Do Villains Have to Be Heartthrobs Too? [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 7
A Bully? More Like A Grievance-Filled Package…
Yun Zhixue felt suffocated by the crowd surrounding him. The unfamiliar scent of men, a mixture of sweat and smoke, rushed toward him, making him feel incredibly uncomfortable.
He furrowed his brows and pursed his lips tightly. It was not out of fear; he was simply angry. Why were they surrounding him like this? They were truly smelly and kept saying strange things, making it hard for him to catch his breath.
His eyes widened, his face flushing red with anger. His voice trembled slightly as he raised it: “You all, move away! Give my schoolbag back!”
He reached out, trying to grab the bag held in the arms of one of the men, but the person dodged back with a leering grin: “Don’t be in such a hurry, Little Princess. Let us have a sniff.”
Before he could finish, a bony hand with a few grazes shot out from the side, precisely and forcefully snatching the bag away.
The movement was so fast it almost stirred up the air.
The group surrounding Yun Zhixue froze and turned their heads in unison.
Xu Chi was standing there, having appeared out of nowhere. He was tall, his school uniform zipper casually left open to reveal a black T-shirt underneath. His bangs were slightly messy, but his eyes were as sharp as blades, coldly sweeping over every one of them.
“Get lost.” He spat out the words. His voice was low, yet carried an unquestionable sense of oppression.
The five men shrank back instantly under his gaze. They knew Xu Chi; they had been beaten to a pulp by him just yesterday, and their bodies still ached. However, in front of the “Little Princess”—even though they were the same gender, they felt something was different—they put up a front, not wanting to lose face.
The tall leader stuck his neck out, bluffing: “Xu Chi, this is a matter between us and Young Master Yun. As a transfer student, you should mind your own business!”
Xu Chi sneered, took a step forward, and looked down at him: “Say that again?”
The tall guy was forced half a step back by the hostility radiating from Xu Chi. His face turned pale as he recalled the stabbing pain of being punched in the stomach yesterday. He immediately turned cowardly, muttering, “You are ruthless,” while his eyes involuntarily drifted toward Yun Zhixue, who was shielded behind Xu Chi.
Xu Chi noticed his gaze, his eyes turning icy. He suddenly lifted his foot, making a motion to kick. The five men were so frightened they trembled and, without daring to stay any longer, pushed each other and scurried away in a sorry state.
The students gathered around to watch the excitement also quickly dispersed, fearing they might be affected.
Only Xu Chi and Yun Zhixue remained.
Yun Zhixue was still shaken, panting slightly. His cheeks were flushed from the shoving and tension, and his eyes were glistening with moisture. He looked at the tall back blocking him, then at his own schoolbag dangling casually in Xu Chi’s hand. He opened his mouth, but did not know what to say.
The System screamed in his mind: [Xu Chi! Why is he here! Little Xue, pay attention! Maintain the persona! He is your enemy now! Quick, snatch the schoolbag back from him! Scold him for meddling!]
Yun Zhixue looked at Xu Chi’s broad shoulders and the hand holding the bag. He hesitated. This person had just helped him, had he not? If he were to be so ungrateful, it would not be very good.
Xu Chi turned around and handed the schoolbag to him. His gaze fell on Yun Zhixue’s reddened eyes and slightly pursed, alluring lips. His Adam’s apple bobbed almost imperceptibly. His tone was deliberately flat, even a bit blunt: “It is yours.”
Yun Zhixue reached out slowly, took the bag, and whispered: “Thank you.”
Xu Chi raised an eyebrow. Thank you? Hearing that word from this little young master was truly novel. He stared at Yun Zhixue’s lowered eyelashes, suddenly remembering the slender ankle he had grabbed yesterday, as well as that flash of snowy white skin, and looked at the little young master who seemed a bit frightened.
That inexplicable itch in his heart flared up again.
“Do they do this often?” Xu Chi asked, his gaze sweeping over Yun Zhixue’s slightly messy skirt and collar.
Yun Zhixue shook his head and answered honestly: “Before yesterday, they were quite obedient.” According to the System, they do things for money, even if their competence is lacking.
“Obedient?” Xu Chi sneered, implying something else: “I think they were driven by lust.”
Yun Zhixue did not quite understand how it reached the point of lust. He looked up, confused, at Xu Chi, his clear eyes reflecting the other boy’s slightly roguish face.
Xu Chi felt his heart skip a beat under that gaze. He looked away, his tone becoming aggressive again: “Stay away from those people from now on. Also,” he paused, his gaze landing back on Yun Zhixue’s face with a bit of scrutiny, “Did your brother never teach you to call for help loudly or just run when people surround you? You just stood there like a fool?”
Yun Zhixue was dazed by the lecture and subconsciously retorted: “I am not a fool.” He just had not encountered this situation before. Besides, sometimes when he was too busy and had too many companions to soothe, there would be times when he was sitting on one person’s lap, while another rubbed his hand, and others held his feet.
With it happening so often, he sometimes could not react in time.
“Heh.” Xu Chi was almost amused by his soft rebuttal and quickly braced his face: “Fine, you are not a fool. You just look easy to bully.”
As he spoke, he suddenly took a step forward, leaning in close to Yun Zhixue.
Yun Zhixue was startled and shrunk back, only to be stopped by Xu Chi’s calloused hand pressing against his neck. He even unconsciously grazed the delicate skin.
Pinned down and with nowhere to hide, Yun Zhixue had to lift his head to see what Xu Chi was doing. He saw Xu Chi reach out, not to harm him, but to gently hook his crooked tie with his finger, straightening it in a leisurely manner. His fingers brushed against Yun Zhixue’s delicate skin, sending a faint shiver through him.
“Dressed so beautifully,” Xu Chi lowered his voice, carrying an indescribable tone, “You have to be more careful, Little Princess.”
After saying that, he stood up straight, no longer looking at Yun Zhixue’s instantly flushed face and shocked eyes. He stuffed his hands back into his pockets and turned, walking lazily toward the teaching building, leaving only one sentence behind: “The class bell is about to ring.”
Yun Zhixue stood in place, touching his neck where he had been touched; a trace of strange warmth seemed to linger there. His mind was a mess—the System’s screaming, Xu Chi’s strange words and actions, and the uncomfortable surrounding by those five men—all intertwined.
[Little Xue! Little Xue! Wake up!] The System was heartbroken, [He is flirting with you! He is taking advantage of you! And you are blushing! The task! Our bully task! You should rush up, kick him, and call him a busybody!]
Yun Zhixue recovered, watching Xu Chi’s departing figure, and whispered an explanation to the System: [He just helped me. Besides, kicking people does not seem right, and I am blushing because the skin he touched is itchy and uncomfortable.] Kicking yesterday did not work, and he almost fell over.
System: […] It felt like its core program was about to malfunction. Why does the host always have strange persistence in strange places? Fine.
[Forget it,] the System gave up, [Go to the classroom! This isn’t a task anyway; it doesn’t matter if the persona slips occasionally. Let us go to the classroom, class is about to start, and then we will begin our first task of the day: Bully the straight-A student cannon fodder!]
Yun Zhixue nodded, shouldered his bag, straightened his skirt, and headed toward the teaching building. As he walked, he thought, Straight-A student cannon fodder… who is that? I am sorry.
He had to bully someone again.
In the classroom of Class 2, Grade 3.
Following the System’s guidance, Yun Zhixue walked to the second-to-last row by the window. This was the original owner’s exclusive seat—good view, spacious, and not studying generally would not affect his classmates.
Just as Yun Zhixue put his bag into the drawer, the System popped up again.
[Little Xue, look at your desk mate. This is the straight-A student cannon fodder, named Chu Chao. You need to bully him.]
Yun Zhixue looked over. The classmate he had to bully, Chu Chao, was already flipping through a vocabulary book. He was wearing his school uniform with his back straight and wearing black-rimmed glasses. He did not even spare a glance at Yun Zhixue when the latter looked over.
Yun Zhixue silently apologized to this classmate in his heart.
However, when Yun Zhixue turned back to look at the course schedule on the blackboard and took his math book out of the drawer, Chu Chao’s nostrils flared, and he inhaled discreetly.
The hand resting on the vocabulary book trembled slightly. The pupils behind his glasses were as black as ink.
So fragrant. Chu Chao tilted his head slightly, watching the hair that swayed with the little desk mate’s movements—it was as smooth as silk. Chu Chao touched the ends of his little desk mate’s hair without anyone noticing.
Then, he openly covered his nose to sniff.
He thought to himself, what shampoo is this? But it might also be the little desk mate’s natural body scent.
Yun Zhixue and the System knew nothing. The System was still explaining what to do and how to do it.
[Little Xue, when you stand up later, grab your desk mate’s book, throw it on the ground, stick out your little leather shoe and step on it, then curse him: “Why are you studying? You have no discernment at all; do you not know I need to sleep?”]
[Then look at your desk mate with full contempt and say arrogantly: “It is too late to apologize now. How about this? My stool is a bit hard; take off your school uniform jacket and use it as a cushion for me, and I will pretend this never happened.”]
Yun Zhixue felt he was too mean and hesitated.
[Must I do this? Stepping on people’s books and using their clothes as a cushion…]
The System was certain and insistent.
[Little Xue, I know you are a good baby and do not want to do this, but this is a task; it is unavoidable. And class is starting soon! If you do not do it now, you will have to do it during class! You do not want to leave the teacher with a bad impression of you bullying a classmate, do you?]
The System had been with the host for a day and had vaguely figured out how to get the host to perform tasks. This line really worked.
Yun Zhixue immediately panicked; he did not want the teacher to hate him. He took a deep breath, whispered “I am sorry” to the focused Chu Chao in his heart, and mustered his courage. Following the System’s instructions, he stood up abruptly.
The movement was a bit loud; the friction between the chair legs and the floor made a “screeching” sound, drawing the attention of several nearby classmates. Chu Chao stopped reciting vocabulary, adjusted his glasses, turned his head, and looked at him calmly.
Meeting those overly calm eyes hidden behind the lenses, Yun Zhixue’s heart skipped a beat, and he almost forgot his lines. He quickly looked away, his gaze landing on the thick English dictionary Chu Chao had spread on the table.
This is it!
He reached out, his fair, slender fingers grabbing the edge of the dictionary, trying to pull it over. But the dictionary seemed to be held down firmly; he pulled it once but it did not move. Instead, his fingertips turned white from the effort.
Chu Chao’s gaze fell on the fingers that were shaking slightly from the exertion, then slowly moved up, scanning the reddened, alluring lips pursed from tension and the fluttering long eyelashes.
So cute.
Yun Zhixue was anxious and added a bit more force, finally pulling the dictionary over and throwing it on the floor!
“Clatter!”
The dictionary hit the ground with a dull thud, and the pages scattered slightly. Yun Zhixue’s heart jumped with the sound.
Then, he stiffened his face and went for it: “Why are you studying! It is so noisy! Do you not know I need to sleep?”
Everyone around was shocked by Yun Zhixue’s unreasonable behavior!
School just started; what kind of sleeping is that?
Then they looked at his face, which was vibrant even when he was angry, and felt weirdly that it did not matter.
Yun Zhixue felt his face heat up under everyone’s gaze, a flush of rouge spreading across his cheeks. He subconsciously bit his lower lip, then looked at the properly worn school uniform jacket of his desk mate.
“It is too late to apologize now!” He tried his best to recall the lines given by the System. “How about this? My stool is a bit hard; take off your school uniform jacket and use it as a cushion for me, and I will pretend this never happened!”
After the last word, Yun Zhixue’s heart was beating so fast it felt like it would jump out, and his cheeks were burning red. He almost dared not look at Chu Chao’s reaction, feeling all the gazes around him piercing through his body.
The classroom was dead silent.
It seemed like there was even the sound of a camera taking a picture. Yun Zhixue felt extremely aggrieved in his heart. He thought everyone must think he was a super villain, and after class, someone would probably put a sack over his head and beat him to uphold justice for his desk mate.
Thinking of this, his eyes even began to moisten involuntarily.
Chu Chao watched him quietly, the gaze behind his lenses deep and unreadable. He looked at the little desk mate’s face—it was truly too cute. It is just—a little evil cat.
But the little evil cat was simply too cute, thinking he was bullying people when he had no lethality at all.
Chu Chao stood up. The nearby students even thought this previously aloof straight-A student could not tolerate such an insult and was going to hit someone!
The students looked at the straight-A student’s shoulders, not knowing what he ate to make them so broad, and then looked at the little young master’s white face, sharp chin, and slender arms and shoulders wrapped in a suit uniform. One punch.
The little young master would definitely have broken bones!
The classmate hurriedly stood up to try to stop him. It is just a jacket; what is the big deal?
But he saw the straight-A student slowly unzipping his jacket, then folding it neatly and placing it on the little young master’s seat.
Yun Zhixue watched Chu Chao’s actions, stunned.
He… he really took it off?
Chu Chao bent over, his eyes scanning the slender ankles wrapped in white socks, then restrained his gaze. He picked up the dictionary that had been thrown on the ground, gently brushed off the dust, and placed it back on the table. Then he turned his head and looked at Yun Zhixue, who was still standing there in a daze, his voice neither high nor low: “Is that okay?”
Yun Zhixue met his gaze, the eyes hidden behind the lenses so calm they made him panic. He nodded subconsciously, his voice as light as a mosquito’s hum: “Um.”
Chu Chao turned back, sat down, and picked up the dictionary to continue reciting vocabulary, as if nothing had just happened.
Yun Zhixue stood stiffly in place, looking at the school uniform jacket spread neatly on his stool. The dark blue fabric was washed until it was a bit white.
He suddenly felt a blockage in his heart. This was different from what he expected. He thought Chu Chao would be angry, would resist, would scold him—he might have been able to bite the bullet and continue acting. But now… the other person was terrifyingly calm, even cooperating with him.
This made him feel like a real, unreasonable bully.
[Little Xue! Why are you dazed! Sit down quickly!] The System urged, [The task is complete! Although I do not know why this cannon fodder is different from the novel, the effect is achieved! Look, everyone is watching you, thinking you are bullying your classmate! The persona is stable!]
Yun Zhixue sat down slowly. The school uniform under his bottom was soft, separating him from the coldness of the hard stool surface. He lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously picking at the folds of his skirt.
[System,] he asked softly in his heart, [Do we have to be like this? I think… this is not good.]
System: [Oh, Little Xue, this is the job of a cannon fodder! If we do not bully people, how can the love path of the main character gong and shou appear bright and moving? We are just that smelly and hard stepping stone! And little Xue, do you really not think it is quite fun to be a cannon fodder? You know, in the early stages of the plot, even the protagonist at the center of the world cannot do anything to us villain cannon fodder. They have to wait until we finish our KPL quota of being evil, making this mistake, then that mistake, before they finally react and teach the villain cannon fodder a lesson. Look at how fun it is to bully the protagonist, bully the male supporting character, and bully all kinds of cannon fodder!]
Yun Zhixue hummed softly: [I am not a bad person like the System.]
The System paused and was furious! An unappreciative host!
However, the more pure and “good-hearted” the host appeared, the more rebellious the System became.
Since they were cast as cannon fodder and villains, they had to discard morality. Besides, there would be many such tasks later. If he did not discard unnecessary morality, how could he calmly—and perhaps even enjoy—the tasks? It seems the host is not yet prepared. The System puffed and prepared a “Bad Guy Development Plan” for the host!
On the other side, the classmate who had stood up sat back down in embarrassment under the “What are you going crazy about again?” gaze of his desk mate.
He emoed alone for a while before being poked by his desk mate to look at his phone.
It was a QQ group called Only Copy to Win.
It was a class group without teachers. Most of the students were in it, usually sending homework answers or asking for people to join a game.
He saw that there were already over a hundred messages.
—WTF, sleeping in the morning? Young Master Yun came up with that reason; he is a joke.
—It is too insulting, using someone else’s uniform as a seat cushion!
—The straight-A student could actually endure that? Is he not usually the most arrogant? He does not even let people copy homework.
The classmate watched for a while; most were condemning the little young master. After a photo of Young Master Yun with moist eyes was sent—
His eyelashes were like damp butterflies, trembling; his lips were pink and moist, the cupid’s bow like a little pearl that made one want to hold it in their mouth and lick or bite it; his eyes were like a pond after the rain, clear yet misty, the area around his eyes flushed as if smeared with rouge, as if he had suffered a great grievance.
After a moment of silence, someone said:
—Hey, I am not saying, maybe someone is just naturally sleepy. Look at his eyes; they are a bit red because he is sleepy.
—Exactly; besides, it is just a school uniform; I love helping people.
—Bullying classmates, disrupting classroom order, and crying? What is this operation? The villain accusing the victim first?
—The person upstairs can donate your eyes if you do not need them. That is crying? It is obviously sleepiness! The way his eyelashes are wet is just absolutely stunning…
—I testify! In the morning at the school gate, Young Master Yun was surrounded by those punks who used to follow him, and Xu Chi came to resolve it! Maybe he did not sleep well and was in a bad mood?
—Does being in a bad mood mean he can throw other people’s stuff? And make people take off clothes? Chu Chao’s temper is too good…
The group argued endlessly. Some accused Yun Zhixue of being arrogant, some felt he was particularly different today, and some even secretly took photos from tricky angles, just happening to capture the look of his slightly red eyes and biting his lower lip, with the caption: “A bully? I think it is a grievance-filled package.”
