Did My Wife Break Up With Me Today? - Chapter 85
Chapter 85: “Stick out your tongue.”
Chen Kongqing raised his gaze, looking directly into Xu Jingmo’s phoenix-shaped eyes. His voice was firm: “Is this selfish? But I want your whole life, too.”
He gently wrapped his arms around the man’s lean waist from the side. “Xu Jingmo, don’t even think about shaking me off.”
Chen Kongqing leaned against Xu Jingmo’s shoulder, his hair brushing against the front of the man’s neck.
Xu Jingmo tilted his head slightly, his eyes as dark as night yet tempered with a touch of gentleness. “Xiaoman…”
“Nothing you say will work now.” Chen Kongqing held the man even tighter. “You’ve already promised me a lifetime; that means a lifetime.”
“Have you thought it through?” Xu Jingmo wanted to just leave it at that. To mention nothing more.
But, just as Jiang Wenshu had said, Chen Kongqing was still so young. Perhaps so young that he hadn’t fully thought things through.
Xu Jingmo reached out, covering the back of Chen Kongqing’s hand. “I’m worried you’ll regret it. You need to think clearly, Xiaoman. You’re still young.”
“Why would I regret it?” Chen Kongqing furrowed his brows tightly, his chin bumping discontentedly against Xu Jingmo’s shoulder. “I’ve thought it through very clearly. I am younger than you, but I’m an adult. I can think independently, and I can take responsibility for my choices.”
The palm covering his hand carried a searing heat, the thin calluses on the palm rubbing gently against the back of his hand.
“I know very clearly that I like you, and it’s not temporary.” Chen Kongqing wasn’t actually good at saying sweet nothings, so saying this out loud felt a bit cloying to him. “Xu Jingmo, I know what I’m doing.”
As he spoke, he pressed his cheek against Xu Jingmo’s and brushed his lips against the man’s cheek.
Xu Jingmo’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He looked down at Chen Kongqing. “Xiaoman, you’ll be stuck with me for the rest of your life.”
“I’m more than willing,” Chen Kongqing said, the corners of his mouth turning up. His voice was low but lighthearted.
Xu Jingmo took the opportunity to turn his head and kiss the corner of his mouth, his warm, wet tongue sliding out immediately.
“Mmph…” Chen Kongqing hadn’t expected Xu Jingmo to kiss him so suddenly, and his face instinctively pulled back.
In the next instant, the back of his head was blocked.
The tongue between his teeth probed inward tentatively, gradually becoming reckless.
Chen Kongqing felt his lips forced open; he couldn’t close them. The corners of his mouth grew wet, glistening with saliva.
Xu Jingmo became increasingly bold, eventually pinning him down onto the bed.
The old-fashioned solid wood bed frame gave a “creak” and wobbled.
Chen Kongqing’s heart jumped. Xu Jingmo let go of his lips for a moment, pressing against his neck, swirling his tongue over the skin and occasionally nipping at the flesh with his teeth.
“We’re at your old home!” Chen Kongqing’s voice rose with agitation, though he still kept it hushed. “We can’t!”
The Xu family’s ancestral home was large enough that Jiang Wenshu had arranged for him to stay in a separate courtyard. Although it wasn’t far from the front yard, it was certain that no sounds would carry.
Still, Chen Kongqing was so worried that he lowered his voice even further.
“Why can’t we just because it’s my home?” Xu Jingmo had no intention of listening. Instead, his brow relaxed as his large hand, resting on Chen Kongqing’s side, wandered freely.
Finally, it stopped at the “Little Rabbit’s” belly.
The rabbit’s belly was soft—so soft it felt like a plush toy stuffed with cotton.
The large hand unceremoniously slid under his clothes.
The rabbit instinctively tried to flee, shrinking into a ball and trembling. “Xu Jingmo, no…”
His belly was very ticklish. This whole area was a “weak spot.”
Ever since Xu Jingmo discovered this, he stopped holding back and actually took great pleasure in teasing this spot.
“Xiaoman, you just said you were more than willing,” Xu Jingmo said while taking the boy’s earlobe into his mouth.
His teeth nipped gently at the soft lobe.
Chen Kongqing’s breathing grew erratic. “Ugh… when I said I was willing, I didn’t mean this!”
“It includes this,” Xu Jingmo said to himself.
Chen Kongqing: “…”
He had been absolutely determined to refuse, but Xu Jingmo had toyed with him until his legs went weak, his mind went blank, and his breathing turned into a mess.
…
The old wooden bed was sturdy enough, but it couldn’t help but creak.
Chen Kongqing buried his entire head into the pillow, turning bright red from the lack of air rather than coming up for a breath.
It was Xu Jingmo who forced that “small tomato” of a face out of the pillow. “Are you trying to smother yourself, Xiaoman?”
Chen Kongqing gripped the bedsheets beneath him, letting out a gasp.
But soon, he couldn’t help but let a few moans slip through his teeth.
He tried to bury his head back into the pillow again.
But the man behind him pulled him back once more.
Chen Kongqing cast a resentful look backward, biting his lower lip hard.
Seeing this, Xu Jingmo rubbed the back of the rabbit’s neck, then used his arm to hook around the rabbit’s neck, pulling him backward into his chest.
Chen Kongqing’s waist was very soft; his flexibility was as good as a real rabbit’s. Thus, his body easily curved into some rather difficult angles.
Xu Jingmo stared into the rabbit’s flushed eyes with his own shimmering ones, asking knowingly, “You don’t want to make a sound?”
“Nng…” Chen Kongqing still bit his lip, trying to turn his face away.
However, his neck was held firmly in place, and he couldn’t even turn his head back.
“Then don’t bite your lip,” Xu Jingmo coaxed. “Stick out your tongue.”
Chen Kongqing felt dazed, taking a second to wonder why he had to stick out his tongue.
Then, in the next second.
He obediently stuck his tongue out.
Xu Jingmo immediately kissed him, capturing the pink, wet tip of his tongue.
“Wuuu…” Chen Kongqing truly couldn’t make a sound now; his mouth was blocked completely.
…
In the early morning, the sound outside the window wasn’t the flow of city traffic, but a few barks and the honking of geese.
Chen Kongqing frowned. He had been dreaming of eating a giant fruit cake and had just taken a huge scoop with a massive fork.
But before he could eat it, a giant goose suddenly appeared and took a big bite out of his butt.
It hurt quite a bit.
He snapped his eyes open, waking up.
His vision was still blurry, but his consciousness was returning.
So there were geese honking outside. No wonder he had such a strange dream.
Well… his butt did actually hurt, though it wasn’t from a goose bite—it was from a “dog” gnawing on him!
Chen Kongqing shifted slightly under the covers. Xu Jingmo, who was encircling him from behind, whispered, “Awake?”
“Mhm…” His throat hadn’t been overused last night, so his voice wasn’t hoarse today. “Are there geese outside?”
“Yes, the old man keeps some white geese and mandarin ducks,” Xu Jingmo answered, rubbing the rabbit’s soft belly. “I’ll take you to see them in a bit.”
Chen Kongqing suddenly thought of a serious problem. “What about the sheets? They must be dirty… You… you wash them!”
Xu Jingmo laughed. “Wasn’t it you who got them dirty, baby? Why me?”
Chen Kongqing stopped talking and turned his head, staring dead-on at Xu Jingmo.
“Fine, I’ll wash them.” Xu Jingmo arched his brows. “Then Xiaoman has to give me a kiss.”
Chen Kongqing suddenly found a burst of energy and pushed Xu Jingmo away. “No. I’m getting up. What if your parents think I like sleeping in?”
“They’d want you to sleep in a bit longer,” Xu Jingmo said, reaching out with his large hand to pull Chen Kongqing back.
Chen Kongqing tried to shake off the hand on his belly, his tone a bit anxious: “That’s still not good, hurry up and let go of me…”
They dawdled in the bedroom for quite a while. Only then did Chen Kongqing manage to overcome “all hardships” and get out of bed.
Since they were heading back to Kun City in the afternoon, as soon as he got up, Chen Kongqing watched Xu Jingmo wash the sheets. Then the two went to eat breakfast, followed shortly by lunch, and then it was time to depart.
“Xiaoman, come back and visit again,” Jiang Wenshu said as she saw them to the door.
Xu Pingqing followed, giving Chen Kongqing a Chinese translation that the couple had worked on together.
Chen Kongqing held the book and nodded. “Okay. I’ll definitely come back when I have time.”
Xu Jingmo stood beside Chen Kongqing, his eyes constantly darting toward the courtyard.
Jiang Wenshu saw through her son’s little thoughts. Fine lines crinkled at the corners of her eyes as she produced a brocade box from somewhere and handed it to Chen Kongqing. “This is a Ping’an Kou (safety buckle) from Grandfather.”
“For… for me?” Chen Kongqing looked down, first at the box, then instinctively at Xu Jingmo.
The tension in Xu Jingmo’s brow vanished instantly. He teased, “Why didn’t he give it himself?”
“He cares too much about his pride,” Xu Pingqing added, showing no mercy to his father. “When I was going abroad to study, he was the same. He wouldn’t see me, but then as I was leaving with my luggage, he had your grandmother stuff money into my hands.”
“That’s just how the old man is,” Jiang Wenshu tucked the box into Chen Kongqing’s hands. “Take it, good child. Be careful of your health when you go back to school; you look too thin.”
Jiang Wenshu had the face of a classic Jiangnan woman, and her mannerisms were gentle and poised. She would crack jokes from time to time, making her more witty than the traditional image of a gentle woman.
Xu Jingmo had been holding Chen Kongqing’s hand; he now squeezed his knuckles, giving him a look that told him to go ahead and accept it.
Chen Kongqing didn’t decline further and accepted the box. “Thank you, Auntie Shu. And please thank Grandfather for me.”
Jiang Wenshu smiled. “Will do.”
The couple stood at the roadside until they saw the two into the car. They remained there until the car disappeared into the distance.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Chen Kongqing opened the window and waved to the couple as they grew smaller. Only when they were out of sight did he turn back.
In his hands was the ink-colored brocade box.
Xu Jingmo turned the steering wheel. “Open it and see if you like it.”
Chen Kongqing carefully opened the box.
An exquisite, translucent jade Ping’an Kou appeared before him—perfectly round on the outside and hollow in the center. He touched it gently; it wasn’t cold to the touch. Instead, it felt warm and mellow.
Though he hadn’t studied jade deeply, he dealt with minerals often while researching herbs, so he could recognize quality. This piece was clearly priceless and no ordinary object.
Chen Kongqing couldn’t help but feel uneasy. “This is too precious… I shouldn’t keep it.”
Xu Jingmo didn’t comfort him. Instead, he glanced over. “That one? That one is Grandfather’s personal favorite.”
“Ah, then what should I do? Should I not have taken it?” Chen Kongqing suddenly felt the jade in his palm grow incredibly hot. Like a hot potato.
Xu Jingmo pondered. “Well, since you’ve already taken it… you can only…”
Chen Kongqing was anxious. “Only what?”
Xu Jingmo said solemnly, “You can only be his grandson-in-law now.”
