Deliberate Possession [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 62
Chapter 62: Don’t Hesitate
The atmosphere in the bathroom was quiet for a few seconds. Jiang Yumian felt inexplicably guilty. She swallowed and asked uncertainly, “You, you didn’t go that day?“
Jing Xiaoyan chuckled. “Nope, I didn’t go.“
Hearing her confident reply, Jiang Yumian bit her tongue. So she had been mistaken all afternoon.
She lowered her eyes, not daring to look at Jing Xiaoyan now, mainly because she felt embarrassed.
She blinked, leaning on the bathtub to stand up, but was quickly held down by a pair of hands again.
“Tell me, were you jealous of Lin Xi or Chu Baiyue?“
Jing Xiaoyan wore a triumphant smile, asking Jiang Yumian with a curious tone, as if she were gossiping about a matter unrelated to herself.
Jiang Yumian immediately refuted, “Why would I be jealous?“
Meeting Jing Xiaoyan’s teasing eyes, Jiang Yumian paused. Jealousy? Yes, there was some. She definitely felt uncomfortable.
But Jiang Yumian was mainly bothered by the fact that Jing Xiaoyan had left her, drunk and naked, alone in the hotel to go have fun at a music festival.
And the thought of why she went only made her feel more uncomfortable.
Jing Xiaoyan reached out and pinched her face, gently rubbing it. She didn’t press her to admit that she was jealous, but just smiled and explained, “If you wouldn’t go to the music festival with me, why would I go?“
She continued, “You were sleeping just like that that day. I did want to stay and sleep with you, but you would definitely have scolded me when you woke up, so I left.“
Jiang Yumian moved her lips, lowered her head, and softly said, “Oh,” a stark contrast to her previous loud and aggressive demeanor.
Jing Xiaoyan didn’t stay there to laugh at her. Jiang Yumian was thin-skinned. If she made her angry out of embarrassment, she would start ignoring her again.
She let go of her hands, stood up, and looked outside. “Hurry up and shower. Don’t ignore me anymore. I’ll go pack and wait for you outside.“
Jiang Yumian replied with another “Oh.” She didn’t dare to snap back at all. Only after Jing Xiaoyan went out did she climb out of the bathtub.
Staring at the running water in the bathtub, Jiang Yumian sighed softly.
She was reflecting.
Jing Xiaoyan had been too good to her, making her a little irrational, thinking that Jing Xiaoyan shouldn’t have left her that day. But Jing Xiaoyan wasn’t her anything, so why should she stay with her?
She had been presumptuously aggressive towards Jing Xiaoyan many times, leveraging Jing Xiaoyan’s liking for her. It wasn’t right.
Jiang Yumian sighed deeply. Forget it, she shouldn’t think about it anymore.
Jiang Yumian didn’t stay in the bathroom for long. After showering, she came out wearing a bathrobe. To let Jing Xiaoyan quickly take a shower too, she took the hairdryer out to dry her hair.
Jing Xiaoyan was outside playing with her phone, waiting for her. Hearing the movement, she looked up, and her gaze lingered for a moment when she saw Jiang Yumian with wet hair.
“Why didn’t you dry your hair before coming out?“
Jiang Yumian found an outlet outside, plugged in the hairdryer, and gestured towards the bathroom with her chin. “You go shower quickly. I can dry my hair out here.“
“I’ll dry your hair for you first, then I’ll go.” Jing Xiaoyan put down her phone, reaching for the hairdryer in Jiang Yumian’s hand.
Jiang Yumian avoided her hand, her voice soft. “Thanks, but I can do it myself. I came out so you could go wash up sooner. We have a train to catch later.“
With that, she turned on the hairdryer and lowered her head, focusing on drying her hair.
The suddenly imposed distance felt strange to Jing Xiaoyan, but she didn’t know what to say and headed to the bathroom first.
While washing, she thought about whether Jiang Yumian’s attitude towards her just now was a bit too strange—a little distant, but not quite. Was it… politeness?
Politeness?
Was the politeness one would show a stranger appropriate for her?
Thinking about this, Jing Xiaoyan quickly finished her shower and wanted to come out to talk to Jiang Yumian.
When she came out, Jiang Yumian had already finished drying her hair and changed her clothes. She was sitting on the bed, looking at her phone, hesitating whether to go back by herself or with Jing Xiaoyan.
Noticing Jing Xiaoyan coming out, Jiang Yumian put away her phone and pointed to the hairdryer she had placed aside. “Hurry up and dry your hair. Don’t catch a cold.“
“Mianmian.” Jing Xiaoyan walked directly towards her. Under Jiang Yumian’s puzzled gaze, she picked up the hairdryer and placed it in her hand. “I want you to dry it for me.“
Jiang Yumian opened her mouth, intending to scold her, but after a pause, she took the hairdryer and nodded. “Okay, sit here.“
Although she was confused about why Jiang Yumian didn’t snap back at her, Jing Xiaoyan sat down anyway. It was quite an accomplishment to get Jiang Yumian to dry her hair.
The hairdryer was turned on. Jiang Yumian held her hair in her hand, blowing hot air at it. Jing Xiaoyan sat there, letting her do it.
Looking at Jiang Yumian standing in front of her, Jing Xiaoyan, who had been sitting still obediently, couldn’t hold still for two seconds. As if she had ADHD, she reached out and tugged at the hem of Jiang Yumian’s jacket, then patted it.
Jiang Yumian looked down at her clothes, didn’t notice anything wrong, and shifted her attention back to her hair.
Jing Xiaoyan lowered her eyes, remained silent for two seconds, and stretched out her foot, clamping Jiang Yumian’s straight legs.
The person busy drying her hair looked down again, but still didn’t react much.
Jing Xiaoyan thought for a moment, kicked off her slippers, and placed her bare foot on the instep of Jiang Yumian’s slipper-clad foot. Her toes tapped rhythmically. After playing for a while, seeing that she wasn’t stopped, she became more brazen, moving her foot backward and rubbing against Jiang Yumian’s ankle.
The hand holding the hairdryer trembled uncontrollably. Jiang Yumian gritted her teeth and finally lifted her foot slightly, avoiding Jing Xiaoyan’s excessive action.
Seeing that she finally reacted, Jing Xiaoyan’s eyes lit up. She stretched out her foot and nudged Jiang Yumian’s other standing foot.
Jiang Yumian took a deep breath, enduring it and continuing to dry her hair.
After several minutes, her hair was mostly dry. As soon as she turned off the hairdryer, Jing Xiaoyan clamped her legs, preventing her from stepping back.
Immediately after, Jing Xiaoyan hugged her waist.
Jiang Yumian’s chest burned. Feeling the face pressed against her stomach through her clothes, she lowered her head, looking at the black hair on top of Jing Xiaoyan’s head, and gently pushed her.
Jing Xiaoyan didn’t move. She asked directly, “Mianmian, what is our relationship now?“
Jiang Yumian froze. After thinking for a long time, Jing Xiaoyan didn’t rush her for an answer, only rubbing her face against her abdomen.
“Colleagues.“
Colleagues filming a variety show together.
Jiang Yumian felt her answer was ridiculous. In many moments, she almost considered Jing Xiaoyan her girlfriend, especially since she technically was.
Jing Xiaoyan raised her head and met Jiang Yumian’s gaze.
Jiang Yumian bit her lip, a little flustered.
But Jing Xiaoyan wasn’t angry. She just pulled her closer and asked, “Colleagues, then would Mianmian dry a colleague’s hair?“
“Would you sleep in the same bed as a colleague?“
“Would you let your colleague kiss your face?“
Jiang Yumian pursed her lips, avoiding eye contact. No, she wouldn’t, but she didn’t dare to speak up.
Not waiting for her to speak, Jing Xiaoyan glanced down, saw the hairdryer in her hand, took it, and tossed it onto the bed.
Seeing her act so decisively, Jiang Yumian’s heart raced. She took a step back, looking at Jing Xiaoyan warily.
Sure enough, before she could retreat, the seated person stood up and immediately hugged her.
“Am I really just your colleague?” Jing Xiaoyan pressed her forehead against hers, emphasizing the main point. “Why are you suddenly being so polite to me? Was the month I spent pursuing you for nothing?”
Jiang Yumian tilted her head back, nervously propping herself against Jing Xiaoyan. “You, you’re not my anything. It’s proper for me to be polite.”
Jing Xiaoyan let go of her, crossed her arms, and narrowed her eyes, assessing Jiang Yumian. She finally understood what had clouded her mind after taking a shower.
She snorted lightly, her tone demanding. “No, I don’t agree.”
Who cares if she agreed or not, Jiang Yumian twitched her mouth. She felt relieved seeing that she had finally returned to normal.
She directly changed the topic, pushing Jing Xiaoyan away, and said directly, “Hurry up and change. The train is at seven. Let’s go back together.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Jing Xiaoyan suddenly grabbed her arm, and the scene before her quickly changed. She yelped, pinned down on the bed.
Jing Xiaoyan reached out and pinched Jiang Yumian’s face, then rubbed it. Jiang Yumian turned her head away to avoid her hand, holding back for a long time before finally snapping, “Stop pinching!”
Jing Xiaoyan smiled. Taking advantage of Jiang Yumian’s distraction, she lowered her head and kissed her cheek.
Jiang Yumian was pinned down and couldn’t dodge.
Jing Xiaoyan temporarily released her, looked up, and smiled. “Are you listening? Are we still colleagues?”
Jiang Yumian’s chest rose and fell rapidly. She took a breath, staring at Jing Xiaoyan, but remained silent.
Jing Xiaoyan waited for two seconds, then kissed her again.
Jiang Yumian finally couldn’t hold back. “Jing Xiaoyan, you damn dog! Ah!”
Kissed again, she was furious. “If you kiss me one more time, I’ll kill you!”
Satisfied with Jiang Yumian’s reaction, Jing Xiaoyan quickly let go of her. It was more comfortable when she was scolding her like this.
Jiang Yumian was pulled back up by her, sitting on the bed and panting.
She glared fiercely at Jing Xiaoyan. Damn dog. She couldn’t be treated kindly!
Jing Xiaoyan, however, was smiling.
“I prefer you like this now. You look more comfortable when you’re scolding me.”
She said this sincerely, as if she really enjoyed Jiang Yumian scolding her.
Jiang Yumian took a deep breath, gritting her teeth at Jing Xiaoyan. And here she was thinking of being nicer to her, making up for her previous excessive aggression.
But this damn dog didn’t appreciate it and actually enjoyed being scolded by her.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Are you crazy? Are you looking for trouble?”
Jing Xiaoyan sat down beside her, reached out and smoothed the hair on her back, sighed, and finally said seriously, “I’ve been pursuing you for so long, and your attitude suddenly regressed. It hurts.”
Jiang Yumian’s hand, which was about to slap hers away, froze. She looked up at her.
“I actually know my boundaries well. I wouldn’t randomly kiss you if I wasn’t confident.”
Jing Xiaoyan looked at her with serious eyes, gently squeezing Jiang Yumian’s fingers. “Go back and think carefully about what our relationship should be.”
Jiang Yumian pursed her lips in silence. Normally, she would have directly refuted her, but now she couldn’t give her an answer right away.
She raised her hand, rubbed her face, thought for a moment, and replied, “Got it.”
Hearing that she didn’t immediately deny it, Jing Xiaoyan couldn’t help but smile, her tone much lighter. “Go back with Mumu today. I’m staying here for one more day. I have an audition.”
Jiang Yumian was a little confused. “Aren’t you currently filming a movie?”
Jing Xiaoyan nodded and explained, “It will be finished in two months at most. The project I’m auditioning for won’t start filming so soon. It’s fine.”
Jiang Yumian couldn’t help but comment, “The movie industry’s workaholic…”
Whenever someone asked why Jing Xiaoyan wasn’t promoting herself, her big fans would reply, Sister is filming a movie. She’s busy.
Jiang Yumian used to think those comments were exaggerated, feeling like she was either filming a movie or on her way to film one.
Now she was truly witnessing it.
It felt like Jing Xiaoyan had some KPI to meet in the entertainment industry. She was too diligent.
Hearing her say that, Jing Xiaoyan smiled and immediately shook her head. “No. I’m preparing for a break. I’ve discussed it with the company. After filming one more movie, I’ll take a year off.”
Without waiting for Jiang Yumian to ask, she said directly, “I want to find time to pursue you and be in a relationship with you.”
Jiang Yumian was stunned for two seconds, then reached out and pushed her. “Oh, so you mean you’re only going to be with me for a year, and then we’ll break up?”
Jing Xiaoyan: “…”
That was twisting her words, but Jiang Yumian was doing it on purpose.
“What nonsense are you talking about? Do I look like that kind of person?” Jing Xiaoyan snorted lightly. “You haven’t even agreed to me yet. I have to find time to pursue you, then trick you into marrying me, and we’ll be together forever.”
Jiang Yumian was speechless. Before she could retort, there was a knock on the door. It was probably Su Mumu looking for her.
Jing Xiaoyan crossed her arms and gestured towards the door with her chin. “Go on. Remember to tell me when you get home.”
Jiang Yumian kicked her foot. “Who are you to tell me that?”
She ran out after kicking her, incredibly childish.
Su Mumu looked at her coming out and said irritably, “You didn’t answer my call. What were you doing with Jing Xiaoyan?”
Jiang Yumian turned on her phone. “Ah, did you call me?”
She added, “My phone was on silent.”
Seeing her dawdle, Su Mumu took a deep breath, grabbed her arm, and pulled her forward. “My dear, let’s go. My assistant is waiting downstairs.”
Jiang Yumian softly said, “Oh.” The two walked into the elevator. As the elevator doors closed, Jiang Yumian touched her face. Thinking of something, she suddenly asked, “Mumu, let me ask you a question. What do you think is the relationship between Jing Xiaoyan and me now?”
“Just… give an evaluation.”
Su Mumu was stunned. She turned to look at Jiang Yumian, scrutinized her for two seconds, and her expression suddenly became hard to read.
Jiang Yumian was confused. “Hmm?”
She just wanted her to give an evaluation. Was it that difficult to say?
Su Mumu looked at her hesitantly. She felt that Jiang Yumian and Jing Xiaoyan were practically dating already.
She thought for a moment, then struggled to speak. “Are you sure you want me to evaluate?”
Jiang Yumian nodded. “Don’t hesitate. Say it confidently. It’s just the two of us here anyway.”
Su Mumu cleared her throat and said boldly, “It’s probably reached the point where you two can sleep together.”
