The next morning, as the sky began to turn a pale gray, Dong Mo nimbly flipped out of bed and opened the livestream.

There were not many viewers in the Beastman Sector during the early hours, but there were always a few night owls. Before long, three viewers entered Dong Mo’s livestream:

He glanced sideways at the snowbank that was still perfectly intact and covering the snake’s internal organs. Dong Mo decided to come back for the organs after he found a new cave. Otherwise, the scent of blood would be too strong, and he worried it might attract other animals along the way.

Following the slope all the way down, he noticed the eastern edge of the Tsukiyama Forest neared the Mid-Rain Plains. The further down he went, the richer the vegetation became and the more animals he saw. Dong Mo did not dare to go too far down. The reason the Beastmen of the Tsukiyama Tribe chose to settle near the mountain peaks was exactly because external threats were much smaller at higher altitudes.

As he moved horizontally along the foothills, large paw prints began to appear in the thick snow. Dong Mo instantly raised his guard and held the kitten in his arms a bit tighter. If he truly encountered a hungry beast, he and the kitten would surely be a free lunch.

Slowing his pace, Dong Mo stepped carefully through the snow, keeping his mouth tightly shut. Beside him, the vegetation rustled in the winter wind, and beneath his feet was the “squelch” of trodden snow.

The terrain was perfectly situated in the middle of the slope. Above it was a steep cliff of a sub-peak, and below were only a few rocks connecting to the hillside. The cave entrance featured a narrow, protruding stone ledge. If one slipped, they would simply roll all the way down the slope. It was a perfect residential cave for the primeval forest, easy to defend and hard to attack.

“Roar!”

While he was lost in thought, a hoarse roar suddenly erupted from the cave. The hair on Dong Mo’s body stood on end instantly. He trembled all over, and the hands wrapping the kitten shook slightly. Even the few viewers in the livestream were startled:

A pair of crimson vertical pupils, filled with bloodlust and hunger, fixed intently on Dong Mo.

At that moment, Dong Mo’s brain stalled. He suddenly remembered his childhood back on Earth.

In the past, Dong Mo would not have even looked at this question and would have complained about it. But at this moment, he wished he could travel back in time and carefully memorize the standard answer. Good heavens, the fellow in front of him looked exactly like a saber-toothed tiger!

The giant beast bared its teeth and let out one threatening roar after another from its throat. It sensed Dong Mo’s arrival and considered him an intruder, so it stepped out to defend its cave. The saber-toothed tiger roared as it charged, its two sharp fangs aimed straight at Dong Mo’s small head. In the next second, Dong Mo flattened his puppy body and pounced forward with all his might.

Dong Mo stood up from the ground again. His four small paws would not stop shaking. Slowly, he moved step by step to the edge of the platform and looked down.

A wide and massive fall path was left on the slope below. The form of the giant beast had completely disappeared into the pine forest.

Curling his fluffy tail again, Dong Mo paced back and forth with his small paws. He stared down for a long time until the vegetation that had been shaking from the collision became still again. Fortunately, this fellow was “polite” enough not to defecate in its own cave.

The depth and width of the cave were about the same, roughly three or four meters. It was a bit cramped for that giant beast, but for Dong Mo and the kitten, it was very spacious! After all the large pieces of filth were cleaned, Dong Mo sat down to catch his breath. There were some dark liquids on the rock floor and walls, which looked like dried blood.
