crime. Rage, like countless maggots, crawled over her reason.
It was once widely rumored in the investigative circles that the Zhouhai Criminal Investigation Team had two unshakable pillars: one was the cold and detached Captain Ji, the core of solving cases, and the other was the hot-tempered Captain Su, renowned for her skill in capturing criminals.
For a moment, Su Qiao felt as if she had returned to the past, a time when she used violence to counter violence, regardless of the consequences.
Her barely suppressed anger teetered on the edge of calm.
With long, straight legs, she strode forward swiftly. Almost the instant An Jiaqin turned at the sound, Su Qiao’s palm erupted with an irresistible force, slamming the other’s head hard against the wall.
“Mmph…” An Jiaqin’s sinister face was distorted by the pressure, her gritted teeth letting out a pained groan.
For someone as arrogant as her, being subdued like this was akin to having her dignity stripped away, every nerve screaming with humiliation.
Su Qiao reached out with her other hand, swiftly pulling Chi Jue behind her, then seizing the flailing arm and twisting it behind An Jiaqin’s back in one fluid motion.
Chi Jue’s helpless terror vanished the moment “Little Bear” appeared.
In her mind, the figure in the cavalry uniform charged recklessly into the raging flames. That night, she had lain awake, hiding under the covers, staring at the person in the video and wondering: Why did this fearless individual captivate her gaze?
That figure, once on a screen, was now vividly before her eyes.
She had found the perfect answer: the one she loved was a heroic savior, truly capable of arriving on a rainbow cloud.
She secretly longed to lean against that sturdy back, for she had tasted the sweetness of safety.
Su Qiao had no time to inquire about Dr. Chi’s well-being; her sole focus now was to deal with the stranger who had challenged her principles.
Yes, unwittingly, Chi Jue had become her bottom line.
Her cold, stern voice suddenly echoed through the corridor: “I now seriously suspect that you have violated Ms. Chi’s will by physically harassing her. You may question this, but do not move recklessly.”
“Meeting an old flame naturally involves physical contact, Officer. On what grounds are you accusing me of sexual harassment? Do you have evidence?” An Jiaqin’s tone remained provocative. She tried to break free from the hand pinning her head and couldn’t resist hurling venomous words: “Do you think wearing that uniform gives you the right to do as you please?”
She deliberately portrayed herself as a figure Su Qiao would find hard to accept, hoping to provoke an excessive, violent reaction, a handle she could use to retaliate, or at least strip Su Qiao of her authority through a complaint.
Su Qiao remained unmoved, merely narrowing her eyes with a cold laugh. She felt deeply insulted.
In the course of handling cases, there were always those who dared to test their luck, thinking a few provocative words could turn the tables. In reality, such tactics were nothing but clumsy, contemptible tricks.
She didn’t escalate her actions over a few words, but raised her voice in a verbal warning: “Don’t move. I’m warning you, don’t move.”
Being humiliated like this in front of Chi Jue completely crushed An Jiaqin’s pitiful shred of self-respect.
Enduring the sharp pain in her neck, she muttered angrily under her breath, “You’d better think carefully about what you’re doing. Everyone has to pay the price for their actions.”
“Threatening a police officer is a serious offense that can lead to criminal charges. Everything you’ve done has been caught on camera. I suggest you think before you speak or act. After all, as you said, everyone has to pay the price for their actions.” Su Qiao’s tone was calmer than before, but dripping with absolute mockery.
When it came to dealing with troublemakers, she had an endless repertoire of tricks, this was, after all, her area of expertise.
An Jiaqin, unwilling to accept defeat, strained to look up and confirm the camera in the corner, but ultimately shut her mouth obediently.
Chi Jue didn’t stand by idly. She knew all too well An Jiaqin’s vindictive nature and gently placed her hand on “Little Bear’s” arm. “Let her go for now.”
Su Qiao turned to Chi Jue in surprise, her brow unconsciously furrowing. Her eyes filled with an innocent confusion, her lips trembling as if she wanted to say something, but she pressed them into a tight line instead.
Dr. Chi’s simple request made her feel like a joke. Releasing An Jiaqin, she took a step back, her worry and anger extinguished by the cold wind blowing through the corridor.
An Jiaqin rubbed her sore arm, her venomous gaze fixed on Su Qiao’s face. She pointed a finger at her, about to unleash a threat, but wisely swallowed her words. Rage had stripped her of both grace and authority.
As she passed Chi Jue, she paused, her tone softening slightly. “We’ll be seeing each other again soon.”
Su Qiao stuffed her hands into her pockets, her ears twitching slightly. She could fend off one instance of harassment, but she couldn’t stop someone shamelessly coming back again and again.
Finally, she understood where the roses blooming in the office had come from. The fear of Chi Jue being taken away stirred a malicious impulse within her.
She turned and snapped impatiently, “Still hanging around?”
This time, she wasn’t speaking as a police officer driving someone away, but as Su Qiao, alone and powerless.
An Jiaqin narrowed her eyes and looked back, a silent, ill-intentioned warning in her gaze, before turning and leaving in defeat.
The farce had finally come to an end.
…
In the oppressive silence of the hallway, broken only by the wind howling past the window, the two standing opposite each other didn’t know what to say to ease the chill in the air.
Chi Jue leaned tiredly against the wall, struggling to find the right words. If Su Qiao asked, she was prepared to reveal everything that had happened during her years with An Jiaqin, no lies, no omissions.
To her surprise, Su Qiao didn’t ask anything about their relationship. Instead, she stepped forward, cupping Chi Jue’s face and examining it carefully from side to side.
In Su Qiao’s eyes, even the redness on Dr. Chi’s cheeks was her fault. She would take all the blame upon herself, replaying the scene in her mind to figure out how to prevent such a thing from happening again.
“Did she hurt you?” Su Qiao’s tone was stiff, her pique wrapped in soft concern.
If it took lighting ten lamps of trial for someone to enter one’s heart, then this caring concern lit up an entire row in Chi Jue’s.
Su Qiao had given her questions and answers beyond her imagination.
“Why didn’t you ask who she is?” Chi Jue raised her uneven eyebrows slightly, tilting her head. In her shimmering gaze hid a little bear full of heartache, as well as anticipation, anticipation that Su Qiao would grow curious about her past.
“Is it important who she is? What matters to me is that she hurt you, on every level.” Su Qiao’s response was laden with meaning.
She had sensed an expired sentiment in the interactions between An Jiaqin and Chi Jue, a past she could never be part of.
Tentatively, Chi Jue reached out, tugging at the sleeve of the ‘little bear’ as if grasping a surge of immense courage.
Before embarking on a new relationship, laying bare the past is the greatest respect one can offer the other.
Talking about bygone days in front of Su Qiao, she truly needed that courage as a foundation.
Su Qiao lowered her gaze to the hand that slowly slid from her sleeve to her palm. As the cold touch of fingertips reached her, their fingers naturally intertwined.
This time, she didn’t pull her hand away but instead gripped back firmly, even boldly pulling the woman in front of her closer into an embrace.
And so, the courage Chi Jue had sought flowed through their interlaced fingers, filling her heart with unwavering confidence.
Silently, she led the ‘little bear’ toward her home.
The unspoken invitation was hard to resist. Su Qiao followed her heart, trailing behind until she once again stepped into the vast space where her exclusive slippers waited.
The two changed into slippers and headed straight to the living room.
Chi Jue didn’t take a seat. Instead, she walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, leaving Su Qiao with a silhouette steeped in loneliness.
Habitually, she began drawing on the glass, but the lines her fingertips traced were chaotic, unlike the effortless hearts she used to leave.
“Her name is An Jiaqin. She’s my ex-girlfriend and my first love. We’ve known each other since childhood and were together for many years.” Chi Jue’s tone was calm and unruffled as she recounted, as if the person entangled with An Jiaqin throughout her youth wasn’t herself.
Su Qiao hadn’t yet made it to her side; she paused in her steps, her backlit face shrouded in shadows, a touch of indescribable melancholy rising within her.
The bright living room lights cast their reflections onto the windowpane, turning the glass into a medium to gauge each other’s expressions, yet deciphering the other’s thoughts remained elusive.
Su Qiao struggled to conceal a fleeting envy in her emotions. Apart from forcing a faint smile, she couldn’t offer much more in response.
The night’s woven darkness enveloped the brightness within the room, a thick silence gripping her body. The desire to draw closer yet halting right there became a restless reluctance.
Chi Jue’s gaze shifted, fixed on the motionless figure reflected in the glass.
When no approach came, she chose to turn and take a step toward the hesitant one.
Her hands clasped together somewhat awkwardly, a demeanor usually belonging to Su Qiao. But no matter how calm she appeared now, she couldn’t hide the fear of pushing the ‘little bear’ away.
“Due to her family’s business expansion, she had to move abroad permanently. We argued countless times over it, but in the end, she still chose to give up on me. After she broke up with me, she disappeared for five or six years. Ironically, as soon as she returned to the country, she inexplicably came to ask for reconciliation, which is why you witnessed today’s farce.”
Chi Jue didn’t want to dwell too much on those warm, trivial details. She wrapped her arms around herself, from a criminal psychology perspective, it was a subconscious act of self-protection.
Her eyes held pure sincerity, even mixed with an unwavering intensity, as she stared directly at Su Qiao, just to convey that every word she spoke was genuine.
Su Qiao bit her lower lip anxiously. She would never doubt a single word from Dr. Chi, but she couldn’t help questioning her own position.
What role was she playing while listening to this story?
Was she just a vague interest hiding behind the label of a friend?
Hah, such an unmentionable status after all.
“So, you…”
Do you want to reconcile? Do you still love her? What’s the point of telling me all this?
Su Qiao screamed inwardly, but not a single word dared to escape her lips. Each syllable felt like a thorn in her throat, a pain that came in waves.
“So, someone like that isn’t worth my love, and reconciliation is out of the question. I told you this to ease your mind and to clarify that I’m single. I’m not so desperate as to go back to old flames.”
Chi Jue could still easily read Su Qiao’s thoughts. Every reply was firm and resolute, each word carefully chosen to embrace the insecure and timid “little bear.”
This was the courage she was giving Su Qiao, the courage to overcome any obstacle and be together.
Su Qiao relaxed into a smile, releasing the tension and fear that had gripped her heart. If Dr. Chi said she didn’t love that person, then she didn’t. Every word from her carried immeasurable weight.
“What… kind of flowers do you like?” Su Qiao’s heart skipped a beat. Why had she asked such an irrelevant question?
“You guess~” Chi Jue cautiously moved closer, taking the “little bear’s” hands in hers. She reserved her aloofness for the world, but her tenderness was reserved solely for the person before her.
“You definitely don’t like roses.” Su Qiao’s smile remained wistful, the metaphorical rose hinting at that ungrateful someone.
“Who said that? I’d love it if you gave me red roses.” Chi Jue’s rebuttal was like a subtle tease, stirring the restless and suspicious heart of a certain someone.
Noticing the shy blush blooming on the “little bear’s” ears, she seized the moment to make a request: “Promise me, if we ever argue because of misunderstandings or disagreements, we’ll talk it out face to face and never let it drag on overnight.”
Su Qiao stared wide-eyed, stunned. So, Dr. Chi cared about her feelings even more than she’d imagined. She nodded firmly, like an obedient child: “I promise. Should we pinky swear?”
“Of course! What if you try to weasel out later?” With that affirmation, Chi Jue’s gloom lifted. She playfully tilted her head, her eyes sparkling like a galaxy embracing the figure before her.
Su Qiao, who was quite a bit taller, leaned down slightly. Though younger, she used her height to feign maturity, ruffling Chi Jue’s hair. “Sis, don’t you know? You’re the one who’s always being cheeky.”
Chi Jue wanted to swat away the hand messing up her hair, but she couldn’t bring herself to ruin the cozy moment. Pouting, she protested, “I object! I’m not like that.”
Suppressing their playful banter, Su Qiao voiced the doubt in her heart: “Given how quickly you took the elevator home, you could have easily avoided An Jiaqin’s harassment. Why did you end up cornered in the hallway?”
“Guess~”
She couldn’t very well explain outright that the whole commotion was just an excuse to go back to the garage and retrieve the little bear plushie, could she?
Chi Jue tucked this little secret deep into her heart, her mischievous expression blending with the innate coolness in her bones to create an adorable contrast. She simply changed the subject: “I haven’t even asked you yet, how did you know I was in trouble?”
Yet she was so contradictory, secretly hoping Su Qiao could guess a thing or two, that would be an unexpected reward, a sign of mutual understanding.
“Guess~” This time, Su Qiao had learned her lesson, mimicking Dr. Chi’s playful tone, thoroughly tantalizing that curious heart.
“I won’t guess.” Chi Jue sank into the sofa, crossing her arms with a huff, clearly sulking.
Su Qiao sat down beside her, mirroring her posture by crossing her own arms and shaking her head playfully: “Then I won’t guess either.”
Such a cheeky reply managed to ruffle Chi Jue’s usual composure, even stirring up a hint of resentment.
She realized that beneath the “little bear’s” surface lay an unyielding stubbornness, both irritating and endearing.
Without warning, she grabbed Su Qiao’s tie and pulled her close, commanding word by word: “I suggest you’d better guess, or else I’ll lock you in a dark room.”
Su Qiao, losing her balance, leaned toward that criminally enticing face. Instinctively, she raised a hand to brace against the back of the sofa, but the boundary she had tried to maintain between them had already become meaningless.
Disturbed by this blatant crossing of lines, she lost her composure, and the frantic beating of her heart quickened its pace.
This woman, so hard to read, always carried an air of cool aloofness, never losing her grace over trivial matters. But the pouting version before her felt more real, someone who would sulk over something as minor as guessing or not guessing.
Su Qiao made a mental note: today, Dr. Chi seemed particularly fond of tugging at her tie.
How could Chi Jue not feel embarrassed? Her fair skin made the blush on her cheeks all the more obvious, yet she refused to let go of the tie in her hand. She could only stiffen her neck and lift her chin defiantly, her eyes flashing a warning that said, “If you don’t behave, I’ll teach you a lesson.”
She forgot that Officer Su, with just one hand, could easily subdue the unruly An Jiaqin. Her own frail, strengthless frame was no match for any resistance.
Su Qiao’s senses were filled with the scent of Chi Jue, a mix of disinfectant and cedarwood. She didn’t know at which exact moment she had lost her senses, but every word and action that followed slipped beyond the restraints of reason.
“Dr. Chi, you’ve got quite the nerve, daring to put a police officer in confinement. I wonder where you plan to lock me up?” Meeting Chi Jue’s provocative gaze, she withdrew her supporting arm and wrapped it firmly around that slender waist, allowing herself to lose balance and press naturally against the sofa.
As Chi Jue fell backward, she felt Su Qiao’s warm lips brush past her ear, sending an electric tingle that swept through every nerve. She turned her head to look at the troublemaking “little bear,” once again entertaining the wicked thought of stealing a kiss.
Su Qiao’s lips were tingling too. She didn’t dare dwell on the fleeting sweetness but instinctively struggled to sit up. However, the hand gripping her tie below pulled sharply again, drawing her back into the embrace.
The cool fingertips traced from her brow, over the high bridge of her nose, and finally rested on her soft lips, sketching out a tantalizingly ambiguous aura.
Chi Jue lazily tilted her head, a sly smile curving in her eyes, with temptation hidden in every glance and smile: “I’ll lock you in the closet to play hide-and-seek.”
Su Qiao fiercely suppressed the wicked thoughts that sent shivers down her spine. At that moment, all she wanted was to capture the mischievous fingertip on her lips and gently nibble at that damp temptation with her teeth.
Perhaps afraid that Dr. Chi would see through such naughty intentions, she tightened her arms around her waist, her breathing growing uncontrollably chaotic.
Suddenly, the ringing of a phone shattered the desire teetering on the edge of bursting forth.
Su Qiao fumbled hastily for her phone, only realizing as she tried to get up that Chi Jue hadn’t let her go. The hand that had released the necktie now wrapped around her neck instead.
She buried her face deeply into the fragrant hollow of her neck, committing the boldest act of her life, yet it was nothing more than a greedy, deep breath.
This time, she didn’t hold back, deliberately letting her breath kiss the delicate skin she didn’t dare touch with her lips.
After a few seconds of silence, the accidentally answered phone erupted with an exasperating scold, “You little rascal, what time is it? If you don’t come home now, don’t bother coming back at all!”
The grumbling from the little old lady painted the intimate moment with a layer of comical levity.
Warm, moist breaths brushed rhythmically against the sensitive skin, and Chi Jue narrowed her eyes in pleasure.
Holding her like a fluffy big dog, she affectionately nuzzled her cheek before releasing her arms and ending the mischief.
“Go on home, you little rascal. We should listen to Grandma~”
