Don't Bait Me Anymore! - Chapter 6
Sheng Yan was jolted awake by his alarm.
Still half-asleep, without even opening his eyes, he instinctively reached for his phone to silence the alarm.
But before his fingers could find the device, the vibration stopped. At the same moment, his fingertips brushed against something firm yet yielding.
The unfamiliar sensation made Sheng Yan’s eyes snap open, and he instantly came fully awake.
The alarm had been on Gu Zhiyi’s phone, and right now, the pads of Sheng Yan’s fingers were pressed against Gu Zhiyi’s chest.
Perhaps due to just waking up, Gu Zhiyi’s brow was slightly furrowed, making him look even colder and more detached than he had at the bar last night. Not a trace of the passion from the previous night remained.
Yet what flooded Sheng Yan’s mind was the image of Gu Zhiyi last night, when the man had been consumed by primal instinct. He remembered the dark, smoldering look in Gu Zhiyi’s eyes, a mix of restraint and predatory desire, and the deep, hoarse panting that had echoed beside his ear.
That sound had been warm, burning hot.
Their gazes met. Sheng Yan smirked and spoke first, “Good morning. What time is it?”
It was Thursday, a workday, so it was normal for Gu Zhiyi to have classes. Sheng Yan should have gone to the office too, but he’d specifically asked his assistant to reschedule necessary meetings for the afternoon, which was why he hadn’t set an alarm.
Sheng Yan had assumed it was around seven o’clock, but Gu Zhiyi’s thin lips parted slightly as he replied in a low voice, “Good morning. It’s six twenty.”
His voice still carried the slight hoarseness unique to early mornings.
Sheng Yan paused, then asked instinctively, “Is your school far?”
Gu Zhiyi shook his head. “Not far. Four subway stops.”
After a brief pause, as if sensing Sheng Yan’s confusion, he added concisely, “I’m going for my morning run.”
Sheng Yan’s surprise deepened.
While he knew about Gu Zhiyi’s fixed morning running habit from the night before, still…
“Looks like last night’s workout didn’t quite meet the quota,” Sheng Yan raised an eyebrow, his tone teasing. “Is that right, Xiao Gu?”
They had been intimate twice last night, and after showering and tidying up, they finally fell asleep well past two in the morning.
Hearing Sheng Yan’s words, Gu Zhiyi’s breath hitched again.
He was still unaccustomed to Sheng Yan’s ability to easily turn proper phrases into suggestive remarks, and also because of… that pet name.
In an instant, Sheng Yan’s words dragged him back to last night.
When Gu Zhiyi had asked, “Is this the place, Gege?” he had genuinely thought he had finally gained the upper hand.
But in the next moment, Sheng Yan had reclaimed control with a single sentence.
Gu Zhiyi’s teasing and provocations didn’t make Sheng Yan feel the slightest bit shy. Instead, he effortlessly retorted, “If you’ve already figured it out, why ask? Hmph… Do you want me to praise your impressive length?”
Objectively speaking, it was true. Sheng Yan’s depth was remarkable; without sufficient length, one might never reach the right spot.
Gu Zhiyi was so provoked by this remark that he nearly climaxed prematurely. He fell silent for a long time, his thin lips pressed tightly together, refusing to utter another word.
It wasn’t until Sheng Yan’s teasing words reignited his temper that he spoke again. By then, the two had fully synchronized into a rhythm that pleased them both. Between soft breaths, Sheng Yan asked, “What… lost your voice? Want to be a mute little puppy, huh?”
Mute little puppy.
Though Gu Zhiyi was usually taciturn, he had never in his twenty years heard anyone describe him that way. No one would dare.
Yet, to Gu Zhiyi’s own surprise, Sheng Yan’s words didn’t offend him. If anything, they filled him with shame.
This shame fueled his desire to possess Sheng Yan more forcefully, until those beautiful lips could no longer form coherent words, leaving only broken gasps in their wake.
With this thought, Gu Zhiyi acted.
He suddenly increased his pace, and as he’d hoped, heard Sheng Yan’s soft, melodious moans rise in response.
They sounded beautiful, like a song without a melody.
Only after the storm had completely subsided, during the lull between the waves, did Gu Zhiyi, unwilling to be outdone, respond to Sheng Yan’s teasing remark: “Because I want to hear your voice more.”
So I’ll keep my words brief.
As if surprised he still remembered, Sheng Yan, who was lying across his waist, chuckled again. “You should have said sooner that you liked hearing it. I could have satisfied you more.”
To Gu Zhiyi, Sheng Yan possessed a powerful allure utterly unlike anyone his age.
It was the uninhibited confidence of a mature man, utterly at ease with his desires.
Truly captivating.
“What are you spacing out about so early in the morning?” Seeing Gu Zhiyi lost in thought, Sheng Yan’s teasing spirit stirred. “Still sleepy? Want your brother to help you… wake up?”
As he spoke, his slender fingers once again slipped expertly under the air-conditioned blanket.
The implication was obvious.
By the time Gu Zhiyi snapped back to attention, Sheng Yan’s hand was already very close.
For a young man newly initiated into intimacy, this was an almost impossible temptation to refuse.
In that instant, Gu Zhiyi was already reliving the sensation of being enveloped in warmth…
He suddenly closed his eyes, then finally gripped the slender wrist that was so close.
With a desperate, all-or-nothing force, he pulled Sheng Yan’s hand away.
“We can’t continue,” Gu Zhiyi said in a low voice. “If we do, we’ll miss our morning run.”
As if afraid he would regret it, Gu Zhiyi threw off the covers, jumped out of bed, and strode out of the bedroom toward the bathroom.
He didn’t dare look back at Sheng Yan.
Sheng Yan watched Gu Zhiyi’s tall, retreating back as he fled. After a moment of stunned silence, he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
This man… he’s terrifyingly disciplined.
While Gu Zhiyi was in the shower, Sheng Yan didn’t rush to get up. He casually picked up his phone, unlocked it, and savored this rare moment of lazy indulgence. After all, he’d always been swamped with work, forced to rise with the alarm every morning, often relying on cold showers to wake up.
Having ignored his phone all night, his WeChat messages had piled up, work-related and casual chats alike.
Sheng Yan skimmed through them and clicked on Yan Han’s conversation first.
The message, sent two hours ago, contained only one line:
Boss Sheng, how was it?
Later, the man went to another after-party and stayed out even later than Sheng Yan.
Too lazy to type, Sheng Yan simply pressed the voice message button and spoke: “The experience was excellent. Young people really know how to get things done.”
Yan Han replied instantly with a voice message that made it clear he was quite drunk: “I get it, I get it! Hearing Boss Sheng’s voice, I understand everything!”
Sheng Yan was momentarily speechless. He listened to his own voice message again and realized his voice was indeed hoarse. No wonder Gu Zhiyi had looked at him with such a meaningful gaze earlier.
After chatting casually with Yan Han for a while longer, Sheng Yan found himself increasingly drawn to the memories of last night.
What he had told Yan Han was true:
The experience had been excellent, even better than he had anticipated.
Their bodies were perfectly suited to each other.
The more he savored the memory, the more Sheng Yan felt like a glutton who had stumbled upon an exquisite delicacy. One taste simply wasn’t enough.
He wanted another time, and then another after that.
Just as he was thinking this, footsteps suddenly sounded at the door.
Sheng Yan instinctively looked up and saw Gu Zhiyi returning after his shower.
Even…
Even this man had already dressed in his shirt and trousers, the shirt buttoned up to the very last button, exuding an air of asceticism.
Only Sheng Yan knew that beneath the thin fabric of his shirt, his entire back was covered in scratches of varying depths.
His masterpiece.
A sudden, urgent thought struck him. After staring at Gu Zhiyi for two seconds, he blurted out, “Given how much we both enjoyed last night, would you consider developing a long-term, stable relationship with me?”
The meaning of “this kind of relationship” was obvious, they both knew exactly what he meant.
Gu Zhiyi, who had entered to grab his phone, froze in place, seemingly caught off guard by Sheng Yan’s proposal.
He didn’t speak immediately, his thin lips tightening further.
A question had been swirling in Gu Zhiyi’s mind since last night, but he hadn’t dared to ask it.
This practiced ease of Sheng Yan’s suggested he’d likely had many such relationships before.
Not knowing what Gu Zhiyi was thinking, Sheng Yan waited for a moment before unlocking his phone and tapping it twice. He then turned the screen toward Gu Zhiyi.
Gu Zhiyi instinctively lowered his gaze to see a physical examination report dated the previous month.
“Everything’s healthy,” Sheng Yan said with a smile, his lips curving. “Now you can relax, can’t you?”
“I wasn’t…”
Gu Zhiyi instinctively wanted to say, “I wasn’t thinking about that,” but he caught himself mid-sentence, only managing to grumble, “Showing me this now… isn’t that too late?”
After all, they had been intimate twice the night before, and he hadn’t even used a condom.
Looking back now, Gu Zhiyi realized how utterly out of his mind he had been.
Before last night, he had never imagined he would have a one-night stand, let alone that his brain, consumed by primal desire, would forget about the need for a physical check-up and dare to go without protection.
It was absurd.
Sheng Yan blinked innocently. “You didn’t ask me for one last night either.”
This was undeniably Gu Zhiyi’s fault, so he didn’t argue further. “And you didn’t ask for mine.”
Sheng Yan thought, The guy practically had “I’m a virgin” written all over his face last night. What was there to ask for?
But what he said was, “Because I trust you, and I trust my judgment of people.”
This wasn’t entirely untrue.
Yet it clearly pleased Gu Zhiyi more than the blunt truth.
The sharp angles of Gu Zhiyi’s jawline visibly softened by a noticeable degree.
He’s surprisingly easy to coax, Sheng Yan thought.
But after a moment of silence, Gu Zhiyi didn’t immediately agree. Instead, he asked, “How long can I consider this?”
This time, it was Sheng Yan’s turn to be taken aback.
He had originally assumed that, given how deeply Gu Zhiyi had been immersed in him the night before, he would have agreed without hesitation once he confirmed he was completely healthy.
However, since Gu Zhiyi had asked, Sheng Yan didn’t press the matter. Instead, he casually asked, as if seeking input, “A week?”
“Alright,” Gu Zhiyi nodded, repeating, “I’ll give you my answer in a week.”
With that, he approached the bedside table, picked up his phone, unlocked it, opened WeChat, and actively added Sheng Yan as a friend.
“We’ll stay in touch on WeChat,” Gu Zhiyi said after adding him. He put his phone away and prepared to leave. “I should go now, or I’ll really be late for my morning run.”
Sheng Yan leaned back against the headboard and hummed in acknowledgment. He politely asked, “Which university do you attend? I can have my driver take you there.”
“S University,” Gu Zhiyi replied briefly. “The subway is very convenient. No need to trouble you.”
Sheng Yan didn’t say any more, instead waving goodbye to Gu Zhiyi.
Gu Zhiyi stood at the doorway for another two seconds, his thin lips moving slightly, but he ultimately said nothing more and turned to leave.
Only after the sound of his footsteps faded and the door had closed completely did Sheng Yan let out a soft “tsk,” a flicker of interest in his eyes.
Gu Zhiyi was not as easy to “handle” as he had initially assumed. Yet rather than feeling disappointed, Sheng Yan found himself even more intrigued.
After all, the more difficult a beast was to tame, the greater the sense of accomplishment when it was finally subdued.
Completely awake now, Sheng Yan texted Yan Han, who was still awake, asking him to send over a new set of clothes. Ignoring Yan Han’s drunken rambling, he tossed his phone aside and got out of bed to enter the bathroom.
Forty minutes later, refreshed and dressed in the crisp new shirt and trousers delivered by Yan Han’s assistant, Sheng Yan went downstairs to the restaurant for breakfast.
He didn’t want to experience another hypoglycemic episode and faint again.
Though it was called breakfast, Sheng Yan only served himself a small bowl of vegetable congee, sipping it slowly and deliberately.
It was still early, not yet eight o’clock. Sheng Yan was contemplating whether to go back to sleep after breakfast or check out of the hotel when his phone vibrated twice.
It was a message from his personal assistant:
Mr. Sheng, are you awake? I just received an invitation for a university lecture tomorrow. Would you like to attend?
Invitations like these had become commonplace for Sheng Yan, especially in the last two years as his personal brand had gained some notoriety.
However, Sheng Yan had never enjoyed such events. He disliked standing on podiums to recount his so-called success stories and spout long-winded, motivational platitudes. To him, it was all utterly pointless.
Moreover, Sheng Yan was now determined to change his lifestyle and devote more time to his personal life. This made him even less inclined to attend such functions.
Therefore, he had already decided to decline the invitation.
But before doing so, Sheng Yan casually clicked on the invitation to take a quick look.
The moment he saw the sender, his eyebrows shot up.
As if by sheer coincidence, the invitation was from S University.
Gu Zhiyi’s alma mater.
