Did My Wife Break Up With Me Today? - Chapter 75
Chapter 75: “You’re so fierce, baby.”
“That still won’t do!” The rabbit huffed, mimicking the serious tone of a formal official on a stage. “It affects the city’s image!”
Xu Jingmo laughed and pulled him into his arms, clearly undeterred. Instead, he tightened his hold around the boy’s waist. “Let me hold you a little longer.”
The man’s voice was tender, as if he truly couldn’t get enough. A evening breeze drifted by, carrying a sense of lingering affection in its wake.
Chen Kongqing stopped moving. Truth be told, he didn’t have the strength to move anyway, and Xu Jingmo was like a solid iron plate—even if he wanted to shift, he couldn’t. He didn’t know how long they stood there in the wind. Before Xu Jingmo finally let go, he stole two more kisses.
Because they had been drinking, they couldn’t drive and called a designated driver. Chen Kongqing had originally intended to go back to his rental apartment. However, while in the car, Xu Jingmo kept saying he felt dizzy and nauseous from the alcohol.
The rabbit frowned, a tiny bit of confusion in his heart. Wasn’t he perfectly fine on the street just now, full of strength? How did he suddenly… get dizzy?
“Weren’t you fine a moment ago?” Chen Kongqing asked, genuinely puzzled.
“It hit me once I sat down,” Xu Jingmo replied, his voice weak. He pressed his fingers against his temples, his brow furrowed deeply. He looked like he was in real pain.
Chen Kongqing’s concern flared up. He shifted closer to the man. “Does your head hurt badly? Should I open the window for some air?”
Xu Jingmo shook his head and leaned weakly against Chen Kongqing’s shoulder. “No, I just need to lean on you for a bit.”
Chen Kongqing’s face flushed. He kept his upper body stiff, as if his bones and muscles had gone their separate ways. He peeked toward the driver’s seat, wondering if the driver could see. But Xu Jingmo seemed truly unwell; after leaning on him, he didn’t move another inch. His phoenix eyes were closed, revealing thick, dark eyelashes.
Chen Kongqing couldn’t bring himself to push him away. As the minutes passed, his stiff frame gradually relaxed. He reached out and lightly tapped the man’s straight nose with his fingertip.
A quiet Xu Jingmo was rare. He wasn’t saying things that the rabbit couldn’t handle, nor was he pinching his waist. He just leaned obediently on his shoulder, leaving his handsome, deep features for the boy to admire. Chen Kongqing didn’t dare play too much, only touching the tip of his nose for fear of waking him.
The restaurant was a bit far from the apartment. During the second half of the trip, Xu Jingmo seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep, his body slumping further into the boy’s embrace.
Chen Kongqing didn’t resist. He couldn’t say no to a vulnerable Xu Jingmo. After the driver parked the car in the garage, Chen Kongqing whispered in his ear, “We’re home. Shall I help you up?”
The man finally fluttered his eyelids open, his voice raspy. “Is the driver gone?”
“Yes, he’s gone. The car is parked.” Chen Kongqing touched the man’s brow. “Are you still dizzy?”
Xu Jingmo: “Mm…”
He helped Xu Jingmo out of the car. He had never noticed before, but Xu Jingmo was quite heavy. When the man pressed against him, Chen Kongqing could barely catch his breath.
Stepping into the apartment after so long, everything looked the same. His slippers were still at the entrance, and the paper cuttings they had made together during the New Year were still on the floor-to-ceiling window. The furniture hadn’t changed, yet something felt different. It lacked a sense of “life.” Even though it was spring, the air felt cold.
Chen Kongqing helped Xu Jingmo into the master bedroom on the second floor. This was his first time in Xu Jingmo’s room. Once before, Xu Jingmo had been drunk—worse than tonight—but Chen Kongqing hadn’t been able to get him up the stairs.
The room was minimalist. The monochromatic bedding and the perfectly smooth sheets gave off a cold vibe. And indeed, the bed was cold. Chen Kongqing settled the man against the headboard and pulled back the chilly duvet. It seemed to be made of ice silk fabric, which explained the cold touch.
“Rest here for a bit. I’ll go make you some ginger soup.” Chen Kongqing started to turn away.
Suddenly, his wrist was seized with a strength that didn’t seem to belong to a dizzy, drunken man. Before he could react, a pair of arms wrapped around him from behind. He fell backward into Xu Jingmo’s embrace.
The sheets were icy, but the man’s hug was scorching hot, smelling faintly of alcohol—not a sharp scent, but a mellow one. Chen Kongqing looked up and met those phoenix eyes looking directly down at him. There was a haze of alcohol around the eyes, but the pupils themselves were clear.
He was stone-cold sober.
Chen Kongqing realized he’d been played. He felt a surge of annoyance and began to struggle in that firm, hot embrace. “You were faking it, weren’t you?!”
A pair of iron-like arms locked him from behind. The more he struggled, the tighter the lock became. Chen Kongqing bit his lip. He didn’t need an answer; Xu Jingmo had definitely been faking!
“Xu Jingmo!”
The man leaned in, his lips brushing against the boy’s neck. “You’re so fierce, baby.”
“…” Chen Kongqing gritted his teeth. “Liar! Let me go!”
“I’m not lying. My head really hurts.” Xu Jingmo buried his nose in the rabbit’s neck and took a deep breath. He really is “huffing” the cat, Chen Kongqing thought, getting even angrier.
But he was no match for Xu Jingmo. After a brief struggle, he found himself pinned onto the bed. The ice silk fabric felt cold against his skin, even through his clothes.
“It’s so cold, why do you like sleeping on this?” Chen Kongqing momentarily forgot his resistance, hugging Xu Jingmo who was propped up over him, and complained sincerely.
“Cold? I suppose I’m used to it.” Xu Jingmo leaned down, rubbing his nose against the boy’s. “Then why don’t you lie on top of me?”
“No…” Chen Kongqing’s cheeks turned red. “How can you be like this?”
Xu Jingmo: “What did I do?”
“Faking being drunk, faking the headache…” the rabbit muttered. “You weren’t like this before.”
Xu Jingmo lifted his face slightly, an eyebrow arching. “What was I like before?”
“Before…” Chen Kongqing lightly rubbed the short hair at the back of Xu Jingmo’s neck; it was a bit prickly. “You were very proper. You wouldn’t act like this.”
Xu Jingmo: “Do you dislike me like this?”
Chen Kongqing was terrified Xu Jingmo would say he’d change back. He hurriedly spoke, his eyes downturned, not daring to meet the man’s gaze. “It’s not that.”
It wasn’t that he was lying; it was just that in this position, if they met eyes, it wouldn’t end with just a look.
“In truth, I’ve always been like this.” Xu Jingmo was unapologetic as he pressed his nose against the rabbit’s. “Chen Kongqing, I was never a ‘proper’ good person.”
What proper person would eye someone who already had a boyfriend? What proper person would calculate every step like this?
“Well, there’s nothing to be done about it now.” Chen Kongqing poked his cheek with his tongue, his gaze still refusing to lift. “I’ve already fallen for you.”
No one could understand what those words meant to Xu Jingmo. His lips thinned into a line, and a thousand emotions surged in his deep eyes.
Suddenly, Chen Kongqing felt Xu Jingmo’s nose poke a small “dimple” into his cheek. Then, his lips were captured. It was another undeniable kiss.
Chen Kongqing decided he couldn’t just keep being the passive one. He decided to take the initiative. He mimicked Xu Jingmo, poking his tongue out to clumsily hook against the other’s. He didn’t know if he was doing it right, but he tasted a hint of alcohol as he pushed a few inches into Xu Jingmo’s mouth.
Xu Jingmo felt it immediately—a soft, wet little tongue “sucking” on him. The rabbit was kissing back. The veins on Xu Jingmo’s forehead throbbed. He closed his eyes and drove his tongue back into Chen Kongqing’s sweet mouth with even more dominance, as if to swallow him whole.
The rabbit couldn’t handle such intensity. His face turned bright red, and his hands moved from the man’s neck to push against his firm chest.
“Mph-mph…”
Chen Kongqing made a piteous sound. But Xu Jingmo showed no mercy, hooking his tongue deeper. He seized both of the boy’s slender wrists with one hand and pinned them above his head.
“Mph… ah!” The rabbit struggled, his hands and body twisting. His lips felt numb. Gradually, his struggle turned into a competitive desire, and he began to return the kiss feverishly.
In the entanglement, the ice-silk bed grew scorching hot. Chen Kongqing didn’t even know when his clothes had been stripped away. By the time he realized it, he was completely bare.
Xu Jingmo, however, was still perfectly dressed. Aside from slightly messy hair, he looked like he could walk out the door.
Chen Kongqing got a bit angry and reached out to strip the man. “You take yours off too!”
Xu Jingmo laughed and cooperated, shedding his clothes one by one until only a white cotton undershirt remained. The fabric was thin, outlining the firm muscles and the defined ridges of his abs.
Chen Kongqing swallowed hard, biting his lip. “I… I don’t have early classes tomorrow.”
