Deliberate Possession [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 46
Chapter 46: Doesn’t Dare to Touch
After walking a long way along the road, they found that there were no breakfast shops on this side, but quite a few car repair shops.
Su Mumu pointed to the opposite side. “Let’s go across the road and take a look.”
Jiang Yumian nodded. They crossed the road and looked ahead. Still no breakfast shops here. The side they were walking on was quieter, with only a few occasional convenience stores and fruit shops.
“I don’t think there will be anything if we keep going forward. Let’s turn left.”
There were hardly any shops ahead.
Su Mumu nodded. The two walked back. The small town wasn’t big, and they quickly reached the original intersection, but now they were on the opposite side.
Jiang Yumian looked in the direction Jing Xiaoyan and the others had gone, then looked in Chu Qianyuan’s direction. She pointed a finger. “Let’s go find Sister Yunyun. I saw a bus stop over there. I feel like there’s a breakfast shop nearby.”
“Oh, but she’s not there anymore,” Su Mumu pointed in the direction Jing Xiaoyan had gone. “Look at Luo Cheng and Lin Xi.”
Jiang Yumian followed the direction she pointed, blinking. “Why are they here too?”
Su Mumu resisted the urge to roll her eyes. She felt Jiang Yumian wasn’t thinking. “The same as us, duh. Hurry up.”
She nudged Jiang Yumian’s arm, urging her to move faster. She wanted to go find Chu Qianyuan.
After walking for only about a hundred meters, they finally realized that this whole street was practically filled with breakfast shops, along with many small eateries.
Turns out they walked all that way for nothing. Some things were right under their noses.
“I think the director deliberately made us split into three groups. She wanted us to walk more.”
Jiang Yumian complained to the camera in an annoyed tone.
Su Mumu nodded perfunctorily. “I see Chu Qianyuan. I’m going to go scare her.”
She walked off after saying that.
The cameraman following them looked at Jiang Yumian, then at Su Mumu. Who should he follow?
Fortunately, Jiang Yumian reacted quickly and followed. She had been looking for Jing Xiaoyan earlier, but hadn’t seen her.
Chu Qianyuan was waiting for the breakfast shop owner to give her change when a pair of hands suddenly appeared behind her, startling her. The fifty-cent coin in her hand dropped straight onto the floor.
She turned around, ready to complain, but her eyes lit up when she saw it was Su Mumu. “Mumu!”
Jing Xiaoyan, sitting deepest inside, raised her head, glanced towards Chu Qianyuan, and lowered her head again when she didn’t see Jiang Yumian.
When Jiang Yumian arrived, Chu Qianyuan had just picked up the fifty-cent coin from the floor.
“Sister Yunyun, was there no food on your side either?”
Chu Qianyuan turned her head to look at her. “There was, but they were all small vegetable restaurants and small eateries. We didn’t see any breakfast shops.”
Lin Xi leaned over from behind, picked up the porridge she ordered, and casually interjected, “The owner over there said that most of the breakfast shops are on this street, so we came over. We still arrived late. Those three are almost done eating.”
Jiang Yumian was stunned. Only then did she realize what Lin Xi meant by “those three.” So Jing Xiaoyan was here too?
She looked inside. The breakfast shop was quite large and crowded. She only just noticed the three people hidden in the back.
Seeing Jing Xiaoyan eating breakfast with her head down, she quickly withdrew her gaze after only one look, feeling a little flustered.
She and Su Mumu ordered two bowls of wontons and waited for the owner to finish making them before going over.
Su Mumu glanced at the seats over there. Only four people could sit at one table. She walked straight to Chu Qianyuan’s side with her bowl and sat down.
She would let Jiang Yumian go to Jing Xiaoyan’s table herself.
Anyway, she had been preoccupied the whole way. She must have been thinking about Jing Xiaoyan the whole time.
Su Mumu raised an eyebrow. She was so good to her own people, practically delivering her right next to Jing Xiaoyan.
Jiang Yumian braced herself and sat down, wanting to see Jing Xiaoyan’s expression, but not daring to look. She could only maintain her composure, eating her breakfast as if nothing was wrong.
Xie Yunhuan sat across from her. Seeing her sit down, he spoke up to remind her, “There’s vinegar and chili sauce here. You can add it yourself if you want.”
Jiang Yumian nodded. “Okay.”
“Be careful of the heat. I was just eating wontons and got burned,” Ling Yisong also looked at her, but his gaze was mainly focused on the steaming hot bowl. He really was burned.
Jiang Yumian nodded again. “Mhm, mhm.”
She used her spoon to stir it, feeling a little down. Jing Xiaoyan still wasn’t talking to her.
Soon, she heard a soft sigh next to her. Her hand movements froze, but she didn’t dare to turn her head to look, so she just lowered her head and slowly ate her food.
The atmosphere at the next table was much better than theirs.
Lin Xi called her out directly. “Jing Xiaoyan, are you sealed by your leather jacket? So cool. Why are you being so aloof?”
Jing Xiaoyan finally turned her head. Because Jiang Yumian was blocking her, she leaned back slightly to look at Lin Xi, finally speaking, “I’m not being aloof.”
Luo Cheng imitated Jing Xiaoyan’s tone. “Sis isn’t aloof. Sis is sassy!”
Everyone burst into laughter soon after.
Lin Xi teased, “Luo Chengcheng, your imitation isn’t good, because you’re not as narcissistic as she is.”
Jing Xiaoyan offered a fake smile. “How can I be as narcissistic as you?”
Lin Xi didn’t refute her, but noticed her eyes and asked directly, “Why are your eyes so red today? Who scolded you until you cried?”
The porcelain spoon in Jiang Yumian’s hand dropped into the bowl with a crisp clatter.
Jing Xiaoyan cried?
She swallowed, unable to resist turning her head, wanting to look at the person next to her. Was she wearing sunglasses earlier to hide this?
Meeting Jiang Yumian’s bewildered eyes, Jing Xiaoyan only looked once before averting her gaze. She retorted to Lin Xi, “You cried.”
After the retort, she turned back, looked at her finished breakfast, and reached for a tissue to wipe her mouth.
Ling Yisong held back a laugh and quickly explained for her, “Sis is like this because of the spice.”
Xie Yunhuan couldn’t help it and laughed out loud. “You arrived late, so you didn’t see. Sis added a lot of chili to her mixed noodles.”
Jiang Yumian’s anxious heart finally settled down. She didn’t feel so bad anymore. She picked up her spoon again, eating slowly. She could finally taste the food, and the flavor was quite good.
“Let’s not split up. Let’s go together,” Su Mumu suddenly suggested. She looked at Jiang Yumian, feigning distaste. “I regret it. I still want to be with Yunyun. Netizens should ship Yunyun and me. Mianmian didn’t bring her brain today.”
Chu Qianyuan nodded vigorously. “Ship me, ship me. Jiang Yumian looks better with Jing Xiaoyan.”
Lin Xi blinked. “Mianmian can be with me too. I saw that my mother-daughter CP with Mianmian is even more popular. There are even short stories written about us two.”
Su Mumu glanced at the two of them. So dumb. They’re still covering for Jing Xiaoyan here, when Mianmian already knows.
“What short stories? I want to read them too!” Luo Cheng was full of gossip, completely unaware that what they were saying had any other meaning. She just thought they were all quite broad-minded, and the netizens must be ecstatic with how they were playing along.
Lin Xi lightly cleared her throat, pretending to be mysterious. “I can’t say. I’m afraid the live broadcast will get shut down.”
“Which teacher is writing the short stories? Quickly offer them up to me!”
“I’m just asking if you guys are embarrassed. The actual people saw it, hahaha!”
“I’ve read them, I’ve read them! So naughty…hehehe!”
“Which teacher is making the food! Where is the food! I want to eat too!”
“Starting to order. I want to eat Mianmian and Sister’s!”
“Then I’ll order too. I want to eat Mumu and Yunyun’s!”
“Am I the only one whose focus is different? They actually watch them too! Ahhh! Oh my gosh! So embarrassing!”
“Hahaha, the one upstairs, could that be you who wrote it?”
“I think you hit the nail on the head.”
“Me too…” +99
Jiang Yumian gripped the spoon in her hand, her cheeks slightly flushed. She turned her head to look towards Lin Xi. It wouldn’t be some stepmom literature, would it? She’s only three years older than me!
“Isn’t that absolutely shocking…” she couldn’t help but complain.
Xie Yunhuan suddenly spoke up, “But it’s great to ship!”
Jiang Yumian widened her eyes, looking at him incredulously. “You too?”
Xie Yunhuan cleared his throat, looking up at the sky. He denied it with no effect. “No, no.”
Jiang Yumian covered her face with her hand. He said no, but his guilt was written all over his face.
Perhaps feeling that his explanation was too weak, Xie Yunhuan quickly dragged the person next to him into it. “I said that because Ling Yisong told me. He said you and Sister Xiaoyan are a great ship.”
Ling Yisong covered his face on the side. It’s over, it’s over.
He was really something…
Lu Zhi also covered her face with her hand. The live broadcast was lagging again, and they were going to be trending again. They were really something, but thankfully, they didn’t crash her live streaming room.
Jiang Yumian lowered her head to eat the wontons in her bowl, listening to the others making noise. Jing Xiaoyan still wasn’t talking to her. She wondered what she was thinking.
Her loose hair was troublesome. Just as she tucked her hair behind her ear again, the person next to her suddenly moved.
Feeling Jing Xiaoyan’s action of tucking her hair back, Jiang Yumian’s heart warmed, and she suddenly didn’t dare to move.
“I happen to have a hair tie.”
Jing Xiaoyan’s voice was soft, as if she was just mentioning it casually, but Jiang Yumian felt even worse.
She clearly bullied her, yet she was still being nice to her.
Jiang Yumian felt a lump in her throat. “Thank you.”
Jing Xiaoyan nodded, restraining her gaze, trying not to look at Jiang Yumian. “You’re welcome. Eat. Be careful of the heat.”
Ling Yisong, who clearly felt the awkwardness between them, swallowed. Why did they seem so distant now?
He lightly cleared his throat to break the atmosphere. “Well, speaking of which, let’s just go together. We don’t even know what the theme is this time. We already got tricked by splitting up earlier.”
Jing Xiaoyan nodded. “Mhm, I was thinking the same thing.”
Chu Qianyuan nodded. “Okay. Let’s eat slowly. We can stroll around after eating. Every street in this town is a little different.”
There were no specific tasks this time. They were just free to move around. It seemed like the point was just for them to explore.
After finishing breakfast, the group came out together. Jing Xiaoyan finally stopped deliberately maintaining her distance from Jiang Yumian. She walked right behind her, but was still quiet.
Jiang Yumian thought about it, took off the hair tie, and slowed down to walk side-by-side with Jing Xiaoyan. She reached out to hand the hair tie to Jing Xiaoyan.
She said cautiously, in a somewhat tentative tone: “Giving it back to you.”
Jing Xiaoyan lowered her eyes and reached out to take it, but Jiang Yumian tightened her grip on the hair tie, intending to hold her hand and talk to her. To her surprise, Jing Xiaoyan quickly pulled her hand away.
It was like a reflex. She didn’t dare to touch her again.
Jiang Yumian’s long eyelashes fluttered. She put the hair tie into Jing Xiaoyan’s pocket and said quickly, “Thank you.”
After saying that, she quickly turned around and walked back to her original spot.
Jing Xiaoyan really took her words to heart. Even though she knew Jiang Yumian was joking, she didn’t dare to get close anymore.
She was using her actions to show her stance: Stay away from someone who has a girlfriend.
Jiang Yumian was also certain now. Who was she tormenting? Clearly herself.
