- Chapter 47 - Confirmation
Returning to the apartment, Pei Ye rushed to his room at top speed. He tore off his ragged, blood-stained clothes almost violently and ducked into the bathroom.
Hot water washed over his body, revealing the crisscrossing scars and fresh wounds beneath. He cleaned himself quickly, even roughly, as his mind had already flown back to that intensive care room. His heart was still racing, replaying the previous conversation with Jiang Si. His entire being was filled with thoughts of his Master.
Master. I like him so much.
Master seemed to have allowed that kind of intimate contact. I am so happy.
Pei Ye finished his shower quickly and rubbed his hair haphazardly with a towel. He changed into a clean black training suit and even instinctively sniffed himself to check for any lingering scent of blood. Then, he hurried back to the ward.
His movements were cautious as he pushed the door open. Jiang Si was awake and looking out the window. Hearing the movement, he turned his head. His gaze swept over Pei Ye, noting the damp hair, clean face, and fresh clothes. He seemed slightly satisfied.
“Come here,” he said.
Pei Ye walked over and stood by the bed, feeling somewhat at a loss. After that kiss, what should come next? What should he do? What should he say?
Jiang Si looked at his nervous yet expectant expression and suddenly found it somewhat amusing. He patted the edge of the bed. “Sit down.”
Pei Ye sat as instructed, his body ramrod straight.
“Lower your head,” Jiang Si added.
Pei Ye did not understand why, but he obediently lowered his head. Jiang Si raised his hand—the one without the IV drip—and gently brushed aside the damp hair on Pei Ye’s forehead. He checked a shallow, clotted scratch underneath. His movements were light, carrying an unprecedented tenderness that felt almost like a scrutiny.
“Stupid,” he remarked. To get himself into such a state just to block bullets.
Pei Ye trembled at the touch of those fingertips and the ambiguous intimacy in that single word. He did not dare look up, but the tips of his ears turned red.
“Master,” he whispered, his voice slightly hoarse.
“Mhm,” Jiang Si responded. His hand did not leave; instead, it slid down to gently pinch Pei Ye’s chin, forcing him to look up.
Their eyes met again. Jiang Si’s gaze was deep. It was no longer entirely cold or calculating, but mixed with something more complex and difficult to discern. It was confirmation, it was possession, and perhaps a trace of an emotion he himself did not fully understand: care.
“Remember,” Jiang Si’s voice was low and clear, each word striking Pei Ye’s heart. “You are mine. From the inside out, from life until death.”
He paused, locking eyes with Pei Ye, whose gaze had instantly become incredibly bright. He continued, “It was true before, it is true now, and it will be true in the future. There is no difference, and no change is needed.”
This was not sweet talk, and it hardly qualified as a romantic confession. It was a declaration in Jiang Si’s style: cold, forceful, and absolute. Yet, it gave Pei Ye more peace and ecstasy than any promise ever could.
No difference? No, the difference was massive. Previously, he was merely a weapon and a possession belonging to his Master. Now, he finally seemed to have touched a spark of real warmth beneath that layer of ice, and he was allowed to keep it.
“Yes.” Pei Ye’s voice choked with emotion. He nodded vigorously, his eyes burning with devotion. “I am forever yours. Only yours.”
Looking at that gaze which seemed ready to catch fire, the inexplicable irritability in Jiang Si’s heart finally settled. He released Pei Ye’s chin and leaned back against the pillows, closing his eyes as if exhausted.
“I am tired,” he said flatly.
Pei Ye immediately stood up. “Please rest. I will not disturb you.” He was like a child who had received a priceless treasure, his joy nearly overflowing, yet he was careful not to cause any disturbance.
“Stay right here,” Jiang Si commanded without opening his eyes.
“Yes,” Pei Ye replied instantly, unable to suppress the excitement in his voice.
He sat back down in the chair by the bed, his back perfectly straight. He did not blink as he watched Jiang Si’s face, as if he could never see enough of him.
Warm sunlight filled the room, and the medical equipment hummed with a steady rhythm. The air smelled of disinfectant, but a silent, close bond was quietly growing. The ice had melted, and a warm current was rushing forth.
Both men remained silent by unspoken agreement, yet it felt as though everything had been said. Without the need for more words, their relationship was completely confirmed in a way only the two of them understood. There was no longer any doubt.
