Distance Formula - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Bai Biqing’s anger had actually dissipated quite a bit by the time she got out of the car. How could she not have noticed the way Su Yanshi’s gaze had been lingering on her?
Now, with the aggrieved-looking Alpha standing at her door telling her “not to be cold to her,” Bai Biqing’s heart softened instantly.
She let out a breath and let a smile curl onto her lips, opening the door a bit wider: “Come in.”
Su Yanshi was still observing her expression; her steps as she entered were tentative, treading on the soft carpet without daring to make a sound, hardly even daring to breathe.
Sometimes Bai Biqing wondered how a person like Su Yanshi could be so well-behaved.
“Teacher Bai,” Su Yanshi called out to her in a small voice.
Bai Biqing was looking down, pouring water for her: “What is it?”
Su Yanshi swayed over to her side in small steps: “Are you still angry with me?”
The Beta let out a lost laugh. She handed her the water, not answering directly: “Does it still hurt?”
Su Yanshi knew what she was talking about and managed to decipher the underlying meaning. Immediately, her heart felt much lighter. She didn’t hide it and nodded: “It doesn’t hurt.”
“Teacher Bai.”
“Mm?”
Bai Biqing was drying her hair, looking at her against the light: “Did you do something bad?”
Su Yanshi nodded: “Yes. I just hit Cui Xiaojiu, and I used my pheromones to suppress her.”
The Beta didn’t say anything for a moment. She continued drying her hair, her movements steady, and asked airily: “Why do you think that’s a bad thing?”
Su Yanshi hung her head halfway: “Because I feel like I’ll be threatened. If the recording is exposed, it will be a black mark that can never be washed clean.”
Even though she had talked tough, she couldn’t help but worry. What if Cui Xiaojiu decided to go down with her and expose everything? What if she still didn’t have the strength to bear the consequences?
Faintly, an emotion of regret began to stir within Su Yanshi.
“Yanshi.”
When Bai Biqing called her name, her voice was always very soft, like a painless, itch-less scratch against her heart. Su Yanshi couldn’t help but swallow hard and took two steps forward, letting out a soft “Mm?”
“Come here.”
Su Yanshi looked up at her, then quickly looked away and strode over. Bai Biqing was leaning against the table, her eyes full of smiles. She pulled the Alpha closer and picked up the medicine she had prepared earlier, gently dabbing it on her.
“Do you not trust me?” she asked again.
Su Yanshi felt the side of her face turn cool, but the other woman’s breath inevitably fell upon her, making it a bit difficult to endure: “I… it’s not that I don’t trust you.”
Bai Biqing gave an “Mm—” and spoke with a beaming smile: “Then that means you don’t. Yanshi, I don’t believe Li Zhuonan hasn’t mentioned me to you—who I am, and my family background.”
Her fingertips slowly cupped Su Yanshi’s cheek, her eyes holding a helpless sigh: “Don’t forget, my surname is Bai. I was angry because you hurt yourself, even though I knew it was so you wouldn’t delay the filming. I was very angry, but I also want to thank you for what you said today. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have scared you.”
“Yanshi, next time, can you choose a more tactful way?”
Su Yanshi went stiff all over at her touch, just staring up into Bai Biqing’s eyes. She suddenly realized the Beta’s eyes were very beautiful, like the sea and the moon she had seen that night. Nearly half a month of spending time together had made their relationship very close.
She liked her very much—liked this friend very much.
The Alpha took a deep breath and gently rested her face on Bai Biqing’s shoulder. The soft pajamas cushioned her jaw, and her damp hair pressed against her face.
Bai Biqing seemed to be smiling. She reached up and stroked her hair: “Your hair is still wet. Do you want to blow-dry it in a bit?”
“Mm,” Su Yanshi answered muffledly.
“You haven’t answered my question yet.”
Su Yanshi closed her eyes and said, “I will.”
After speaking, she moved her body slightly and sniffed with her nose. she let out a sigh, but then feeling something was off, she pulled back a little distance and leaned in to sniff again, asking in confusion: “Teacher Bai, there’s no scent of pheromones on you anymore.”
